Had to stay here out of necessity rooms were supposedly cleaned but I had to reclean it myself, when I asked to use supplies the older woman at the front desk wanted to inspect my room not to verify that housekeeping hadn't cleaned but because she did not believe me. Employees went thru my room while I was out and returned to apparently do it again while I was there. I opened the door as a front desk clerk was trying to unlock it with a key, without knocking, or bothering to call my room to see if I was there. Upon opening the door I found the same elderly female clerk, an unknown man, that wasn't a staff member, and housekeeping staff, all of whom were very surprised to see me. Another employee informed me that a front desk clerk changed the date on my check in paperwork, so I would have to pay extra. I had to install a showerhead and plumb a sink in my brief stay here. Unfortunately, the urgency with which I was obligated to be in kingwood left me with no choice but to stay at the heldreth. I was told they couldn't rent of the rooms due to most of the housekeeping staff quitting and no roms were clean. I should probably note that I was shown other rooms, but quickly realized I would be going from bad to worse. However, there were a few larger sized clean rooms but weren't available to rent, those were reserved only for the owners when they stayed . Rooms were being remodeled at the time, exclusively for the owners when they were in town, by staff whom you could never find at the front desk, because priority one seemed to be making sure the owners were taken care of first and foremost. I could write a book on the unbelievably bizarre, unplesant, inappropriate, unprofessional, and unethical experience I had at this motel, but I definitely don't have that much time. If you aren't able to book a room at one of the two other options in this town, I would highly recommend delaying your trip or sleeping in your car.Rooms: Terrible, had to clean it myself, towels were dirty and had hairs on them, no shower head, was given one and a wrench to install myself and the list goes on.Nearby activities: No nearby activities. Location is close to town proper, no vending machines or pop vending so you must drive to town. Rooms were devoid of soap, there were no clean towels & no shampoo. If you're lucky enough to catch an employee at their post, they are clearly upset at having been interrupted during what appears to be a never ending smoke break . The recurring theme was that the owners were not paying their staff working the couple decent employees like dogs and treating thenm p) terrible, resulting in a complete loss of respect workplace morale & pride.Food & drinks: No vending at all food and drink only if you drive to town and good luck on the fridge working properly, that is if you have one in your room.

Everyone has been super polite and sweet. The rooms are kept clean and tidy. If you stay longer than one night, maids come every day to ask if you'd like any fresh linen or if you need anything at all. Unless you have your "do not disturb" sign up. The beds are soft and comfortable. And it's an all around great and happy environment. Plus, there is a restaurant right there so you don't have to go anywhere to get food.

It s important to know that the main clientele of the esteemed Heldreth are long-term residents (at least by the week), not travelers passing through. The walls are thin here I won t repeat what I overheard! Be sure to remove all valuables from your car. I got a lot of looks from the residents not because I drive a fancy car but because I was clearly not local.

Heldreth was a good place to lay your head, but the property could use some work. After I was checked in, I discovered that that the bathroom had no shower head and the tub no stopper. Because I was tired, I just accepted the room and did my best to sleep. On the other hand, the staff was very nice and helpful when I needed directions to one place or another as the restaurant was closed. If you just want to rest this is an okay place, otherwise there are options elsewhere.

I never stayed at Heldreth Motel but have worked there back in 2001 -2002. Cleaning the rooms and doing the laundry. We even clean the parking lot first thing in the morning. I have put in several job application s since then but got no response yet. I heard that Heldreth Motel is under under new management so hopefully I might have a better chance of working there again since I live close to them and it's in walking distance to me. I did love working there and I got to meet a lot of great great guests and coworkers

This was my second time staying here and it definitely did not change at all. Room 268 had used tissues on the desk, bed bug infestation signs, and there were groups of men who were looking, talking and making sexual senses towards me, my friend and her 3 daughters. Staff did not care. They wouldn't a low us to move rooms unless we paid for the new room after we already paid $75 plus taxes and fees for one which was the same price for the other room.

This was my second time staying here and it definitely did not change at all. Room 268 had used tissues on the desk, bed bug infestation signs, the beds looked like housekeeping just lifted the bedding then hurried up and put the old bedding from the previous people who stayed in there. There groups of men who were looking, talking and making sexual senses towards me, my friend and her 3 daughters. Staff did not care. They wouldn't a low us to move rooms unless we paid for the new room after we already paid $75 plus taxes and over $30 in fees for the room we were already in (Room#268) which was a one "full size" bed which was MAYBE considered a twin size xl, if that; for 5 people. They had many other rooms that they could've put us in where we would be at least a little comfortable. All but one of us (youngest child) slept cramped together on the nasty, infested floor. The bathroom linens were the ones from the previous room tenant. It is just down right HORRIBLE!

Carpet felt nasty on your feet. No blanket on the bed just a sheet and rough duvet cover. No shampoo never stay a place before that didn't offer shampoo or conditioner. asked the old guy at the front desk if he had extra pillow or blanket and he said no we don't this place was close to where we needed to be next we will stay further away and have better services I don't recommend this place at all. I did check for bed bugs and a least there was none.

Not bad for what you pay for, but then I'm not picky. Needed cheap and comfortable accomodations for our anniversary trip and it was fine. Clean and safe. Located in Kingwood, a beautiful mountain town in West Virginia close to state parks and other attractions. Would stay here again for future visits.

Painful. Horrid mattresses. Constant power surges. Air conditioners that sound like two cats in a sack which not surprisingly fail to sufficiently cool the rooms. Pretty much the worst motel experience imaginable. Avoid like the plague. Sleeping in your car might be a better option.

Out of town tourist here. Checked in at 7:30PM on 5/26/17 for a three night stay. Left at 1:30 AM the same night because I woke up to bed bugs!!I captured and took a bed bug to the front desk worker and left. I contacted a manager the next day for a refund...Considering I didn't get to actually stay there.Basically, I was told that the room was checked by a staff member and no evidence of bed bugs was found (except of course the live bedbug I turned into the front desk...)Basically, these people think that if they ignore the problem it's not there. The manager even said people say that there is bed bugs all the time, but that they never find evidence of them.... Kinda like how they didn't find any evidense in my room (oh, wait....except the live bed bug I turned in!)Despite the fact that my young son and I have several bites, my luggage might as well be radioactive and the threat of taking these to my house (yikes) I was still not given a refund for my first night. Only the next two.Do yourself a favor and go to one of the bed and breakfasts nearby. Lest you be checked into the room that "doesn't have bedbugs." *wink wink*

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Check in was easy. The rooms were a bit dated but clean and well kept. A microwave, refrigerator and tv were available. WiFi was available but with low signal in the room. Overall a good experience and a reasonable room rate.

My family has come here for years. Nothing fancy. Just old fashion customer service. If something isn't to your satisfaction just tell Doug in the office and he corrects the situation immediately. And when you walk in the office, Doug smiles and greets you by name and asks about the family. Even thou it's been a year since he has seen you. Like I said, nothing fancy but definitely warm and fuzzy!

Just needed a room to sleep in and that's all we did. Staff was ok, but rooms were musty and eveything old inside. Beds were very uncomfortable. Dropped something behind the tv console and found lots of dust and a shirt from previous guest.

Restaurant hasn't been open in months. No "smoking" rooms even though both things are advertised. Cheap rate. But nothing around. No shampoo, only soap. Ice machine in office.
