Mikes Automotive in Washougal used to be a staple in this area with great service and always honest. With that being said that is no longer true. I took a car I recently bought to see if there were any issues and they reset a belt and changed the oil. On the drive home, about 10 miles, there was smoke rolling out from under the hood. I figured maybe they spilt a bit and it would burn off...it did 2 days later and than came the oil leak on my garage floor it didn't have before. I called them and guy named Marty answered the phone and his explanation was and I quote "sometimes oil filters come with 2 rubber gaskets and I might not have seen that." So he said bring it in. I asked if I did could they look at the "check engine" light that had came on that was not before I took it there either and said I would have to pay $60.00, he said "take to Auto Zone, they will do it for free." Botton line is if they can't figure out there might be 2 gaskets on an oil filter, the simplest of car mechanical, than I suggest to those reading this that you skip going there. So f'd up a simple oil change and won't spend 5 minutes telling me what the code is on that setting my "check engine" light. Don't waste your time at this place...as I said, they used to be amazing...but now they suck.

Great service, knowledgeable mechanics! The only reason for the missing star is through no fault of their own. My car was not worth repairing.

After they told us to get our car down there soon as possible we couldn t get it in till the next day. The guy at the desk. Marty. Got so disrespectful that she ended up leaving in tears. I got there and he kept with the disrespect, I wasn t having it so I let him know I m a long time costumer and referred everyone. Not ever again. If that s how you treat women and your customers we are done. Now to try and get the car home broke down still someone will take the $2500 car fix somewhere else

Everything we take to Mike comes back running better than ever. We got told it was going to cost us 4500$ to fix our waverunner replace the whole block etc. In Vancouver we took it to Mike an it came back only costing us 1800$ an come to find out the block was fine it was the supercharger had to be rebuilt thank you Mike for being honest an doing it right.

I called yesterday and had my truck towed over in the afternoon. I called at 8:00 this morning. It was already fixed. Fast, good price, and good work. What more can you ask.

my husband said that if he got to a point where he couldn t fix my car again, that I had to go to Mike s auto! Mike is the only person my husband trusts with our cars.He fixed 3 problems that I was having with my car. It was powering off every time I stepped on my brakes, there was a bad sound when I turn on my car, and it was leaking oil. He fixed all of these problems! I highly recommend him.

Mike's is a small auto repair shop that brings back basic troubleshooting to car repairs. I've had oil changed and even then it was a good experience. The guys are really friendly and the service is spectacular. Mike helped me out recently with an issue on my car and spent about 20 minutes of his time with no appointment. A great place for your car repairs.

Mikes has always been a good place to go I ve gone there for years and years. The problem now is, Mike does not work on the cars anymore, he has these other rookie mechanics that really aren t that good work on the cars, so that is why I stopped going. They don t do that great of work anymore.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, BrakesServices: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Brakes

Best experience! I'm away from home and my car stopped working! I contacted a friend in a nearby town for a Mechanic recommendation. She said Mike's Automotive is hands down best place to go! I called the shop and they promised to have it done within a few hours once the car was delivered. Not overpriced at all. A very friendly and efficient shop. Oh, and my car works great now!

This fellow is THE BEST. Our old F250 had been reposted multiple times by him, always quickly and with reasonable rates. Highly recommend. Note: getting into/out of the driveway/parking is a challenge, but totally worth it.

The place time forgot and I'm glad. What you see is what you get, small town feel, good and fair prices, honest work. No frills, no fluff, better love dogs, they are there and are enormous.

After getting an overpriced quote from Firestone, I took my car to Mike's. They were flabbergasted by the 400% mark-up on parts. Firestone quoted me $800 to only fix one side (when both sides were falling apart). Mike's rebuilt the entire front end for only $900! And they threw in a free alignment! Trust me - these guys are legitimate, trustworthy, and my forever go to for car issues.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I used them to repair my air conditioner and they said I would have to leave the vehicle there so they could evaluate what was making the bearing noise after their inspection I was told that it was just a bearing that could be replaced so they charged me almost $300.00 when I got my truck back it was noisier than when I bought it so I bought it back and was told that in fact that the whole air conditioner compressor would need to be replaced And that would cost me over $650.00 I also mentioned to them that my windshield washer was not working and if they may of disconnected something and was told that no way any thing that they did would effect my washer my mechanic friend told me he would help me replace the compressor and it cost me Less than $150.00 and in the process I discovered two wires that had been disconnected and I reconnected them when I asked two different people at mikes who said they had not disconnected anything and didn t even go out to look So basically I was charged over $300.00 for an inspection and for parts that didn t fix the problem.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Who says local has to be too expensive? Mike's is an awesome shop tucked away on the boarder of Camas and Washougal. You can do everything from tires to auto repair and these guys are good. Mike is the owner and I got to talk directly to him. He showed me exactly what the problem was and he took care of it fast and it didn t cost me an arm and a leg. Give these guys a shot if you want a repair or service done with little fuss.

I'd had my truck in and out of another shop for 2+ months. I was referred to Mike's by a coworker. I called on a Friday, took it in on Tuesday and had it back on Thursday. He actually listened to us when we said what we'd done to the truck, how it was acting, etc. The truck has been running AMAZING ever since. I am very, very, very happy.

