Rob has helpled me on two occations. Once advising me not to repair a transmission on my 2002 Trailblazer because of cost vs. vehicle value. A second time rebuilding my 2009 4Runner transmission and replacing the transfer actuator, transefer, transmission, and diff fluids, rear engine and diff seals when he had the transmission out. He is a clear communicator that provided us with practical cost options every step of the way. He isn't out to just get business. His shop is very busy and he fit us in to a tight schedule. He and his shop are knowledgeable and do great work. Too bad he doesn't fix enginess too. ;-)

There is a reason why Rob's has 4.8 stars, they are that good. He is booked out a month if that gives you any idea of how many people are trying to get an appointment with him. Rob took the time and answered all my questions and we discussed options. I would rate him as an expert in his knowledge of transmissions. He was open, patient and friendly. At no point did I feel he was up-selling me, he just gave me the honest situation. My problem was fixed and I am a very happy customer.

Had my transmission rebuilt here. It's the one thing I have never fully been able to do on my own, an automatic transmission rebuild. Rob is the Owner and this is a fantastic place to get your vehicle serviced. Rob took the time to explain his proccess, he also assembled some updates and fixes, to the transmissions known problems. So his expertise is not just rebuilding, but through much research on his own he takes the proccess to a higher level, and makes your trany even better for the experiance. It's been three years now but I still think back to his expert opinion and highly regard his knowledge and know how. I will leave it at that. Rob knows how to fix transmissions. I believe slightly better than any other shop out there. This shop is a good one!Service: Transmission

After reading the reviews I thought Rob's transmission was going to be fair and honest, saving money on an important job. Unfortunately I paid more than 4X the market rate for parts and fluids. Take a look:A transmission pan for this specific car is $80 on Amazon: Rob charged me $348. The intake boot? Less than $20 on Amazon but $154.75 at Rob's. A $5 gasket cost me $90. How would you like to pay $196 for $25 worth of transmission fluid or $84 for 6 quarts of engine oil? (and no, these figures don't include labor). Finally, a new battery was $225, perhaps the only reasonable charge in the deal (although $225 for a battery is still top of the marketplace)Anyway, I was charged $1,785.48 for a job that should have, even with normal mark-up on parts, been less than $1k. Am I wrong to feel a bit "disenchanted", despite Rob's talent and kind heart? I hope not. I mean, there's what's fair, and then there's what's fair, right?Service: Transmission

Rob was very helpful in explaining what was the issue with my manual transmission and how I could mitigate it. He was booked solid for service appointments but recommended a local mechanic who d be able to help

What a wonderful business! I went in thinking I was going to spend $2500 to $3000, but ended up spending less than $500. So happy I switched from another business to Rob's. If I had gone to that other eastside business, I think they would have told me I needed a whole new transmission and clutch. Rob is great and my car runs like new. Thanks, Rob!

where to start? i brought my truck into rob thinking my transmission on my old cummins truck was toast. he did a pretty quick diagnosis and determined the transmission was fine, i just blew a cooler and cooler lines. the truck also needed a full rear end rebuild. he added a posi, rebuilt the rear diff, new wheel bearings, the works.i have a 30 year old truck and most shops wont touch it, rob did an incredible job only using premium parts. the best part was that he made me fully aware of what was going on the entire time instead of just diving into everything that was wrong and racking me up a huge bill without my permission.i usually work on my own stuff and dread bringing things to a mechanic, but with work/travel/lack of time some things just need to be handled by the pros. rob walked me through everything he was doing and even let me back into the shop to check things out and see the progress.i'm more than happy to pay a premium for services like his shop provides. as long as i'm in the seattle area, this is where i will bring my truck. the front end will need some attention soon. who am i gonna call? rob!

Rob is an amazing person and this shop is awesome. He not only totally repaired the transmission on my bug, but when I called about a shifting problem he immediately fit me in to take a peek at it, and then when I offered to pay, he told me it wasn't necessary. He is an honest business man and I will always bring my vehicles here and recommend his shop to family and friends. Thanks for all your hard work, Rob, you're appreciated.

Didn't get my transmission fixed by choice because of the cost. The cost wasn't inflated, it just didn't make sense to spend that amount on that particular vehicle. I expected the cost to be high but mainly wanted to confirm my suspicions regarding the transmission. Rob is a good dude, knowledgeable, helpful and honest. If my new car needed transmission work done, this is where I would take it.

I was referred to Rob's Transmission by my usual mechanic and it was a good referral. Rob's is a small shop with great service.They had to diagnose an issue with my transmission and it turned out to be something that would be fixed with a regular maintenance so I was simply charged for the maintenance service. That's it.So I'll be going back when it's time to do so and I recommend others check this place out also

I had my older model f-250 diesel transmission serviced here. Rob found some other suspension and axle defects that needed attention. Made repairs on a second visit. Very satisfied with his quality service.

Rob is excellent. Has done all my transmission work in all my vehicles for the past several years. From service to rebuilds. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and does top quality work. Don't go anywhere else but to Rob's Transmission.

WARNING!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!!This place is not credible, I strongly suggest you use any other shop if you don't want to get ripped off.I took my F150 in to have a solenoid changed, I was quoted $300 from Rob.3 weeks latter Rob calls me and said that he completely took apart my transmission and some part of the motor??? And that it would cost me $7,000 to have it put back together.I told him I don't want to do that because it's not what I brought the vehicle in for and his reply back to me was " I will put all your parts in boxes and you can have a tow truck come get the vehicle "I asked him to put it back together like it was when I drove it in to his shop and he refused, the only 2 option he made avaliable to me was to pay the $7,000 or have my vehicle returned in boxes.I know this sounds unbelievable but it is totally true, and now I'm left with no other option but to take this to court.This is not a post to slam the shop it is a post to warn other potential victims of this shop.Service: Transmission

Rob again, saved the day for me. Without an appointment, he took in my friends Toyota 21' RV after she put in the drain plug incorrectly when draining her fluid on a scheduled maintenance. Rob suggested the least expensive course of action to try first and I couldn't have been more pleased. When others would have balked, shrugged, it's not my problem, Rob stepped up again. I started in Automotive Service in 1982, but my specialty is Emission and Tune-up diagnostics and repairs, not Transmissions. Thank goodness the Eastside of Seattle has someone as capable, professional and knowledgeable as Rob. I'd recommend Rob's Transmissions for large and small projects. You'll get the kind of Service you'd expect. Thank you again, Rob.

A transmition shop is not somewhere you want to visit, but I can say that everything about going to Rob was good. He was honest and told me everything he did to the car in detail. I hope I don't have transmition problems again, but if I do I'll definitely go here. I only wish he worked on the rest of the car!

Rob's transmission experience is second to none. I described my problem over the phone - Rob determined it was not a transmission problem and was an engine problem. He was right! Turns out the fuel strainer was plugged up causing low power. Saved me time and money by just one phone call.

Amazing!!!! I brought my Cr-V in for a pressure 3rd gear Pressure switch and he was able to get me in and out. I just moved to the area and will be going here for all my automotive needs. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!
