Had my Mini Cooper brought there and I picked it up today. They did such a great job on my car! It is running better than ever and the service was wonderful. Highly knowledgeable and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants a quality repair!

Took my Yukon in for an alignment, they fit me in next day which a greatly appreciate. When I got the vehicle back, it had a new code, they told me to bring it back next week. I brought it back, was told the tech that did the alignment wasn't in the office, he would call me back. I asked if someone else could plug in the snap on computer and scan for codes to see if it was something cause by the alignment, or a coincidence. The office staff told me it wasn't that simple, you don't just "plug it in and scan for codes". Fast forward TWO WEEKS, still no call back. I took the Yukon to another shop, who plugged their Snap-on computer in, read the codes, determined the steering wheel position sensor needed to be recalibrated because of the alignment. They re-calibrated it, and had the Yukon fixed in less than 5 minutes (something that should have been done after the alignment, the original time). I just called the shop back to explain the situation and let them know I no longer needed a call back (after two weeks, I doubt I would have received one anyways), and I got a "sorry, thanks for letting us know you don't a call back". Very disappointed with the communication and what seems to be a lack of caring about customer concerns and follow up. I gave a two star rating because they were able to get me an alignment next day.

Last year, these guys repaired my head gaskets, what should ve taken a week or two took them over three months! After I called them every week, and sometimes when I called them they forgot they even had my car in their lot. and when the project was finally done they neglected to tell me that my lower connecting rods were damaged. As a result, i have to replace my entire motor. Oh, and they broke my key in the door because they couldn t figure out how to use the keyless entry. For the sake of your well-being and your car do not go to this garage for repairs.In response to their response, I would consider the issue rectified if I were to receive a full refund

Thank you to the whole crew, you were amazing!!!! It started with a good and informative respectful conversation about their procedures!!! They then got me an appointment in 2 days!!!! The diagnosis and estimate then followed in a timely manner!!!! Expecting , what could have been a huge bill, the expert and meticulous detail from a knowledge mechanic, he nailed it!!! The bill was a delight, having expecting an large labor and parts bill. Thank you Vanderwals!!! Will refer you to all my friends and family!!!

My wife and I were getting ready to drive across the country and the team at Vander Wal's were extremely courteous and helpful in getting our cars ready. They were thorough and knowledgable in the work they did and showed great customer service in explaining any issues they found and the necessary fixes (the lady at the front desk was very sweet). We completed our long drive without any issues at all on our cars! I would highly recommend going here if you need help with your car!

New to the city, I required immediate, extensive, expensive repairs on my vehicle. I needed a service company that would accept my particular 'car care' account and stay wiithin my budget. I found Vander Wal's to be thoughtful in offering me advice on how to assure the most important repairs were completed first. They kept within my budget and explained qualified suggested repairs to me, allowing me to make decisions that were presently most necessary. I would recommend them to anyone who is searching for pleasant interaction and accommodating auto service.

My family have been customers of Vanderwal's garage for years. I truly feel like they genuinely care about our safety on the roads. We just recently had a mishap with one of our cars and they got our vehicle in quickly to assess the problem, gave us a fair estimate for services, ordered the parts quickly, so they could make the repairs and get us back on the road. I highly recommend this garage. Don and Sue Vanderwal truly are the best, I can't imagine being treated any differently if I were one of their own kids (which I am not) they just make me feel as cared for as if I were family. Try them out, they won't disappoint!

I received very professional service from these folks. Honest and quality work done to my vehicle. Had an issue and was able to take my vehicle in the following day. Folks diagnosed and addressed the main issue, they also suggested a couple other routine maintenance things that DID need to be taken care of. Long story short, my vehicle actually runs better than it did prior to my issue, and without the knowledge and professionalism of the staff and owner I would have had major issues down the road. The work took a few days however I needed a lot done and was expecting it. I would take my vehicle here again and would highly recommend these folks to anyone. Thank you everyone at Vander Wal's.

Amending my previous review, despite how long it took and how many setbacks there were, they took amazing care of my old Sable, now she runs better than I ever remember her running the entire time she's been in the family.

