The transmission on my pickup made sounds like a bicycle in a blender. General Transmission picked it up, checked it out, tore down the transmission, replaced the rear planetary gears, overhauled the clutches, bands, and torque converter, put it all back together. Good as new! They put in long days to make sure I had my truck for the weekend. They took the time to show me exactly where the damage was and sent me home with the souvenirs for a lamp project maybe. They were kind and truthful every step of the way. I might have saved a few bucks at one of those chain shops but I have the confidence of knowing I have the original equipment and a job done right.

It was so nice to do business with a local shop where you deal with the owners. Mark was up front about everything and is very knowledgeable. He knows if you need a new transmission or just a repair.Cindy in the office was extremely helpful efficient and kind. If I ever need work done on my vehicles, Mark and Cindy get my business every time. 5 stars for General Transmission!

Mark and Garrett are an amazing team in the shop, I chose general transmission as my mechanic shop several years ago solely based on reviews and I m glad I did. Solid, loyal and honest people with amazing talents. They gave my Ford Explorer a second chance.

Initially a different transmission shop diagnosed the problem for me but couldn't complete the repair right away. That's when I found General Transmission and Mark. What I appreciated about him was that he listened and wasn't condescending like many auto shops are when you tell them what you believe the problem is. They didn't upsell and got my repair done fast. Most significantly, the price came in under what he quoted where other shops would find a way to run the bill up to the quoted cost. If you need transmission work done, trust General Transmission.

Mark at General Transmission was great because he was able to fix our transmission and didn't have to replace it. There is a very large price difference when they are able to fix a problem and not have to replace the entire thing. Sort of like when you can fix a hole in your roof and not replace the entire thing. I'm not saying that every transmission can be fixed or repaired. What I am saying is that Mark at General Transmission will make the effort to find the best solution that will cost you the least amount of money out of your pocket. Lazy, dishonest, and condescending. The wife is wonderful and friendly. The husband, Mark, was happy to take my money, but apparently didn t feel like working that day. Or just didn t want to bother with my vehicle since I was only scheduled to be in town for a couple of days. He charged me $200 to take my car for a 10-minute drive, came back and basically told me it was all in my head and my car was fine. It wasn t. My transmission was overheating. I m lucky I managed to get it into a town before it broke down completely. Turns out it needs a new thermostat. If I were still in Seattle, I d be back there demanding my money back. Since I m not, I ll be sure to file a complaint with the BBB and write reviews on every platform available so he can t do the same to anyone else.Imagine being stranded in the mountains with a 16-year-old daughter and no cell service. Not even SOS service. Wonder if he d be as willing to do that to his own family?Service: Transmission repair

General transmission has fixed 2 transmissions on my work's trucks. They had almost no wait time to get the trucks in when most other shops are backed up months. They communicated exactly what the issues were with the trucks and explained what they needed to fix. Would gladly recommend General again and again.

This is the place to go when you don't want to have to replace your entire transmission they will actually fix the problem that you're having with your transmission I totally recommend this place. When you want the best in a car, you buy a Mercedes or BMW. When you want the best in transmissions, you go to General Transmission. They did an exceptional rebuild on my 2006 Dodge Charger this past week. I highly recommend them.Service: Transmission

basically got scammed for about 4k and i was forced to take my car back non running because of light rail construction , never even got receipts from owner and his wife after my car being there for months.

Courteous, Professional, Honest;**If you think hiring a professional is expensive, see what happens when you hire an amateur first**My van had transmission problems for two years. I did everything I could to treat it gently, but a week before Christmas my van broke. It would only drive in reverse.Not having enough money to pay to get the job done twice, I carefully selected General Transmission because of their documented history doing more than they were required to do and that they have stood behind their work even when they have the option not to. One reviewer was outside of the warranty period and Mark repaired at no charge anyway (check out the posting from Elizabeth on 02/08/2021). They did everything they said they would do (follow-up, stayed within the estimate) They did more than they had to do (applied a coupon that was on the website without me bringing it up When they heard I was making childcare arrangements to get the van they brought it to my house. They got my van repaired (and delivered to me) within a week.Transmission work, unfortunately, is difficult. Mark is conscious of the financial impact and he and Cindy have worked out the best pricing they can to be fair to everyone. That includes the flat labor fee, the markup on parts and leaving it up each customer if they want to pay an extra 3% to use their credit card.I appreciate what they did for me, and am confident the job was done well. If in the future I find there was a problem I ll make sure to update this review.Service: Transmission

After seeing their website, I got the feeling Mark and Cindy really meant customer service. I have a 93 Van that was not shifting after a rebuild from another local shop. Mark and his team diagnosed and repaired what turned out to be an electrical problem seemingly (and totally) unrelated to actual transmission function.Mark s determination, knowledge, professionalism, and true grit came through with great results and Van drives great. Locally owned business. Great owners. There was sense of caring and professionalism, an effort to understand my wants and needs, quality work that exceeded expectations. Seriously, bonus points because Mark took an interest in my project, makes suggestions and goes the extra mile to make sure the job is done the right way. I only wish they did more than transmission work. I really feel like I'm in good hands with Mark and Cindy. You pay for this level of quality work but only once since whatever it is gets fixed the right way and things turn out just how they told you it would before they started the work. I called Wednesday to schedule an appointment for my trans and rear diff to be flushed(300). They dont schedule appointments but bring it in monday morning at 9am we will work it into the rotation should have it done by 530. I explain its my personal/work truck and i have work scheduled all week, they say they wont tear it apart unless they know they can have it done for sure. Great. I get there at 950am (my bad, but its not like i had an appointment) power steering is probably going can you do that to (sure we'll figure it out if we have time) and its shifting hard maybe have a estimate for what it will cost to fix all the way, again if theres time. I get a call at 3pm, we didnt get to it, were not gonna get to it this is your courtesy call. No attempt to reschedule or we'll try to get it done tomorrow, just kinda come get it. I got there they were courteous and sorta apologetic. Im out 350 for work lossed tomorrow because i have to cancel my appointment bite the bullet and go to aamco(420 for trans=120xtra). They did what they said they would and i give them that. But a transmission shop that cant flush a tranny in a day with 4 days notice? Then he says "whats wrong with it that you cant just drive it to work tomorrow?" That was my experience there.

