There are very few places I genuinely recommend with regularity. The family mechanic is one of them. I first found out about this shop years ago during a glut of car break-ins. They started replacing neighbor's broken car windows for free.Since that time I have always found the shop to be honest, and do quality work at a reasonable price. I've now been a customer for years. Only positive experiences. It's such a relief to have a mechanic you can trust.

I was recommended by customer! Needed window replace at reasonable price & guys did wonderful job! The shop was clean the guys were super polite! Thanks guys! Now my car looks whole Lott better now!! Keep up the good work.

The Family Mechanic is truly exceptional! Living just down the street, I decided to entrust them with my aging car. Despite my limited budget, they presented me with various repair options and provided a perfect solution at a reasonable price. Thanks to them, I'm back on the road without breaking the bank. Upon recommendation of a current customer l took my vehicle to the Family Mechanic for repairs to my exhaust system. The job was completed on time at a very reasonable price. Not your typical mechanic shop! They will paint your catalytic catelytic converter to deter theft. The scrap yard won't accept it with this certain paint. This place is very professional and there is a huge window in the (star wars themed) waiting room so you can see what they are doing. I have found my new "go to" mechanic.

Went there first time today for a oil change. Had bad experiences at other Auto Repair shops, but these guys were honest and very friendly! I want to make this my go to place now for future repairs on my vehicles. My only regret is that I didn't find these guys sooner with all the ripping off going on out there with some mechanics. Not this place! I have a part-time business myself and deal with my customers the best way I know how never ripping them off. I've been doing it for 33 years. The Family Mechanic is one of the best mechanic shops I've been to in the entire city. They're prompt, friendly, explain problems well, and the prices are very reasonable. I've had three cars serviced here over a number of years and I always know I can trust the work.

I only recently took my car(s) here for maintenance. Very nice, friendly employees. I would rather go here instead of the Ford dealership in Cudahy! Great job!

The Family Mechanic was recommended by a work colleague when I moved to Milwaukee. So far this has been the nicest and welcoming place that I took my car too. I never felt they treated me differently because I'm a woman. The shop is very knowledgeable, professional and good prices too. They are honest about the needed repairs and always provide fast quotes and high quality service. Nick is always ready to answer any questions that I might have. When you don t have a lot of money and something is wrong with your car, it can be really stressful. However, the guys at this shop did a great job and knowing my car is safe to drive is really nice. They were fast (all repairs I needed were done same day), thorough, honest, the communication was great and I left feeling at ease. I won t be going anywhere else for anything going on with my car and have told all my family and friends to check them out.

Reasonable prices and great work. The waiting room is comfortable and free Hawthorne Coffee. I switched from another local mechanic to here and couldn't be happier.

First of, THANK YOU!!! Thank you to anyone and everyone involved when I called in 30 minutes before closing on a Thursday night with my huge emergency and accommodating to my every need. We had just arrived from Chicago, on a mini-vacation. And the first thing that happens our car window completely shatters out of nowhere!!! I called big brand name companies and to begin with I couldn t get an actually person and secondly, the earliest these companies offered was a week. Ridiculous. I decided, local is best. I had only called big name companies because the hotel receptionist had suggested as I was completely shocked as to what to do. I searched online & Facebook and this place right here had amazing reviews. They were NOT wrong!!!They answered right away, I was shocked knowing and assuming, who would answer so late in the day?! But I m so glad they did!!!!! They scheduled me right away for the next morning! And I could not believe how quickly my car was fixed! The shop was full!!!! And it was a FRIDAY!!!The employees were so nice and professional, I appreciated their patience and kindness. I know we re Chicago people, and I m sure people can assume we re annoying Cubs fans. But honestly I was so astonished and relieved to know that this shop was able to accommodate so quickly, professionally, kindly and most importantly in these days, affordable! So thank you!!! Eli, Tyler, Zeke, Nick, & Zeb all work extremely hard to fix your car as quickly as possible with accuracy. Always a great service in the less time than any other shop I've ever attempted to use closer to my home. Worth it to call for a quote before you go anywhere else!

I love this mechanic and dont go anywhere else if i can help it. I always feel assured that the employees are treating me well and really appreciate that they will walk me through what the problem is and how they plan to fix it in ways i can understand. The service is usually very prompt and even when I cant make it during working hours i can drop off my keys no problem. If youre in bay view this is the place to go

These guys are great! Have brought my 2015 Cruze in 3 times for multiple issues and each time, they ve been able to schedule me within a few days of calling, complete the work promptly, and charge a fair price. Hidden gem, to me. Stopped in to get an inspection and quote on repair for my exhaust system. And within half a day they welded the line and reattached my muffler, and squeezed in an oil change. I expected only a check and having to book a later date for it all. They charged me $160 of labor for diagnostics just to tell me they couldn't figure out the problem. Then when I raised concern, they said I could come back in early January when their engine expert was available and wouldn't charge me for diagnostics then (gee, thanks).I don't know about you, but if I bring something in for repair, I expect at least some answers if I'm going to pay for labor.

