This is a five star ride-in/ride-out resort campground the offers everything you need. A secure (locked gates with pass code @ 8pm) resort that has excellent facilities. Don't have a camper? No problem, they have new cabins that are fully furnished.

Stayed here over the weekend and had a blast! The staff were nice, tons of parking, lots of cabins to choose from we picked 3A it was abit small but for 2 people we had enough room and would of been room for another person comfortably the bathroom was all you needed.. Overall this is a really nice quiet place to stay was affordable and very clean. Will be staying here again! Oh and 1 thing in our cabin there wasn't any chair/chairs to sit on wasn't a problem tho we used some folding chairs to chill on.

Tonya and I had another great stay (camping) at The Mud Pit this past week, this was our second stay this year. The campsites are roomy, grounds are well maintained with easy access to the trails, and not to mention food and adult beverages near by. Huge shout out to Steve Morris (aka Chicken) for being so helpful and making sure we had everything we needed during our stay, such a kind and great person. Christina (sorry didn't catch her last name) was very kind and pleasant anytime we went into the store. This is the only resort we'll stay at when riding Pocahontas, Indian Ridge and Pinnacle trails. Looking forward to our stay in 2024.

The only place we stay when we are in the area. The staff are great. Chicken is an awesome host. Clean and plenty of space. Can't wait to go back.

I was very skeptical of this place, due to a very rude older lady I spoke with on the phone prior to our trip! I had to call to get my confirmation, I called twice couldn t get through and the voicemail box was full. She finally answered and seemed very bothered by my phone call. I was not looking forward to dealing with her when we arrived! We also had friends that said they dealt with the older lady and she wasn t pleasant to deal with! Once we got their Chicken and a younger lady greeted us and changed my mind on the place! Chicken made the trip worth while! Chicken will be the reason we return! I would highly recommend maybe some ethic training for the older lady, could scare a lot of business away!

My husband and I had wonderful time these past five days, we'll definitely be back! The staff was great, the grounds were well maintained, campsites were huge, we weren't on top of one another, which is a plus. Met Aronld (one of the owners) and his wife, such a delight talking with them. If you stay here be sure to ask for Chicken to take you on a tour, he was GREAT! Not only is knowledgeable about the trails but the area as well, thank you Chicken, we enjoyed our chats with you!

If you're looking for an ATV resort that truly delivers on fun, excitement, and relaxation, then look no further than The Mud Pit ATV Resort. From start to finish, my experience at this resort was nothing short of amazing.First of all, the location is absolutely great. The resort is nestled in the heart of the mountains, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views. It's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just relax. But what really sets this resort apart is the amazing staff, they were so helpful and knowledgeable. They are friendly and always happy to help with anything you need. A huge shout out to Steven AKA "Chicken". This man is truly a great influence. It is worth staying here just to meet him.Whether you're an experienced ATV rider or a complete beginner, there's something for everyone here. The trails are well-maintained and offer a variety of difficulty levels, so you can choose your own adventure. And if you're not in the mood for ATV riding, there are plenty of other activities to keep you entertained, like setting around the fire and talking to Chicken. The accommodations at The Mud Pit ATV Resort are also top-notch. The cabins are cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The RV sites were perfect for our 40 ft diesel. They also have plenty of room for your trailer as well.Overall, I would highly recommend The Mud Pit ATV Resort to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing getaway. It's the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature, all while enjoying some great ATV riding. Five stars all around!

I ve been coming to The Mud Pit for years and will continue to every time I ride HMT. The location is perfect to the trails / nearby restaurants and the river side cabins are nice and clean. I miss seeing the old owners Brian and Donna, they were wonderful people and worked hard to maintain and grow The Mud Pit. But the new owners and staff who run it are always welcoming and willing to do whatever they can to make your stay a good one. I give a 4 star rating because the beds really need to be thrown out and updated with something more comfortable (they ll worn and it s hard to get a good night sleep). It would be great if the restaurant was open again (this was really nice to grab a breakfast sandwich in the morning or something for dinner after riding all day and you don t want to cook or drive somewhere). Last thing would be to add a wash station to clean off your machine. If those three things were done it d be a five star resort in my opinion. Thanks as always for a great stay and look forward to seeing y all again.

The staff was awesome. Great location really close to the trails entrance. Spaces are large and the store on sight has the necessities you need if you are staying in the cabin or the rv spot. The only thing keeping this from 5 star is the rv spot and cabins in the corner can get alil crowded. So try to get a spot on the ends and work your in. Avoid rv spot 1.

Amazing place to stay if wanting to ride the Pocahontas trail system of the Hatfield and McCoy trails. Clean and helpful, especially Chicken "I know it sound weird but he is an awesome guy". Priced fairly. I don't think it has bathhouse, at least I don't remember seeing one. Great store with all the gear you may need at good prices, not jacked up like other camp stores. Every site is right on the river with picnic table and fire pit; some have a grill. I will be returning and you can take that as a promise or threat. I truly loved my stay and can't say anything negative about them besides I didn't see a mud pit, just a small, friendly, well maintained ATV resort.

The staff, the owners and Chicken were amazing, everyone was so hospitable it felt like home! They know the area and were able to give suggestions. The RV site was very roomy, and the hookups were easily accessible. We will be back next year!

