Normally I don t write reviews but these guys are exceptional! I was having brake issues with my 2014 BMW 4 series and had it towed to this shop because a friend had a good experience with them. Ben and Mark helped me throughout the process and WITHIN 24 HOURS they had me back on the road. These guys were very personable, very fast, and have reasonable prices too, I will definitely be going back in the future! Best in the Madison area that I ve found in my 5 years here, thanks again.

Let me tell you what a fabulous experience I had twice with McDermott s service. I had a 2006 Ford Expedition with 290,000 miles on it and it had problems. I took it to the Ford dealership and they said I needed to junk it. Well, I decided to get a second opinion and brought it over to Ben and his crew at McDermott s and asked him to give me an honest assessment. Ben came back to me and said the frame was still solid we can fix a few issues and keep it going. And you know what? That was about 3-4 years ago. I just finally junked the Expedition with 372,000 miles on it! I drove it for 4 more years, 82,000 miles after the Ford dealership told me to junk it. How much did that save? Thousands!Fast forward to a couple of months ago. I m ready to replace the 2006 Expedition and so I purchased a 2015 Platinum Expedition from a used car dealer in Kentucky. When I got it and first drove it, I was concerned about a vibration. Thinking it was tires, I had them replaced. Vibration still there. So once again off to the Ford dealer to get an assessment. The service department told me it needs a torque converter and the cost was about $5,000 to replace it. So once again, I got it over to Ben and his crew for a second opinion and Ben comes back to me and said, yes, the vibration is coming from the torque converter. But let s try flushing the transmission fluid first because I ve seen that work in a few instances. So they go ahead with that work and he gives me a call and says, Great news, vibration gone after the fluid was flushed. And now it drives like a dream. Wow. Another $5,000 saved! And that s my fabulous experience with Ben and his capable, honest crew.

I dropped my truck at the local Honda dealer to find out what was causing front end noise. After 3 days with no word, I contacted McDermott s. Ben was able to identify the problem in minutes and put my mind at ease. I highly recommend this shop!!!

We were forwarded to Mcdermotts by another company. We had great experience with them. They provide excellent customer service. They able to get great job done in a timely manner. After the alignment service, the steering wheel feels very smooth. People are awesome here. We highly recommand them certainly.Service: Wheel alignmentService: Wheel alignment

The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, their work is second to none and their prices are honest and fair. I will (hopefully) never need another mechanic because of how fantastic and reliable McDermott s has been.

I've been able to work with a lot of different businesses over the years, but I have never worked with such a wonderful business in my entire life. We had a new vehicle that turned out to have a fair amount of issues. McDermott's was there to help us every step of the way and their service, price and communication was out of this world. It was a pleasure to work with them and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone!

Ok this is a unique post. We took our older vehicle into get looked at. We recieved a quote for repairs. I know that all quotes can vary, so marcus estimate can differ. This being said 2 other sources came in much lower and with very different (but the same as each other) conclusions. Also we got our car back and the passanger seat was covered with rust stains, the front floor and door jam had mud marks. He did call us to say that that he left our car dirty (by accident) and I trusted his statment. He took responsibility.They also had it detailed - the seat only - as the door jam and floor still had mud. He did follow through and was very polite and apopogetic. So since we did not get any work and he did communicate well I do not think it would be fair to go give less than 4 stars. But wanted to share info.

Cars for me are a necessary evil, but the gentlemen at McDermotts are amazing and make me feel so comfortable in and with my vehicle. They are incredibly kind and straightforward, and let me ask all of the questions I want. I don t understand the first thing about cars, and after getting a horribly overpriced quote from a different mechanic a few years ago, I came across McDermotts who actually explained that I could go elsewhere for cheaper and more specialized service, and after taking them up on that recommendation I ve been a return customer ever since. They ve chuckled at my mistakes and gently guided me to correct decisions about my car, remaining incredibly friendly and helpful throughout all of my blunders and misguided requests. I have nothing but appreciation for this team, and cannot recommend them enough. To the women who are looking for a friendly face to explain your car without fear of being overcharged - from one happily-clueless lady to another, please give these guys a visit.

I gave them the specific codes my car is running and asked for a specific service and they demand an overpriced and unnecessary diagnostic anyway. Classic disappointing, scammy behavior; talked to me like I m a woman who didn t know what I was talking about.

This is a good option for getting your Mercedes or import serviced. They seem knowledgeable and honest. I Was able to get an appointment within the week. I would rate the pricing as fair.

McDermott's Service & Repair is highly recommended. They know what they are doing by providing information about my vehicle in terms I understand since don't know much about cars. They have kept my cars up to date on maintenance needs, recommended service without pushing (letting me know what could wait and what may need to be done sooner for safety) Marcus is friendly when calling and gets you in around your needs when able. He is also patient, understanding and knows vehicles especially when you don't know much about vehicles or you don't remember what was recommended the last time. Everyone working at McDermott's is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help get things fixed or done in a timely manner. Ben is a great owner who truly cares about people, service, experience, expectations and his team overall. I ve been searching for a new local repair shop and am very pleased with 2 recent experiences getting my car fixed. The first was a planned visit and Ben assisted. The second I had my car towed in an emergency and Marcus assisted and was helpful in making a very stressful situation a smooth visit. Both are knowledgeable, friendly and were clear about describing repairs needed, as well as making sure I was OK with the price before performing repairs each step of the way. Also, I m happy they take pride in ensuring they install quality parts at a fair price rather than whatever s cheapest. As a female, I value that they didn t talk down to me and worked as a team to allow me to make decisions about my vehicle rather than pressuring for profit.

