This is the only place I take my automotive parts to get machined. Today, I brought in a 2012 2.4l to get resurfaced. The gentleman at the counter is always extremely helpful in getting you what you need and at a fair price. I have also experienced fast turnaround times. Usually 24 hours, which is very fast. This shop has some knowledgeable and skilled workers. In MY opinion, this is the best machine shop in Snohomish and King County.

They refuse every job ive ever tried to give them, basic stuff even, like resurface, or size some rods, or align bore, every time i go there they just say they are too busy, when i ask when to come back they wont say or give a date, they stay busy somehow but wont accept my business and are always rude about it, go somewhere else dont waste your time, i keep wasting mine because they are nearby, go literally anywhere else, autosport seattle, DG machine, Cam Grinders Inc, all much better

@Taizo Curry, The Man on the phone does seem short at first but I know they are SLAMMED that being said I also had some novice questions, my engine has recently blown on my very first car so its been beyond heartbreaking/stressful for me... once I had kind of poorly explained my situation thee employee on the phone steered me in the right direction with my repair process. At the end of our call they seemed more than happy to have gotten me back on track, so far this is my experience with Action Machine. So are they short with you ? probably but will they also get you taken care of also yes.10/26/23 I will update this as I go.

Gentleman was short with me on the phone when I called asking some beginner's questions about my first rebuild. Over the 5-10 minute call, I felt as though he was uninterested in meeting me where I was at, offering me advice, or perhaps he just didn't want to touch my engine. To give him benefit of the doubt, I HAD called near closing time. Also possible that he's overworked... whatever it was, I understand. That was my sole verbal interaction with a representative of this company.Several weeks since then, I've emailed Action Machine Shop with specific questions regarding work I'd like done on my engine and requesting a quote. I have not heard back in 4 business days.By this point I've seen zero interest from Action Machine in taking my money & business.I may not be their ideal client. At this point, between two well-known shops in the Seattle area, I'm happy sitting on the 6-month waiting list for Pacific Auto Machine. I'd rather wait my turn than beg this shop on my hands and knees to work on my lowly Toyota 4 cylinder, let alone teach me a thing or two.

I needed an engine rebuilt for a rare classic. I found an engine that had previously been "machined". It had been sitting for a long time, so I took it to Action to be checked out for it's quality and structural integrity. They checked my engine for cracks and quality of previous work from another shop. They advised me that the cylinders were not round, and their was taper on the crank journals. I opted for a complete rebuild, and am extremely pleased with the outcome. I now have a correct build date engine to complete a Shelby restoration.

I was in need of having my high performance drag race engine freshened up when another racer recommended Action Machine. In the past I have had bad experiences with other machine shops and their dishonesty. I can say my experience with Action Machine has been outstanding since the first day I contacted them. They re friendly and accommodating business model was exactly what I had hoped for and more. The team at Action Machine kept me up to date during the entire build and finished on time with the pricing that was quoted. I was more than pleased with the honesty and integrity this business had to offer and I can only hope others will follow their lead.Service: Engine repair

I'm a retired guy and like to help out family and neighbors with their cars. Had a car with a rough idle and a leak down showed the problem to be a bad exhaust valve. Action Machine has detailed pricing on their website and from that I quoted the customer a price. 2 hours of my labor to remove the head and an hour to drive to Action only to find out the prices on their website aren't accurate. The new price was +$200 more than what I had quoted my customer. This is called Bait and Switch, is dishonest and broke any trust I had with this business. Didn't feel I could trust them if they told me I had bent valves, worn guides or a warped surface. Discussed with the customer and they decided this was out of their budget and had also lost confidence in this shop to do honest work.I retrieved the head before they did any thing. My customer will bank the $$$ and just put up with the rough idle.Service: Engine repair

I needed an 11.5" flywheel resurfaced, on the website the cost for a 13" diameter and under flywheel is $42.75 and the cost to removal and replace dowel pins is $0.25. I was charged 67.50 for resurfacing and $3.50 per dowel pin. I would have called beforehand to confirm pricing if I was getting a more complicated service, but I didn't think that was necessary after looking on the website specifically at flywheel resurfacing pricing. Good service but I feel like I was done dirty.

Rob was great to work with on my slightly different engine build. Machine work was great, everything fit perfect when I went to put it together, they were able to help suggest parts when I wasn't sure what to use, and recommended other resources for information and tuning.Service: Motor buildingService: Motor building

First off, anybody who writes a review that reads "No help at all" really is no help at all. I mean, is this a paid troll? What does this really add? I've now brought four cylinder heads to these guys for repair, and they've quickly become my go-to machine shop. They repaired my VW 2.0 EOS head for $250 when a shop in Auburn quoted me $1000 for the same head. And the work they did on that head and every one I've brought in since has been top-notch. The turnaround time has been great as well. If you go into Action on any given day, you'll find dozens of heads waiting to be machined. There's a reason these guys are swamped with orders: They know what they're talking about and they do great work for a fair price.

The motor for my racecar has been to Action Machine twice now. The first was a basic rebuild and the second time the focus was maximizing performance. The most important thing you should know is that the motor RIPS. It is fast enough that other teams with the same motor have accused us of cheating; in racing that is the ultimate compliment. One thing I was also impressed by was their interest in understanding the rulebook for our particular racing series - they asked lots of questions to ensure their suggestions were legal for our car/class.A few tips if you haven't worked with Action before: 1) leave lots of time on your project calendar. There isn't many shops here and Action is busy because they are great. 2) be super clear with any timeline expectations/deadlines you have up front, right when you drop your parts off 3) don't be a know it all with these guys and don't be put off by their "attitude". honestly, I end up answering most of their questions with "i don't understand the difference" and every time I do the conversation slows down and they explain it to me really well.

I rented a garage next door to them and I bought a few spark plugs and gear oil from them for my landscaping tools. They know a lot.. I only stayed a few months and closed up.Now at home, the nearest action auto parts is completely out of my way on aurora when i live in wedgwood. I go to lake city for shopping for auto parts at other stores because action auto is out of my way.

Contacted action machine shop about doing work to a motor and was told that "I could close my shop and work till June and be just fine I don't need to deal with your build" even with all the referrals and I would have been willing to pay and travel to drop off and pick up my materials and block I think I will explore other options be careful Rob seems to be a bit arrogant and not very customer friendly or care about his clients

Was told over the phone to come in and they could help me. Show up and there are crack heads in the parking lot and a rude guy tells me they are 180 days behind. And my best bet is to go to California. What a waist of time.

Went in here for a quote on a flywheel. Guy was very laid back and upfront, even with his hands full on the phone, etc. Awesome service. I'll definitely be recommending people to go here.
