Sam is the man!We were mid road trip when we decided to turn in for the night at a local hotel. When we went to continue on our journey the next morning, the van wouldn t start. Our back doors wouldn t even open! I called AAA & kept getting call backs about continued time delays while my family & dog sat in a steamy van while it rained outside our now defunct van.Sam came to us! That s right! On a holiday weekend! He assessed the problem, got us going, we followed him to the shop, continued the work & drove the rest of the 300 mile trip without a hitch! I can t say enough about what a blessing he was!Timely Fair Friendly Competent

Applegate was great! I noticed a screw in my tire and most shops were already closed. I went to Applegate and they patched it up in 15min. Fair prices too.

True lifesaver! We are from out of town (Oklahoma) and were driving into Madison for an event. We were hauling a large travel trailer that was at a campsite about 20 min outside Madison, so the following scenario was kind of a nightmare as we need our truck to not only get home to Oklahoma but also to get back to our campsite to haul our travel trailer home.Our brakes completely locked up as we were exiting the highway into Madison and we somehow made it to Applegate Auto (my husband actually had to push the truck 1/4 mile because it was so unsafe to drive it) as it was the closest mechanic I found on Google maps. This was on a Sunday at 9:30am. We called the number and Sven (the owner) answered and informed us he wasn t planning on being open today but when we told him our situation and he said he d be there shortly.He showed up within the hour and helped us- we were lucky that it was a bolt that had come out of our brakes and he was able to fix it in 45 min. He even checked our other brake to make sure all the bolts were tight as a precaution.We can t say enough about how grateful we are that Sven answered his phone on a Sunday morning and then came and helped us on a day he was planning on being closed. We were in a dire situation and he truly was a Godsend and he was very gracious with what he charged us. Thank you Sven - for as awful as that morning was, you were the silver lining!

When I woke up to a flat tire, they came over immediately. Had it fix in less than and hour and I was back on the road. Super efficient helpful and friendly. They also were a but cheaper than I expected. All-in-all a great shop.

Like many other reviewers, our minivan had issues on a Sunday and of course no shops were open. The car could not be driven before being evaluated. I live four hours away and was in town with neighbors to visit my student daughter. SO thankful that Applegate Auto came right away to tow our car, promptly fixed the issues, and we were on the road home that night. Thank you for the great service, and for saving these visitors who were very grateful to get back home!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Sven and the crew at Applegate really went above and beyond when my car broke down recently. They were personable, prompt, forthright, and reasonable. I am very happy with the work that was done and would highly recommend these fine folks!

I was in Madison on my way home when my alternator died while I was driving on highway 12 very late Friday night. Sven at Applegate Auto literally saved me by taking my car in on a Saturday when no one else would. I got turned away by Firestone and Tires Plus after they said they could work on my car, but then once my car was towed there they said they wouldnt get to it until Monday. I don't live in Madison, in fact I live hours away. I called so many mechanics trying to find someone who would help me, but no one could. When I explained my situation he got me in right away and started working on my car. I was back on the road and on my way home in two hours. Thank you, so so much for getting me back home!

Had a breakdown late on a Sunday while away from home. Called for a tow and the tow company recommended Applegate. I was skeptical, but desperate! Called ahead and spoke to Jesse who met us and said he could look at the car early the next day. He was really professional and caring of our situation. We left and waited for his call. Early the next day, Jesse called and said his initial thought was correct about what the problem was (ruptured power steering fluid line) and quoted a very reasonable price. 2 hours later he called to say the work was complete.Such a relief to be treated with such great service and honesty! Don't let the exterior of the building scare you off. Quality work at a fair price is what this place is about. Thanks, Jesse for your help!Service: Steering & suspension repair

On our drive from MN to Madison this last Saturday the muffler on my car fell off about 15 minutes to Madison. I frantically searched for an open mechanic on a Saturday at noon and called Applegate - who said they would check it out. We dropped off my car and THREE hours later my car was fixed at a reasonable price with a new muffler!! They literally could have told us to pay any price, as we needed to get home the following day, but they didn t. I could not recommend this great service any more! Saved our short trip and were able to celebrate our friends engagement without the added stress over the car.

They were one of the only shops in the area open on a Sunday. I desperately needed new rear brakes before work on Monday, and they were able to turn it around in about 25 hours, due to the parts not being available until Monday morning. I really appreciate the shop being accommodating and the affordable price.

We broke down on the road in Madison,WI on the way to Col. We called the shop and were asked to bring the truck by. Within 24 hours we were back on the road! We were given a ride to our hotel on top of the good service. We would definitely recommend Applegate to anyone. Friendly quality, fair priced service. I was out of town in Madison Wisconsin and my dashboard lights went on.I bought a new battery somewhere else, but my car actually needed an alternator. They were open on Sunday and got the repair done that day so I could get home that night. They did such a great job and I'm so thankful.

I recommend Applegate Auto to anyone in the Madison area. Sven is reasonable in prices and the few times I have been there, they have been working after hours on my vehicles (and I'm sure many others!) Each time, he had the vehicle ready that evening or the next morning.They are friendly, fast, and efficient. I couldn't ask for a better place to bring my cars.From my first visit, they earned my trust and my business. As the years have past, I know that if something is wrong all I have to do is call or bring it by. They are there everyday! You will not regret going here.I've read through some of these reviews about people being overcharged or "treated like crap" I can't honestly believe they are talking about the same place. I have always been treated with respect.When you bring in a car and neither party has a solid idea of what's wrong with it, they will ask you for a limit to not go beyond for repairs or you have the option to have them call you before they do anything at all. Either way, Sven has always called me, (usually several times because I'll leave my phone on silent) just to update me on what was going on and where the price was going. I don't know where the people who are saying different are going or what they are doing but this does not sound like something that would happen at Applegate.

