I got to give it for the owner he does love his Park and He does care about it, he's very accommodating while I haven't spent any time there I have three dogs two of them are big and I don't like picking up that poop and I don't want to impose on this guy cuz he's really a nice guy I thank him for opening up his camp and letting me stay there but I don't want to cause him any trouble thank you.

The quietest place I have ever camped. The friendliest place ever! The owner is friendly and has nice occasions of cookouts for residents. I would say set up mostly for long term and long stay. But heck, we started here short stay and now we are seasonal creek side. I plan on staying a long time. Come visit. Nice little creek , restaurant near, close to town while still having that woods feeling. I can t get over how quiet and peaceful! Cabin to rent as well. Wi-Fi as well. Full hookups.

Come for the camping, leave after seeing Scott the owner physically assault someone. If I were you, I'd avoid this place like the plague. The owner of the campgrounds is not someone you should be giving your business to, if what I saw of him tonight was any indication of his character. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere to camp that isn't run by a lunatic.

We camped here for the entire summer while working. Beautiful location, and the owner is super nice, we loved it and will stay again when we get the chance!

I'm giving 5 stars because our visit here was great, probably during off season but extremely quiet (except for road traffic) which you deal with everywhere, our site was very level and quite large compared to most places we've been, there's not much shade if you need that, the property was clean and seemed well maintained.Happy Camping

Very nice campground. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. Spacious sites we stayed on #38. Very clean and Scott the owner maintains the grounds everyday. Wifi was excellent. They offer a military discount! Great place to camp. 5 star rating!

We stay at Smokey Bottom Campground whenever we are in the Elkins area. Whether it is to watch our daughter play soccer at D&E College, hiking in the national forest or fishing in the nearby streams we stay here. It is in a perfect location and fills all our lodging needs. Scott is very down to earth and always willing to help with whatever you need. Very clean and well kept with respectful campers. I would definitely recommend this campground.

We stayed at Smokey Bottom from September to end of November. A bit of summer, fall and snow. This was a great place to park our trailer, while we looked for a house to live in, since we relocated to West Virginia. Scott, the owner was super nice and always had a wave for us when he went by.The place was clean, and provided doggie bag to the pick up. Yes there were long term stayers, they were GREAT, no noise, pleasant and smiled at you.I would HIGHLY recommend this place for a short term stay or even a long term stay. Scott is wonderful and a great ambassador for Randolph County, West Virginia

I loved this campground! My daughter loved the playground area and everything was kept clean! We stayed here for a couple of months and only left because we didn t want to fight the winter in our camper! I would absolutely recommend this campground to friends and family! The owner,Scott, is an awesome and down to earth guy! He went out of his way to make sure we felt welcome and was more than fair when we decided to leave midway through the month!

Well, my old man and I came out of town for work and our coworkers were all staying at Smokey bottom so we decided to move in too. The first few days were nice. Then it all went south. He told us we had to leave without giving us any kind of notice. Threatened if we didn t get out he would tow our camper. So we stayed out the first month and got out of there before something escalated because he s always messed up and always has a pistol in his back pocket. He will sit in his truck and just scream and holler for no reason. We had a friend/coworker that got in a wreck one night when the roads were bad, and after he had passed Scott still charged that poor mans family rent when the camper was just sitting there not using water or electricity. He also kicked a couple out that we also work with gave them one day notice and not only that called every campground in the area and told them not to let them stay there. How can someone charge a deceased man and try to make it where someone doesn t have a place to live. I feel like he is very childish and he drinks and smokes dope way too much and I would never have my family around that establishment. Revelles is very family oriented and is right up the road, I would strongly suggest going there, or really anywhere besides Smokey bottom campground.

Great, Safe, and Easy campground with a beautiful river! My husband was working in the area and we stayed at Smokey bottom. The owner was extremely accommodating and let him park is work vehicle at the campground. The owner is really relaxed, helpful, friendly, and has great Elkins recommendations. We will always return to Smokey bottom campground as long as we have our camper.

We had never stayed here before. We were trying to get another campground at Pegasus farms. They were completely booked up and their owner recommended this place. When another campground recommends a campground, I figured I should listen. I m glad that I did. It was a wonderful stay and they couldn t have been more helpful. Although they don t have restroom and laundry facilities, they make up for it in location. It is right along a beautiful stream and the barbecue restaurant, smoke on the water, next-door is one of the best restaurants I ve been to in West Virginia. We liked it so much, that we went there both nights for dinner. The location is perfect for all of those that want to see all of the great mountain sites like Seneca rocks, Spruce knob, Snowshoe, Blackwater falls and many others. It s the perfect location. For those that can t live without their cell service or Wi-Fi. It is outstanding here. I highly recommend and will come back again!

Actually a nice campground near a little stream. As the other reviewer mentioned hard to get a hold of owner and unlevel sites but found shade, a fire ring and a picnic table. Wifi was great!! I was told by locals that the park has been full of pipeline workers and many have recently left so maybe upgrades/fixes to make it more traveler friendly? One other thing to mention, the local smokehouse rest. (very good)has a band most weekend nights in the summer, sounds like they are in the trailer with you until 1 am. They were good but not great if your a light sleeper. Overall pleasant experience we were only there for a base camp. I will go back if Scott will have us...

