This is a great auto shop that is actually honest, trustworthy and fairly priced. I take my Subi here for everything and they re always so kind. Unlike other shops, they ve had every opportunity to scare me into more work or parts but they don t take advantage of you; they ll give you lowdown on whether you really need something fixed or if you re okay to hold off on it. They re also consistently timely about the work they do on your car, and about communicating with you. This place is a seriously rare find!

I mistakenly bought an 01 Toy Corolla with a rapidly failing transmission. I brought it in for the transmission work, and they let me know that I also had a valve gasket leak and low front brakes. They fixed it all for under 5k. It definitely wasn't cheap, but that is about what I'd expected to pay anywhere I'd have taken it for that kind of work. They did an incredible job! My car now runs like new and it's over 20 years old!Services: Transmission, Brakes

I have taken my Acura, Toyota and now Subaru here for service for 20 years and have always had a good experience. Service is easy to schedule and they will fit you in if it is unexpected. When something was covered under warranty they told me I could get it done for free at a dealership but I had to go to 3 dealerships to find one that would honor the warranty and not charge me. I think prices are always fair and they keep good records on my vehicle. I enjoy seeing the managers at the front desk on all my visits.

They did do the work I asked them to which is good in the end and earned the stars. My issue with these guys comes down to their inability to give me a reliable quote.I could change the spark plugs on my car myself but I figured I'd pay to save the hassle if the price was right. I quoted around and these guys gave me a quote for roughly $250. I got it online and I called in to confirm it, twice. I was clear about the year, make, model and engine and was told that would be the rough price. So I brought it in and it took them less than an hour to call me and tell me the price would actually be over double what they quoted! I reminded them they quoted me much lower multiple times but they didn't seem to care nor were they willing to work with me (the markup on the plugs was egregious). I ended up paying for it anyways since it was already there but I definitely would have gone to a Subaru specialist if I was going to pay those prices.. It took them much less time to do the job than they billed me for but that is common across the industry and usually a sign of a good mechanic so no big deal I guess.Overall I don't think there price was crazy, I just don't understand why you'd provide quotes without confirming you know what you are quoting. And failing that, why not try and work with the customer to make up for the fact you heavily misquoted an easy to price job causing me to either pay double what was expected or waste my time to come back and get my car to take somewhere else. One thing that seems odd, they signed off on their multipoint inspection but I know my car has multiple issues easily diagnosed by sight (leaking thermostat housing, bad front brakes, oil leak on the valve cover right next to where they were doing the work). Seems like they didn't check much.Anyways, as far as I can tell, they did what I paid them for. Three stars.

Recently went to Burien Japanese Auto Service for the first time after for a broken interior door handle latch after seeing only positive reviews online. They inspected the damage, gave me an honest evaluation and options to proceed. Their pricing was competitive and their customer service is top notch. They didn't try to upsell me on anything I didn't need and got the job completed based on the timeline they gave me. I will be a repeat customer. :)Service: General repairs & maintenance

I am so lucky that my friend introduced me to these people. They treat you fair and never try to get you to do repairs or maintenance that you don't really need. I just had my car die while they were trying to fix it (not their fault, I took it in because it was close to death) and they could have talked me into replacing the engine but told me that I shouldn't invest that kind of money in my car. They saved me a lot of money and tears and have worked with me to help get my old car taken care of. They are fantastic and I will recommend them to everyone I know.

I recently bought an Infiniti car so I've been on the search for a go-to place to bring it to when it needs work. Well.. given my experience, this is unlikely to be the place. They don't get much business so you're free to bring your car pretty much whenever, but no doubt there's a reason for that.In my case, I had a very simple job I wanted done and confirmed it multiple times, both over the phone and in person. The person I talked to thought Infiniti was built by Honda, so there's your first warning sign. The very first thing that happened when I got there was a guy yelling at me for not parking in the right spot.. never had an issue with that before. I had an appointment but they didn't start working on the car until an hour after I got there. But the real kicker was that they never completed the job. They did half of it and then refused to finish it. Yet they still charged me (minus $5). They straight up said it would take too much time. They bickered and argued with me, really strange and unpleasant experience.I didn't really trust them to do any more work on the car at that point, and they were closing.. so I just took my car and left. The next day I finished the job myself and IT LITERALLY TOOK ME <5 MINUTES WITHOUT EVEN LIFTING THE CAR. So despite their complaining about how much work it would take, it all ended up being complete bull, I didn't even need any tools.. just my bare hands. 5 minutes and done. Yeah I had a laugh after that. Don't go here.

