Had a great experience having diagnostics done on my car. They didn t find anything wrong with the transmission, but gave me a printout of the codes for why the check engine light was on and a recommendation for a local mechanic. David was very kind, informative, and honest. Recommend!

Very professional and proud of their work done and excellent service that you cannot find at any other transmission shops. Have owned a couple of different types of vehicles, tore up my transmissions and never had to worry once I had them rebuild them. As a matter of fact, I ve had transmissions shipped back from overseas for them to rebuild and ship back and they ve done it right. Not to mention, I ve called them up while overseas and they solved some of my problems over the phone miles across the oceans. One thing, Great place, good people and Service with pride. Thanks to the team and staff ABC Transmission and please keep up your excellent work and service with pride.

They were very helpful and I trust that the job they did was done right. They anwered all my questions and were straight forward and honest when they found additional items that needed replacement. They had a lot of very good reviews and they have been in business I believe since 1968 so I chose them. They are one of very few shops that rebuild transmissions and they back it up with a full 3 year or 100,000 miles warranty. They are great to work with. It wasn't cheap but I think the transmission will probably last longer than the rest of the vehicle.

Great work, shifts smoothly and when there was a small leak immediately got my truck back in and fixed it warranty no charge. Also told me to bring it back to be sure in a few weeks.

Thank you ABC Transmission! After noticing what seemed like transmission problem, we were told to take it down to ABC for diagnostics. David and the others looked at it, ran tests and told us that it was not a transmission problem. The problem was the mass air flow sensor. All that was done free of charge!! Thank you ABC for the honesty and the solution. We will definitely be going back there again. The lovely young lady at the counter was very polite and friendly as well.

Honesty! It seems to be few and far between these days, and these guys, "Got It"!I'll sum my experience up at ABC Transmission with this, $0.00.Sean and his team ran the computer diagnostics and took it for an extended test drive and was able to recreate my issues. There has been a "Shimmy & Shake" in my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT transmission when it wanted to drop down into "O/D" Overdrive after reaching 45 to 60 MPH.Conclusion: Needs major tune up, including a coil pack.The initial diagnostics was free! Again, my bill after at least (I assume) a good 90+ minutes of investigation: $0.00.I did a lot of investigation, which brought my search and word-of-mouth findings down to about 6 other transmission shops, which seem to have some credibility, but all wanted to charge me about $100.00 to just look at it. 3 of those seemed like they were gonna go through the motions and just try to sell me a rebuilt "For about $5,200.00" and only honor the installation warranty.The prognosis: The engine was misfiring causing the drive train to lose power for a brief moment and with every action, there's a reaction, causing the aforementioned "Shimmy/ Shake".This era of Ford transmissions are notorious for failing around 60K to 80K miles. My truck had already had a transmission replaced under warranty at about 60K, many years ago, with the original owner, who I bought it from with about 127,00 miles.I've only put about 15,000 miles on it in four years concluding the current transmission now has about 80K.With such low mileage on a 22 year old vehicle that's only had one fender bender "Verified by Carfax", and some other work I've already put into it, the investigation was logical and worth all this effort to see if I had a time bomb on my hands.I decided on ABC Transmission in Tacoma, WA because when I called and talked with Sean, he knew the era of transmission I was talking about and the potential issues that go on with it, without missing a beat. He even told me things that others shops did not already and when I took Sean's knowledge to ask others about those facts of information, some didn't even seem to know what I was talking about,.The ones who didn't want to sell me a rebuilt trans, said they would look at the fluids, probably change it and/or do a flush and go from there.Sean enlightened me that changing or flushing fluids could create more problems than just driving it until it fails or dies, essentially putting me ahead of the game in the end.Now being confident in ABC's integrity, I took Sean's recommendation of another local Tacoma service shop I might consider having the work done at, and drove over there and made an appointment after talking to the manager and feeling very comfortable with his recommendation.I can't say enough about Sean and his staff, starting with Kaitlyn, who answered my call(s) and was extremely friendly, competent and thorough even throughout my seemingly neurotic issues which included rescheduling my drop off date multiple times due to family issues, my crazy schedule and the need to commute back and forth via The Sounder train and multiple buses from Auburn to Tacoma and back.This company is straightforward and clearly not trying to take advantage of me. In fact, they wouldn't even let me leave a $20.00 bill for their coffee and donut fund.Let me once again extend my overwhelming appreciation to EVERYONE at ABC Transmission in Tacoma, WA!

