We stayed at Thorp House this past summer in the Finch cottage. We were so impressed at the attention to detail and how perfectly renovated this space was. It was so cozy, comfy and sweet, I only wish we would've stayed longer than 1 night. We hated to leave! On our way out, we popped into the Inn and tried to quickly soak it all up...the decor, the history, the charm...and we had the opportunity to meet Matt, the owner. He takes great pride and care of this beautiful place, it was truly our honor to stay there, and to be supporting a veteran owned business as well! Great location! Walkable to the cute downtown and water!

Just beautiful! Every detail is wonderful here! We stayed New Year's Eve, and the place looked wonderful from the room to the downstairs area. I wish we had done more downstairs. There's a large bookshelf with classic books and a fireplace and a fridge with snacks. And a great reading area to just rest. The Emma room we stayed in has a great jet tub and skylight, with just a fun old timely feel, because much of it is actually old. Word of advice: don't be tempted to just lay in bed and watch SpongeBob, explore the place.

We had a wonderful stay for the Progressive Dinner weekend. Rooms are very well maintained and the staff is great (including Matt the owner). Breakfast was delicious with good portion sizes, breakfast burrito one day and a quiche another day with a scone and fruit both days as well. If you are not a morning person like me, they will make you a tray to bring breakfast to your room. We stayed in Eliza which is right next to the kitchen. I was worried it would be loud but we didn't hear a thing. Eliza is a quaint little room, perfect for two people who will not be spending too much time in there. We have already re-booked for the progressive dinner next year, and I would not hesitate to stay here again! Highly recommend!

We ve been coming to Thorpe House for the Holiday Progressive in December for a few years and enjoy our weekend every time. We love that we can spend an enchanting weekend with our good friends visiting the stores and enjoying delicious food and drink. The rooms are clean and well curated, the food is delicious and we always have great service. Thank you, Matt, Caroline, Halie, and Mia for another terrific weekend!Noteworthy details: Decor is beautifully curated and the most delicious chocolate chip cookies!

It was our first time in Door County and after much research I found the town of Fish Creek and the Thorp House Inn. Neither disappointed at all. Every day of our trip, we kept saying, "Next time..." We would stay here again in a heartbeat! We absolutely loved the beautiful room, the property, the amazing cookies!, breakfast on the porch. One of our favorite things about the Thorp House Inn was the location. Being one block off the main street was the best location ever. We started and ended each day with a walk around town and to the beach. Our goal was to not drive our car when in Fish Creek and we were absolutely able to do that from this location.Rooms: The room was just as pictured. No detail was missed in this space. We stayed in the Emma room, and just wow. Stunning.Nearby activities: Countless restaurants, shopping, the marina, the beach (with wonderful bathrooms), free parking everywhere you go, and that's just in Fish Creek. Duplicate this same sentence for every town in Door County, each having their own flavor, but absolutely beautiful, accessible, and welcoming.Safety: We never were concerned for our safety or our property once. Felt completely safe and comfortable in the Inn and in the town.Walkability: Being able to walk to any restaurant, shop, the beach, or marina in less than 5 minutes was a dream.

Couldn t recommend this place more! My wife and I loved everything about our stay here. Matt and Caroline took great care of us, served good food for breakfast, and knew the area well to give us recommendations about what to do. The only thing I would suggest is staying in one of the bigger rooms if you aren t a light packer when you travel, but everything about the inn is very nice and clean.

Sublime! We started going to Door County a few years ago and since then, we visit every few months, trying out different places - inns, Air B&Bs. while they ve all been nice, Thorp House is now my favorite. The house itself is gorgeous. I felt like I was stepping back in time as i walked in. It s beautifully furnished, elegant and still has mod cons that fit seamlessly with the mood and decor. We stayed in the Jessie suite which had the most comfortable (and beautiful) bed, a view through the trees to the water and gas fire which was great as the temps were in the teens and a spa bath (which is always nice on a chilly day). The owner, Matt, was very welcoming and helpful, as were the staff. We didn t avail ourself of breakfast beyond coffee (which was very good) but enjoyed perusing the books in the library and the welcoming wood burning fire in the mornings. It really was a lovely experience from start to finish.

