Exceptional service and care by the Genin s staff. I had an absolute nightmare of a time with my insurance getting repairs covered and Genin s staff thoughtfully and carefully walked me through it for over a month. This is not just another repair shop. This is the best care you and your car will get in Madison.

This shop chooses to overcharge in exchange for a large service department and great location. I have always been told that you can pick two out of three in terms of service, quality, and price, but $500 in part costs when an OEM part directly from a dealership is $230 is a step too far. If you can spend above dealership prices for the convenience then go for it, just don't expect free inspections, low labor costs, or reasonable part costs.

Took my car in for an oil change, tire rotation, and new battery for my first visit to Genin's. Staff communicated well and work was done well. When a few minor additional things were found during the requested work, they gave me an up-front estimate and completed the additional work the same day. I will take my car to Genin's again.

Quick and easy experience. I call day before and got in next day. I need rewiring of headlights. Lady told me estimate and payment was only 30$ more than anticipated. Would go here again.

I m a college girl who went in for a simple repair. They told me I needed to spend an extra $200 to fix something that didn t need to be fixed and told me my car couldn t leave their lot without the repair. They also changed the price they charged for certain repairs during different visits. Something that was originally $35 ($15 anywhere else) ended up being over $50.Service: Tires

Not only were each of the people we talked to unpleasant they are crooks . Along a $200 minimum diagnosis they asked $350 to install a new battery. I purchased a battery for $130 and installed it in their parking lot in 5 mins.

Rick, Keri-Jo, and all of the other Genin s employees we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. They were transparent about the work and the cost involved in fixing our car. Rick was able to set up a tow to get our car to the shop, and our car is up and running wonderfully a day later. Keri-Jo kept us in the loop the entire time. A huge thank you to all of the Genin s service team! Would recommend!

Genin's got my daughter's car in the same day that I called for service after her brakes failed. They did a full inspection of the car and advised of all the services needed/recommended. We had a full discussion of this and went forward with the services approved. They had her car fixed and back on the road the next day. In this day and age where everything else takes weeks/months, they knocked this out of the park. Keri Jo and the team were awesome to deal with. Thanks for all the help!

I took my car in with a broken shock mount, they charge 180$ per hour of inspection. It took them 30 min to see the issue, ok.However, after I dropped it off they called me, it would cost $872 to replace the shock and the mount. That s a ridiculous amount for such a small repair, imagine if I have a more serious issue on the engine $$$$. Anyways, I paid the 90 dollars for the inspection and took my car out of there. I went to Ford orders the parts (originals) needed $132 dollars in total and took it to my mechanic to fix it, he took 1:10 min in a nice shop to get it fixed.Even if the parts were 300 dollars, 500 for a hour of job seems very outrageous for me.I hope this comment can help you and make you aware of this business before bringing your car in.

To sum things up, I would only use Genin's in an absolute emergency situation with no other option.I brought my car in after seeing smoke billowing out from under the hood. My usual mechanic was booked for the next 4 weeks, and Genin's was able to fit me in that day. They fixed the broken oil pressure switch pretty quickly, and I thought why not knock out a few other repairs while it was in the shop. I had initially asked them to take a look at my front right wheel bearings and ball joint, repair my blowers, and replace both battery terminals in addition to the broken oil switch. This is when some red flags appeared. They replaced the oil lost due to the broken switch, but had not asked me if my car has synthetic or conventional oil. For reference, I drive a high mileage 2008 Subaru Outback, so I use full synthetic rather than conventional oil. They really tried their hardest to convince me that I should switch to conventional oil and needed an oil change. I had done my own oil change the week before, and I had to repeat myself that I do not want conventional oil.The broken switch and blowers were fixed without any issue, but they discovered that there was a problem with the back left wheel, and I approved the repairs. They did not mention any issues with the front right wheel bearings or ball joint. They didn't mention the battery terminals, and I assumed there hadn't been an issue. The next day after work my car would not start. I pop the hood to discover the battery terminals had not been replaced, and were still very corroded. I called Genin's, now fairly frustrated, and was told that the mechanic "had looked at the terminals" and not seen any issues. I informed them that the positive terminal would not tighten due to corrosion, and was told word for word "well you're just the little expert". At this point I was very fed up with the whole situation. I only brought my car back to Genin's after they agreed to only charge me for the parts since it wasn;t fixed the first time I asked. They replaced the terminals, and then discovered that the underlying issue was the starter. It was now about 4 days before Christmas, and I had no other option than to approve the work at Genin's. They did give a loaner car, which I appreciated.Cut to 4 months later. I brought my car to my usual mechanic for a flat tire, and they noticed that the front right ball joint is in very bad condition . I am beyond frustrated that the joint is in as bad of shape as it is, since Genin's told me they looked at it and didn't mention any issues.Overall the work was done well, but I do not feel like I can trust what Genin's tells me. I got the impression that they assumed I didn't know anything about cars, and told me I needed an oil change and new wipers without actually checking. I was very disappointed and frustrated with the quality of customer service I received, especially after the amount of money I spent. I would only go back if it was my absolute last option.Service: Auto maintenance

