The Safeway in Grand Coulee is a grocery paradox: convenient selection crammed into a compact space. While it boasts all the essential ingredients for your next meal, navigating those narrow aisles is like playing grocery store Tetris. Be prepared for strategic cart turns and the occasional "excuse me!" waltz with fellow shoppers. The selection is surprisingly robust for its size. From fresh produce to pantry staples, it covers the bases for daily needs. The staff wasn t the friendliest. The courtesy clerk who bagged our groceries didn t look up or say anything after I politely thanked him. However, the cramped quarters can be a bit of a squeeze. Navigating with a cart requires precision and patience, especially during peak hours. The unpredictable checkout lines add another layer of challenge, sometimes transforming from breezy to serpentine in the blink of an eye.So, the verdict? Three stars for Safeway in Grand Coulee. It's a valiant effort, packing convenience into a tiny footprint. But be prepared for a slightly claustrophobic shopping experience, especially if you're short on time or space. If open aisles and friendly chit-chat are your priorities, you might want to explore other options (which would be difficult considering it s the only grocery store in town.)However, if you're willing to navigate the squeeze and accept the occasional line dance, you'll likely find all the essentials at this pint-sized grocery giant. Just pack your patience, your best cart-fu skills, and maybe a measuring tape for those tight turns.

The only large grocery store in a isolated area of Central WA. Does well to keep stocked, and is better that the smaller grocery store on the Colville Reservation. No self checks, but most registers are open on a consistent basis. I know the staff get bad reviews, but they are always good to me when I visit. My only complaint is the drug store section is scant, and this can be an issue because Grand Coulee has no drug stores. So stock up in Spokane or Ephrata on those items before heading to GC.

Safeway serves as the primary option for grocery shopping in the area, providing convenience due to its status as the only large grocery store around. While it fulfills the essential need for a variety of products, I found the quality of produce to be below expectations. The subpar produce selection can be disappointing for those seeking fresh and high-quality fruits and vegetables. Despite this, Safeway's role as a convenient shopping destination still holds value, especially for those who rely on its accessibility for their grocery needs. A three-star rating reflects the mixed experience of both convenience and shortcomings in the produce department.

The pharmacy staff are awesome. I get tired of dodging the restocking carts in the aisles. It doesnt matter what time or day, its always a mess. The staff at this store are so awesome and helpful. They seem to enjoy working there.

The pharmacy is the only saving grace of this store. The meat prices are high. They never have enough cashiers between 3-5:30 pm. Have walked out many times because of it. I have seen 3 people deep and them close a register. Who does that? Safeway in Grand Coulee They do have a large selection to choose from.

Stop packing car with all the food only big store in town close by and price is genuine . Has deli. Sell most of items you typically find in any Safeway. Ice and fire wood also available.

I have a consistent problem with this store: Some workers are there to get payed. Not even do the job of ensuring customers get what they came for. I've had 1 or 2 workers at his location I avoid because I've asked them if they have a food item and the person responded "we might. Try this general area" and the store isn't small. Some people are awesome and amazingly helpful, even when they're extremely busy, because I've walked past them more than 2 times looking at shelves, grabbing but not purchasing.

:) It's a Safeway. Doesn't have a bakery but that's cool. Deli foods available. Overall I enjoy shopping there for groceries. Produce selection is always decent. Meat section always has good proteins to choose from.

I bought a samosa at their kitchen (they were on display, along with the pizza sticks, burritos, et cetera). I had thought it was warm, but it was almost frozen. Came back asking for a way to warm it up, no go. No given option. Now I have a frozen samosa and a bad opinion of this place.

It is clean and friendly, and if you had a hernia operation and can not lift over 8 pounds, they are super helpful, and they have fried chicken Monday sale.

This store doesn't even deserve a one star. First of all you should never get an attitude with a customer. Who is out of town. Just asking a question. That to me is very poor customer service. I been in customer service for over 30 years.

I am a regular at the Ephrata Safeway, & usually go thru the self checkout. One night in peticular, there was a woman working self checkout, I had never seen or met, but she was one of the nicest, most awesomest chick's ever. The guy that usually works nightshade self checkout is miserable, so going from miserable everytime I'm in safeway to a bubbly, happy, super nice chick was just awesome. I wish I could remember her name.

Very dirty and trashy outside the building! Wasn't sure I should even get out of my car and trust it to be safe in the parking lot. Prices were way higher than at my local Safeway. Employees were not very attentive and or helpful. Not at all my best Safeway experience by any means!!

