Busy with a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected during applefest. They offered buzzers or a phone call to let us know a table was ready, very convenient. We took a short walk around Bayfield and came back. Food was excellent, the trout dish was very good. The mushroom pasta was tasty, earthy and rich. Service was good. For the high quality of the food prices were reasonable to good.

Quaint very nice restaurant in Bayfield. Exceptional host who directed us to a heated patio while we waited for a table, checked in with us frequently. Our service was prompt and server was awesome! We had the chowder and whitefish with saffron rice for dinner. Food was tremendous, would highly recommend!

Wonderful meal on a Wednesday evening in mid-June. Surprisingly, we had no wait at 6:30 pm. We enjoyed a very moderately-priced bottle of wine, a garlic cheese bread appetizer and then each had an entree of pasta. My chicken linguini in Alfredo sauce was delicious. Generous portion of grilled chicken breast and perfectly-cooked pasta. Other entree was a wild mushroom pasta and equally tasty. Good-sized portions with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Nice inside decor and friendly staff.

Stopped early for dinner with not wait for a table. Had the smoked trout crostini with lemon sauce. Had a light smoke flavor and crispy bread. The tortellini with beef tips was nicely flavored and the mushroom pasta was good. Dessert was a huge piece of carrot cake and a chocolate marquis with ice cream. Service staff were friendly and prompt.

I was so happy to be able to get a gluten free pizza for carry out. GF crust is what it is, but the garlic olive oil sauce, fontina, asparagus and prosciutto toppings were simply delicious. The place is hopping busy but the staff go as fast as they can. I had a crisp, delicious glass of French Rose wine at the bar while waiting, along with the soup of the day, a hearty and savory vegetable beef. The ambience is charming and you get a discount if you pay with cash! Would definitely return for a dine in experience next time in Bayfield.

Bad experience dining, rather waiting to dine. Was told it would be an hour, went for a short walk. Came back, decided to wait at the bar. After a while we were Identified correctly as waiting for a table and asked to move from the bar so others could eat. Not offered a meal at the bar but asked to move so others could eat. Hadn't been quite an hour so we agreed, expecting to get a table soon there after. Waited until well past an hour and was still a few spots down on the list. Checked again a little while later and no one was at the host's stand. A server asked if they could help me with anything and I explained my story. They suggested I just wait a little longer. This whole time it was getting closer to the posted closing time and they were still adding folks to the list. I don't know how they were going to seat and serve everyone. Sad that the Copper Trout was recommended to us. Finally just walked out without eating. Very disappointing and poorly managed.

We got dinner to go for 6 people, wanting to enjoy the outdoors and time in Bayfield. All of the dinners were excellent! The whitefish dinners, whitefish sandwich meals and greens were all well prepared, taste on point and thoughtfully packaged for 'to go'. Oh, and the cheese curds were some of the best we've had! Highly recommend!

No wait even though the place seemed packed. Wasn't happy with our table for two that was sandwiched between two other tables in the small dining room but it worked (you can also sit on the porch). I had the special which was whitefish and vegetables steamed in parchment paper. It was fine but I should have went with my first choice. The wait staff was wonderful!

We went on a Tuesday at 5:30, waited about 5 min for a table and were sat down. For an app I ordered the Whitefish Chowder which was a nice, sweet chowder compared to a traditional clam chowder. For the meal I ordered the Grilled Whitefish and it was lovely, a nicely grilled and nicely seasoned piece of tender fish, and the veggies and rice were cooked to perfection.Worth the wait to get a table! Was definitely one of the nicest meals we had in Bayfield!

Delicious! I figured Wednesday at 5pm would guarantee a party of 3 a table and we got the last large table. The whitefish special sauce was great and the chowder was light and well flavored. I'm always a little wary of chowder as they can be very creamy and heavy but theirs is a nice balance between chowder and soup. I had the salad with pecans and cranberries which was also wonderful and my piece of whitefish which I ordered on top was huge. A total bargain for $8 for the fish. I can see why they're always busy.We were there again this last Thursday. We come to Bayfield every August and this is an always stop. Still love the cranberry salad and the fish remains delicious.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday. No reservations, wait was nearly one hour but their pagers allow you to go up to 3 blocks from the restaurant.Service was great. Alicia was friendly and got our order entirely correct.Mushroom bruschetta appetizer and the whitefish cakes were delicious. Whitefish in entrees was mildly fishy tasting. The sausage tortellini was favorite entree of all ordered at our table.Dessert yum. Carrot cake looked to die for and strawberry rhubarb pie was totally delicious. If I could give 4.5 stars I would, mainly because of the fish. For a small-town restaurant, they do an excellent job and food is pretty darn good!

Service was amazing and our food was delicious! We had a group of 8 and were seated in a timely matter. Our server was very friendly and gave great recommendations for food choices. She even brought out a few coloring books for the kids. My only suggestion would be to have some sort of kids menu or smaller portions available. We ended up sharing a pizza and it was delicious.