Once again VanderWals garage has EXCEEDED expectations. They got us in immediately, got us road ready and even took the time to go over all that we needed. This place has been an absolute pleasure to work with. A huge thank you to Sue in the office who was super helpful and so sweet. I called this shop because they gave me the option of towing. My car would not start and we couldn t figure out what was wrong. I called Thursday and they said they could pick my car up Monday. They did not show up the following Thursday (I get it they are busy). They fixed my car by Saturday by replacing a starter sensor. Wednesday rolls around and I drive to work in Olympia and after work I go to start my car and it s doing the same thing that it was doing before. I called the garage and I ask them if they can come tow it and they declined, so I had to get it towed to the Mazda dealership. They diagnosed it and found out what the problem was, so I called back to Vanderwals and let them know that they fixed the wrong thing and what they replaced didn t fix my car and asked if they refund me just for the part and not the tow. The guy was not very nice to me and was talking in circles saying that my car was working just fine and it must have been something I did. I would not not recommend these guys, they didn t even offer to fix the problem or try to help me out. So, now I have to pay more money for a problem that I already though was fixed

Major disconnect from techs to office communication.Check engine light(knock sensor code) is still on after over $700.00 in replacing expensive parts there. They don't have any interest in helping find the issue in a customers time frame or provide any relief that they did wrong. My attitude changed when they tried to sell me items unrelated to "check engine light" that I came in for. These are not technicians, they just replace parts and try to sell you more. Beware.

I am quite pleased with Vanderwal's service and I would definitely recommend them! They got me in right away when I told them I had a scary ticking sound in my engine. They assessed the situation quickly (ended up being a timing belt/ water pump issue that could have killed my car) and fixed it quickly as well! They are very kind and professional! Thank you Vanderwall's, I will be back!

I had some minor work done here that I could have done myself, but having them do it would be a good way to check them out before having other, more extensive work done. The work done was OK, but the Service Advisor was sorely lacking in customer service skills. I won t be back.

I came to Shelton to visit my mom. My car ended up breaking down. They figured out it was my 4x4 wheel module. They ordered the part on Tuesday June 28th, ended up receiving the wrong part on Friday June 30th. The owner/mechanic ended up going to Olympia after they closed that day to get the right part. They are absolutely wonderful. They were very kind and were willing to make arrangements for me to get the work done that was needed. Would definitely recommend them for anyone getting work done in that area.

I recommended this place for my daughter to get work done on her car. They did not communicate well meaning that they didn t call her during the two weeks they had her car. When my daughter and her husband called them the lady made rude references to my daughters knowledge to my son in law that has zero knowledge! The actual work done was professional and well done. If only dealing with the lady in the office was equally as professional. I am really angry that she is so disrespectful of other women!! Shame on you!!

Brought my car in at 9am as agreed over the phone the day prior, took them all the way to 5pm just to tell me that replacing a serpentine belt and the high pressure power steering hose would of costed a little under 600. Luckily a friend of mine pointed out that could easily be done for a little over 100. Afterwards I had got my car and they charged me 68 bucks just to look at it. Wouldn t recommend this business and don t EVER tell them your spending limit because they will squeeze all of it out. If I could give 0 stars I would.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

