I went here yesterday for my 1st time. I was a little reluctant after reading all the bad reviews, but it's the closest scrap yard. I brought 3 contractor bags of crushed cans for some extra money for the kid's piggy banks. I followed the obvious sign of where to drop cans off. After getting the guys attention he had me dump the cans on the belt, and gave me a paper with some scribbling on it. Took it to the drop box at the main office which has a sign, and drove off with about $25. I've been to some scrap yards that were more personable, but they weren't rude and it was an easy transaction, so I can't complain. I'll be going back.

Owner Bernie Smits is a braggart and full of himself. I patronized this place once, despite the negative comments, which proved true. All I wanted to do was drop of bags of aluminum cans. Rude staff, poor directions as to where to go and what to do. Staff seems to not enjoy being there; I would surmise this is a trickle-down effect from having to work for Smits. The owner also owns Pedal Pushers Antiques in Denmark. While I enjoy antique shops of all kinds, I was given his number by staffers to contact him about railroad artifacts and he was quite rude. Items in the store are mostly overpriced and stock seldom changes. BUT---Smits bragged to my face about how the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad (now Canadian National) ran through the backyard of his salvage yard and how he had stolen stuff off the railroad after derailments!! WOW!! Can't believe someone would say this publicly, much less do it! Having seen items from both RRs in his shop, I would be VERY WARY about selling items to Smitty's, as well as buying items here, or at the antique shop!!!

Had the wrong part when called for alternator, then today decided to return the alternator and was refused a refund and was told the alternator was never purchased from this business even tho I had brought a receipt. If you want New/Used parts go to Mommaerts Auto! Great prices and will refund for un used parts!!

I stopped going here years ago. Terrible attitudes. Do you like feeling unwelcome? If so then go here

I like the location of the scrap yard. The guys are all grumpy and rude - thats OK to a point - we all have issues, right? After several visits I just can't deal with the place. When I bring brass, aluminum and the like to the scale, every piece is looked over and anything that is not absolutely perfect is "breakage". OCD. I'm tired of getting yelled at for looking at things in the yard that are presumably for sale and even being accused of dumping items that were already there. When checking out I get some cash pushed and me a slip of paper with some scribbles - I have no idea what I'm being paid for. Life is too short, guys. Change your attitude or find a job you like.

This place was and is nothing short of horrible. Upon entering the business, which is highly unkept and very unprofessional looking, I was greeted by a woman who I believe was the daughter of the owner. She instantly was very stand-of fish to me when I asked a few questions. Just when I thought it couldn t get worse, the owner also came by to pick up where the daughter left off. I m not sure that I ve ever met two more rude, unfriendly, angry and unprofessional people. If you read this review, go anywhere else but here, you won t regret it.P.S. In order to leave a review, I had to leave at least one star. They deserve 0 or less...

Smittys daughter and the other B**** have no customer service. They refuse to give a bill of sale on my salvage and refuse to give me a copy of my title when I came back. I have a IID and the dmv won't accept copys. Wonder what kind of tax fraud is going on here that they don't give out a bill of sale

Good experience! Sold them my car yesterday -- they came and picked it up in the snow, just 20 minutes after I called. With all these awful reviews I was kind of dreading calling, but I talked with 2 or 3 different people over a couple of days, and each of them were totally nice, as was the gentleman who came to my house. I work in customer service, have been trained on it regularly for years, and these folks were all great to talk to.

I decided to haul a pick up truck load of scrap metal to make a little cash. I pulled in and started unloaded the metal by hand. The owners son told me to get out of the bed of the truck he wanted to use the magnet. Long story short he picked the metal out of my truck bed picked it up 8ft released all the metal on top of my truck. Costed me a 1000.00 deductible to fix my truck. I think it might be cheaper to have sent the scrap metal to china using fed ex. I d highly recommend going else where..

I stopped to sell my aluminum cans, as they do pay well and I am glad there are places willing to buy what is essentially my garbage. Whereas I did one guy very rude and impatient, they were busy and had alot of trucks and cars going in and out but still they had me in and out in 10 minutes and there was no waiting as there were 2 guys working in that section. The cashier was courteous. Basically I went because they pay good money for aluminum and they did that. Nevertheless, I most likely will not go back there since they gave an impression they could not have cared less if I patronized them.

I called asking if they had any passenger side mirrors that would work for a cargo van, and they asked for the usual things: make, model, and year. I informed the man on the phone that it wasn't necessary as I was just going to be replacing it again once I got back to Knoxville TN, but he cut me off mid-sentence with a rather rude tone repeating the questions: "Year??? Make??? Model???"As long as that is how people are treated over the phone who are just asking a simple question, I will NOT be recommending them to ANYONE in the future.

