Lightening Pine RV park is under new management and don t let the rustic signs discourage you from visiting this small park on the Methow River. I stayed here the first year John took over the ownership of the park and he has been working to make this a special spot on the river. There are 10 RV sites with full hook ups, tent space and private river access for fishing and swimming. The park is quiet and is located between Pateros and Twisp. The shower house/bathroom is rustic and the owner is working on improvements.Dogs allowed on a leash, kid friendly, lots of lush yard for playing.Good Verizon cell signal, no park Wi-Fi, close to grocery stores in Brewster, Pateros, and Twisp. The owner lives on site and is committed to making your stay the best he can provide.

Made reservations to stay here for Memorial weekend. Arranged plans with a dozen friends, had everything setup. The night before my reservation, at 11:30pm, this Randy guy calls me up acting crazy, and said he was cancelling my reservation. I still have no idea why he cancelled our reservation, although he kept complaining that he knew what type of people we are and that we would be partying and stuff. My group is a bunch of middle-aged professionals looking for a quiet time, so that was completely bizarre. So, thanks Randy, for being a complete jerk and ruining Memorial weekend for a dozen people by waiting until literally the very last second to cancel our plans. This person is completely untrustworthy, is not good to his word, and is crazy. He actually insulted me on the phone, and was yelling at me. At 11:30pm. The night before my reservations. What a truly awful experience and a terrible person.

Not a bad place. Maybe not as good as some expect, but I did not experience anything like what people have described, sure, the camp host starts tipping the elbow pretty early in the day, and he is concerned about conserving water and electricity. But he has always been nice to me and those I have stayed here with.Maybe it's just because someone in our party bought him a six pack... It doesn't help with his drinking problem, but it sure did make him pleasant to deal with.Other than the camp host, it's a great place to camp near chelan or Winthrop with your family. It has a nice little beach, a volleyball net, and horseshoe pits if I remember correctly.

Owner needs substance use counselling! Seriously. The good first- right on the river, lots of grass, some shade, fire pits, picnic tables you can move around to set your area as you like. Horseshoe pits, volleyball net set up.Potable water, pay showers that can wash you from the nipples down (and I'm not tall)The bad- that would be the drunk owner who can't remember who he talks to, what he says, or your cell phone number you have emailed him and your family back home has given him each of the 4 times he calls in the past 1hr too drunk to follow the conversation (my 15yr daughter finally stopped answering the phone due to his ranting)The Ugly- having the owner Randy - come into your campsite in the morning still drunk and ranting that you got in to late....even with having reservations.Telling you how state campgrounds don't let you in after dark and how you should know how much traffic would be slowing your arrival to his campground and should have planned accordingly even if it meant taking kids out of school early! He likes to rant about how full he could be and doesn't need your business...yet we noticed he was maybe 60% full on Memorial day weekend. We watch him chase off other's who came to camp without a "reservation" yet he had lots of spaces. He like to rant about what the hours are at other parks and that's the model he follows yet he verbally chastised a family who came "To early" (7am) to see if they could camp!! It was astounding to say the least. This guy has no idea how to run a business, I'm guessing most of his guest that repeat are either similarly inebriated, related, or don't know their are other options. We heard he was a "good guy" we think we saw a glimpse of that when he was sober....that was not often enough. Randy can rest better knowing we won't be back while he owns or runs the place. I guess it was his family property so doubt any change will occur.

We love this place, been coming here for years and looking forward for more years to come. Randy always been friendly and nice. Remembers me every year I call and always sets us up with a great spot. You don't have to worry about paved roads, cars and strictly designated spots with $100K+ RVs. It's a quite and peaceful place to relax. Just got to know how to relax!

This is a nice and cozy RV and tent park that is right on the river. The grass area is nice and the river flowing by at night soothing. The bathrooms are a bit "dated" but adequate. Randy is a nice guy who is totally willing to help. Overall a really good experience. I would come back.

Never ever going back to this campsite again!! My family and I (anywhere between 20-25 of us including kids) go to Chelan every year just to get away from the city. Usually we camp closer to Lake Chelan but this year we totally thought for some dumb reason that we didn't need to reserve camp sites ahead of time, so the campsite we usually camp at was booked and so we're all the other ones within 30 minutes of Lake Chelan. After searching we came across lightening pine rv park. We called and talked to Randy who seemed nice but asked we check in before 6pm, we agreed and made it there a bit after 5. The place is nice, kid friendly, had convenient beach areas for the kids which was awesome. Upon arrival Randy greeted us with a beer in his hand (didn't think anything of it) then he kind of gave us the run down, where the restroom/shower was, asked that we didn't pick his apples and peaches (we respected his wishes)... He then went on to say that he doesn't keep paper towels in the restrooms because it's expensive and that we can just shake the water off... (Odd but whatever)... He constantly reminded us to make sure we turn the lights & water off (constantly) and we said sure no worries we can do that. Then he would pretty much harass us every time we used the restroom or shower... Waiting outside, yelling at the kids for using the hose/outdoor faucet to wash sand off their feet.. The next morning we woke up had breakfast packed up and were at the lake from 11am & returned about 6pm... (We were gone for most of the day) when we got back we had dinner and most of us showered, used the restroom because it's included in the amenities.. $.75 for five minutes to shower. He pretty much flipped out on us for showering, "wasting his water & electricity" told us that we can use the honey buckets, wash our hands and things in the river if needed and that "we were always in the bathroom..." Are we not paying customers? We were respectful, did as he asked, cleaned up after ourselves. If you don't want people using the toilets and showers then don't offer those amenities! Literally harassed every time any of us went to the restroom, even the kids. Worst experience ever, never would I recommend any family or friends or even strangers to go camp here!!

First off host Randy is constantly drunk, followed teens to and from bathroom, accused them of stealing electricity, came into camp moved chairs around, yelled at friend for opening door with AC on, apparently should crawl out window. Came into back of camp through bushes instead of walking in front and when asked to not sneak in like this out his finger in face and belligerently told me how he could do what he wants even though we rented space. Don't camp here police know him well when he called them to evict us for "stealing electricity and girls using bathroom." Officer stated he has been here several times because of owner Randy, being drunk and confronting customers. Has a mound of gravel outside womens bathroom window and curtain hangs giving a perfect view into shower, and was there to need kids each time they were leaving shower. Gave creep vibe to all 6 teens there. Beautiful place ran by a complete alcaholic who isnice one minute then accusatory the next. Not stable stay away.

Terrible service from randy, he walks around half drunk all the time, stayed here while I was in the area working and he came over and yelled at my girlfriend one day while I was gone at work. After that he came up to me one evening screaming at me while my 2 year old daughter was in my arms. He was screaming about my dog, because she wasn't on a leash. The dog was literally sitting in front of the trailer, a 4 month old black lab puppy. Needless to say, I took my family and money elsewhere. DONT stay here! There is a way nicer place about 25 minutes up the road, called big twin lakes campground.

have a great time every time i go there. yes Randy is a bit of a worry wart about acheduling but he is laid back as long as youre not a total douche. we party it up there partially because it isnt one of those super fancy pretentious places with Nazi-esque attention to quiet hours.

Very welcoming. The owner Randy is super nice, it's really pretty down by the river and there is a shuttle service either there or somewhere nearby if you want to go rafting

Hmm... where to start. The person working there wanted us to use the port-a-potty instead of the working bathroom, asked our female campers if they were "eating the toilet paper" and generally seems angry in the morning and drunk in the afternoon.