OK, what repair shop do you have that can service a 2009 BMW, a 2008 Infiniti and a 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter? McDermott's Service & Repair is who we use. These guys are the go to guys for any brand and I've seen them all in their shop (different brands). Fair, integrity, on time. Use em, you won't go back to whomever you used in the past.

Marcus and the team at McDermott s are the best mechanic shop in Madison, hands down. If you want to be a nobody in one of those big name mechanics, look elsewhere.If you prefer the helpful atmosphere of a small-town mechanic shop, this is the only place for you. I found McDermott s and my two vehicles have been cared for since by this professional and customer five star service and parts garage. They stand behind their work and GET IT DONE IN TIMELY manner! Marcus is always up front and informative. I will always take my truck and car here for repairs. I recommend them completely.

I was referred to McDermott by a friend and my first experience was fantastic. They were able to find a screeching noise that I thought was a belt. Turns out it was a valve cover. They also inspected the entire car and told me that everything looked pretty good. (They certainly could have done a lot more work and wouldn't questioned them...) These guys are honest as the day is long...tough to find these days. 100% Endorsement and will be taking my other 2 vehicles to them as well.

Let me say, the people at McDermotts are so friendly and really came through in our hour of need. I was traveling from out of town, and my check engine light came on before our drive home. My car couldn't even get to highway speed, so we knew we were stuck until the repair was complete. I called several garages, and none were willing to squeeze us in except McDermotts (many garages said it would be a several week's wait). Ben called us with updates throughout the process, and patiently answered all questions. He never upsold us any repairs unless he thought they were necessary for a safe trip home. Repairs were completed quickly and with care. I will recommend this place to the family I have in Madison.Services: Transmission, Electrical repair, Transmission repair

Good place to take your vehicle. They provide quality service and repairs for fair prices. Marcus (the person at the front desk) was always reasonable and kind with me.hat said, I am giving 4 stars just because there were two situations where they told me I needed repairs and my mechanic back in NYS didn't agree. The first situation had some wear, but my NYS mechanic said that he wouldn't have replaced the item on his vehicle, but it didn't hurt to replace it on mine. The second however, was a larger repair that my mechanic in NYS flat out said did not need to be done.Given McDermott's reputation with me, I still feel it appropriate to recommend them for services in the Madison area, but for larger repairs, getting a second opinion may not hurt.Services: Electrical repair, Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Oil change

I can't give McDermotts a high enough recommendation. Not only are they great at repairing vehicles but they are an outstanding group of people to work with. I trust the operation so much that they were my first call when I was a Fleet Manager for a small company. Ben was a rock star! Brought my Mercedes e320 CDI in and was having issues with it being in limp mode. He worked me in ASAP, was upfront about all costs and work necessary about my issue. He recommended the best parts to install but understood I was trying to keep my costs low. Long story short, well worth the cost for inspection and appreciate the professionalism Ben showed me. Any future issues I cannot diagnose, I will be coming here. Thanks a lot! Car is fixed!

The people here have blown my mind away and put it at an ease! They WILL receive our business again! After months and months of trusting another shop on east washington with our money and after they rigged our car, we finally chose to have McDermotts take a look at our vehicle. The mechanics are all professional and kind. They want to make sure you understand everything and take the time to explain it to you without talking down to you. Marcus is organized and Ben is super personable. Marcus and team are fantastic. Truly genuinely good people putting customer needs first instead of other locutions that are looking to make extra money by suggesting unnecessary work. I was in a disastrous car situation where I bought a used car with supposedly no accident history. It turned out the vehicle had been in a major accident which led to multiple issues with the vehicle. Marcus respectfully educated me on future do's and don'ts of purchasing used cars (he truly did so with respect which I appreciate as a young female who is not completely ignorant when it comes to cars, but his advice shared was information I was previously unaware of). I was able to get out of the previous car purchase contract and used Marcus's advice on how to best purchase my next used car. When I found another used car I wanted to purchase, I took it to McDermotts to be inspected prior to signing any contracts. Their assessment, findings, and cost of service were all fair and greatly appreciated. I will absolutely be using McDermotts again for all vehicle needs.Service: General repairs & maintenance

We have 4 cars in our family from our beater kids car to my wife's much newer vehicle. Over the years, I have tried out several garages for both major repairs and maintenance always looking for a garage that did good work at fair (and transparent) pricing and provided practical knowledgeable advice about how to approach keeping my family safely operating our vehicles. Marcus and the McDermott's check all those boxes and then some! I had been recommended this shop by another.. Marcus was great, professional, personable, and understanding of the situation and called with very detailed suggestions regarding the diagnostics, and recommendations, explaining what was needed for safety and for peace of mind (even when he might take action on something). Extraordinary!! Excellent customer service. Trustworthy. They ve repaired both my vehicles on several occasions. I expressed that I have precious cargo such as my grandchildren and need to rely on a safe vehicle to drive. They take the time to explain the problem so I ll know exactly what needs repair. They are very accommodating. McDermott s is a thumbs up.

I needed to find a local place in Madison to take my car for oil changes, repairs, and whatever comes up with owning a car. Mc Dermott's Services & Repair Inc has been a great place from the friendly voice that answers the phone, helpful staff, and knowing/building a trusting relationship with the owner/staff. I can say that I don't know much at all about cars and can feel confident about describing problems/sounds my car is making without feeling uncomfortable with lack of knowledge. The staff is really caring about your time, concerns and is able to provide you with information about what needs to get done now or what could be done later. They are always professional in all ways and I have had no issues with services they have provided. I strongly recommend Mc Dermott's Services & Repair Inc.Happy with all service
