First time going to this shop and it was a great experience. He s a friendly mechanic and is transparent about prices. He is also straight up about when he can get the job done. He seems very knowledgeable and he also lets you bring your own parts. I will definitely be coming to this shop for any future issues with my Mazda.

I recently bought one of my vehicles here for some work. This is a wonderful shop! The owner is a great mechanic, honest, reasonable, and has good prices. I can't say enough good things about him. I moved out of the area but will be bringing my Toyotas back here for all future work.

This is a small shop run by Jay who specializes in Japanese cars. He is wonderful. I have been very impressed with his work. He really seems to know what he is doing and is very transparent with his price/what needs to be done. I had my car seen for an issue at another place before coming to him and he was able to do the job for half the price the other place quoted me. Still doing a quality job with the"upgrade" parts. My Subaru is in great hands. I just keep coming back.

Jay knows his stuff about Japanese automobiles. His prices haven't gone up a penny from 7 years ago when I started coming to him to get maintenance and repairs on my Acura RSX. It's hard to find a mechanic that I can trust and will let you bring your own parts. I get that feeling that my car is being well taken care of here. If I could give more stars, I would. Jay has kept my car alive well past its "best by" date. I drive a 2003 Acura RSX with 170k miles on it. Full synthetic oil change was 70 bucks compared to jiffy lube where they charge a lot more.

My grandmother bought a new Honda CRV in 2003. 20 years later it has less than 99,000 miles on it; (less than 5k/year). I recently inherited it from my grandmother.Last week the AC stopped working. I took it to a place near my home who charged me a moderate fee to look at it.The compressor was shot.I got 4 quotes. Three of the quotes were about $1,200.Jay at A1 did it parts and labor for under $700. The AC works GREAT, now.A week later, I took it to two places near my home to get the brakes examined. Both of the quotes were more than $1,300 because they wanted to replace calipers, turn or replace rotors, upcharge the pads, etc....Jay at A1 examined the brake assemblies and said it only needed pads. The discs/rotors were smooth and thick, the calipers worked....He did the front for $165 and the rear for $175.The brakes work great, now.If I ever have another issue with this car, Jay at A1 Japanese Auto Repair will be where I go.It's worth the drive from Tacoma, Lakewood, Parkland, Spanaway, or Puyallup, or maybe even Chehalis....Services: Engine repair, Brakes

Despite Jay being the only person there, he is very fast and efficient. You tell him exactly what you want done, and he'll get it done without any scammy scheme. Very honest person. He will not screw you over.

This was the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic. Jay was friendly, honest, and very affordable. He not only changed my timing belt for half the price that the Honda Service Center quoted, he also fixed several other issues along the way for only the cost of the parts, all within 24 hour's of me dropping my car off. Jay does great work, you won't be disappointed.

I'm putting this review for anyone that's wants to know why i went here. I took both of my cars for problems that I know that I couldn't fix it by myself. I trust him personally, because jay is the type of guy who works hard and dedicate his time to fix customers problems and resolve it in a timely manner. He owns this business and does his Job well to support his family, so I completely go to him for my Japanese car problems and issues . His prices are very affordable and he is an expert at his job.

When Eddie's Subaru changed hands I had a bad experience and remembered the trusty A-1 Japanese Auto Shop. I was selling my old 96 Legacy Wagon to a friend and needed a safety check before handing it off. Got the car up on the lift and walked around and saw what needed to be addressed and what could be put off as a convenience fix. Confident I got the right fixes completed at a fair price.

Brought my CRV in for a squealing throw out bearing on a Tuesday afternoon with out calling. I was back on the road Wednesday at 3pm. Great price for a full clutch replacement. This is the second clutch (different cars) he has done for me. Great work. !

This place was great. Jay got me in right away after calling around trying to find a shop that would do a quick inspection after my long trip. Jay was friendly and even asked questions about the car while doing the inspection. I would highly recommend him if you want quality service.

I've taken my used car to Jay for years. He came highly recommended from my user car salesman friend and I've never gone anywhere else. I tell all my friends about him when they need repairs. Jay is very honest and gets the job done quickly. Thanks as always Jay!

The most honest mechanic I have ever met. I've taken various vehicles to him and if he can't do the job, no charge. And when he fixes the problem, always a fair price! You cannot go wrong taking your car here! I recommend to everyone!

Yay is great, he is very kind and very willing to help you out with your vehicle, his work is very good, I have never had any issues with the work he has done for me, always done right the first time.Yay is very honest, he will let you know what he can and can't do, and if he is unable to do the work, he will try and recommend somewhere else he personally knows you can get the work done. He is the perfect tradesmen in my opinion.

It was time for a timing belt service on my Tacoma and I didn't have time to do it myself. I bought all of the required parts off of Ebay and brought them to Jay and worked out a good time for the job. Jay's price was on the money and he was able to complete the whole job fast and to the standard. I recommend him and will use his service in the future. Thanks Jay!

This place is great. They are extremely quick and do amazing work. They also are very well priced. They don't try to up charge and they don't try to sell you stuff you don't need. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. Definitely going to be coming here to get my car serviced from now on.

I took my lemon car to Jay at A-1 for servicing. When I was looking at a different used car in 2002, I brought it to him for inspection. He gave me a thumbs up. I still drive that car. After moving to Seattle, I would bring my car down for servicing. Jay's prices are so much better, and he is very honest. He will show you the old parts when you pick up you car. Now that I've moved out of state, I really miss the care and confidence I got from A-1 Japanese.I ABSOLUTELY recommend A-1 Japanese Auto Repair

Since I was 16 yrs old I have been taking my Toyota's, Hondas, and Subaru's to Jay at A-1. He is the man. Since the first Been taking my Toyota, Honda, and Subarus there since I was 16. The first time he quoted me a price to replace a head gasket on my 4-Runner. Upon picking up Jay said it took him less time than quoted so he billed me $80 less! Now that is honest folks! Great work. Quick in and out.

I've always been impressed with A1. I've taken my 2004 Toyota Avalon in for repair a few times and I'm always happy with the price and service quality. One thing that impresses me - when I come to pick up my car he has the parts replaced out to show me and he explains what he did... This ads to my trust factor - that the work being done is good and honest. I just recommended a friend to A! - so I will definitely recommend him again in the future. Note** my 2004 Avalon has 160k miles - he says it will go for 100k more... Sweet! We just bought a new Avalon so after warranties we will be taking it to A1 too.

THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING. HANDS DOWN!!For five years, I've driven a 1999 Toyota Camry, and nothing calms my spirit like a Japanese company working on my Japanese car. These guys are fast, honest, and LOT cheaper than Toyota dealerships or other mechanics.I've moved past my 99 Camry and on to a 2017 Camry, so you know who'll have my business in the future. A1 is fast, and TOP QUALITY WORK.

Wow! What a joke. I took my Toyota MR2 here for some diagnostic work. The car was running rough and overheating. He had the car for an hour and a half and then called us to tell us to come pick up the car and he had no idea what was wrong with it. That. Is. His. One. Job! I took my JAPANESE car to a JAPANESE auto mechanic who is JAPANESE and he was clueless? Don't waste time going to this shop. Apparently he cant do anything more complicated than an oil change.
