I have an old truck with a relatively new crate engine which had developed a terrible performance problem. I tried two other shops before bringing it to Kohout's. The first two shops weren't able to completely fix the problem and in some cases even caused new problems. Then Ron Kohout worked on the problems and got the engine running like a Swiss watch! Thank you Ron for your insight and perseverance!!!

Best Automotive place I have worked with in the area, brought my vehicle in for an alignment, the technician was honest and told me it did not need one. They also gave me a list of other things I should probably look into repairing eventually, without trying to push me towards expensive repairs I did not need. I will definitely be doing more business with them in the future!

I would like to share with you my recent experience with Kohout's Automotive Services, Lacey Washington.I took my 2009 Pirus into Les Schwab for an oil change and brakes inspection.Kohout's said that my rear bakes shoes were saturated in brake fluid, brake cylinders we're starting to leak, and drums need replacing. Khout's quoted me $750 to repair my rear.I called Les Schwab, and they gave me a quote of $466. I scheduled an appointment with Les Schwab to repair my rear brakes. When I took it in, Shawn from Les Schwab called me after their brake inspection to inform me that my brakes were good and only needed a minor brake adjustment. Les Schwab made the adjustment at NO charge. If I had gone with Kohout's inspection. I would have given them $750 for parts & labor that wasn't necessary.I will not recommend Kohout's Automotive Services to my family and friends.

Kohout's has consistently been receptive to providing timely and satisfactory service for both company and private vehicles.Virginia, in particular, has always gone out if her way to ensure vehicles are scheduled, sometimes at last minute, for repair. Always satisfied with their service.

Second time here. The staff are nice and helpful. I would classify this business as more of a mom and pop than a professional service shop. At one time years ago it may have been a top shop but it hasn't seen an update, if any, in decades. The building and shop are run down and dirty and not very inviting. Egress from Husky Way could be improved. The waiting area is mostly a narrow entrance to the front desk with customers and techs walking past you all the time. The whole building layout and parking is awkward at best and does not provide good flow or customer comfort. There is a small TV on the wall and a 12 inch JVC tv/vcr combo sitting on a magazine table. For being an automotive shop there isn't a lot of auto magazines to choose from either but there are a lot of boat magazines if you are into multi-million dollar yachts.I had an appointment for an alignment that I was waiting for. They were 20 min late getting it pulled in. While I was waiting a customer came in expecting to pay 150 for some maintenance and was surprised by a bill over 600 that the shop didn't communicate to the owner. This is not a professional way to run a business. Their explanation was that service on this vehicle is expensive and that if you delay service it gets more expensive. This is throwing the cost back into the face of the customer implying it was their fault. Apparently they failed to set expectations prior to service and then failed to follow up after with proper customer service. Last time I was here for a tire rotation they couldn't figure out how to reset my TPMS and had to wait another 30 min while the tech read a manual on how to use the tool. Someone else eventually came out and did it.Random thought. Why is there a piano for sale in the waiting room? This shop could be great. It needs someone of a business minded nature to revamp the shop and provide training to the staff. Uniforms and some organization would improve customer confidence.Summary, if you want a basic shop without any other expectations of any kind then this might work for you.

Used Kohout's for the first time this month as a new resident to Lacey. It's hard moving to a new place and finding reliable, honest businesses to deal with. We had one questionable experience for an oil change (tried to sell us tires we didn't need) but hit the jackpot when we zeroed in on Kohout's. Fast service, knew what they were doing, pricing was good.100% recommend.Service: Wheel alignment

My car was stolen from their shop. They do not secure vehicles, or even check if your vehicle is still there. It took them 10 days to even notice my car had been stolen from their shop. If they would have noticed on day one and I could have reported it stolen thurstan county sheriff said I would have gotten my vehicle back. They have an unsecured lot, and do not take care of your vehicle. I was offered nothing more than a Sorry I had another vehicle there the week before because it was pulling to the right. I have them do a $230 alignment, when I left it was still pulling I had to take it to the dealer who said they were unsure what they did because some things were aligned but some were not not sure what they did. When I called and talked to them about this, they did quickly refund my alignment. Lets just say, I won t be going back here.

Well I dropped my van off to get an air conditioner fixed. It is a conversion van and he gave me paperwork after a couple hours that I needed $5000+ worth of work. New transmission, back wheel bearings, front wheel bearings, whole new air conditioning system, Catalytic converter, Need oxygen sensors. Funny thing transmission I asked how do you know he said codes and it was black. So our regular mechanic came back and looked at it and even showed me nothing was wrong with the transmission, nothing with the wheel bearings, oxygen sensors were fine and in the pipes, and the air conditioner just needs a blower. Wow next the guy will tell me I need blinker fluid too. Don't go here, they will rip you off. Just to look at it cost me $400. What a rip off.

Our truck started overheating yesterday morning (with plenty of coolant). They were able to squeeze us in and diagnose the water pump. They replaced it and the serpentine belt and now our driver is back on the road. The price was fair too. Our driver lives close by so I'm sure we'll be back!