This was our first time staying here. We were greeted by Matt, the owner, and he showed us around and took us to our cottage. My husband and I stayed in the Dove cottage and it was so cute, quaint, cozy, quiet and comfortable with lots of character! Took us back in time to days gone by; much simpler times! We felt right at home! Attention to all the little details did not go unnoticed. We had a great weekend getaway and will definitely be making a return trip again soon! Highly recommend.

Girl's Weekend in Fish Creek was outstanding in part due to our stay at the lovely Thorp House Inn and Cottages . We nooked the Lark Cottage which was ideal as it was a 2bedroom with 3 beds for the 3 of us. The cottage was decorated beautifully with comfortable furniture, extremely comfortable beds, nicely equipped kitchen area and a gas fireplace in the lovely living room.We popped into the Inn for a peak and it was absolutely charming. Those who want the bed and breakfast experience should definitely take a look at the rooms offered there. We were walkable to all that Fish Creek has to offer and only needed our car to explore the rest of the peninsula. Highly recommend walking down the hill to Skaliwags for dinner!Great stay. Looking forward to visiting all 4 seasons with a stay at Thorp House Inn and Cottages.

I don't even know where to begin, so we'll just start from the beginning :) This was our second trip to Door County. First time in Fish Creek. Matt was an AMAZING host. He called to tell us we could have an early check in if we'd like. When we arrived, he greeted us and gave us a tour of the Inn. We stayed in Eliza which was perfect for my wife and I. It was quaint and cute and had everything we needed! My wife is an interior decorator, so she was oooing and ahhing over all the little details that made it feel like home. Also everything was super clean! Each night we fell asleep in a very comfy and clean bed. *We also were blessed to see 3 different sunsets at Sunset Beach Park, a short walk from the inn. A must see!The next day we were greeted by more wonderful and welcoming staff for breakfast. They were very nice and served us as well as all the other quests in a timely manner. The fresh fruit, coffee, juice, scones, muffins, quiche, and the breakfast burritos were a nice amenity to have alongside a great inn! The pantry was nice to have during the day if we wanted an extra coffee, some cookies, or a soda.Later that day, Matt greeted us again on the porch and we had a great conversation with him about the history of the inn and then he gave us superb recommendations for food, wineries, and sightseeing. So in case you don t get a chance to discuss with him, here you go! Blue Horse Beach Cafe is a short walk down the street for an easy lunch and coffee. Bayside Coffee is another great option for much of the same. Both were great! For dinner, we traveled south to Egg Harbor. Mezzanine was a great choice for delicious food, cocktails, and a view of the bay from the rooftop. Fireside was another yummy restaurant with Cajun influence and a perfect assortment of dishes to choose from. As far as wineries go, don t even mess around with anything else but Stone s Throw Winery. An easy 10 minute drive and well worth it for Napa Valley grapes that were bottled in Door County. The tastings and shareable food fare made this a must stop for us next time! We were not disappointed in any of the places Matt recommended!Overall, if I could give this more stars, I would, but a 5/5 shall do. We will certainly be back, but more importantly, we know where to send family and friends when they visit Door County in the future! :) Thank you Matt!!!

My husband and I loved every second of our time staying at the Thorp House. We stayed in the Emma room and loved that it was tucked back at the end of the hall. The owners are lovely and accommodating, the house itself is immaculately taken care of and extremely charming, and the breakfast each morning was delicious. Of all the places to stay in Door County, I am so thankful we chose the Thorp House. We can t wait to go back!

My husband and I came to the Thorp House to celebrate our one year anniversary. It was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast, and they definitely set the bar high! Everything was perfect. The house is beautifully decorated and well maintained. It is absolutely immaculate! Both Matt and Darlene are wonderful, so accommodating and extremely friendly. We did not want to leave and cannot wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed in the Thorp House while on our honeymoon, and we would highly recommend! We stayed in the house in the Maria room the first couple of nights and moved to Finch Cottage for the end of the week because of the availability when we booked. We would recommend either! It was nice to be in the house with the Maria to get the yummy breakfast and chat with some of the other guests. The cottage was also a good feature for the end of the week mostly to be able to take a break from eating out.The Thorp House location is awesome as well! It is a quick walk (<2 minutes) to the heart of downtown, and Fish Creek is a great town to base the Door County experience in.Nice people, good food, wonderful facility, cool history, and ideal location!