Groceries always fresh, good meat section, deli is good but they are almost always out of specialty meats/cheeses due to small storage area. Add incident where 2 people said 10 minute delay to cutting as machine was dirty, needed cleaned before switching meat types. It had been that way for over 15 minutes. They need a new store! That one is cramped and on two levels! Also they are slow to get to service counter due to short staffing.

Love this Safeway staff friendly and helpful and the store is very clean. This Safeway is smaller than most. Small bakery, but have the pharmacy, floral, and deli dept. Located on highway, so if your just passing through town this is a quick stop.

Store seems to have a rapid turn over in staff. It affects the attitudes of the workers. Sad, as it is our largest, best stocked local grocery store.Note: fresh foods quality has improved since Covid hit. Thank you!

One of the workers, Andrea, is one of the kindest people I ve ever met! She was eager to help me and did everything with a smile on her face and you could tell she works hard. Made our shopping experience wonderful.

Usually have friendly and courteous cashiers but today the young man was more interested in getting on his phone then acknowledging customer's, didn't ask if wanted bags or if found everything

Lots available at decent prices. Perfect stop to load up for camping or a road trip. Decent amount of parking for a smaller store. Friendly staff and clean organized shop.

The most understaffed Safeway and highest turnover in any Safeway store I've ever been in. If it wasn't for them being in a small community, this store would be out of business. I like the workers, it's just reality.

Safeway has always been a place I dont mind going to. The people are so friendly and they're always ready to help. Good folks in a small town.

It's absurd that a company as rich as Safeway allows for their stores in rural areas to become this rundown. I only came here in an emergency, what a joke. They're sucking the wealth out of rural areas and not giving back at all. Thanks for nothing! Shop local down at Harvest Foods!

The young man who waited on us in the deli was extremely rude and as I was telling him what we wanted on our sandwiches looked at me and said "Who's working here, you or me"? He literally told us there isn't any good customer service in this town.... they don't have to be nice or good at what they do--because they are the only game in town. Wow...this is how you treat visitors?

It's a good Safeway bigger then the one in Davenport, the prices are decent, not the best, we usually shop here when we can't go to Walmart in Spokane. My only complaint is the system will sometimes not get you the deals that are advertised and I will often times have to come back and point out mistakes and get partial refunds to get my deals, Abit of a pain but they are usually good with it, more recently the system seems to be working better though.

Actually, a 3.5. Not quite as low as a 3, but because of the checkout (or lack of enough) situation, not quite a 4 either.Mostly, though, their stars are because I will shop Safeway, any day before I have to fight WalMart crowds and zig zag shopping layout. One has to wonder why this one (Omak store) such a modern and up-to-date store (especially compared to so many older Safeway stores) still doesn't have the convenience of self checkout. Especially since their speedy checkout line allows people with up to 20 items go through, making the desired "speedy" for people that are, "only buying only a couple of quick items," not so speedy indeed.

Rude cashier named Brittany Jett, talked to Manager today, she said issue will be addressed. I think Safeway forgets sometime that there is another store to shop at in our area!! Hope the customer service gets better, harvest foods an Sandy's both options for my family

Ok, as far as Safeways go, this one is low on the list. There where few gluten free and vegan options that weren't past their sell by date (or close to it). Prices where reasonable for someone like me who is from a different area, otherwise a local might consider them high. They have no bakery department, the rotisserie chicken looked shipped in (they might be done on sight and have been sitting there that long) and the store is split into two halves making it very confusing to find things. Overall you can tell this is the only grocery store for miles. If there ever was a second on they would have to step up their game, as it stands you can get the basics here.

Usually we love to go to this Safeway because it is much larger than Davenports but our checker Judy was absolutely the worst I have encountered! Not only was she short with us but she was rude to our kids as well....at first she started out ok until she realized we had 2 WIC checks....wow is all I can say. I never write bad reviews but seriously she is not good at customer service and I should I have been in customer services for 13 years!!

Often times their computer system does not give me my discounts. The cashiers are so fast it's hard to verify prices as they ring up items. Compounded by some discounts aren't tabulated until the end of totaling. So I always check my receipt before leaving store. This time I found a $.41 discount I did not get so I went to cust svc. They rounded up and gave me $1.00 for my troubles! Way to go Safeway!