I wouldn't take my vehicles anywhere else to get my transmissions worked on! Already had one done, and they did amazing work. Now, have another vehicle in their.Try them out, and you will see how amazing they are yourself.

This place is awesome! It's hard to find honesty, excellent quality workmanship, and great customer service in one place. Well, I found it at ABC! I was very emotional when I spoke with them (tired of car trouble), and they were so cool about it. They didn't even look at me weird, lol. I could tell they were not judging me at all. They understood I was frustrated with my situation. The communication I received during my service was excellent. The complimentary 2 week check-up is a nice service to offer. Also, it's nice to offer the free diagnostic. My experience could not have been better. I will be a return customer for life and recommend friends and family. Thank you, ABC, you guys, and rock stars!

We had to take our car in here due to an Oil leak. They went above and beyond trying to fix the problem. After all the work they put into it they still couldn t figure out where the leak was coming from. They rightfully could ve charged us for all the labor they put into it even though it wasn t fixed. But Ray called us and told us that there was no charge since they couldn t fix the leak. This was a huge blessing being that we probably have to take it to the dealership now and have them figure it out. And dealerships are expensive. Thanks Ray!!

I've used this place for several years now and have had the best of experiences with them... They've got an excellent track record with me and the one thing that did have an issue was covered under their warranty and was promptly fixed and returned to my customer...

Amazing customer service and vehicle service! I went somewhere before ABC and they wanted to rebuild my transmission. Turns out my transmission fluid was the only thing needing to be changed and there was no evidence of damage. ABC saved me thousands. David was amazing and kept me informed some everything he was doing and what he saw in my transmission. 10/10 will always recommend and come back for future transmission repairs and maintenance.Service: Transmission

Brought my vehicle in for transmission diagnostics. I was Quoted $2,500-ish for a no-warranty transmission replacement, and over $6,000-ish for new transmission with a warranty. Got a 2nd opinion from Vern's over by Lincoln High. Turns out it was a Shift Solenoid replacement. Cost me about $500 to repair. Stay thirsty my friends.

All I can say is that they quoted me a price without any other options. I took in my vehicle to have the transmission checked and was told that I needed to have the whole thong replaced. Which would cost me over $6,000. I wasn't offered a rebuild or repair of any other kind, and that just didn't sit well with me.

Was initially referred by Midas of Federal Way. Absolutely amazing customer service - friendly and helpful staff from the front desk to the garage. Free diagnosis and very affordable service. David was wonderful to work with, and now my car runs like new. I cannot recommend them enough. They are worth every penny, and I will be telling everyone with a transmission to take their car to ABC. Thank you for extending the life of my car!!Service: Transmission

Update: Spoke with Ray at ABC and he apologized for not communicating the final price difference and reimbursed be for a replacement ashtray. I appreciate that they called me to try to fix my problems.Mediocre experience. Got a used transmission installed on my vehicle and when I went to pick it up, the price was higher than the remaining balance listed on my deposit receipt. Was informed that an addipart was necessary, however I was never called to approve or at least be informed that a change was made to the work order. I get that unexpected things may happen on a big job but to be surprised with a higher bill when I went to pickup the car soured my mood. Then I got to my car only to find out that my Ashtray got broken during their possession. Two strikes, I'll consider elsewhere next transmission job...

Took my car in for warranty service today. When I got there, I was told it was going to be $300 for a fluid change. Had my husband speak with Ray who just yelled the entire time. Very uncomfortable for me and unpleasant. Will never recommend this shop or go back.