Stayed in the Wren cottage this past week. Cottage was extremely clean. It had everything we needed. Even had ice cubes in freezer. It was nice sitting on the deck in the morning. I love the location of Thorp as it is in walking distance of shopping and restaurants. The owners introduced themselves and were very friendly and helpful. They do an excellent job of running this place. I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at the Thorp House Inn twice and both times were lovely. The inn itself is clean, beautiful, and feels very homey. There was a fire in the fireplace right as we walked in the door, and there are rocking chairs on the porch. Although you can't see the bay from the inn, the water is less than a block away to walk to.The first time I went with my boyfriend and it was a peaceful, relaxing, romantic trip. I loved it so much that I came back my myself for a restoring getaway and that was wonderful too. The breakfast is healthy, tasty, and filling. The hosts go out of their way to make you feel valued and comfortable. I would not change anything at The Thorp House Inn!

Our experience at Thorp House Inn was just what we hoped for quiet, serene, and romantic. The whole house is beautiful and charming, with a great location just a few blocks from shops and restaurants. We stayed in the Everil suite which has its own staircase/entry, comfy king bed, large jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace, and was immaculately clean. The breakfast served each morning had a variety of delicious options, and they went out of their way to accommodate our vegetarian diet. The owners and innkeeper were friendly and helpful. Matt provided a recommendation for dinner (Barringer s, 3 min walk) which turned out to be a fantastically delicious meal. The communal areas were lovely as well, and we found the guest pantry with Keurig machine, refrigerator, microwave, and little treats each afternoon was very thoughtful. We have already talked about making a stay here our new annual tradition!

If you are wondering whether or not to book a night (or four) at Thorp House, the easy answer is YES. This beautiful and historic inn is adorable, quaint, and exactly what you've been looking for. From the moment you walk in you're taken back to a simpler more relaxed time. Every detail is thought of for you. If you're looking for a romantic weekend getaway, you've found the spot to stay. We stayed in Lillian (which is their smallest room) but we didn't mind at all, it was just what we needed. There is so much to do in Door County that we were barely there during the day and in the evening we were invited back to warmth and comfort.I can't say enough about the owners, Matt and Darlene. They are SO sweet. They make sure their guests are completely taken care of. Darlene said she wants her guests to be able to forget about the stress of the world when they stay there and as a guest YOU DO.The breakfast that comes as a part of staying at the inn is delicious, the coffee is hot, and the room you eat breakfast in is the room you never knew you needed. You may even meet some other travelers along the way as it's hard to not make friends with the other guests!Book a weekend here, you won't regret it.

We can't recommend this place strongly enough. You will not be disappointed! The property is beautiful as is the building along with every room therein. The rooms are very well equipped and so full of charm. Breakfast is tremendous! The staff and service is second-to-none and good service is becoming increasingly hard to find. The staff was completely spot-on with reading the various guests want for interaction. My girlfriend and I spent quiet time with each other in the common areas but we were able to get Matt's and Lauren's full attention at any moment to answer questions about the house or activities in the area. They were so eager to help while also respecting guests' privacy. We will be staying there again this summer without a doubt.

