The park is situated on a hill with the section of pull-through sites terraced across the hill. So, with settling, the sites are sloped side to side which makes leveling more challenging and also disconnecting a fifth wheel. But, we managed. The campground was busy but fairly quiet at night. It has a nice location, with easy access to town, nearby sites and the highway. There are laundry facilities scattered throughout the campground. Though my preference would be to have all the equipment in one place so it is easy to do all my laundry at one time. There are many activities geared for families.

Had a wonderful first RV camping trip with our 15 month old and dog. Site 28 was wonderfully shady and well kept. We stayed during the weekdays so I m sure it was quieter than normal but there are campground rules and I overheard the hosts saying they like it quiet and family friendly. That was very nice and relaxing for us! The bathrooms were soooo nice and my husband and I each took turns taking long showers at the end of each day, such a treat and not really to be expected in a campground. Downside, the swimming pond was thick with pollen and had tiny tadpoles all along the shore so we avoided getting in and just played in the sand. Maybe it s better when there are more swimmers and the water isn t stagnant (we were the only ones there at that time). Kind of surprised they don t have a fountain/filter running since it was a treated pond. Overall family running the place was so kind, definitely hardworking. It was fun to see the teens playing such a big part in the business. Keep it up!

We had a great time here! The showers and bathrooms were so clean with lots of warm water! It is the perfect location close to Myers Beach (20 min), a quick one mile walk to downtown Bayfield with great restaurants and fresh smoked fish! Howl Bike Shop has a great little brewery open on the weekends..a great vibe! The campsites were fairly close together, but when we took a walk there were more wooded sites around #34 (cool site). This didn t bother us too much because we were off exploring for most of the days! All in all a wonderful stay!Playground: Loved seeing little kids, and adults, playing together!Restrooms: Incredibly clean, and the nicest people who clean them!Dog-friendliness: Loved seeing all of the dogs!

We had a wonderful time here! It s probably the cleanest campground we ve been to. The owners are great and take pride in the place. The pond was beautiful and a great place to swim since Superior isn t a great alternative, except for a plunge! The mini golf set up is cute and the kids liked it. I was surprised by the cabins, they are really cool and I think we ll stay in one next time. They re themed and basically works of art. Thank you for the great time! 10/10

We loved camping at Apostle Islands Area Campground ! Our site #54 was on a hill and terraced with our campfire ring below . We loved the privacy and the grassy area around us . It was a short walk to the shower house which was always clean with plenty of hot water . This location was perfect . We biked into the town of Bayfield ( easy 1 mile ) . Wonderful shops and restaurants with a gorgeous view of Lake Superior are there . The orchard loop started near the campground and we enjoyed visiting the various orchards and bought fresh apple cider donuts , cranberry apple cider and peaches for our breakfast. We also picked up handmade soaps, pottery and many apple inspired food items. There is a brewery that is walkable as well as wineries and cideries within a short drive . We visited nearby Ashland to view the many blocks of murals . We did a beautiful hike to the cliffs of Lake Superior and enjoyed a day at Little Sand Bay playing with the pups on a dog friendly beach . We had great cell service and tv reception too . We definitely recommend camping here !

We stayed here for the first time for the weekend, we had site 66 and you could see Lake Superior and the island from this site. The space around the campfire ring was not a level but other than that we loved this spot. The bathroom and shower building is very nice and clean and they have a nice laundry. Loved the mini golf and pond. The camp store has just about everything you need. We will probably be back next year.Playground: Kids loved the mini golfRestrooms: Nice new bathrooms with a shower in each one. Very clean and private

We couldn't be happier with our choice to stay at AIAC! The family who runs it are all so kind and helpful, and they go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable! The entire Campground is beautifully maintained and bathrooms/ showers and laundry all very close and very clean! Highly recommend this Campground if you are visiting the Apostle Island Area!! We stayed at site 55 and it was so clean and a nice spot, view of Lake Superior, and even stayed one nite in the pirate ship, it was SO FUN! ( yes, we brought our costumes along for more fun)....very family focused with an incredible mini golf on site too!! Must stay!!!