This place is the shiz-nits. Had major tire malfunction at halfway point during road trip and too far from destination to continue on donut spare (wife and kids were with me). TiresPlus, DiscountTire, Midas, plus several others were all fails - none could fix a tire or even could sell and install 4 new ones without at least a 3 day wait. This independent shop saved my arse.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

Had my car towed there after it broke down since my apartment won't let me fix it in the parking lot. Their prices were really reasonable for the minimal amount of work that needed to be done and they had a really quick turn around time. 10/10 would recommend them to anyone. They are a good group of down to earth mechanics.

Wednesday, 01/6/2021, my late-model GM SUV had an unexpected flat in my driveway -tire was even off the rim. Applegate drove out w/ tools,removed & took the tire & rim back, and ordered four new tires. They came back & put one tire & rim on and drove it back to install the other three. Prompt, polite & professional. Also the transaction was competitive to Internet sites on tire prices. I am a happy camper ! Thanks, Sven and crew !Service: Tires

a very difficult problem to diagnose so it took a couple try;s to get it right but they got it to run perfect with no extra charge. A little hassle on my end but so worth it. I'm not one to give 5 stars unless it's very deserved, but this has been the one shop I know I can rely on time and again. I have brought many cars here all in rough shape, they're fixed up quickly and then run very well afterwards. More over these guys stand behind there work, I had a issue once with a used tire I let them know and promptly they got a new one under warranty for me. I am a truly happy customer and recommend them!

A friend recommended this place to me, and I gotta say, it's a good place to go! Many people that live close by, take their vehicles there. The owner is a real nice guy. Willing to work with ya if you need. Prices are very fair and the work is good! And the owner does his fair share of dirty work too! Not hiding out in a back office, counting his money. Highly recommend as I haven't had any bad experiences, and everybody I talked to hasn't either.

I am very happy to have found Appletgate Auto. I trust them with all of my vehicles now. Sven and his son Eric have done outstanding work for my family and I. I have had terrible luck in the past with car mechanics. It was until I took my 1999 Audi A6 to Sven at Applegate Auto almost 2 years ago for a muffler and brake replacement that I realized all car mechanics are not made equal!! They will give you honest pricing and A+ quality work.I'm a customer for life!!!

Applegate Auto Shop is Absolutely the BEST Auto shop I have been lucky enough to find throughout the entire Sierra Foothills area Thanks to a good friends recommendation. I will never take my business elsewhere. I have in the past- and the results were disappointing. Honest, reliable, very experienced and all around great folks who provide great service.

Local businesses are always the way to go. Skip the big chain auto shops if you actually need help. The folks working at Applegate are good people.Applegate helped us out during an incredibly stressful and trying day. They were friendly, accommodating, and fast - they even offered to extend their hours for us when our towed car seemed like it would arrive late. Thank you Applegate Automotive!!Service: Electrical

Called same-day with a hole in my exhaust and a pressing need to get it done before a trip. They cut out the hole, and welded on a section of pipe, and got it back to me quickly. Pricing was reasonable as well.

They are absolutely FANTASTIC! Both of my cars broke down on me within the last month and Applegate has been amazing! They don't overprice or try to cheat you out of money. I came from a small town, Applegate auto has that charm and honesty. If you're looking for a great mechanic LOOK NO FURTHER!

My 18 year old Thunderbird had a gas leak a few days ago. Applegate happened to be one of the only places near me that was open on the weekend. I called them and described my situation, and I decided to have it towed, to prevent further damage to the vehicle and others if it were to combust. They picked up the vehicle that day (Saturday), and Tim called me later that afternoon about the damage, and the cost to replacing one of the fuel lines that had cracked. Tim was great at explaining things to me and made sure that I knew I was paying for a service that would benefit myself and any future owner (for the car being as old as it is). All of Applegate Auto is really great, and friendly. I really appreciate them taking my car in, and getting it back to me in 2 days. I definitely recommend their service.

Drove out to New Glarus in a 2012 Mazda 3 Sport in heavy snow and noticed when I made to leave that some bottom paneling on the bottom of my car was hanging off. Was worried everything would be closed for Sunday and that even if something was open that it would take awhile to be fixed and would be expensive. Applegate got me in immediately, reconnected the paneling to my undercarriage in little over 20 minutes, and charged me $36 for the whole operation. Saved my absolute bacon. True American heroes. Shout-out to Shannon the mechanic for helping us out before his lunch break!

Called on a Sunday to find them open and able to take my vehicle on. Did a great job completing the work same day and was dead on with the approximated quote when discussing the work upfront of the service. Friendly and respectful staff!

They gave my car an alignment with bad ball joints after I expressed my concern that they were bad. After I got my car back it the steering wheel jerked while accelerating. I took it into Zapata Auto to look at it and he said my ball joints and control arms were basically dead. I had those replaced and now I need another alignment. Basically threw away $90 at Applegate.

It was Sunday and all of a sudden the brakes on my 2005 Ford Escape went out. There was nothing open and I was starting a new job on Monday and had no other vehicle. Applegate is close to my house and I remembered seeing the garage doors open on Sundays in the summer. I called and they said I could drop my car off at 10am. By 5pm they had fixed the broken brake line and replace one other one that was cracked and about to burst! Such great service!
