I chose Tom's Automotive because of its excellent reviews. I was not disappointed. They did a stellar job in bringing my 18-year-old Scion xB to like-new driving condition. It needed a lot of work, and Tom's came through at a reasonable cost for parts and labor - and all within less time than I expected. Well done, you guys.

I had a kia that was stalling. I took it to Kia, Renton twice and they said my car was in tip top shape and there were no problems. I made an appointment at Tom's. They researched why Kia's stall and tested those parts. They found the problem that day and fixed it. They are very kind and great to work with.

Highly recommend. My car was making a disturbing noise and I was concerned if I should even be driving it around for safety reasons. Tom's didn't have an appointment available for a few weeks but suggested I come in for a test drive today to check if there's a safety concern. Instantly diagnosed the issue, patiently and absolutely non-condescendingly explained it all to me (I know nothing of cars) and instead of charging me a million dollars to fix it, suggested I take it back to the previous shop since it was still likely under warranty there and can get fixed for free (which it did). Big Thanks to John at Tom's. I will definitely use Tom's for all my future car needs.

this place is great! good techs, service and knowledge of their craft. Only negative, gripe, complaint... they don't work with warranty companies. More and more people are purchasing extended warranty policies to protect them from a major financial disaster.(shame on ALL auto makers Ford, Chevy, Toyota...) but overall great auto service!thanks Tom's see you at next routine service. The owner Kandie has a great crew! She cares about her customers, and we get that same feeling and level of attention from her crew. They take care of our entire fleet and when were in a pinch with a vehicle they help us diagnose and resolve the problem as quickly as is reasonably possible. They are professional and informative when explaining a problem and making recommendations. This is a great local business and I highly recommend Tom's Automotive.

John just now helped me out mounting my front license plate which required a safety Allen wrench to screw it on securely. I offered to pay and he said it was fine; I live locally and will use Tom s for my car s service from now on. Thanks again, John!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tom's Automotive for some maintenance work on my Honda, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with their service - they were dialed in. From the moment I called, I was greeted with a warm welcome and professional attitude from the team.The staff was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the issues with my car in detail, giving me peace of mind knowing that my car was in good hands. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly and efficiently, and provided me with an accurate estimate for the repair costs.The work was done promptly and to an incredibly high standard, with a level of attention to detail that truly exceeded my expectations. I was able to get in there so quickly today. I had to wait 10 minutes, from calling for an appointment, but the wait was primarily because he was being very kind and thorough with another customer on the phone who had a whole lot of questions.While waiting, the person at the desk was super-friendly and we chatted and all was good.I had was a check-engine-light alert because I forgot my gas cap at 711. They cleared it in what seemed like 4 minutes, and all super-nice the whole time. The technician was even pleasantly steadfast about checking my oil for me.Total thumbs up. The process from estimate to work being done to payment was smooth, quick, and easy. Everyone I dealt with was professional and personable. I needed more work done than I expected but was guided through the process with frequent communication about must-have fixes. I met Kandie through a West Seattle Chamber event and I love supporting Chamber members. When I first walked into the office with no appointment, I was greeted by Kandie who immediately recognized me.I LOVED how CLEAN and professional the front office area was! How many auto shops can you say that about!They were booked two weeks out just to diagnose, but they fit me into their schedule for the test and then gave me a very thorough and not pushy run down on what my car needed, and then completed the work sooner than anticipated.My Mini is running smooth again and got a lot of other maintenance items done that I've put off way too long.Thank you team!

I don't often have good things to say about auto repair, but this is an exception. I brought a Mini Cooper to Tom's Auto, and to be honest I was a little worried because of the specialty nature of some of the parts and tools. My Mini hasn't ever seen a mechanic that wasn't at the Mini dealership. I couldn't have been more wrong and regret not trying them sooner! They diagnosed the issue with my Mini and were able to fix it quickly. Best part was they were ahead of schedule and under budget. Seriously... who can say that? I am a convert! You know how you live in a big city, and people tell you to be careful, and you need work done on your car, but you don't know any good mechanics, and so you ask all your friends, and they don't know any either? So you spend hours looking at online reviews, and thinking Oh but maybe these aren't real or true for me? Just go here. Small shop, kind and helpful people. Thanks guys!