The Apostle Islands Area Campground is the only park in the vicinity that offers full hookup for RV camping. There is an office with a nice camp store that sells merchandise, ice cream, firewood, and more; a playground for the kids; trash and recycling dumpsters in two locations; an RV dump station; mini golf; a swimming pond with a beach; nine cabins which include six themed cabins; one covered wagon rental; concessions near the swimming pond; two clean bathroom/shower facilities with laundry (indoor laundry facility nestled amongst sites 62-95 has two washers at $3 per load that run about 30 minutes and two dryers at $2.50 per load that run about 45 minutes / outdoor laundry facility with no lighting at night near sites 1-27 has one washer at $3 per load that runs about 30 minutes and one dryers at $2.50 per load that runs about 45 minutes.) The owners are very nice. The terrain is hilly throughout the park. Roads are narrow and not marked well for direction. We feel the park is antiquated and tired in the 1-40 camping areas. Our site was uncomfortable during our stay as it was too small for our RV and tow vehicle. And the website allowed reservations for RVs even longer than ours. The tow vehicle had to be parked six inches from the firepit, which we would not have used anyway since pine branches were hanging four feet from it. Brush and limbs are in dire need of trimming in this area of the campground. We feel the park should better assign or evaluate equipment placed on sites that are not well-suited for equipment. For reference, sites 62-101 are better suited for medium to larger RVs (62-95 are pull-thrus and 96-101 are back-ins), sites 1-27 are back-in and are better for small to medium RVs except for one pull-thru which could accommodate a larger RV, sites 42-55 appear to be seasonal as they have a central mail reception area, sites 28-41 (with 41 being a cabin) are better suited for small RVs and tents. This review is based on our experience only and is not meant to deter future campers from this park. Being full time RVers, we have stayed at many campgrounds. This is not one we enjoyed. We see that most of the reviews are good; we are hoping that this review may assist others in choosing perfect sites so they will enjoy their stay more than we did.

First time campers here. Amenities far exceeded our expectations. The gift shop is loaded with goodies. The RV spot we had was big enough and had a nice fire ring and picnic table. Definitely will return here.

REALLY loved this campground! Camp spots are laid out, so there feels like there is more privacy than other campgrounds. The swimming pond is fun and the themed cabins look like a lot of fun! Playground is... minimal, but we didn't even use it because the tadpoles in the pond were the weekend entertainment. Shower house was clean and seems like it was renovated recently. I wished there was a shelf or surface to put your things on other than the shower stool, though.

I came here with my mom (73 years old) and my 2 kids ( 4 & 7). We stayed in one of the lighthouse cabins. My kids absolutely loved it, especially having the swim pond right outside our door. My mom thought it was a lot of work because we had to bring our own linens and the sand is within steps outside our door so we had to sweep a lot. There is a playground and a mini golf course as well to keep my kids entertained. All in all, I thought it was great!

Another excellent trip to Bayfield! It was exciting to see all the upgrades since last year! The camp store is the cutest with lots of souvenirs & fresh ice cream cones!Site 53,54 & 55 have a small view of Lake Superior. The sites are smaller in my opinion, and not very private, but this campground is a short 1.5 mile walk or bike ride to downtown Bayfield. Can t wait to come back in August!

Our stay was fantastic. We were on site 60 in the newer portion of the campground. We had an amazing view of the pond and Lake Superior in the distance. The sites aren't very private, especially site 60, but the way this place is maintained is exceptional and makes up for it. The bathrooms/showers were very nice and there's laundry on-site. As soon as the 10:00 hour nears it gets quiet and perfectly peaceful! One mile to downtown Bayfield makes it a perfect location as well. We are more of the woodsy type, but wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

They are so nice and accommodating. The grounds are great, well maintained, and they have great things to do for the kids. The pond pool is so cool, and I wish we had stayed in one of the cool and unique cabins! We'll be back for sure.

Such a wonderful campground!! Great communication with owners, very clean bathrooms/showers, sites are well-marked, and so peaceful - especially at night. We were at site 34 and are convinced it's the best one. :) Spacious, 2 levels (one for our pop-up, one for the truck), far from your neighbors, and a little creek in the back. Look no further than AIAC if you're wanting to camp in beautiful Bayfield!