Stayed in Bayfield for about a week and ate here twice. The 1st time was a last minute decision and I got there about 30minutes before they closed. Luckily they do take away and I ordered a pepperoni pizza to go. The staff was friendly and didn't make a fuss about the lady minute order. It was so good that my boyfriend asked to go back the next day for supper. The waiter was polite and very good at his job. Filled our water glasses and kept them topped off without us every having to flag him down to ask. The food came out and was as excellent as the 1st time we'd had it (we ordered the pepperoni pizza again). The environment there was laid back and cozy. Great for date nights or for relaxing after a day out exploring. I would 100% recommend eating here if you're in the area.

Our experience with The Copper Trout was above and beyond what we expected! Our choice of meals were outstanding. I had the tortellini sausage pasta and cheese curds and my wife choose the wild mushroom pasta with salad and fish chowder soup, neither one of us were not disappointed, it was soooooo delicious and well worth the stop many other menu items to choose from! Enjoy

One of the overall worst dining experiences in a while and we dine out frequently. I have actually never left a negative review but feel this situation is deserving of one. Would have given zero stars if it was an option. A summary: walked in and the very first thing we asked was do you have whitefish? To which the hostess replied, yes, we sure do we had not been able to get it anywhere the day before, so came for that. We were told it was a 30-40 minute wait, but we could only wait outside on the patio mind you it was 55 degrees, overcast, and misting we were still okay with that. After an hour of waiting outside, we came in to check on our table and warm up. The young bartender came over and said his brother (owner?) wants us to wait back outside. Our table was supposed to be ready in 5 minutes so they allowed it but not happily. We later saw others sitting and eating at the bar which was never offered to us as an option. We finally got sat. The hostess said she would bring waters right away but those never came. After 5-10 minutes our server came over. We ordered an appetizer and soups to start. The appetizer came out wrong and our server said, you didn t touch it, right? and took it away to serve to the correct table. We then both ordered whitefish entrees. While waiting for our correct appetizer to come out I could see the staff staring at us and whispering my husband could not because his back was turned. Our appetizer then came out as did one of our soups. When the second soup was brought our server said, I m sorry, but we just ran out of whitefish . By then we just wanted to leave. The owner/manager who wanted us to wait back out in the cold never showed his face. We got our FULL bill and the server said Sorry, well, I do hope you will try us again. It was not entirely her fault she could not help the part about running out of fish but we will definitely NOT be back!

The Copper Trout was recommended by our kayak tour guide. When we saw it was an Italian restaurant, we almost didn't go. I was craving fish from Lake Superior. We walked up, saw the long line, and almost turned around. When we found out we could sit at the bar immediately, we took it! We had great salads, an excellent bottle of Italian wine and a grilled Whitefish pizza, which my Italian wife was very reluctant to try... We loved it!! Would definitely recommend this place if you are in Bayfield.

The restaurant was clean, well run with good service and equally delicious food. I had their special of stuffed shells with sausage, ricotta, parmesan and house-made marinara sauce, My guest ordered their iconic trout dish. Breadsticks with olive oil and balsamic vinegar came out before the meal. Everything arrived in a very reasonable amount of time, and every bite of what we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend, good job Copper Trout!

The Copper Trout was the Best restaurant we visited on our entire week up here. I wish we had come in 2 more times to enjoy more of the menu. Whitefish cakes and the chowder were superb!!! Alycia was fantastic, she answered our questions and her service was excellent!

This place is the BEST. Beautiful space, wildly delicious food, wonderful service. The mushroom bruschetta is divine, the Mediterranean pasta is to die for, the steak on the surf & turf was cooked to perfection and don t get me started on the pizza!! BEST PIZZA IN NORTHERN WISCONSIN hands down!! Go eat here! You will not regret it.

The Smoked Trout Crostini was a perfect start to a delicious meal. The aioli was flavorful but not overpowering of the trout. Everything was well presented. The Wild Trout Madeline was broiled and also very well balanced. Service from the owners son was prompt and friendly. Overall a great experience and someplace we will certainly visit again if we are in the area.

We had a great experience at the Copper Trout last night. They have a nice wine list and interesting menu. Both of us enjoyed the warm bread, whitefish chowder, wedge salad and tortellini/sausage dish. We followed all of this deliciousness with salted caramel cheesecake and apple/cherry pie a la mode. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was truly excellent.

Very nice atmosphere and staff was very friendly with good service. Bummed that they only served wine and beer, but the wine I had was good. I ordered wild mushroom pesto pasta which was very tasty. I was disappointed that for $18 it didn't come with anything else, no salad or toasted bread of some sort. If you want salad, you have to pay extra. Husband had chicken alfredo... alfredo sauce was very bland. 4 stars for atmosphere, friendly service, good wine, and one good pasta dish.

They don't take reservations and it's 5 or 6 blocks from the lake, but it's well worth the walk to get there. There is a good cross section of items on the menu. Some unique items as well as some traditional favorites. Our waitress first started that evening and did a good job. Her trainer also followed up with us a couple times during the meal too. The inside of the building is newly remodeled and has a mix of new and retro decorations. It's a tad on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for. The place is nice, well managed and has a good selection of food. What more do you want in a tourist town restaurant?
