Hit or miss here with take out. Always order the same thing tell them to make sure it s a particular noodle dish since they have 3 kinds of noodles.Get home to have the wrong noodles, not even close to what we orders special noodle it was some spaghetti stuff with weird veggies in it.Called to let them know since we won t eat it and we spent almost $60. Lady argued with us that she put in what we ordered & kept saying too bad . So told her we would dispute the whole transaction since we couldn t all eat dinner . Not sure if it was a new prison or what BUT I told her 10 times it s the special noodles with chicken she kept saying special house only chicken which is a different dish and WAY more money as it is full of seafood as well. I said NOOO no seafood just the special noodles chicken. She even asked someone what it was House special noodles only chicken and was told no just special noodles chicken, She even repeated the word special to me when we recored the order. Finally after 5 min of arcing that s not what we ordered she got the manager & said we could come get the right food. Now I understand making mistakes!! BUT arguing with people who spend $100+ a week at your establishment isn t a good things to do! You made a mistake & you acted like you didn t know the menu when I ordered & you blamed us!!!Not cool. Always check Togo orders when you get take out here and watch out for the rude waitress.

Chen s has been around for a long time. There are two locations: Long Beach and South Bend. This review is for the South Bend restaurant. You can definitely count on a filling meal when you eat here. The portions are good. We started off with the crab puffs. They were ok. Not great, but ok. I feel like they should be called cream cheese puffs instead. The crab was nonexistent. Tasty, but not quite up to excellent crab puff status. My husband got his usual combo plate consisting of sweet and sour pork, fried shrimp, fried rice and chicken chow mein. He liked it. But he s pretty easy to please! Everything was hot and fresh tasting so that was good.I opted for the beef and broccoli. It was good, too. The carrots and broccoli weren t smooshy, the beef was tender and the gravy tasty. All pretty decent. You re not going to get fancy schmancy Chinese cuisine here, but you will get a decent Americanize Chinese meal. The restaurant itself is pretty dated. Could use a nice renovation, but it s clean. The waitress was the one excellent element during our meal. Five stars for her. She was the only one waiting tables on a very busy Friday night and she was hustling. On top of that she didn t forget one thing requested, and service delivered with a friendly smile and kind words. Definitely worthy of a hefty tip.Overall, Chen s was a decent place to eat, if you re not expecting a fine dining experience. Just good, old American Chinese food.

We enjoyed dining at Chen's today. The food and service were phenomenal as usual. I love their egg foo young and pork fried rice. My father loves their sweet and spicy soup. He always gets some extra for takeaway when we visit. My husband had the Chef's Special Beef dish and had them add a little extra spice. He said it was excellent. The spice started small and built to a slow, sweet burn. Very tasty!! Our server, Rebecca, was knowledgeable, prompt, and friendly. She treated us with the courtesy we've come to expect from Chen's. We'll be dining there again when we get back down that way.Food & drinks: Very good food

Chen s has it all. The owner is one of the nicest and wholesome people I have ever met. The food is incredible, I have eaten here with my wife multiple times in the last few months and have never had a bad meal, it was perfect every time. If you re driving through South bend or live in the area make sure to stop in at Chen s they have some of the best food in town.

Great service - but I gotta say it y all: Bad bad icky food. Like surprisingly terrible!Maybe I caught them on an off day but everything I had was over-fried and there were 0 noodles in my chowmein. I m not kidding. Look at my photo. It was a big globby mess of cabbage, onion and chicken but no real noodles. It had some chunky fried noodle garnish things. Maybe that s what made it chow mein? The egg rolls are fried like fish and chips like thickly breaded and not thin and crispy like a regular egg roll. Also see photo.Honestly, maybe I just ordered the wrong stuff because I was coming through town and not a local.Did the special combo with egg roll, chow mein, crab puffs and sweet and sour chicken hate to be mean but I honestly couldn t really eat any of it and I LOVE Chinese and am not a picky eater! Even the fortune cookie was stale Server was super kind tho and energy inside the restaurant was chill which I appreciated. the tea was also hot and good and space itself was totally clean. Just wish the food tasted tasty.