I had transmission work done here after a Valvoline technician damaged my transmission during an oil change service (I still don't understand how that's possible). They paid for the damages but are not giving me the invoice of service.I called ABC twice directly to obtain my invoice. David and Ray each refused to offer my invoice, stating that the oil change shop was their customer. I iterated that I am the legal registered owner and am willing to prove it to obtain the invoice of repairs performed on my car. They still refused, stating that I was not their customer.I am suspicious of what ABC and Valvoline may be trying to hide due to both not offering me the invoice of service.Completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

One of their trucks was riding my tail yesterday, waving his arms at me. I was not going to speed up to pass the cars I needed to get in the right lane so I slowed down to get behind the car next to me. Trucked waved his arms at me more and when he was going by me swerved at me, actually coming into my lane like he wanted me to know I was lucky he didn't hit me. Pretty dangerous game to play with a professional business's truck. If that's their level of professionalism would I want to go here? Nope.Had my son get photo and called it in though.

I had transmission rebuild and replacement work done by this shop.After over a month to complete n several thousand dollars, transmission performance failed in less than 2 years. By the way, while my car was at this shop, they broke my ignition switch. They did though replace it at no charge for me obviously, but my car came back with multiple problem caused by it. I had to take it to dealer by myself to redo all.So, I took my car back to this shop to get it fixed since it was still under warranty, I had debate myself though if I should forget about warranty from this shop n take it to somewhere else due to the first bad experience but I decided to give it one more try. I couldn't move my car, so I had to ask for towing, that's only thing I appreciate them providing free towing.This second time getting worked on at this shop, again it took over a month. Now, my car is parked again, transmission performance is failing after only 3months.I'm waiting for the appointment with somewhere else, never again with this shop.Update...Just found out with another shop that transmission was bad and needed to be replaced or rebuild AGAIN.My transmission was rebuilt the second time by ABC transmission 4 months ago after initial rebuild transmission replacement failed in less than 2years.What a waste of time and money...

I would like to say ABC Transmission is the best. I am new to the area and they understood that and reassured me they would figure out what was going on with my Tahoe. I thought it was my Transmission due to hearing gurgling sounds. They said it was my engine mount. They fixed it in a timely manner and I received my vehicle without hearing the gurgling sounds. I am so happy they were able to fix the issue and they were very kind as well. Being without a vehicle can be difficult but knowing my vehicle was in good hands and with trusted professionals I am very confident in using them in the future.

These guys will take care of you and they stand by their work. No charge for diagnosis and their estimates are transparent and competitive. I had a horrible experience at another shop who did shoddy work. ABC made it right. Huge thank you to David for all of his help and making sure my car is done right! You cannot go wrong with ABC.

A couple of months ago, my transmission started acting up and it was suggested that I get my transmission flushed. Instead of the auto repair shop questioning me, they did so and it may or may not have resulted in my transmission going south. My choices were to get a loan and get another car that was ridiculously priced (and used) or dump several thousand dollars into a rebuilt transmission. My mechanic suggested I go to ABC Transmission.I was skeptical about the cost, but after doing my research, I decided to have ABC do the work. Not only did they do a great job in under the time they quoted me (and not a penny over the price they quoted me!), they kept me informed along the way, they went over the proper way to care for my transmission and took the time to reassure me along the way.But I do need to mention Michael. I was beside myself that this happened. My dad and brother, who were my two mechanics, both died suddenly last year and I didn't know who to turn to. Not only was Michael fantastic at being honest, no matter the message, he was so kind to me, knowing that I was quite lost. When I brought it back for the 500-mile check up, they found a small fault and he had them take care of it right then and there because he knew I was coming from across the bridge.Originally, I was going to continue maintaining my transmission with a closer shop, but I'm not going to do that. I'll be bringing my car back here because trusting the people working on my car is far more important to me than having it done closer to home. It's not that far anyway.Kudos to ABC for being patient with me in my anxiety, and especially to Michael for sharing his expertise and his kindness. Hi! I worked with Mike at ABC transmission. They were amazing to me and very very kind. They let me keep my car in the shop over the weekend while I worked out what to do with an old car.They were honest and very concerned about me and my car and treated me like family.