Terrible Customer Service. I was an hour from home and my truck went out. I normally try and fix stuff myself as everything is beyond expensive. Truck died while driving. Called a few auto shops in Shelton and this place stated a $170 diagnostic fee. On top of my already almost $200 dollar towing price. They said they could probably look at it that day and maybe fix it tomorrow. I had it at their shop before 11am and they new I was out of town. I came in and waited to be greeted. I waited, and waited. She said nothing to me or asked if I need help. After about 10 mins I walked out to see if my truck was their and thus place new I was getting my truck towed there. I walked out and the gal then decides to ask if I need some help. I told her my truck I getting towed here and that ai had called earlier. The lack of care, empathy, customer service and respect was absurd.I stated that I had changed the starter, battery, engine control module and fuel pump relay 2 weeks ago, so I could help then narrow down on diagnostics. She said we'll we have to charge you $195 for diagnostics because we have to relook at everything you did.They never called me. I waited for some sort of call on the status.I called around 2pm to get the status of my truck and gave the gal up front my name and make and model. As I had dropped it of and talked to her directly, she knew who I was.She said she hadn't written up the paper work yet, I asked to give me an idea of something. She said my timing belt, water pump and other stuff but that she still needs to write up the paper work. I said okay I will wait for your call. They close at 5pm and now it's 5:30pm and STILL NO CALL. I'm looking into pricing of that stuff, and btw my truck has a timing chain, not belt. And I was worried, had to get a ride back home late that evening because I was waiting for their call. SOMETHING.I Called the next morning and still no one had an answer for me. They finally called me back a little past 11am and tell me the truck is fixed and it was my fuel pump relay.I was most thankful it was a 2k-3k fix but dumbfounded it was something I had changed just 2 weeks prior.....I was shocked bc the information given to me was completely wrong and that they gave me bad information twice. I told the head mechanic that I had changed the relay, she rudely said "what you say does not matter". I was just dumbfounded. This truck has been in my family for 3 generations and we have worked on it time and time again......but my words don't matter.Apparently my money to you doesn't matter because I will never use you again. Out of desperation I came to you, but you lack credibility, faith and respect for customers. I would not recommend.My husband went to pick up the truck, and he waited to be greeted and the owners wife still ignored him. He had to greet her.......terrible Customer Service. I had dropped a piece of plastic in my gas tank and spoke to I believe a guy named Jason ( very nice)and he gave me a quote for around 500 to 600 I mentioned I was having trouble opening my door and he said they would fix that for free, I have a friend that goes to them but said he couldn't say if they were good because they just changed oil in his vehicle so I decided to go there because the person I talked to on phone seemed nice! Long story short I got a call from Sue 2 days later telling me I needed oil change tune up and 3 bulbs fixed totaling to 1300 I gave permission to do the work and asked to have tires rotated while it was there, they had car 2 weeks went to pick up and one bulb was not working so they changed right away then drove home and oil light came on I had to go out of town for a week so parked it and came home started it up and bulb was out and oil light was still coming on so brought back to garage and was told the think I need a new oil sensor and didn't want to put another bulb in because he thought needed a new connector, so I will be going elsewhere! Also was charged 112 dollars to fix door and no mention of tire rotation on receipt ! Sue was very condescending on phone when I called to let her know my bulb was out and oil light was on!

Sue drove me home after I dropped off my car for service, and pointed out several local businesses in need of support during these incredibly tough times. Excellent experience! Two years in a row have relied on Vanderwal's to tune up my 2009 Nissan Quest minivan. On Monday the 22nd of February I dropped my truck off with some hesitation issues, it ran fine but stuttered in acceleration. On Wednesday I called to see if it would be done before the weekend, I needed the truck. The lady at the front desk answered, and said "oh I was going to call you"I have your the list of item from the mechanic, but I haven't had a chance to put together a bid. She read a laundry list of items from transmission flush, brakes are pulsating, oil change, I said no I can save you some time on the quote, I don't want those things. I just want to fix the issue I brought it in for, and you can do the license plate light, the platinum intake service, the plugs, serpentine belt, and the bad coil. I figured it would be around $500, but I'd bite the bullet and have it done. I never received a quote for the work that was being done, just a call to say the truck will be done this afternoon, and if you want the airbag light off it will be another $173. I asked how much is it now, she said it's $1,229, and with the pretensioner for the airbag it will be $14hundred and something, but at that point I wasn't really listening. I was flabbergasted that they had run up a bill of over a thousand dollars without a quoted price. I did some research on amazon of the parts needed to do the work, which came to a whopping $140.36. I understand being in business, just not in the business of screwing your customers. It was the first time I ever visited the business, and the last.Service: Engine repair

I was looking for a reliable, locally owned auto repair, since I am new to Shelton. I asked around and heard this name come up a lot.The Vander Wals (Don and Sue) truly go the extra mile for their customers. They did an amazing job on a major leak in my sunroof and trough. It is hard to find a honest and dependable service team. Vander Wal's is that team. They have repaired and serviced everything correctly. My truck had steering issues that I could not resolve for years, Vander Wal's corrected the problem.
