Sound Diesel Performance transformed my 2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty into a powerhouse on the road. Gene is one of the rare people who cares as much about your vehicle as he would if it were his own vehicle. He did some in-depth work on our transmission and engine and we are delighted with the results. He even worked late into the night to finish the job after he found out that we were on a tight schedule, and he documented everything. Gave us a bit of training as well, and he s not happy until you re happy with the work. Highly recommend him for Cummins work and would definitely recommend him to anyone who values superior craftsmanship and know-how.

It s a long story, in 2019 a dealership had my truck sent down to them for a warranty repair that turned into a full engine replacement. The owner was amazing to work with and preformed amazing work. Went down to pick my truck up and drove like brand new. Owner only gets new or ultra low mile engines. Warranty company shafted the owner for the rest of the bill, I didnt find out about this tell 2023. Called the owner and talked for a bit and had a great catching up conversation. I will always take my diesel trucks to them even though I don t live close to the area. The dealership sent my truck with the engine in pieces and they took care of it right away. I apologize about the warranty company shafting you and if I would have known I would have helped fight it.Pleasure to work with and a customer for life!

It s Great shop to take your truck if you want it fixed correctly. and gene is a super nice guy i called him at 3 the other day to fix a diesel leak (not thinking it would be that say because they close at 5). gene had me come by the shop at 5 after hours and fixed it in no more than 30 minutes, and he didn t charge me anything either. they really treat you like family there.

Lots of people have given great reviews for the business, not me. I do not like being told to give someone $2500 Dollars upfront in CASH to research an issue I was having with my Dodge Truck after being referred to them.

I'm new to the diesel truck owners club and needed some work done on my truck. I read the reviews for Sound Diesel Performance and was very impressed. Then I had the chance to speak with Gene and have him and his crew work on the truck. He was very honest and up front with his estimates, what needed to be done and what was going to be done. He and I both agreed with the philosophy of do it right and do it once. In the two visits that I've made I have been very happy with everything that was done. The work was performed in a timely manner and at a price that I couldn't complain about. My truck is running great now! I will not hesitate to use their services in the future and will recommend them to everyone I know.

My 2011 F350 needed an engine replacement after 315K miles.Gene was able to locate a low mileage replacement engine and have it installed in 7 days. Which I thought was amazing considering it was over the Christmas holiday and his shop was closed for 3 days during that time. The attention to detail and level of communication that I received during the entire process was refreshing. I'm very happy with the outcome and will definitely recommend Gene & his team in the future.

I have an '01 Dodge Ram 2500 affectionately referred to as "The Hildabeast". I am one of those people who love driving, and my vehicles bring me an immense amount of happiness. This truck had been the perfect rig for a long time! But unfortunately, I was to become victim of the dreaded Curse of the "53" block. At around 238,000 miles, she finally gave out. I was overheating, and finally found the coolant leak. Sure enough, it was a cracked block.As I mentioned, I love my vehicles. I typically do my own work, but I didn't have the time, tooling, space, nor frankly the inclination for a project this big. I was pretty worried about where I would go to have the work done. I definitely wanted to keep the truck. It's my ultimate rig, with a 6 speed manual. It's my "retirement" truck.I spent the better part of a Saturday going over reviews of various places, and kept coming back to Sound Diesel. Reviews mean a lot to me, and Gene had some great ones, so I decided to take it to him.Gene immediately diagnosed the cracked block and was straight with me from the get go. "I don't do anything stock" he said and he gave me a quote. It was a good quote for the high quality work that I expected and I gave him the go ahead. I could tell from the start that Gene and I share the same philosophy....do the job once and do it right!Gene was amazing throughout the entire build process! He was very communicative, giving me constant updates as the work was being done, from tear down to buildup. He invited me down to the shop to inspect the block once it was out and torn down, and again several more times as the project continued. I was very impressed with the work, and the atmosphere of the shop. The mechanics he has working for him are also consummate professionals and I enjoyed chatting with them.Finally came the big day when Gene sent me a video of the truck being fired up for the first time, and man it lit right off! He then brought me down to the shop to take it for a drive.Holy sweet mother of whiplash! I knew that my truck was going to turn out good, but I had absolutely NO IDEA of the level of good!!!! This thing is a whole new animal!! Gene made some upgrades for me along the way and I am so glad I listened to his advice. The new clutch he put in is like butter, and the new tuner is much better and more user friendly! Best of all with the new, upgraded turbo, injectors, and Gene's master tuning, the power output is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I actually have to be more careful now because she will break loose without so much as thinking about it if I am not! Hilda is a whole new beast, and I would put her up against any new truck in her class!Thank you Gene, and thanks to your employees as well for the First Class treatment and the love and care you showed my truck!! You have a customer for life!I encourage anyone needing work done on their diesel to go straight Sound Diesel! You will not be disappointed!!!