Mark rebuilt the transmission in my 1989 Ford F-350. He was upfront with the costs, the work was completed on schedule, and he was pleasant to work with. I knew this would be an expensive rebuild, but I was happy with the price, and I honestly couldn't have done it myself for less. Mark and his staff are legit transmission rebuilders. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs help with a diagnosis or any kind of work for your vehicle they are trust worthy and a family business so let's all support them and their hard work on keeping us all safe on the road My truck has been serviced here 2x for transmission repair . 1. Time was because dealership sold me this truck with a bad transmission and refused to fix it but Mark and Cindy were amazing and quick to find out what exactly was wrong and repaired it.2. Almost a year later and found out something was burning in my transmission possibly my torque converter due to my ex husband and the way he drove not sure. But Mark Cindy and Sugarbear were awesome at fixing it and giving me a excellent warranty for the repair. I had to take an extra few days to come up with the extra money for the rest of payment Cindy was very polite and professional and understanding of the time it took to pay the rest off.Service: Transmission

Took my Eurovan to this shop after whining noise started coming from my transmission, after they removed the transmisson and did the repairs to it on my drive home it was making even worse clunking noises.I called and complained and their answer was that there's a lot of moving parts in transmission that can be bad.They took the car back and came up with a wheel bearings problem, so they replaced both of them and that didn't solve the problem.3,000 miles after, my transmission blew up.Paid $3,500 for transmission repair and $1,000 for new wheel bearings.Maybe all the invoices that I have would refresh your memory.Service: Transmission repair

What an AMAZING shop! Talk about reliable and honest! I'm always skeptical, like most people are when it comes to auto shops because you never know what you will be billed or get ripped off! That is NOT the case here with General Transmission. Mark was transparent the whole way through with cost of labor and parts. He tells you everything and is pretty honest about what it takes.The job was done well and it was done in less time than I had expected. Mark is very reliable and trustworthy. My car runs better now than before I took it into his shop. I know for a fact, Mark will be my auto mechanic. And by the way, he does more than just transmission.This is a GREAT company!!!

I have had the most pleasant experience one could have regarding auto repair. I brought my car in for what I believed to be a major transmission repair costing several thousand dollars. After leaving my car with Mark the proprietor to perform an inspection. I received the good news that what was needed is minor repair thus saving me a great deal of money. I cannot rate Mark and Cindy high enough. They are a 5+. I will recommend them to anyone who may need auto repair.

We took our 2001 Volvo Cross Country to Mark for evaluation. He explained what had to be done and that is was not going to be cheap. He assured me that when they got it done it would be like new. We let him have it. They took it apart and explained what they were doing all the way. Everyone it the place was nice and glad to explain what they were doing. Did you ever see a Volvo transmission on the bench?!! Amazing! We also had an ABS brake light on and Mark figured that out. It was a small motor I picked up used for $100 instead of the $1600 quoted from Volvo. While the car was apart, Mark told me to replace some steering parts, which I bought online and took to them. It drives like new. They did a great job and kept me informed every step of the way. It was not cheap but I feel I got value for what I spent. At least I'm not making car payments.

I stopped in not knowing what the problem was with my 2001 BMW X5 -- I just knew it sounded bad and everyone had been telling me "time for a new car" knowing the expense would be huge. My family loves that car though so I stopped in to see Mark.Mark was so helpful from his diagnostic where he quickly identified that it was not the transmission but rather the ignition Coils & Spark Plugs which he fixed super affordably. He kept me in the loop from start to finish and even called me as a follow-up to make sure I was pleased with the work that was done. Very high integrity, professional and personal. It felt like a friend looking after my best interest. My BMW drives practically like new again and I couldn't be more pleased! Thanks Mark and your team for a job well done. It was a great all around experience!

Mark and Cindy at General Transmission are wonderful. In October of 2016 I took my Volvo S60R to have the transmission fixed. Mark fixed my transmission and even dealt with the aftermarket warranty company which was a nightmare to work with. Mark was honest and kept me informed the whole time. In June of 2017 an issue arose and Mark did not hesitate to take the car back and honor the warranty. My car now drives better than ever. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.

General transmission is the place in King County to have your vehicle worked on. The owner Mark is an honest hard-working man who will shoot straight with you. He does great work and keeps his word.

Scheduled an appointment in a timely manner, very upfront and straightforward. Bought a new car with a lot of miles on it and had them test drive it to see how the transmission felt and if they believed any work would need to be done. Dropped the car off at 9AM and had it back by noon, told me she was running strong and the test drive was free of charge. I look forward to bringing my cars here for future maintenance.

I went to gen trans A few months back and my experience was the best one at a shop i have ever had .i was sent there on the word of a friend and boy was he right . i was told mark is the best in the buisness . well mark delivered unbelievable professional timely,honest and didnt ding me hard . as a matter of fact he saved me alot of money .i couldnt be more happy with the way things went. if i ever have a problem i cant fix i know were im going general transmission . thank you mark and crewService: Transmission