Courteous and easy scheduling process, dropped my car off before hours and hopped on the bus. They were able to do everything I asked for the same day. Paid by phone and picked up my car after hours. My receipt was thorough and easy to read. They did great work and really made it easy to get my service done. We came into Seattle and had an issue with the car. We went to Toms and they did not have any openings. The amazing gentleman, John, said he would take a look to see what might be wrong so we would at least have an idea. He looked under it in the parking lot and found that a plastic shroud had fallen down. He pulled it in and fixed it for us.Amazing customer service!!!!!!!Thank you

My wife had transmission problems on our suburban and I the husband am 4 hours away. She called Tom s and they said bring it in and we will look at it. Tom himself looked at it without hesitation and diagnosed the issue. Fixed it to be driveable and printed out the report for my wife for our own mechanic back home. Couldn t thank them enough for their speediness and professionalism. She was in and out in under 15 minutes. Faster than an oil change with a much larger issue. Amazing! Amazing! Subaru battery died on the ferry, so wanted to get it checked out. John took took me in on a moment s notice, checked all indicators, cleaned the connections, checked the oil and sent me on my way in about 10 minutes. Friendly, respectful, professional, fast and spotless bathroom. What else to say? Will be back

I will never go to another shop. Toms is hands down the best always so kind and honest. I had my locking mechanism in my driver's door get stuck couldn't close my door. They helped me right away on the spot. I've recommend them to multiple people. John, Casey, and Candy always great customer service! I brought my 2007 Toyota Prius to Tom's Automotive earlier this week because I had some major warning lights on the dash. They did a diagnostic inspection on it and found multiple fault codes. The kind staff told me to take my car back to Toyota because I just spent $4k there for a hybrid battery replacement a few months ago. They walked me through what to say and gave me a print out of the codes. They could have just charged me to fix my car and made money, but instead they spent their time and energy helping me. Toyota is fixing my car for free as I type this review.The owners name is Kandie and I will be bringing my cars to Tom's Automotive from now on. They have earned my trust and my business and I will be telling everyone else to take their cars there as well.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I am a for-lifer now! My cars check engine light popped on so i called up Tom's and though they didn't have appointments available for a few weeks they said I could come by and have the code read to figure out the issue. John scanned my car and was so helpful walking me through the error codes and how they could be fixed and next steps. Ultimately he cleared the warning lights and said to give him a call if they pop back up. As someone who knows nothing about cars I really appreciated how John walked me through what things meant and didn't pressure me into any repairs. John was so helpful and lovely and I will absolutely be coming back here for the rest of my life now. I wish I could give 10 stars. Thank you!!

Professional and courteous service, but very very expensive relative to other dealers. Their estimate for a brake job was double what I got it done for down the street.Also beware their coupons for oil changes and inspections. There are lots of hidden charges that aren't obvious from the flyer. For example, if your car needs synthetic oil or it requires more than a certain amount of oil, you'll end up with a pretty eye watering bill for an oil change and basic inspection. In my case, $300 for an oil change and multi-point inspection.

I felt that Tom's Auto was not able to provide me the real service I needed and was out for a money grab.Brought my truck into Tom's Automotive for a diagnosis with my front suspension. That initial cost was $176 asked them to check brakes and tires for additional $88. Then a shop supplies fee for $26 dollars. They were very thorough with the inspection of my suspension and under carriage. I was quoted $905 (parts) + $794(labor) to replace my front steering rack and pinion along with the outer tie rods on a 2006 Nissan Frontier. Then also a replacing my left lower ball joint $126(parts) + $441(labor). Then an alignment afterwards $200These were the main ticket items that they claimed would fix my issue. That issue being when going over bumps would get clunk coming from the right front suspension.I felt that these quotes a were a bit high and decided to go to another mechanic outfit in Auburn and was given a completely different set of actual problems. The Clunking noise I was having was actually due to the front strut and shock assembly being loose. This was in the range of diagnosis that Tom's Auto should have been able to discover.The cost of my actual repair totaled out to be $675Their original quote for all work was $3,365.34 after tax.I did not need a lower front ball joint or the steering rack.I did need outer tie rods.The parts that Tom's automotive were going to cost me were $905 for a steering rack with outer tie rods, when searching online I found the exact part they quoted me to replace which was around $500 I understand part mark up but nearly a 100% mark up on parts is ridiculous.The service was also very slow. I had to wait about two weeks for me to even get in for them to look at my truck. And then even while they were looking over my truck they were experiencing their computers to go down. I understand things happen but this seemed to be an on going issue for them.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Asked for a brake pad quote for rear brakes.. I informed them that I didn't need rotors replaced. The young man said it would start around $400-$600 and could quickly go up after inspection. That quote is way higher than even the dealer... My wife and I quickly left.

My cars maintenance required light came in. I'm from out of town and was shipping my car out of state so I needed service fast. Placed a call to get seen right away and was told we could. When I showed up, prompt service. Polite and genuine human being. Told me my oil change was due but didn't need to be right now but in a 1k miles or so. Friendly and didn't try to up-sale me. Highly recommend. If I lived in the area this would be my go-to place.Service: Auto maintenance

I had an unusual situation with my repair. Although appointment time wait was over a week, my vehicle needed serious computer analysis. Once diagnosed, it was repaired the day of the scheduled appointment. They did an excellent job and I after this issue, I will schedule for appointments in the future.