Just had my 2005 Pontiac vibe in for brakes and rotors, two new tires, oil change, and transmission flush. Pricing was fair, called on a Monday and was able to get an appointment for that Wednesday. Dropped it off at 7 am before work and my vehicle was ready by end of that day. They sent updates throughout the day via text which I appreciated. They did their inspection and didn t try to argue with me when I declined for them to do some of the recommended work which I planned to do myself (new battery and wiper blades). The biggest selling point for me was that they would use the new parts (brake pads and rotors) I had purchased a few months ago but hadn t gotten around to installing myself. Would definitely go back.

The Genins team really went above and beyond today to help me out with an unexpected issue with my car. They fit me in, the cost was reasonable given the uncertainty of the issue and they eased my mind by taking it out for an extended drive to make sure the issue was resolved. So grateful for this excellent service!

Genin s has kept my 2006 RAV 4 running well for years! When I go there I have the peace of mind that things will be done well and I won t be taken advantage of. (I have not always had that peace of mind with other car care businesses in the past.) And everyone is so kind and does their best to help their clients. I have always had a positive experience here and highly recommend them! Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

This place has hefty price markup on parts and labor and tries to charge you for everything. Use it only if you like dealer-style repair shops.I usually take care of my wife's car and bring it to repair myself. I also have a go-to shop that does good work and charges reasonably, but it is a bit far. We decided to try this shop because it is very close to her workplace, so she can drop it off and walk to work. She dropped the car off on the appointment day and was told at the end of the day that they won't have time to look at it. She brought it again the next day and brought home a bill of $1265 for radiator replacement. It charges $45 for 2.8 QT coolant (you may buy a few gallons with $45), $33 for the radiator cap (a cap, seriously), $532 for the radiator, $50 for unexplained shop supplies, and $375 for labor. It also charges $55 for a cooling system test, $60 for a TPMS check, and $50 for a brake inspection. My wife could not recall that the shop informed her that those checks unrelated to the heater problem we intended to fix were needed and would charge a fee. I have a TPMS diagnosis tool at home and have no reason to use the premium check service there. We also didn't go there for brake service either. For comparison, I recently went to a different shop for my car, and the brake check was free.We also got a few other repair estimates with crazy price tags. A $2000 ball joints replacement with $600 parts and $1300 labor. A $280 for filters and wipers with a $47 air filter, a $27 cabin filter, three wipers for $25 each, and a $20 shop supplies (I wonder why you need it for filters and wipers). The labor for installing filters is $100 (which I can finish in 10 minutes). The front brake and rotor quote was $650.The summary is we went to this shop thinking it was a local father-and-son type store that is honest and does not overcharge you. We were deadly wrong.Reply to the owner's response: As I stated, we would not do those unrelated inspections if knowing there is an expensive cost. The detailed breakdown was not provided before the service which I would certainly ask for, but my wife was taken advantage of because she is not knowledgeable about car. We certainly have disagreement on what competitive price means, and I definitely don't agree $45 for 2.8 QT coolant or $100 for changing filters is. For people reading this post, my lost could be your gain if you learn from my mistake and stay away from this store.

I brought my 2005 Subaru to Genin s because there was a loud whine I assumed was a failing alternator. It turned out to be the drive belt tensioner (belt idler pulley) that was in very bad shape, pretty much frozen. They got the repair done quite quickly and now my car seems practically silent. Thank you Genin s!

Recently our Honda CRV had an oil leak, which we discovered on a Sunday evening, of course. We were able to schedule an appointment online for the next morning, and Genin's had it completely checked out, repaired, and returned to us by that afternoon. They determined it was caused by a faulty oil filter (not installed by them) and charged us $64. This is our second great experience with Genin's this year, and we're thrilled with their quality, service, honesty, and reasonable prices.Service: General repairs & maintenance

They charged me $37 to change out my license plates. They didn t even replace the rusty screws with new ones. I could have bought a brand new socket wrench set and done it myself for less than that. Honestly pretty shocked at their prices.

I needed to have a headlight replaced. They let me come in without an appointment, first thing after a holiday weekend, and replaced my headlight in less than 20 minutes. I was in and out, and the cost was about half of what I expected! Highly, highly recommend Genin's for their excellent and personal customer service.
