On this past March 12 ,2024 I was about 3 hrs in to my trip on my way back to Colorado when my Check Engine light started blinking.Panicked, I pulled off to a town named Ellensburg.Calling mechanic after mechanic, no one could see me.I was crying and terrified , I tried calling the next towns mechanic to see if I could get there. He said don't do that, don't drive the car. He said stay put and I'll make some calls to a mechanic I know there. They called me back and explained they couldn't see me either but did I try Eastside Auto, I said no but let me call.I called and Lou answered.I explained my situation to Lou who told me to come on over.He was closed and workng on his garage that day cleaning but took the time for me.5 months earlier in Tennessee I had my spark plugs replaced in a 98 Ford Expidition . Did everything I knew to get my vehicle ready for a long trip. When Lou ran the test to see what the codes were, we were surprised it was indicating spark plugs.Lou , as most mechanics, gave an audible sigh of the thought at having to get to these plugs as they were behind the engine. But that didn't stop him.He found two that had not been replaced at all!Lou could have told me to come back he was busy.He could have trusted the other mechanic did his job and not checked. He could have taken advantage and over charged me, but he didn't.He worked outside in the cold and finished.Lou is a mechanic like No Other I have meant or heard of.He explained everything. He was not condescending or dismissive at my questions.I coined the phrase "hippie mechanic" for Lou.He wrote down everything and had me take pictures of the old plugs for the original mechanic so I would get reimbursed. (Which i Did ! After much arguing and threatening legal action)Lou is incredibly knowledgeable !But most of all Kind.I will be forever grateful for Lou .And by the way, my car ran great and got me home.Thank you Lou !My best prayers and thoughts for you and yours.

Thank God....We are a travelling prayer bus and had recently been trying to have the antifreeze serviced in our vehicle. Many shops were busy, some just awkward, others not returning calls and finally our own lack of understanding just bottomed out.Soooo, just by Providence, a miraculous chain of events occured placing us in Ellensburg. We met and shared time with a local Christmas Tree sales crew. We offered a Ray of Light to their loss of Morale this year in that THIS YEAR WE JUST HAVE TO WARM EACH OTHERS HEARTS..No one can really survive by themselves any longer, and personal needs and problems are mounting..So, the Crew is just gonna GIVE AWAY the remaining stock.Ok, so "sharing " ,not of material, but now of heart, what a Great and almost forgotten gift. After parting in high spirits we decided to check the prices of the still lingering antifreeze issue. We could not afford it:/However, the last attempt was here with Eastside.Where we were listened to, heard, and suddenly - in the air of what's written above: we were INVITED to the Eastside shop. What an incredible sense of being "helped".Folks, it wasnt JUST the antifreeze solution , it was this man's heart! It was seeing how willing to share and care for someone like us, and being so attentive and understanding in his educational offerings to us.He calmed us. Assured us and sent us.Folks, this little shop is like Bethlehem! Not only ourselves ,but may we all gain from this simple forgotten gift this year,Share---- Help---- and offer your best to another who isn't the Best or has an impossible need that your gift would suit.We all have to make ends meet, but look here today at this : selling Christmas Trees isn't the focus, warming the hearts of families is...Servicing a problem isnt the focus, standing in for someone that has a problem too big for them is...When we do this, the Source that originated "sharing" begins to open and re arrange things so that our needs and problems are resolved with a reward --- Peace and Joy That can't be purchased or caused any other way.We thank Eastside Shop svm for "Sharing " with us Today and wish to alert you that the heart of this shop is not cold , some things may be needed, but what's most needed today is the time and applying for one another what's so easy to give. And this place covered that perfectly and has the ability to service well included. What we discovered together was that the antifreeze was just fine. No service needed..Problem resolved. Peace restored and thankfulness shining from where anxiety had rested..Merry ChristmasThank you God for Eastside Shop and the Christmas crew :)

Lou is great! Went far above and beyond while working on my vehicles. On my Subaru he not only fixed the problem at hand but he also pointed how many other smaller issues that needed attention. BUT, it was how he did it. He mentioned said issue then told me what needed to be done in order to fix it, leaving me with the option of doing it myself or having him do it. He did this many times. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. And very willing to do anything I asked him. Turn around was quick, the very next day and it was fixed right the first time. Even kept all the old parts he removed so I could see visuals of the problem myself. Would recommend highly!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair

Needed to get my alternator changed after my battery light turned on. The mechanic was super friendly and since I ve had issues with it in the past it turned out the alternator was under warranty. All in all the service was done by the end of the day and was affordable!Service: BatteryService: Battery

SAVED THE DAY!!! we broke down on the I-90 only 100 miles into a Memorial Day weekend cross-country road trip. After calling everyone in Ellensburg, Lou was the ONLY one who would look at our car. He dropped everything to figure out what was wrong, fixed a sensor for us and had us back on the road within an hour. I can t say enough about his willingness to help us & his sympathy for our situation. The price was incredibly fair! Lou was so generous with his time and skills. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Lou!!!

I am very hesitant with where my car gets worked on, but Eastside Auto is hands down the best place that has ever worked on my car. They took their time with my car, and was very communicative with me about what was happening and with any potential issues. The service was amazing and my car has never been better!

Lou is a great guy and very knowledgeable about cars. I love that not only did he fix the issue, but also explained how the wiring failed, and took the time to explain other unrelated potential issues to watch out for in the future. Lou is great, very personable and knowledgeable. He also does a great job of sharing his diagnostic process so you have a good understanding. If Lou is available I won't take my car to anyone else.