I have come here many times for car parts and batteries and have never been treated with as much disrespect as I just was by some old moustached man sitting on his behind answering phones. I told him I had my battery downstairs and he proceeded to in a condescending tone tell me "I don't know what kind of car you drive. So I told him, I then tried to explain to him that the battery was Downstairs and he ordered me to sit down and he'll find me a battery." I proceeded to sit and stated "That was unnecessary." To which he replied without getting a response from whoever he'd asked for a battery from, "Ma'am we just sold the last battery, Have a nice day." I will NEVER come here again. And I will be sharing this experience with everyone I can. Thanks for nothing Smitty.

Absolutely the worst bunch of a holes I have ever had to talk to! Not only did I "interrupt his lunch" but there was apparently no garbage to put the bags after he was done with the cans but stood there and made sure I didn't just toss them on the ground! The attitude of these people is freaking ridiculous and I will never be going back!

I called to see if they had a part I needed. They had it but I still ended up waiting for 45 minutes while they went and got it. Apparently they couldn't find the part right away. While waiting in the filthiest waiting room, I was serenaded by the two men behind the desk's discussion about hunting. Literally every other word they spoke was a swear word. After I got the part and installed it, I found I had misdiagnosed what was wrong with my car. I called to see if I could return the part as I had no use for it. The man said they had a no return policy and then proceeded to explain that I should have had a professional look at it before I "went and threw a bunch of parts at it". Now I'm fine with not taking the part back if its in your policy, but it is in poor taste to patronize your (now) ex-customers.Try the other junkyards in green bay before you go here. This one is not worth your time.

Super rude and acts annoyed when you call just to even get details on a motor that they have no details listed. Asked about milage and response was "too old to care about milage take it or leave it" Very professional! Would never recommend to anyone. Upon ending the phone call i said thank you for your time and smitty hung up on me. Take your business and time else where they dont seem to care about either one.

These reviews are NO joke! I just called them for the first time, guy that answered the phone was rude, couldn't be bothered to answer my questions, and then hung up on me when I asked for his name so I could come by and see the part. I do not know how places like this stay in business. I'm a small business owner and I'm held accountable by my customers and value them. Unreal!

Called and ordered a body part. The business represented it as a good part with no damage. The part arrived damaged and missing pieces. Called to address these issues and they were rude and not willing to do anything. They want to charge a restocking fee if I return the junk part they sold me. STAY FAR AWAY THIS BUSINESS! THEY ARE SCAMMERS. THAT IS WHY THEY DONT EVEN HAVE A 2 STAR GOOGLE RATING!

Well from all the bad reviews, one would think this salvage place is owned and run by ogres. I've only been there twice and long ago so don't know if the same owner(s) are there yet, although both times weren't as bad as described by most.Once with a buddy to get a carb for his old Toronado and brake parts for my old truck. They had a Porsche 911 engine in the office there along with stuffed animals that we were talking about. Having been a bear hunter with a rug myself, the conversation went along for about half hour or so until the parts arrived at reasonable price.Second time was there, maybe five years later, with my grandmother to bring in her aluminum cans. They were about to close shop and simply asked "How many bags?" I said five and they just gave gramma double cash what was probably worth.I think the deal is, is that these guys might be rude to some, although they do good business with others. They must be doing OK to keep alive.

My boyfriend and I went there yesterday afternoon to trade in his old clutch and radiator for money, a CLUTCH and a RADIATOR DOES NOT TRADE IN FOR $1.75. However he did walk away with the money because he didn't want to start anything with them. Their intimidating. Also I don't want to say it had anything to do with my boyfriends ethnicity, but I'd be lying if I told you I thought otherwise, and I'm not usually one to judge. Just don't go here.

Went here to drop off scrap metal. Went up to the office to collect my cash. Fat man with a white beard proceeds to insult me about my vehicle headlights. I tell him great way to run a business, he says grow up. From now on, I'll drive across town to get rid of my scrap. Never going here again. BTW, fat man, if you read this, my lights have never bothered anyone, and the only reason you didn't get knocked out is because you aren't worth an assault charge. One day though, you'll something to someone with less self control. I'll laugh when I read about it in the paper.

Was looking to get a replacement part for my vehicle, the staff on site was not friendly or welcoming. It s a scrap yard, I get it but common business practice says when a customer walks into your business you generally welcome them or at least ask them what they need... their part prices are very cheap which is nice but they only sold a whole assembly, not the part I needed.

Went in with rotors, came back out with cash. Little interaction with people. Person taking out rotors didn't care to mind keeping my car clean but oh well, I'll have to vacuum it later. Otherwise quick and easy.

Horrible place to deal with. Upon calling they seemed annoyed I was calling with attitude right off the bat. I was looking for a body panel, which was list online they have and was told they dont do any body panels. Thought that was weird for a salvage yard. Asked them what parts they do sell and he mumble something and hung up on me. Worst customer service and they dont seem to care, there rating reflect that. Not sure how places like this stay in business. Recommend going elsewhere for any used parts
