Took my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta to get looked at here after Walmart refused to change my oil. Had my check engine and service light on for a while and wanted to get a more professional opinion. The staff at Mouse Meat were incredibly kind and I could instantly tell that they cared about what they do and customers they serve! Earl and his mechanics were honest and explained in detail what was going on with my car! As someone with really bad car anxiety I felt comfortable with their opinions and I was so happy that my car was running great after they changed my oil/filter! If you have a VW of any sort take it to these guys for amazing service and rates!!! Won't be going anywhere else for future repairs!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

After hearing good things about this shop, I had a new motor put in my 2003 audi a4 for around $3,500. Coming home it blows the radiator fitting, leaking coolant so bad it couldn t drive. Fixed that on the side of the road myself to get home & called them and was told Sometimes they just don t get put in all the way . Couple hours later it blows the turbo intake coupler right off because it wasn t put on all the way. Car immediately shuts off & i m stranded yet again. Had to tow it home with jeep.Go to TwoQuicks instead of this place!Service: Engine repair

I would have to agree with all the positive posts here. All the work I have done has been legit and reasonably priced. The awesome thing is they are enthusiast owned and operated so when you have a idea in mind of how your VeeDub should drive, handle, and sound, they are willing to work with you. In short, they are willing to get off the OEM frame of mind. I have had 3 Volkswagens go through their shop and am leaving a review because I was looking up there number to have a fourth one go there as well. So I had to leave a review, of course. The only drawback of the shop is that they're not open on Saturdays. Bummer. Love these guys. H2o.

If I could give zero stars I would. Scammer all the way. Told me it was a rod bearing and he was only going to do one because it was all he could find. I asked him if your already there just do them all. He assured me that only needed to do one. Well almost 700 bucks later and I get 14 miles and knocking again. I had it towed in and I live so close my car didn't make the knocking till it got warm. I got it home it was still not warmed all the way up. When I go to work is knocking half way to work. I call him to let him know and he says well we did what we could with what we had. I can rebuild it or put a new motor in. Wants 1600 to put a new one in and will cost me over a grand to get a new one that's used. Save your self the time and money and go to a real shop

I am thankful for Bugly and Earl's quick attention to my vehicle. They were honest and diligent with their work for my VW and got me back on the road the same week. With parts still being a little difficult to obtain, I was glad that Earl never gave up. Price beat everyone else and now my car runs like the day we bought her. Thanks guys. I'll see you late spring or so.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

Took in my 64 beetle after failing to get it repaired at another shop. These guys had the problem figured out and my car running again within a day and a half for less than other shops were charging. I will definitely be back again dService: Engine repairService: Engine repair

These guys give an honest opinion and fix your car right. Half the price of the dealerships for most services. Very friendly staff that know their VW's. And no they don't use those cheap Chinese knockoff parts. All O.E. parts at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend checking out Mouse Meat before another's. The Unicorn is driving like the day we bought her. Now time to get that stage 2 tune. Thanks for that recommendation guys.

Great shop in Tacoma that specializes in German cars. Took my 09 Audi A4 in with a rough idle and check engine light. After inspecting the car thoroughly they found I had a hole in my intake. They were quick to order the part and to get the job done. My car is now running like new and I probably paid less than half than I would have paid at the dealership. Would recommend.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair

Can t say enough about this shop! I used to own a 72 bug and took it to them for everything. Thy carved on the half hour as well so it was always reasonable. They have helped me out of so many jams. Always had my bug running like a top. They work on most anything but obviously the German cars are their specialty.Check them out for your VW needs!

This review is a few years overdue. I moved to Washington in late 2015 and had a 2010 VW TDI DSG Sportwagen at the time. A few days after traveling from MN to WA my dual mass flywheel failed. I brought my car to this shop and had the flywheel replaced. I paid around $1600 for the repair and after I picked it up, the flywheel failed again within 100 miles. Not a huge deal, parts can fail out of the box and Mouse Meat replaced it under warranty. Drove it another 100 miles and the flywheel failed again.. I then tried to bring it back and was told that I had to wait to hear back from the supplier of the flywheel about warranty. I needed my car for the work I was doing at the time and waited about a month, after calling every week and asking for an update as the flywheel continued to get worse. I was eventually told the pilot bearing was replaced with an AIRCOOLED VW pilot bearing as they were around the same size. So according to Mouse Meat a vehicle that makes 40hp and even less Tq is appropriate for a vehicle making quadruple the power. I kept getting the run around by the owner and the technician. Eventually my flywheel broke and completely fell off the crankshaft, leaving me stranded. I towed the car to VW and when the flywheel failed, it took out the transmission itself costing me $10,000 for a new transmission and flywheel. MOUSE MEAT HAS NO BUSINESS FIXING ANYTHING. STAY AWAY FROM THESE HACKS. As someone who is mechanically inclined and currently works for a performance VW/Audi shop in Minnesota as a service technician Mouse Meat is absolute garbage and has no idea what they re doing. Save yourself some time and money and go to Achtuning if you need VW/Audi repair in the Tacoma/Seattle area.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance

Very friendly and honest crew down at Mouse Meat Inc. Fixed my old VW GTI Mk2 for a great price. They were quick & professional with the repairs and everything was in good shape when they gave me my keys back. If I ever need another fix for my old VW that I don't have the tools to do myself; I'll gladly give these guys more business!