If I had 10 thumbs, Mike, Marty & the crew would get all 10! Mike's was recommended by Oregon Engine Rebuilders Inc (also 10+!!) to remove & install our 24 year old re-manufactured engine. They had our engine professionally pulled in 2 days with no cutting wires, hoses, etc.- they removed each one-by-one and replaced what was needed. When we got the engine back, not only did they have it installed in 2 days, the entire compartment was cleaned up and it looks almost brand-new. Had a little hiccup with an EGR valve and they fixed that too. Their work is excellent and we couldn't be happier. Their price and workmanship can't be beat in all of Clark County. Mikes has a new life-long customer!

Mike will only fix what you need fixed. If there us something else needed, he will let you know about it, and get you an estimate. I have never met anyone who has taken a car to him that has had a problem with him!He will do a FREE computer diagnostic while tough wait. If the repair is simple, and tough are able to tackle it yourself, he will let you know what it is, what to buy, and how to do it so you can save money.

After taking our Scion XB to Toyota when it wouldn't start and ending up with them telling us it needed a new motor, I found Mike's Auto Repair. When I talked to Dustin on the phone and explained what Toyota had told me he said to bring it in and they would look at it and there was an outside chance that all of the valves had stuck open and it could be a easy fix. It turned out that this was the case and a possible 3000.00 repair at Toyota turned into a minor repair. These guys are extremely honest and amazing to work with. They will be getting all of our auto repair business going forward.

Have been going to Mikes auto for a couple years since we've lived in Washougal. Had decent service until we had a transmission start hard shifting. I scanned the vehicle and knew it was throwing a generic transmission code and a transmission temp sensor code P0700 and P0714. We called Mikes auto and asked if they did transmission work or if we should seek a transmission shop. We were told that they did transmission work and to bring it in. They called us after the weekend and told us that it needed to go to a transmission shop because they were unable to service it. We were charged 70 dollars for the vehicle to be scanned, and for them to find the same two codes I had already told them that the vehicle was throwing. Waste of time and money.

They took a botched job from another shop and made it right in less time than the original shop quoted. My wife was their most excited and relieved customer she thinks they ever had. They are our new favorite mechanic shop. We highly recommend them!

So there are some pros and cons with my experiences at mikes auto repair.Pros: I had mikes auto repair install a aftermarket bypass kit in my truck to eliminate my air pump that went bad. $1500 part that was not really necessary and the bypass kit was $300 straight from the factory that had an amazing life time warranty and thousands of positive reviews. It was pretty self explanatory system being that it was a plug n play and no need for wire splicing. Mikes was the only shop that agreed to install it and I wanted a shop to do it just so I could have them make sure it was working properly. They charged me $600 for the part and labor and offered a 1 year warranty on the parts you have them order. I could buy it myself for $300 and have them install it for $65 but I wanted that warranty (For good reason). They put it in and tucked it away to where I couldn t see it ( never asked to look at it to inspect their work). I was happy and it seamed to be working perfectly.Cons: close to 1 year later my check engine light came on and I checked the code and it was the same code for the air pump. Went back to mikes and I was still under their 1 year service warranty and they took a look at it. I was told the part wasn t working and I would need a new one. I Called the manufacture and they needed to speak to mikes mechanics and have them run some tests. Although mikes agreed to perform the tests they seemed irritated and I had to pretty much beg mikes to talk to the manufacture. The part manufacture were nothing but polite and I d give them 5 stars for their customer service. For mikes not so much. After a few days of my truck being down and haggling mikes to contact the manufacture and multiple phone calls, mikes pretty much asked me to take my truck as if they were done trying to help. My answer was no and I went to their shop and talked to the manufacture together and they agreed to send a new part after that phone call. The part came in and mikes reinstalled it. Worked perfectly. Again mikes tucked the $600 computer chip away where I couldn t see it. Took it home and tried locating where it was. I found my $600 chip shoved under the engine in a rats nest of wires and near some extremely hot engine components...... it wasn t secured at all and just rattling around.... this is where I give them less then 5 stars.... they were extremely difficult to follow through with their 1 year warranty and then half a$$ the work when the new part came in..... all I did was took some zip ties and mounted the $600 chip far way from engine. I can t prove that the last installment was what caused my last chip to fail but it was highly likely that was the cause.... I m just glad that the manufacture held by their lifetime warranty and sent me a new one although it was probably mikes fault for not property securing it. It s been 8 months since the second part has been installed and I m having zero issues with it now. I attached some pictures of the mess mikes left my chip in and the zip tie picture of my fix to better secure it.

The only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 star is because I used to use Mikes a few years ago and he was always on the ball, but today, the ball got dropped in my opinion. I drove from Vancouver to Washougal for an oil change, a 100k engine & trans check, fluids to be filled and 2 new tires. I stood in the workshop for a while, no one was interested in checking me in, I had to walk around to find someone, when I did I was told they were all at lunch, I could come back later. Explaining that I had come all the way from Vancouver did not matter, I was told I could wait outside. OK, I get it, you earn your lunch, but you could have checked me in, and I could have left the car and picked it up later. I have referred friends to this place, but I won t do that again, and I won t be back either.