I towed my car to East side automotive after breaking down on i-90 due to a wheel almost coming off. Left my car there with a note on what service was needed, but I got a phone call the next day and they refused to work on my car and gave me a lot of attitude over the phone. Very disrespectful. Took my car to subie solutions in Yakima and was treated with nothing but respect and speedy service. Avoid east side automotive.Service: Engine repair

Very helpful! I called to inquire if they could look at my son's truck door that wasn't closing. I appreciated Lou's helpfulness in offering to bring my son's truck inside to warm it up to see if possibly the door lock was simply frozen due to the extreme weather conditions. My son is a student at CWU and I live hours away. It's stressful as a mom not being able to help your own kid. I felt Lou went above and beyond to help us out. As it turned out when my son was driving to Eastside Automotive the truck warmed up enough for the truck door to shut. If anything in the future happens while my son is in Ellensburg we will definitely be using this business.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have never had a worse experience with a business in my life. If you live in Ellensburg and need repairs for your vehicle please read!! Stay away from this place! When I first contacted them, a guy answered who seemed friendly and knowledgeable... at first. It wasn't until I arrived to drop off my car this morning when I realized how they actually run their business. The so-called "manager" of this place was immediately rude suggesting that I didn't known a single thing about cars. He then proceeded to cuss at me just for asking him where to put my car keys. Yes, I could have read the sign on the door, but his response was both sarcastic and extremely rude. Getting irritated, I asked if he was going to fix my car or not and I quote... "get the .... out of here" was his answer to that. If you go to Eastside Automotive, prepare to be screamed at and disrespected.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I agreed with Lou to bring my car in for a diagnostic of a weird issue it was having, I know enough to get my way around a car and fix most things, but was at a loss here. He took my car in, seemed very friendly and nice, called me a few hours later after looking at it, we had a great EIGHT minute phone call explaining some things I could try, and agreed to have me pick it up in a few minutes and show me a couple little things. I came down a short while after and was immediately told to take my keys and leave, that I wasted his time. He then said "Do you know how a business works? If I am not working I can not pay my mortgage" I replied with yes of course I will happily pay you for the work you did, I was then yelled at again saying I spent 15 minutes on the phone wasting his time, and I was to take my car and not bring it back. I offered once again to pay for his time he told me to leave once again and stormed out the back of the shop. Not really sure what happened between the friendly phone call and the ten minute drive down there, but it was like I spoke to two different people. AVOID AT ALL COST!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I went in for a radiator issue; everyone was kind, knowledgable, and repairs were timely. I'd go back and I'd recommend them. They were fully booked but squeezed me in anyway, knowing that I needed my car asap and not wanting engine damage. The guy who helped me was thorough in explaining what was wrong with my car and what he did to fix it. Which I appreciate, especially considering there is a fear of being taken advantage of when you know little about cars. I trust this shop to be honest and I got the feeling he genuinely cared about my car/my safety. For the people who write reviews saying that it's dirty; its an automotive shop. They spend their time taking care of your car not making the place clean (knowing it will be dirty again). They can help more people that way....

I give this company very high marks. I would say that we have a long distance business relationship as I live more than four hours away. What I needed was a shop I could trust to take care of my student in an honest and respectful manner. Eastside was exactly that! The customer service and communication provided was exactly what I was looking for. The work was completed on time and with attention to details that I would have only expected from my local "long time" mechanic. Keep up the good work Eastside!

These guys did an amazing job. We ended up stranded on our way to ID with cooling issues. Marty's not only got us in early, they communicated well and committed to getting us back on the road without paying for things we did not need. Highly recommended.

The work they did on my vehicle some time ago was good. However, working with the public day-in-day-out can be stressful for some and if that 1:1 communication gets to you and you "lose it" with a customer, then it's not a bad idea to have someone else in the company do the necessary customer service work - - - - I stopped-by to ask a simple question about the necessity to clean-out the breather at the gas tank. Had vapor lock issues / shut down in previous triple digit temps. I received a rather violent verbal attack instead. Spooky!

Passing through had an issue with a vehicle I had just purchased and stopped by their shop for an estimate for repairs. They didn't try and screw me over at all or even charge me. All it required was a sensor reset. Didn't cost anything and I was back on the road.Turned easily one of the most stressful situations and thankfully helped tremendously

My son had some mechanical problems on his way home from EWU. He was in the Ellensburg area, so we got his vehicle to Eastside Automotive. They weren't open since it was the weekend, but got called us on Monday. Lou, the mechanic, was awesome! He kept in touch with us and got my son's vehicle up and running again. Great people and fair prices! Thanks, Alayna Martin

Very knowledgeable staff that always make sure to present the facts to you before trying to make any kind of sale. They specialize in imports, Subaru's especially. It is definitely the most fairly priced auto repair outfit in the area.

I recently took my car here because the engine light was on. They gave me great information about the problem and didn't try to pressure me into doing anything. The staff were very polite and friendly. Highly recommended!

I was incredibly grateful and impressed with Eastside Automotive. They got me in the same morning I called, had my busted axle fixed within hours, showed me the busted part, explained everything to me in great detail, tightened my extremely loose rearview mirror without me saying anything about it, didn't treat me like i was totally ignorant of vehicles just because I'm a young woman, didn't chastise me for letting my axle get that bad before I brought it in, and the mechanic had a ponytail and was listening to classic 80's rock. Need I say more? I'll never go anywhere else as long as I live in Ellensburg.