I don't normally take time to write reviews but I gotta say that this is by far the best customer service I have ever experienced in this industry. I am a young woman, so I feel like many shops jump at the chance to rip me off. I actually have fun when I come in. They are so happy to teach me things about my car and I always pay at least half as much as I was expecting to. I never thought I would actually look forward to having my car worked on. I'm so glad I decided to take "Betsy" to a business that loves my car almost as much as I do :)

I am so glad that I came here. The diagnostic was very reasonably priced. They walked me through what was going to be done and were straight forward. My car is fixed for less than I anticipated and I will definitely come back when I need it! As a woman who has been treated poorly by previous mechanics, I REALLY appreciate this place. Fairness and honesty lives!

These guys are awesome! The prices are more than fair, the work is excellent and done quickly. I have had other mechanics give me the "dumb girl" treatment and I am pleased to say this is not the case at Mouse Meat Inc. They have always been straightforward with what needs to be done as well as what doesn't. This is why we keep coming back. The crew here is also very friendly and will chat about almost anything. Now, if we could only get them to work on our non-VW cars....

I had a '72 Beetle go in for a new windshield. They cracked two windshields trying to put them in and finally got the third one in. Yet they expected me to pay for the first two because "your bug is misaligned". The bug had never been in an accident, and they were trying to cover their costs for their mistakes at the expense of my wallet.I tried to order new vinyl seats through them as well. They kept blaming the distributor for not having them in stock for 3 months. I had to call to see if they had them in, they never called me and I just went somewhere else.Overall, terrible service. I'd advise to go somewhere else besides here. Though they are the only VW repair in Tacoma, it will not be in your best interest to take your care here.

Good work and fair prices until covid. Now they struggle I guess. They charged me 143 bucks just to change 2 brake light bulbs. Go somewhere else I'm sure you can find cheaper prices for equal or better service.

0 complaints about Earl and his crew at Mouse Meat. If you want reliable and honest work then look no further. They're great guys who provide a great environment for anybody who loves their car. Earl has always done right by me and my Vr6's!

Although this group knows more than most about VW's, we find their promises of getting parts on time and having the job done on time RARELY HAPPENS!It is a constant frustration and when they keep the car for several days without any backup vehicle, it becomes more than inconvenient. You never know when it's going to done, despite their earnest statements stating otherwise. It's always the same reason " the part delivery was delayed". We've offered to get the part ourselves which they say can't happen. If you plan to go on vacation, DON'T expect your vehicle to be done beforehand. You must weigh the often lower cost they will charge vs. what the dealer charges and the unpredictable loss of time.

Took in a friend's car for a timing belt because of a noise coming from the engine. Charge this $ $900 change the timing belt. The sound came back then they told us it was the timing chain tensor and wanted another $800 to change that. We've driven the car one year and put about 12,000 miles on it and now it's in the shop and they say the timing belt needs to be changed. You can just look in the shop and see that they are very unorganized and messy I would stay away from this place

Mouse Meat Inc has been working on my volkswagens for many years. Very knowledgeable, very fair on pricing and they always include you in the process. I highly recommend them.

The best shop in Washington hands down. They saved my butt twice in one day. First, I needed a crankcase breather valve for an 05 A4. It's part of the pcv valve assembly but if you buy the pcv valve from any auto parts store the breather hose isn't included. Nor do they carry the hose. Dealerships want $68 other European motor shops want $72. Mouse Meat-$21. Second, in the process of changing the pcv valve I lost the retainer clip that holds the breather hose in. This clip is very hard to find. Mouse Meat to the rescue, they pulled one off a parts motor they had in the shop. Thanks guys, you're awesome.

Earl, Bugsley and the other gentleman (didn't catch his name. ..) are great guys. My VW Rialta was making a funny noise in the transaxle. They got me confidently back on the road in no time! Thanks guys, glad to be part of the VW family.

I've had numerous projects done here and feel their pricing is honest and fair. I have had to wait for their current projects to be done a couple of times but that is the way it should be. Amazes me how spoiled and demanding some people are. I will return.

There s no one like Mouse Meat. I brought in my 1974 VW Beatle Bug. 2 months and 7 phone calls later, we were told nothing was wrong when we gave them a surprise visit. We were not charged. I do not believe they worked on the car which we will take elsewhere. Yes, there s no one like Mouse Meat!