We visited the Thorp House for the first time this year. We typically stay at more of a hotel/motel type setting so this was our first time at a bed-and-breakfast. I really enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and we felt very comfortable. I really enjoyed the daily breakfasts and being able to enjoy them outside on the porch/in our room on the balcony. The food was all very fresh; locally baked delicious muffins/breakfast sandwiches/quiche in addition to fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice. Everything was had was delicious. With Covid, we had to limit the number of people in the kitchen but I actually preferred this as it allowed for more of an intimate experience and quality time with my husband. As far as the room, we stayed in the Everil; I had my eye on this room for a long time and had to wait a few years to finally time our booking early enough to get it. It was recently upgraded to a king size bed which was great, very comfy and super soft linens. The room had its own entrance off the guest pantry area; the privacy of having our own entrance was great as well as our own private balcony but we did hear quite a bit of noise from the guest pantry when people were passing through/grabbing coffee/using the fridge/etc Having access to plates/dishes/glassware was a nice perk as we often enjoy a bottle of wine in our room. I also enjoyed the fireplace in the room; great place to curl up in an armchair and read a book by the fire.I hate to say anything negative because the owners and staff were great and are clearly committed to their guests having a good experience but I do have a couple suggestions. The size of the bathroom in our room was very small (which we expected) but the choice of having a glass shelf right over the very small shallow sink was challenging. I appreciate the effort of providing more storage but due to the sink being so shallow/only sticking out about 10 inches from the wall, having the glass shelf protruding out over the sink made it very challenging to brush your teeth, wash your face, etc You pretty much had to crouch down to get your head under the shelf and stand sideways. I hit my forehead on it more than once. It was also difficult to find places to hang our towels to allow them to dry. The towels were very nice; thick and soft, but due to only having one towel bar, they didn t dry well and there really wasn't anywhere else in the room to hang them. Maybe moving the robes off the door hooks/into the closet would allow for more efficient storage/more towel space. Our biggest concern was the skylights in our room. We are unfortunately not early risers like many others in Door County and subsequently did not sleep well due to the light waking us up. I appreciate the eye masks offered in the room, but I wish there would have been a shade/remote activated blinds/etc of some kind to block the light since they were right over the bed. I ve stayed at other hotels that have utilized blinds that you can open/close with a long pole/stick that is left in the room; might be something to consider.Overall we did enjoy our stay at the Thorp House and I appreciate the hospitality of the owners and staff. They are very kind people and work hard to make this a beautiful place to stay. The staff and food were great, the room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable, but with the noise/light/experience, we may ultimately choose to stay elsewhere or maybe try a different room where we can have a better night s sleep.

This was my first trip to Door County and the Thorp House was the perfect place to stay! A very charming and quaint B&B in Fish Creek - We stayed in the Maria and the decor was beautiful as was the rest of the house. The furnishings throughout took us back to a different era; reading the books and looking at pictures made you feel as though you've stepped back in time. From the moment you walk on the front porch and through the front door the relaxing atmosphere calms you and welcomes you home! We'll be back this fall...

This was my fifth consecutive year of going to the Progressive Dinner hosted by Thorp House Inn and the White Gull Inn. I travel from Denver to get there - that's how great the experience is. The guest rooms in the Inn are extremely nice but I love the privacy of the cottages. And what has really impressed me is the renovation project that the owner, Melanie Camp, is doing with them. Each cottage (and I've stayed in the Lark and the Dove) are having the kitchen updated and gas fireplaces installed. They were nice before but the changes are amazing. Can't say enough good things about the staff - very friendly, always trying to make sure you have a great experience. I've traveled extensively and Thorp House Inn is a find. And for a really unique experience try the Progressive Dinner Weekend (they have four of them) during the Holidays.

We stayed in the cottages which clean, comfortable, and included numerous amenities. Outside, they all have a patio or deck, equipped with a table and charcoal grill. The property is a short walk to the public park, beach, marina; and multiple shops, bars, and restaurants.Great views of the sunset from the nearby public pier at Sunset Park.

We came to Fish Creek to celebrate our 40th anniversary and booked the Eliza room at Thorp Inn. The room and Inn was immaculate. Comfy bed and delicious breakfast. Matt, the innkeeper was friendly and professional. Even called us to say our room was ready early. Emilio helping with our bags and serving our breakfast, provided friendly customer service.

The moment we opened the front door, we were blown away! The authenticity and charm of this early settlers home, along with many modern conveniences made for a perfect stay. Our room, The Jessie, was large and so well appointed...gas fireplace, whirlpool tube, flat screen TV, hi-speed WiFi and the most comfortable bed! A view of the bay and only a very short walk to the town center.Melanie and Lauren were the managers during our stay. Both very congenial and informative but never over whelming. Both were great. And each morning one or the other hosted a hot breakfast along with fresh fruit and pastries! We will be back year after year!

Very nice clean and cozy. We stayed in Finch cottage. Very clean, bed was great. Perfect for 2. Great location in Fish Creek, only 1 block from downtown. Now if we only had a view of the lake it would be perfect. We will be back.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in a Thorp House cottage and couldn't have had a better experience. The cottage was clean and cozy, and the location was the stuff of legends. The cottage and BnB is within walking distance to EVERYTHING downtown! 10/10 -- totally recommended. Fish Creek is the place to stay in Door Country and these cottages are great!