This is in a nice SAFE location to explore the area. There are a few full timers here that are VERY quiet. The campground has plenty of length for Class A rvs. Scott is the owner and is VERY attentive and willing to help in any way! He stopped by when we got set up and asked if we needed anything! Never have we had anyone this attentive at campgrounds! Stop by and see him if you are in WV. BTW he offers a military discount.

Had a great experience at smokey bottom. I was working in Elkins for several weeks and came across this newly built campground right outside of the town, so i decided to check it out. Met the owner Scott Smith and decided that is where i was going to set up camp for the ensuing work weeks. As i stated the campground was just build, so if you are expecting a shower house and or playground, or stuff like that, it will be soon coming. the campground is quiet, with trees all around and a creek along the back side of it where you can fish. Campground is very spacious. For what i needed to stay for it was perfect. The owner Smitty is a friendly and welcoming host. He stays on site and is there if you need anything. I befriended him while i was staying there. He even went out of his way one early morning to rescue my camper when my truck broke down 10 miles outside of town. He is a good hearted person and has tons of great ideas for his campground. It will be interesting to see them all unfold. He is going to put a place on the map in the elkins area for campers to stay and make memories. Thanks Smitty, it was a good time.

Great campground, close to town, mostly level sites, Big rig friendly, gravel roads and sites. Owner very nice and always available if you need anything. Looks like owner is still developing some areas like kiddy park, but overall it s very nice. We plan to stay again later this month.

My husband and I stayed here for about 3 months and it was the best RV park we have ever stayed in. Scott was so helpful and thoughtful. We work on the road so we have alot of experience with Rving. Beautiful stream right out your window, very convenient to town and shopping, many attractions that are close with georgous rides to them. I fell in love with this area. Thank You Scott for all your pointers, I would definately stay here again. Neighbors were so friendly felt sad to leave.

Thanks Scott !We stayed here for six months, and really didn't have any issues except for (PEOPLE AND THEIR DOGS................YIKES !!!!!! ) which is everywhere we go.Scott was good to work with my wife and I, so we had a good stay here. Now places to eat in Eklins........, now thats a different story !They could really use some good places to eat here, even if it was nothing but good home cooked meals. But you can't find them in this town.If we are up this way again, we will look forward to staying at this campground again, thanks Scott !Joey & Holli

First of all to say, first initial look was that it was an awesome place to stay, but once you meet the owner it's a different story. Expected me to heat trace and wrap insulation around HIS water line. I was working at a different location for 3 days and when I got home I was taking a shower and he shut my water off then proceeded to pound on my door and when I opened it he started screaming that I could just leave when I calmly tried to explain to him that I was just gonna take a shower and then turn it back off till I got it wrapped up. Then he threatened to tow my camper. He gets drunk and crazy everynight, and there is really no telling what else he does besides drink. I would not consider recommending this establishment to ANYONE. I would definitely not take my children there. He is very rude and disrespectful and it feels like he has little man syndrome. The camper spots are unlevel and flood really bad. And the ground is very soft under the rock. I regret ever giving him my business. Hope this helpsRESPONSE TO OWNER'S COMMENT:No sir, I was not partying with anyone at your campground you were the one drinking with them. I was there 5 minutes dropping off my bike so I didn't have to drive it over the mountain in the dark. You were the one clapping and screaming and instigating. If anyone was drinking with underage girls it was you. And yes my camper did flood, but I was hoping they would fix the water damage cause not only did I use it to work I used it to take my family on vacation, and I paid for everyday that it sat there I have the receipt to show. Maybe you should winterize a couple spots for people without a 4 seasons camper I sure would have paid the extra money for it. No one is perfect and I will accept and own that and if I'm in the wrong I'm able to admit that and apologize. I'll keep you in my prayers that you find tenants that never come outside or do anything to aggravate you hope that prayer comes true.

Nice quiet place esp over this labor day wkend. Sites are pretty level and all include water n electric n sewage. Paid $40 a night which in my neck of the woods in PA, thats unheard of. Which is why i traveled 2 hrs to get there. Wifi is exceptional if your up in front. We chose the back to just be alone, plus we have two huge gsd s and its just easier with them to be alone. We had sketchy signal in camper but outside we had reception that was pretty good. We have verizon and had no signal at all. Owner was so nice. I highly recommend this campground. Stores are pretty close. We made a few runs for odds n ends while we were there. Stayed thurs thru labor day.

Good price, very well kept grounds and a great location - close enough to restaurants to be convenient and far enough away to be quiet. Owner is very personable and helpful. I can only give 5 stars but it is really 10/10 !

Very nice and quiet park. My daughter loved the play area to death. Owner is right on top of everything when you need something. Had a nice stay, hate that it ended so soon due to other stuff. But thanks for the stay Scott!

Edit: Mail was indeed held hostage. Filled out the paperwork several times and tried to give it to you.Overpriced. Terrible WiFi and phone service. Owner is unstable, as other reviews mention. Held mail hostage for three days for some unknown reason. Much better options in area.

Great place to stay love the atmosphere - Close to town with cell service allows me to run my business from camp . Our kids love the playground area and ample room to ride their bicycles . The outdoor movies/football games on the big screen are a blast - highly recommend if you want to stay in a campground with strangers that instantly treat you like family !!!