This review is long overdue. I have had a fantastic experience with Gene at Sound Diesel Performance.First I brought him my 2012 Ram 3500 that I just bought used at a dealer. Seems it had a blown head gasket. I got quoted around 5k from the dealer and another shop. The truck had 5 inch straight exhaust pipe no muffler. Also power adders. It was fast and loud. Way too much of both. I just wanted a good tow rig.Gene is a diesel geek! I mean that in a good way. He told me immediatley that I probably had a cracked head and that the next thing to go would probably be the transmission as I was pushing way too much horsepower and torgue for the stock unit. I had him start the work. He was right. The head was cracked in 6 places. Gene stepped up and gave me a great deal. I got a new O ringed head and head gasket with all new ARP studs and... a new 4 inch exhaust with a muffler and... all those power adders taken off and.... the transmission shift points tuned for the best towing and... some other misc parts and pieces... for $7500 bucks. It's been two years and 30k miles later and the truck still runs flawlessly.I couldn't be happier with Gene and his forthright and honest business ethics.I have since taken other diesels to him and it has always been an excellent experience.I couldn't recommend his services higher.

I've been going to get my truck worked on here for the last 3 years. Gene is phenomenal, and his crew is great too. They reworked installed valves, put in a new turbo, and I get my oil and fuel changes with them too .I highly recommend them to anyone who owns a Dodge diesel RAM truck.Service: Oil changeService: Oil change

I installed a fass lift pump on my 2005 ram 2500 and ran out of fuel hose, in a mad rush to find some more so i could finish my truck, I called acleast a dozen parts stores local to try to find something that would work with 0 luck, In a ditch effort, I called these guys (they answered when they were technically closed) and asked for some hose being they are an authorized dealer and they had tons, they were able to find a way to meet up with me outside buisness hours to make the exchange! And on top of that, gave me an unbeatable deal on it! Look forward to doing other buisness with these guys when it comes to doing a regear on my girlfriends truck after we do her 8 inch lift! Great shop!

I have a 2015 Dodge Laramie 3500 turbo diesel and Gene at Sound Diesel has been amazing, he is a very knowledgeable and experienced technician. I ve been to other shops and had terrible experiences and at Sound diesel it was done right the first time. We will not go anywhere else. I 100% trust him and I recommend that if you need work done to your diesel truck that you take it to Sound Diesel and no where else.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

I recently had a large amount of work done to my 04 Excursion. Bottom Line: Gene & his team brought back the engine to a level that I didn t realize was possible after owning it for only a 16 months. INCREDIBLE job!Not only was the service 1st Class , but I paid a competitive price, and they only use OEM/High Quality replacement parts/components.This is a vehicle I drive everyday, and 4 of those days I take 6 grandkids to school. I cannot be without it for very long. Sound Diesel Performance completed the work in 3 business days. I plan on putting another 200k miles on my Excursion and it will not be serviced anywhere else ..ever!

I have a 2004 F-350 6.0 diesel that had starter problems. I'd called the week before and arranged to bring it in on a Tues. That Monday I managed to get it started and called Gene to see if I could drop it off that afternoon, "No problem". Once there I pulled into the yard, Gene gave me a quote for a new starter which I agreed to. Then I pulled out my phone and arranged for an Uber to take me home.Then Gene and his mechanic come over, they want to reposition it so he can get under it easier. "You're doing this now??" Yup, old started out, parts guy shows up with a new one, new starter in, and it's done. Less than an hour and I'm on my way. The best experience I've had at a shop in a long time. Highly recommended.

