We broke down close to a small town called Connell. I called the only tow truck driver who told us, There's no one here in Conell but I know a transmission guy in Richland. He called and American Transmissions prioritized our truck. We were back on the road the next day! Thanks guys!

Awesome experience during a stressful break down. Working out of town when my transmission went out. Spoke briefly over the phone was told we can get you going in three days. And just as promised I was back on the road. We need this kind of shop in So Cal. Great customer service very helpful and was able to answer all of my questions. Thanks again for your the great professional work.

I made an appointment to get my transmission worked on. American transmission did not work on it that day so I took the truck home. I made another appointment for one week later. American transmission did not work on it that day. I was told about 2:30 p.m. that a person would look at it and call me in an hours. No one called. I tried to make a third appointment for a day that American transmission would definitely work on it. I was told that the company can't make that type of appointment. I cannot trust a business that says it will work on a vehicle 3 times (two appointments and one phone call) and then does no work on the vehicle. The reason for the work was a problem that was under warranty. I cannot trust this company to do what it says it will do when it says it will do it.

Excellent service!! At first, I ignored my friends' advice and went to another shop for what I thought were transmission problems. My friend persuaded me to go to America first and get a second opinion, and I am so glad I did. John was truthful and helpful, and it turned out to be something minor and different!! I had a Transmission Service performed anyway because I was certain my truck had never had one. From now on, I will strongly recommend!!FYI. Second opinions can help you save money.

These guys have helped us out several times and I won't go anywhere else in the Tri-Cities or anywhere in Eastern Washington actually, for transmission work! They dealt with my warranty company, they advised me of the problem that was actually wrong, as opposed to the other company who guessed and then ordered the wrong part and wanted to charge me double for labor. These guys didn't charge me extra because I was using a warranty and they waited 2 months after diagnosing my car to get paid! They even changed a tire for me at no extra charge. They are kind and courteous and the real deal when it comes to customer service, which is rare anymore! Thank you John at American Transmission!

When our transmission went out in November we saw american transmission had great reviews. However, I am disappointed by the actual service we received. The gave us an estimate quickly but never gave further information or a timeline. They never provided promised updates on the car. We called weekly but they hadn't gotten to our car yet. After a month and no service provided we moved the car to another place who fixed it in a week. American had poor communication and didn't care about our time or business:(

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I took my truck in after another shop had just replaced my transmission and it crapped out after only 191 miles. They got it in and everything replaced in about 2 weeks. Also after they fixed the issue I brought it in for they noticed that the rear ujoints were bad and replaced them. I am super pleased with there work and can't say enough about the service.

I have a 1958 chevy truck I planned to put a turbo hydromatic 400 into. This transmission had been sitting in a shed for an unknown number of years. I put this transmission in only to find that it wouldn't shift out of first gear! The internals were completely rusted out and my mechanical abilities don't stretch to automatic transmissions. I dropped the transmission out of the truck and brought to it American Transmission and for a good price they rebuilt it. Now the truck shifts great and I couldn't be happier with their positive attitude and prompt service. I was recommended to American Transmission by multiple people. I now have a transmission that will work reliably.UPDATE October 11th:: It has been a lot of daily miles since I have gotten my transmission rebuilt. I am thrilled with this transmission and I know it will outlast my engine at the very least. It is shifting exactly the same as it should, and I get a feeling of consistency with it's shifts, which tells me that it should last a very long time. I cannot believe anyone could take such an old worn out transmission and make it completely reliable. I attempted to fix this transmission myself a couple times and failed. I am glad I was recommended to American Transmission

Thought I had some transmission issues, but the guys diagnosed motor/transmission mounts rather than transmission itself. Good group of guys and their customer service is excellent. They repaired my rig and we are both happy as jaybirds!Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

I really like this shop. They have very nice friendly people working there in the office and they know detailed information I ask about my transmission. This is the ONLY place I will take my vehicles to get fixed. The owner, Craig, and his mechanics are efficient, friendly, and honest. I appreciate that because there are so many crooked mechanic shops out there.

American Transmission is the most amazing shop I have ever dealt with. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful. I spoke with Randy the most and he was fantastic to work with and answered my questions clearly every time. Even though they are busy, they do fast, thorough, high-quality work and they follow up on it. I had to get my transmission overhauled and I had my car back much faster than I anticipated. We wanted to know what was wrong with the car. We thought it was the Torque Converter Solenoid but wanted confirmation. We explained the issue and that if you didn't follow certain steps the car wouldn't turn on and they called us two days later to say that the car wouldn't start and we needed to replace the transmission which would be about $4,000 so my husband went and drove it off the property. Feels like they didn't even check what it was and didn't listen but just tried to make money. I did not feel like they had their customers best interests at heart.Service: Transmission

John was very receptive to our concerns with our transmission and was quick to put a mechanic on it . The mechanic diagnosed the problem and gave me a true prognosis: the transmission wouldn't make it to Oregon. Thank you all for quickly finding the problem: blown main seal.

I was nervous about getting my truck done. It had many miles and never had a service done before. They assured me they would check it and make sure it was safe before they did anything. They were kind and had my truck done quickly!

I was having trouble finding a place that would work on my car because I thought the issue was the transmission, so I decided to give American Transmission a call. I explained the problem and told them I might need a shift solenoid changed, and got quoted around $900 to $1,000, so I got it scheduled and awaited for the worse. I had it scheduled for 11 a.m. today and the car was done by like 10:20 a.m., Randy explained that the wiring harness was bad so the wires were causing all sorts of issues, what a relief and so happy that there are trustworthy mechanics out there. Ended up just paying a little over $100 after tax, it really made my day, I highly recommend American Transmission!!Services: Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic

I have Been doing business with these guys for years, always been honest and never tried to upsell more repairs than I need.the other unlike the "big name" shop in town (you know who I'm talking about) I plan to continue taking my vehicles to American Transmission. Thanks.

Had them rebuild my TH350. During the rebuild I never got a single update during the whole process, it was only once it was finished did they tell me what they had to do to it. Had to take it back 2 separate times for leaks and it still leaks. The warranty was a one year warranty and now two years later it goes out on me completely while I'm cruising on the highway. Spent a touch over $1600 on the whole thing. Overall very dissatisfied with experience.

In July I dropped off my 98 Honda Civic with a horrible transmission leak. I received a call later that day acknowledging my dropping it off and asking me about the issues, noises, etc. The next day they explained what they had found wrong with the car and they provided me with an estimate. 2 days later they called and let me know that my car was fixed and I could pick it up. I picked up the car and haven't had an issue since! Fast service, professional and kind staff. I will take all of my vehicles there in the future!! Thanks guys!!

These guys fit us in fast & we're so nice. My son's trailblazers transmission broke something, so we ended up putting in a rebuilt one. No leaks, everything is back up and running again! Thanks!

I've been to several other transmission shops in the TriCities. American Transmission is the one I keep coming back to and always recommend to others. Fair, fast, trustworthy. What amazed me is Craig will recommend against unnecessary work. This shop is who I would send my wife to and not be concerned that she would be taken advantage of.My only complaint is getting them to answer the phone to schedule an appointment. GUYS! AT LEAST GET AN ANSWERING MACHINE!!