It was our first time to the area, and we were quite impressed with the Apostle Islands Area Campground. It is evident that the campground is a labor of love- the grounds are well-maintained, the buildings are clean (not even any bugs in the showers), and the swimming pond sealed the deal for the kids! We look forward to coming back.

Had such a fantastic stay in the new Rental Cabin! We were greeted and welcomed so warmly when we arrived and every time we went up to the main office building throughout our stay! The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and so cozy! It was everything we hoped it would be and more! It came stocked with everything we needed- we just needed to bring our own linens! I can't say enough good things about our experience here and we will definitely be coming back to stay again!

We stayed 3 nights in Cabin 2. We had a wonderful stay. The cabin area, bathrooms and the entire camp ground were very well maintained and clean/inviting.We have 4 kids and did set up an air bed on the floor in addition to the provided bunk beds to sleep everyone. Our kids really enjoyed the playground and every night the other kids from the campground gathered there to play gaga ball. They didn t want to leave!Quiet hours after 10 pm were respected and enforced. It was very peaceful. The camp store is cute and well stocked with everything you d need. Our kids went for ice cream daily. Wood and ice are readily available all hours. The showers and washer/dryer are coin operated so bring quarters if you plan to use those. The bugs were not bad at all either! We would highly recommend. They are working on adding to the campground and we look forward to returning to see the outcome!

Nice campground. The area is pretty with a good amount of trees, but tons of sites. The pond is nice for swimming. And there's a Gaga pit and little playground that's fun for kids! Nice place!

This was an absolutely amazing place. I can not rave enough about the campground, amenities, staff, views, and more. My family and I had such an amazing time. The beach was so well up kept. The store with all they have to offer, and even amazing ice cream. To top it all off the folks that run it are some of the best people I have ever had the privilege to meet. I recommend this place..... this is a must visit. Thanks for making our trip so great. See you soon!

Loved everything about this campground. The mini golf course is so cute and challenging. Has clean modern bathrooms. Has a store onsite in case you forgot something. The owners are super nice and knowledgeable about the area. We could tell, a lot of thought and hard work went into this campground. Job well done! Will definitely camp here again.

Stayed in the pirate ship and the kids absolutely loved it. There's a swim beach right out of the front door if you rent one of the fun cabins.

Having stayed in numerous unique places to celebrate our anniversary milestones over the years, I was looking for yet another one this year for my wife and myself. We got just that and more with the Covered Wagon Rental in the Apostle Islands Area Campground. The secluded aspect, while still a part of the campground, made it a PERFECT hunker down & relax destination. Offering a little refrigerator and microwave, the Covered Wagon afforded us many opportunities to stay in and enjoy our own cooked meals from its wagon wheel themed table. The site also has its own fire pit for cooking, roasting marshmallows/s mores or just enjoying a crackling fire while underneath a starlit night.Another great amenity is that the Coveted Wagon offers not only its own toilet and sink area, but a very functional shower as well.Owners Zach and Jennifer are such wonderful hosts. We were made to feel welcomed AND appreciated. It felt like we ve known them for years.5 Stars, in my humble opinion, isn t enough for this unique destination rental opportunity.

Great experience at this property and with the new owners. Would definitely stay again, especially given the obvious commitment to improving the park. Location was great, close to all the attractions and city of Bayfield. Our site was #4 and we had no problem getting our fifth wheel down to our site and backed in. Hook ups were located in good spots and all worked well. The only obvious upgrade needed will be the dump station which is on the road and on an incline. Not ideal, but then if you have full hook ups, not an issue.

Fantastic RV Park just outside of Bayfield WI. Highly recommended! SItes were wooded and fairly well spaced. Facilities were VERY clean and the owner/operators were on site and helpful. It is clear that they want to provide a first class experience. They are also in the process of expanding the campground, adding more RV sites. We will definitely be back!

We showed up during a thunder storm and forgot we rented the smallest tent site which was nice but it was a little small for our tent we asked if they had any other sites unfortunately they were booked up but said we could pitch our tent near the covered wagon. Turned out the guests that stayed in the coverd wagon checked out early and we ended up in that it was the coolest experience... the facilities here are super clean the cutest main lobby the staff is super friendly will definitely come back !!! And don't forget to get those fresh peaches just keep following the signs a few miles away delicious!!