This place is amazing. We are so lucky to have this shop in our neighborhood and to have found them. They are so easy to talk to, friendly and honest! The owner helped me on a weekend shortly after my second was born. My husband was out of town and our vehicle wasn't running. He swung by, popped in a new battery and sent us the bill. Quick, easy and painless. We go to them for all of our vehicle needs (Honda and Toyota) and we will NEVER go anywhere else.

Ely is a wonderful human being. He and his mechanics have gone up and above for me many times. I'm not a friend, just someone who really needed help and Ely and Family Mechanics are not just affordable, they are 100% trustworthy, and honest. I took my car here for the first time recently, and could hardly be happier with the service I received. Eli was very helpful and friendly, and the repairs on my car took less than a day. They didn't try to sell me on unneeded services, and were spot-on with their original quote. Will definitely be taking our vehicles here for future maintenance.

My husband and I have been so impressed with this business. Heard great reviews from a friend and decided to send our cars there. We have been there multiple times in 2017 and everything has been excellent. Eli is a great owner and very easy to deal with. He has a family and understands how cars and car repairs can get in the way of a busy life. Today he is actually bringing our car to us because we were not both available to pick it up. He has done this once before. If every business owner ran their business like he does the world would be a better place. I can't say enough about how highly I recommend The Family Mechanic! Send your cars there and tell your friends!

This shop is knowledgeable, professional, and reasonably priced. Highly, highly recommend this shop for all your auto mechanic needs. They did a great job on the suspension and the rack & pinion components of my Mazda SUV. The owner, Eli, is a mechanic guru and his team is top notch.

I can't say enough good things about The Family Mechanic. I found them because they were replacing vandalized car windows in Bayview free of labor charge. They are honest, they have great pricing, the will go the extra mile on diagnostics and research (I had a Volvo that had several strange quirks). As a female, it's an ongoing joke that mechanics will take advantage of you. Not the case here! I know because I run all of the work and pricing past the mechanics in my own family (hours away), and they say it's great! My Ford had an ignition problem, and instead of replacing right off the bat ($$$) they gave me a tip on how to make it work, and I got another whole year of use before it needed replacing (which they did for me). They also told me that my ball joint (or whatever) was going to need replacing and to keep an eye (ear) on it. They were honest about a repair that was under warranty from previous work they did- and they didn't need to do that because I wouldn't have known... But they're great. I could go on. I will take my cars there for as long as I live in the Milwaukee area.

I contacted The Family Mechanic because my check engine light came on. When i gave Eli the code for the failure, he was able to explain the issue, provide pricing and got my car in and fixed all in the same day. Professional, reasonable and prompt service. Overall great experience!

I try not to speak negatively about a business, most qualms can be forgotten if not forgiven.However, The Family Mechanic in Bay View now deserves it.They have had my vehicle for over a month and a half. It wouldn't start. A month ago they told me they spent a half hour on it and narrowed it down to 1 of 2 things. Fuse block or wiring in steering column. As of last Friday Eli (Manager/owner?) told me they hadn't done anything with it since, it was in one of their lots for storage, and that the soonest they could work on it would be this Friday.I spent over $1500 at this shop between March and June. They recommended I get an $800 ball joint replacement - I did. I asked about a squeaking noise, they said it was a bad u-joint, nothing to worry about, and quoted me $100 to replace in the future.2 months later that u-joint caused my drive shaft to fall off, $400 repair at The Family Mechanic. The next day it broke down, the following I had it towed back to them, and it hasn't run since.I need help. I need a lawyer. I need this on the news. Please.Service: Electrical repair

I dropped my car off before 9am and they had it done by the end of the day - as promised. They even checked all my fluids and replaced a bulb at no extra cost! Great value and comparable in cost to other shops. We highly recommend them!

My car needed repair and I was putting it off because I was new to the area and didn t trust just any random mechanic. I decided to try The Family Mechanic and I am so glad I did. My car has never run better. They even fixed an issue I was having with the ignition that I had been struggling with. They are straight forward, reasonably priced, and don t pressure you or try to give you any sales pitches. So I keep going back- even for oil changes.