I can not say enough how awesome Gene and his guys are. They took in my truck from a shop that had taken it apart and left it. It took time but gene worked with me to make my cummins 100% right again. I will recommend this shop to all I know that drive diesel trucks. And I myself will not use any other shop . If you want quality work that is done tonthe highest standard folks look no further. Hands down best shop in town or in the area IMO. Gene worked on a OSB F250 Inhareted from my father, I can't explain enough the qaulity of work he did, he know his shet( a diesel genius). I'm getting a crew cab OSB F350 that I wouldn't let anyone touch but him. He was able to squeeze me in wich I much appreciated. Don't waste your time anywhere else.

Sound Diesel came highly recommended by multiple people I know. Gene knew exactly what the problem was when I told him the codes that came up and gave me a solid estimate on what it would cost without even seeing it. He s straight forward and honest. Even let me know I should be running diesel fuel additives (which I wasn t) and a different tune for towing. Great service. Great work. Great shop!Services: Electrical, Oil change

Stop your search, and just go to Gene at Sound Diesel. This guy knows what he s doing and I can t thank him enough for the work he s done for me. I unfortunately had my transmission done in my 5.9 Cummins by another not to be named shop and had nothing but problems with it. The other shop basically told me I didn t know what I was talking about and would have to find someone else to figure it out for me. We did some digging and found Gene, he was able to get us in and diagnose our problem, which in fact was an error from the original shop. He listened to me and took the time to explain everything to me. He was able to look into a problem created by someone else and FIX IT, which isn t an easy task. He then reached out to the company and was able to get them to pay for their mistake and for Gene to fix it for me. He took care of us and communicated with pictures and videos. He is passionate about what he does and truly cares that you have a great product and are satisfied. We will not be taking our truck anywhere else from here on out we have full faith Gene is always going to do what is right for his customers.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

I trust Gene and his guys 100%He diagnosed an issue for me over the phone and guided me through the repair on Easter weekend. (Always keeps me on the road!) "O-Ringd head, fuel system, piston replacement, these guys can certainly do it all!! I also think he bleeds Diesel. Thanks for being there, Gene!

So glad I found Gene and Sound Diesel Performance. I knew it was time to get my 2006 Ford F250 "bulletproofed". I checked out one shop, but left concerned about their work. I found Sound Diesel Performance on line, read the reviews, talked to Gene and decided to look no further. Not only was he enthusiastic about getting the work done, he worked hard to get all the parts needed during the recent supply shortage situation. He provided a video of the work and took me out for a test drive after the work was completed, where we both enjoyed my reaction to the increased power and drive of my truck. He clearly has a passion for diesel and takes great pride in his work. I highly recommend Gene and his crew for all things diesel!

I changed a rail mounted fuel filter on my F350 and created an airlock. Gene walked me through the steps to fix it on the phone. No one else bothered to help other than suggesting I tow it in. Thanks for the great service!

I had Gene "dealerproof" my F250 powerstroke 6.0 in Nov 2020. After he did all the work, my truck was an entirely different truck. Sounded better, no cold start issues, more power, quieter, less exhaust smell and just runs way smoother, it's easier to drive. I now have a real sense of confidence in my truck and will continue to use and recommend Sound Performance DieselUpdate 2022 - Sold truck after continuous problems. Never right after they worked on it. Every time something new broke/leaked within a month, never their fault. Spent 30k with them and just had to finally give up on it. Disappointing, I think Gene intends well, but he s not the one doing the work in my experience. I don t miss being constantly ridiculed for not being a diesel mechanic, I kind of thought that s why I was paying him top dollar. I wish him well, but don t miss the stress of having to call him with yet another problem.

My 2007 Ford F350 6.0 had a turbo over-boost code as well as I wanted to get it bulletproofed. I had no where to go but the internet to look for an expert. After reading the reviews I went with SDP. Gene is amazing! Basically diagnosed the condition on the phone and got me right in. Got everything done in a matter of days including some performance upgrades. My truck now runs better than it ever has!! Gene was easy to work with and communicated what needed to be done very clearly.