Very nice very quite. It was clean on the inside and out. Had great space for the size of the cabin. We didn't feel like sardines we had alot of room to move around. I loved that it was so quiet and that we needed a code to come in after we the store was closed. Made me feel alot safer. Close to the trails and to town. It was a really great place to stay and would highly recommend.

Had a nice weekend here with extended family for a wedding. All cabins were clean and nicely appointed with basic items and all are a bit different. The ones on the backside is where we stayed and ate breakfast /grilled out as they have larger fridge space and great for families with kids. While we didn t get to ATV this time, we do plan for the Mud Pit to be our go to when returning to visit and hope to hit the trails.

A very nice, quiet and clean place to stay. Our cabin was spotless with coffee and a Keurig machine, which was a nice touch. Very well maintained. Will come back!

I booked this place along with another family member. We had to cancel 3 days after booking it and they keep more than half your deposit. Before we could even ask about a later date, they said it would be a 35 fee to cancel. We booked 4 months in advance. No reason to keep any money. We won't be booking to stay at this place in the future. Our group size was 15 of us. This place does look really nice to camp at at but I can't comment on that

A great place to stay! We have been traveling to visit the ATV trails in the area and have stayed at several different places. The cabins look to be of new construction and are very clean and well kept. There was plenty of parking for my two trucks and 20' trailers. We arrived at 3:00 am and they had our rooms ready for us. The owners were very friendly and helped us on a previous trip with our room selections to fit my large family's needs. There is a store with gasoline on site, so they have everything you need. I even ordered a Pizza and the owner delivered to our door. They also sell rider accessories, such as helmets and goggles. There is a shop onsite and I am told that if you have a problem with your ATV, They can most likely fix it. Nice to know someone can help if needed. I would definitely stay there again and plan to in the future.

Great resort to stay and very clean! They have a restaurant, store, riding gear and parts store, a repair/tire garage with a lift and a 93 octane gas pump with no ethanol. It's very close to the Pocahontas trails. The owners Brian and Donna are wonderful people! We stayed there the past 3 years. Can't wait for next year!

I really liked this place. It doesnt look like much from the road but it is ran by fantastic people and the service is unmatched. They can help you fix your machine if needed and when theyre cooking they prepare fantastic food. Its a quiet place on a lighter traffic road about 1.5 miles from the trail. Our cabin was very clean and well prepared. I didnt care much for the matress and pillow comfort but my lower back is picky. My only real complaint is they, like many of the local businesses, are not full service during the week. Weekends they have food and generous store hours but monday through wends they do not. Wends they are closed completely. Its a little frustrating to pay full price cabin rental and not have access to the ameneties that you would on the weekends. But overall i highly recommend and i will stay again.

Awesome place! Extremely well maintained. RV sites are huge! Lots of room! Nice fire pits, very friendly, helpful staff. And only 2 miles on pavement to trail #17 on HMT. Gated place - very nice & quiet at night, no riff raff to worry about. Highly recommended.

OMG! I can't say enough about this place! I absolutely loved it. The cabins are immaculate & set overlooking a beautiful horseshoe shaped river. Each one has a beautiful view from your cabins front porch swing. Each cabin also has it's own fire pit & picnic table by the river. You can go kayaking on the river, or choose to ride the ATV trails. They have access to thousands of acres of the most beautiful mountain trails (& mud pits) on the Hatfield & McCoy trails. The owners, Brian & Donna Lowe are wonderful & cater to everyone that visits like they are family. They also have a general store, a shop where they do ATV repairs, a wash down area, gas, etc. Highly recommend everyone visit this resort.

We ve stayed at several places close to the Hatfield McCoy trails over the years and there is none better than Pocohontas Outfitters/Mud Pit. The cleanest cabins, full service repair/parts center, cooked meals, and most importantly the sweetest people that go way beyond any place we ve ever stayed to make sure you are taken care of and have the best time on the trails. We are truly blown away. Love this place.

Had a really wonderful week playing in the Hatfield McCoy trails. The Mud Pit resort sits at the south end of the Pocahontas trail head. Which means you can ride a short ways down the road and jump into the trails making it all the way up thru Pocahontas to Indian Ridge to Pinnacle Creek. So all three trail systems are easily reachable riding from your cabin. The cabins appear to be brand spanking new even though they are indeed older. They are kept immaculately clean and the owners are just truly wonderful people. They really will do anything to make sure you have a great stay. One of the members of our group also got new tires installed and found their price to be competitive. It's a bit of a ways from the resort to a decent grocery store so you should consider that and come prepared. The cabin has a bar fridge and decent size pantry for storage but only a microwave and a small sink in the kitchen. It also does not have any kitchenware (plates, utensils, etc). My advice is to come prepared as if you were camping. We brought a small BBQ and used that plus the fire pit to cook every night so we never ending up going to a restaurant. Sitting at the fire with a cold beverage was just the perfect end to the day. Even though the cabins are in close proximity, there was no noise issues. Everyone is there to ride and goes to bed tired. We really enjoyed meeting our neighbors and had just the best week we could hope for. Just a beautiful spot, clean and comfortable accommodations and helpful and friendly owners. What more could you want?