Good service. Great price. Just wish the would've taken the stickers off of my brand new tire treads before they drove em on wet roads. Now they won't come off until the road wears them away

I love this place - everyone is so nice and polite - AND - more importantly - they do the job that you took your car to them to do! They do not try to sell you on additional work that you didn't even ask for. They do just what they have to do - no more - no less. A pleasant change - RELIEF - from dealerships!!!! And - they stick to the price that they quoted you!!! In other words - they are honest!!!!Service: Wheel alignment

I really did not want to give any even one star ,,first time they told 2 hours and 2 hours later told me next day and next day they told me take 5 ,6 days later and told me a week and then told me they still waiting a few item for fixing to order , and then when I call again they told me still waiting for items and 2 weeks later they answered same answer. About 3 weeks later they told me my car is still waiting for for fixing , now 3 weeks, after a few calls for begging for fix .. I could have finally . Their management need to improve seriously, when I call them for checking my car they did not answered the phone. The biggist wrong thing is even they got items but they did not fix it and avoid my phone on purpose . if you want to save your time just go where bought car service center .

I was sent to Kohout s by a young man at Discount Tires who checked the air in my tires. Apparently I was missing 2 lug nuts on one of my rear wheels. I arrived at Kohout s and they were able to fit me into their schedule. The lady at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. She let me know that the repair was a lot less involved than I anticipated. The bill was way less than I expected and I was back on the road. Yay! I so appreciate their service!!!

I have been a customer with Kohout's for at least 9 years with different vehicles including a Class A Motorhome. The great folks there have always been professional, very friendly and the work is outstanding. I can't say enough about the expert work these folks have performed. I would not take my vehicles anywhere else. I completely trust them and they stand behind their work. Thank you to all who work there, they are the best!Services: Transmission, Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, A/C installation & repair, Battery, Oil change

Kohout's is one of the last automotive repair shops that provides excellent customer service and delivers quality work in this area. I've been in this area for over twenty years and I've experienced the erosion of quality work and excellent customer service from the local competitors. Every time I've used them I'm never surprised with additional cost or bad news. The last business that does what they say period. Thanks to the entire staff & crew at Kohout's for your continued quality work & excellent customer service!

I have been using this shop for years. It's so nice to know that there is still a few honest auto repair places that are in the business for the right reason. They are great to work with always friendly and do not pressure to buy other things. They list on the invoice recommendations but never tell me I need anything that could wait. I have been going there long enough that they know my driving habits and how much longer I can wait to have something done. Many times they have done things for me and did not charge. Who does that? Kahout's that's who.

There usually overbooked make an appointment. Probably not the best shop for emergency situations unless you have a secondary vehicle. They make cars work but they are not thorough and they don't stress test the wiring. Had they spent more time understanding how it's working they would be a great shop. But they can misdiagnose a car and have you buying parts that worked fine because they don't diagnose the overall systems. They just make it work and you come back for each problem. If you want that kind of service because they are competent. But they are not masters. I would call them a good shop with great potential if they balanced their workload. I came in there with a classic vehicle. They got it running but after that their were so many failures across the various systems. Such as ignition switch couldn't come out I had a backyard mechanic take it out. The shop left the old ignition in the vehicle. I first thought it was odd they couldn't install an ignition cylinder. They diagnose the problem a bad carburetor they said that the fuel kept running into the carburetor what the actual problem and the solution why they're being since they diagnosed it I bought a new carburetor the problem was there was an intermittent fuel pump issue they diagnose the issue by saying when they went up the hill it was bothering me out but they never tried installing a fuel pump and see if that improved performance what it actually was was the whole fuel pump assembly because remember it's a classic vehicle. So I took it in the shop they charged me $1,000 so basically rewire it. They charged me another $1,000 to install the carburetor. I bought the carburetor at the parts store. After spending $2,000 on repairs the vehicle did run but there were issues still playing the car and such as the wire harness the distributor the fuel tank assembly and from my understanding when they got the truck running there was a leak in the rear main they never mentioned it they never told me what price I'd have to pay for that they somehow put the pressure plates back on broke the screws and there's that ticking noise cuz it wasn't all the way sealed. So like I said they're competent they're better than having your friend fix it but as far as the experience you know I do appreciate that they put my radio back together the office is very vanilla considering probably all the stressful calls they get it doesn't seem to get to him they're helpful. They're willing if they can't order the part for you to put the part in that's not what a lot of shops do these days. For a while they are my favorite mechanics I would have to say that 10 years ago when I came here they were quicker a lot more efficient and the five years since I came back they just seem in over their heads and their quality of work has dropped considerably. I respect for $2,000 they never installed the fuel pump they only installed a carburetor and they didn't even charge me for the part because I bought it third party for $2,000 I would have hoped they would have went through the wiring found out and all of that that the distributor was bad they didn't have to fix an engine they didn't have to fix an alternator didn't have to fix your radiator all they had to do is plug the lines up change out a carburetor and they charge me $2,000 so when the vehicle was delivered if I would have took it back to them they would have probably charged me another $1,000 and still have not solved the problem my solution was very unique and it would have taken a Master mechanic to do the workaround that my backyard mechanic did. Because no parts mechanic shop is going to order a distributor that is not stock for or aftermarket ford. We had to think outside the box and put in a distributor more GM like and get rid of the wires across the top of my engine.

Excellent auto repair shop and very professional staff & technicians. It is very difficult to find a auto repair shop that can be trusted but Kohouts is the only shot I trust with all my vehicles. Verginia is the manager and she runs a very professional operation.

Will never go there again, didn't have a choice since they have a contract with discount tire. Wheel speed sensor was messed up after having new tires put on. Was told the manufacturer does not make speed sensors for my car and told no one makes aftermarket sensors either. Drove 5 minutes down the road to Orilleys auto parts and picked one up. Waste of my time, at least I get reimbursed for my part from discount tire. Don't bother