We drove all the way from Gig Harbor (120 miles) to enjoy the quality food and service provided by the Chen Family Chinese food restaurant. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Service was very good and the waitresses were extremely pleasant and to the point. The meal was as good as it gets and filled the plate from side to side. We were never given the Bums Rush as we stayed and BS'd for several hours. The restaurant was clean and the air was fresh. The waitresses took time from their busy day to talk to us making us feel @ home. I can say with the most confidence that we will be making this trip again to our favorite Chinese Restaurant in Washington

Always clean inside and out. Staff is friendly and efficient. The walnut shrimp. OMG! Yep, that good. Wife and I have missed the taste of a good steak and after our visit, we still are. We ordered 2 strip steaks, cooked perfectly however, the quality if the cuts left a lot to be desired. A large amount of fat and gristle for a strip steak. 25% was unedible. We still frequent Chen's. We will just be sure to order their great chinese dishes.

Rebecca our server was outstanding! She was prompt, friendly and anticipated our needs bringing to go containers to pack up the abundance of leftovers. The food was full of fresh vegetables and lightly breaded - excellent value. We enjoyed the quaint, nostalgic experience. The place was impeccably clean including the washrooms. Will definitely be back during our next road trip through South Bend!

Pleasantly surprised! My wife had the egg roles and cashew nut chicken and I had a burger and fries ( yes burger and fries :-)I would never have thought that a Chinese restaurant would have a good burger and fries but they did.The fortune cookies appeared to be house made and they were the best we have ever had. Service wonderful. I could go on and on but to sum it up in one word. AMAZING

Terrible waitress! I came in was seated I ordered. 3 groups of people came in after me not all at once. She had to clean a table for the first ones, which is fine but they were all seated ordered got there soup and appetizers as I sat there ignored. I got up went to the other waitress which was nice I explained the situation and she apologized. I was going to go ahead and stay then the other waitress came up and I told her everyone got their soup and appetizers she said not very nicely"I get busy" so I left after 20 minutes. If you work with the public try smiling and being pleasant. If your not a people person then get a new job! I will not be going back as long as she is there.

In these Covid times, I didn't dine in. So, I cannot include in my review how the table service was. However, the take-out was delicious, and the young woman who took my order, and brought it out to me was friendly and thoughtful (she offered to carry the box it to my car for me). Also, they were very busy. When I called my order in, the afore mentioned young woman warned me of the wait time.In all the busyness, she did forget my steamed rice. But, when I called her back she gave a heartfelt apology then offered to replace my small, steamed rice with a large. My husband and I were hungry and didn't want to drive back to get it. So, she took my name and said the next time I came in, they would give me a free, large steamed rice. Very nice.

Simple, clean, comfortable & perfect location to stay at while fishing Willapa Bay and so close to launch at the South Bend boat launch! After fishing - go to your room, clean up a little and go eat a Chinese dinner at Chen's restaurant right in the parking lot! It is delicious, again clean, and very comforting! The next morning, except Mondays when the restaurant is closed, if you're a hotel guest you get a free egg, pancake, the size of a dinner plate, and coffee for free. You can also change it to something on the menu and get credit for that amount towards the alternate item! We love the Hobo Scramble! Paul, Yen and their crew are great hosts!

Excellent food, great service, and friendly staff! I stay here every summer so everyday I can go to Long Beach in no time flat. The food is very good and very amazingly short wait! I don't know what people are saying, this is legit my favorite restaurant and stop here all the time on road trips for a quick snack and cool or warm drinks. EXCELLENT!

All about the restaurant, people from Westport, Grayland and Tokeland make the 30+ minute drive to get this trusted Asian cuisine. House rice or noodles are the perfect choice for someone who wants a little chicken, pork, and shrimp.

Waitress brought my Egg Drop Soup without a way to eat it. Gave her a minute to realize, finally had to go ask. She didn't provide good service, BUT, the food came hot, and it was good and plentiful. Unfortunately we had to leave what we didn't eat since we were on the road.

Giving this place 5 stars for their quality of food and their service. The waitress accidentally wrote a wrong item on our ticket and made sure even after we said it was ok...she brought the correct food item to our table with no additional charge. Had an amazing family dinner at this place and have plans to go back in the future.