I can't thank everyone at Burien Japanese enough. My Toyota Camry had quite a few issues and it wasn't running correctly. They were able to fit me in quickly and listened when I explained what the issues were. They explained every aspect of the repairs and the timeline to me and I was able to ask many questions without feeling ridiculed or annoying. My repairs were done quickly and no surprise costs.Thank you so much to Dan and Tanner for going the extra mile and making sure everything was taken care of. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

We came in to do a car check before buying a used car. Tanner fit us in the same day, took the car in at the exact time the appointment was scheduled for, and gave us a very thorough report of any upcoming issues with the car. I would 100% recommend Burien Japanese Auto.

Really honest and helpful staff. Here are 3x's that they've demonstrated this exceptionally:My husband came here because his coworker highly recommended them. I came here because my husband had brought his car here to repair the head gasket. They quoted him a really fair price out of all the places he had called. After they took a look at the engine, they immediately recommended that he sell the car as they would have had to break some nuts and bolts to get to the engine and it would have escalated in labor cost quickly. He took their advice and traded in his car shortly after.I had taken my car to the honda dealership for a standard oil change and gotten a bunch of print outs on things I needed to repair. It was upwards of $2000. I took my car here on my husbands advice and the actual things that needed replacing totalled closer to $400. A couple of google searches later, I realized that a lot of the replacements and repairs I was getting sold on at the dealership were unnecessary upsells.I recently brought my car in because I had a maintenance reminder for a oil, filter, and spark plug change. I had tried calling various dealerships previously and they frustratingly wouldn't give me a quote for a B124 service for some reason. Burien Japanese Auto gave me a clear quote and so I went with them. When I picked up my car, they reminded me that they had recently changed my filter and so could skip it for this visit, even though I had already given the OK on the initial estimate with it. This helped save me from some unnecessary expense.Finding good and honest service seems harder these days so I really wanted to give a shout out to the gentlemen at this shop.

Great service! Thorough diagnosis - they even had two of their mechanics do a drive test, then a third drive test with me in the car to prove the problem was not what I was thinking it was. They explained thoroughly what the problem was, and reassured me it didn't need to be fixed for thousands of dollars if I could live with it. Their charge for diagnosis was only $60 so I'm really happy about that.

Very disappointed in the service provided to my wife by this shop. My wife was in the area (roughly 300 miles from home) when her Traverse started giving a series of dash warnings. I wasn't with her to hook up my OBD2 reader and pull codes so she was recommended this shop by a few coworkers. There were a variety of codes, most of which are usually connected to low break fluid level in the reservoir. They topped off the reservoir and cleared the code.Charged $100+ for a "diagnostic".Anyone that knows anything about regular vehicle maintenance knows that break fluid level is the number 1 indicator of break pad wear. Pads wear down, fluid level is subsequently reduced. This shop never inspected the breaks to check for wear, they just topped off the reservoir.Turns out the pads are indeed worn down and simply need replaced, but had there been a leak, the problem could have become very dangerous on her drive home.$100+ on a code read and probably 6 oz of break fluid. Which I'm now going to have to remove when I change the pads since the system is now overfilled. If the owner is reading this, your "techs" should know that if a fluid level is reduced, it had to go somewhere. So unless you can tell somewhere where it went with relative certainty, you didn't "diagnose" anything!!From a business perspective, you just let a break job walk out the door. These are the type of people that tell you turn your radio up when your car is making a weird noise.

