This is such a nice motel. Super clean, comfortable, the shower was great! The location is beautiful, the check in/check out easy & the service superb! And it's pet friendly :) will definitely stay here again!

Simply an excellent place to stay at a very reasonable rate. Clean and pleasant rooms, automated check-in process that is easy and well communicated. We were very happy with the location of The River Hills Motel for our visit to the Von Stiehl Winery. It was very neat & clean & had everything we needed. We were able to take our dog. The staff was very helpful with our questions & they were just a text away or a call away. The service was very good for our first contactless experience. We definitely will be going back.Rooms: The room was very neat & clean & had everything we needs.Nearby activities: We were able to walk to the Park with our dog, walk to Lake Michigan, go to the Antique shops & even to the Winery.Walkability: Walked to the Park, to Lake Michigan, to the Antique store, to the Winery.Food & drinks: Went to the Bon Stiehl Winery, went to the Ahnapeaa Brewery.

had the triple bedroom as we had our kids with us. Room was small, but it still had everything and we didn t need it for much. Good size shower, sink, and mirror. Little breakfast table and two chairs. Two double beds and another twin. A little shelf with a microwave and mini fridge. Just enough room to walk through everything. Very decent price. Super comfy beds and blankets. Haven t done the self check in before, but it worked as well. Wasn t bothered by neighbors at all. Loved that we could park right outside our room. wasn't too far from the beach or downtown either. Would come again!

Love the quaint feel of this motel, the employees are super friendly and helpful. I was there for my son s wedding, we had quite a few rooms. A couple of things that would have made it so much better are: a closet or armoire, there was nowhere to hang dresses etc. A small dresser would have helped. The lack of outlets was a bit of an issue. The vending machine with beverages was warm. But the beds were super comfy!Nearby activities: Lots to do and see with 5 minutes of location. Great downtown, beautiful water, awesome restaurants and bars. Antique shops and boutiques!Safety: Very safe area

Cute little motel with friendly staff. For a small town motel the rooms are clean and give you what you need for a good nights sleep, a shower, and direct tv. Only reason i didn t rate it 5 stars is because the bathroom window didn t lock which made me feel uneasy (room 112) and the TP provided in the bathroom was painful. Other than that we loved it!

Nice place with a comfortable bed and your car is parked right outside your door. The room had a microwave, a little fridge, a Keurig coffee maker and a little table with 2 chairs. Easy check in, I received a text with a code to unlock the key to the room. The shower had great water pressure and the water actually stayed hot! All in all, a great stay! It was made even better because they are a dog friendly place. Just be a good dog parent and don't forget to pick up after your fur ball!

Rooms are dated but quite clean, and the bed is comfy.Unique no contact check-in was flawless.Easy in and out parking, right close to town.Contact with the owners was smooth, timely, and clearly communicated. They're very pleasant to deal with.Great stay for a value price.

This motel is the best motel that I have ever stayed in. I haven t stayed in anything less than a 3-star hotel in over 15 years and I was very pleased with our accommodations.We made last-minute reservations on a holiday weekend and this was the only pet-friendly place anywhere close to Sturgeon Bay that still had a room. We are both glad we stayed here.It s CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. Plenty of towels, plenty of room, updated motel, excellent water pressure, plenty of hot water, and friendly staff. We couldn t ask for more. We got the 2 full bed room and there was plenty of room for our chihuahua s over-sized kennel that she sleeps in. We are used to sleeping in a king-sized Serta memory foam hybrid mattress that raises and lowers. We both have joint pain. These beds are comfy and we both woke up without being in pain. Pillows are real pillows and not those flat cheap things typically found in motels.It s a quiet cozy little town and I felt very safe with the area; however, security is the only weak point. I would have been apprehensive if I were staying alone. The room door is just a simple door handle lock (see pic), and the sliding glass door on the other side of the room that leads to a porch had no extra security. Any amateur thief could lift the sliding glass door out and make effortless entry if they wanted to do so. We didn t bring valuables and I wasn t alone so it was perfectly fine. The area seems like a good low-crime area from the looks of it.I would definitely recommend this place for being an extraordinary value for the money.Also, the self-serve lobby is not for extra towels and such. You must text management before taking more according to the posted sign or receive an extra charge to your room. Apparently, guests must steal those sort of things. Really sad people do things like that. A motel towel? Really? Lol.Thank you for the pleasurable stay!

It was kinda a mixed bag. The price is affordable for the area and has an easy check in process. I recommend this place for a solo or tight budget traveler. The bed was extremely comfortable with very nice linens. The room is adequate but very small for 2 people. We had a hard time spreading out all our luggage and supplies for a long trip. It's hard to tell how small it was from the photos. We found it weird that we had only one towel fo a two person check in. We had ants in the bathroom and the sink doesn't drain well. We had a hard time making coffee with an extremely small Kurig that kept spitting out look warm coffee. Also not very private as both window lead right out to walkways. I was a little disappointed based upon the reviews. I would book again by myself but not with a partner.

Very nice clean rooms with a porch and deck, but there are no bathroom fans. The service was kind but very busy. The ice machine wasn't working (very important to traveling fishermen)! The location was ok. Pretty close to the in town attractions (about 3/4 of a mile) but still a hike. Overall, it was a great place for the price. I would definitely stay again!

The room was very clean, the staff was very friendly, the room was a little on the small side, but overall we enjoyed our stay. my only suggestions would be to add more hangers and upgrade the toilet paper.The room had been recently renovated, which was very nice.Rooms: Renovated.

I was hesitant since there wasn't a front desk but was easy to get the keys in the lobby. We also wanted extra coffee and I sent a text and received response immediately. Rooms were nice and clean. Would go back again.Rooms: Were clean and quaint.Nearby activities: Not far from Smashed on The Rocks or downtown area.Walkability: Could walk into town. Not far from the main drag.

We needed to stay an extra night in the Door County area but couldn't find anything under $150 until I found River Hills. I was delighted to find a motel with zero creepy vibes, excellent reviews, and looked cute!Our stay was as advertised. The large motel sign made it easy to find and the check-in process was just as smooth. After a long day, it was nice to be welcomed by such a peaceful little room with incredible details. My partner forgot his toothbrush and the front office had free toiletries available.All-in-all a wonderful stop on our way home. We look forward to staying here again!