After having my cars cared for here for nearly 30 years, I can say with confidence that this a great place. They are friendly, helpful, well-trained, and efficient. I have never had a problem with their work, not one.

I was recommended to them by two different friends who don't know each other. I've been going for years and they are wonderful. This last time the estimate was high and we were nervous about paying it and the guy directed us to the web site so we could download pretty good coupons and we saved over a hundred dollars. Nice.

I originally was trying to fix an issue with the car having very little power accelerating. The only fault code present was a catalytic converter code P0421, and replaced the catalytic converter hoping that would solve it. Unfortunately it didn't, but did get a new code P0304. So decided to replace the spark plugs, which did solve the fault code, since the code disappeared, but engine power problem still present. For some reason, the next time I cranked up the car, it would start then immediately turn itself off. I checked the ecu again, and had a new code P0203, which is a fuel injector fault code. After checking the power connection, and verifying it was solidly connected. I decided to take it to a mechanic, which ended up being Burien Japanese Auto. The day after I had towed it there, they came up with a diagnosis. Injection coil on cylinder 4 had to be replaced, spark plugs incorrect so had to be replaced. Mass air meter had to be replaced (caused by aftermarket air filter). They referred to codes P0304 , and P0102. Based on that diagnosis, I refused the service, since the P0304 ha already been addressed, and P0102 wasn't present when I towed the car to them. Plus never addressed the fuel injector code. Unfortunately had to pay for 1 hour of diagnostics, which is absurd, since I cannot fathom what they possibly could have been doing for an hour. I could have come up with the diagnosis based on the fault codes, which would have taken a couple of min to read off of the scanner, and maybe 20 min to look at the spark plugs. This is how long it would have taken me, being an amateur. When I got the car back, those two codes were not present. Did they clear them? If so, then why? Codes should not be cleared until a fix is implemented. The P0102 code did pop up after I tried to crank the car again. So that is a little suspicious. I eventually got the car to crank up successfully after i unplugged the power to fuel injector 3 ( based on the fault code), and that code went away. But now the car was idling rough. didn't do that before. Found out eventually the spark plug in cylinder 4 was not screwed in tight when doing my own diagnostics. This fixed the idling problem. You would think some professional mechanics would know to to put in spark plugs. Or maybe they did it on purpose to create the misfire code. Finally after extensive testing of components, looking for air leaks, and cleaning the throttle, I decided to replace the MAF as a last resort (which they called a mass air meter for some reason), and my car was fixed. So the ignition coils didn't need replacing. The spark plugs are obviously not incorrect so no need to replace. MAF wasn't malfunctioningbefore they looked at it. Plus all of their part prices and labor are heavily marked up. They quoted 88 dollars labor to replace spark plugs and ignition coil, which based on their $110 price for 1 hour of diagnostics, would be 48 min, or 12 min a plug (no added time needed for ignition coil since you have to take it out to replace spark plugs). I replaced all my plugs in 20 min, not having done it before. They quoted 60 dollars labor to replace the MAF, which would be 32 minutes . This only takes about 5 minutes. The following is the part list4 NGK 6953 Spark plugs - 4.77 each 19.08 totalAvailable at advance auto parts (a few block down the road) for about 2.50NEC XTP460020 "mass air meter" (Better known as MAF sensor) $264Failed to find that particular part, but all variants are about $130-150. I bought mine for $75UF-295 Ignition Coil $140.62OEM part is $108. most locations for that part, about 50 dollars. Oreilly down the road sells it for $68So based on this experience, I would highly recommend not using, unless you want to pay for parts that might not need replacing at over 200% markup, and inflated labor time. I am glad I refused their service, since I saved almost $600 doing it myself, which includes the towing fee and their diagnostic fee.

The people at Burien Japanese are honest and courteous people.I get all the engine work on my Korean-made car done at Burien Japanese. Loosing Burien Japanese auto would be a tragic loss for our community because of the ever encroaching dishonest corporations and conglomerates (pepboys, les Schwab, etc...) that employ people who don t care about the work they do on your vehicle, just profits.
