If you're looking for a reliable, fair-priced, and trustworthy place to take your car to get worked on, take it to Whiteheads Auto! Brent, the owner, is the best VW/Audi mechanic in the Hampton Roads area. Extremely knowledgeable, and very transparent. When I had a question about my VW Jetta Sportswagen TDI, he took the time to thoroughly give me an explanation. It feels good to have the peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong with my car, I have a mechanic I trust to get my VW back to good health. Brent, the owner is very knowledgeable! He has been working on Volkswagen and Audi for over 50 years. He is a very professional and FAIR priced. Will never advise you of things you don t need! The dealer had given us some vague run around on my car. My other local guy Les was booked out and I needed to get my car fixed. I randomly googled this place and I am so glad I did. Brent is AWESOME! Honest and keeps to his quotes. There are no surprises at pick up. He is great with communication updates on progress and the price points are so much more affordable than the dealers. Brent works very hard at what he does and cares about his work. When I call the dealer for service they ask me the specifics about my car (even though they have the info in front of them and It is where I bought it). When I called Brent he needed 2 questions answered and it was like his brain was a computer spitting out volkswagen parts and numbers. These mechanics know their cars and have a TON of knowledge. I had a great experience and I will be using them again. I was so pleased from start to finish I came on here to share it because I know what its like when you want to find a good mechanic. I needed a mechanic that understood Audi Diesels in the Virginia Beach Area when my friend got a bad tank of diesel from Speedway. The dealer estimate was more than the car was worth and the time frame for repair were unacceptable as my friend was basically stranded in the Outer Banks. Reading reviews and having worked with wrenches before, I could not understand the review score of the shop of near perfection - as dealing with the public makes that nearly impossible.After working with Brent in this instance, and later meeting him in person, it all becomes very clear. Aside from being an expert mechanic, Brent is the type of person you only meet once in every five or ten years or so. He is genuine, honest, friendly, and personably such that you know you can trust his every word or action immediately after your first encounter. Despite being crazy busy, he will answer your questions and provide information like you are the only customer in his world. Because my friend was stranded, Brent asked some customers if they could wait a little longer to get their car back and even went back to work after hours each night to get this car repaired so my friend could get home.If you asked me whether he is a better mechanic or better person, I would truly be stumped. He is a great guy and a great mechanic. Anyone needing VW/Audi work that lives in this area is very fortunate to have such a great independent shop and owner.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Brent is simply great! He helped me with a used 2010 Tiguan SE 4MOTION. He immediately recognized what the problems were. Fair prices too. Absolutely recommended for German cars!

After taking my car to the dealer for an inspection and being hit with a 2k bill for a couple of repairs. I called Mr. Brent.... All I can say is he was great to deal with. He was honest about everything that needed to be done and saved me 600.00 for the same work.My daughter took her car back to the dealer which they asked who did the work when she said Mr. Brent even the dealer showed much respect to this guy. I have NO problems returning back to Mr. Brent for my work going forward.Thank You Mr. Brent for your hard work.

I was stressing over a repair that my VW 2012 CC needed fixed. I found Whiehead's Auto Repair. Spoke with Brent over the phone, it was like I had known him all my life! He got my car taken care of fast ! Thank you Brent you, you are God sent.

Brent knew my 2002 Audi TT inside and out before he laid eyes on it. He explained its condition (pretty good!), suggested repairs, and completed them on time and for a good price, especially since he uses only high quality parts. He's kept his word in every interaction and I wouldn't trust my car with anyone else.

Brent is a star. He's an absolute gem who has a VW library in his head. There's nothing he can't figure out. He is always honest, fair on pricing and goes above and beyond 100% of the time. He has consistently treated me with respect and knows his s#!t. Nobody else can come close.VB has been rough on me but Brent has always been a gentleman and just good guy. A real stand out in this community. Thank you Brent for everything.

Would hire again. My 6yr old GTI developed some operational issues. I took my car to Whiteheads and the issue was fixed accurately and was fairly priced. The magnificent disarray of the grounds should be ignored. This might be the best place to take your VW if you live in Virginia Beach and don't want to visit the dealer.

We brought our 2008 VW Passat to Whitehead s for check engine light and the car would just shut off. They did a diagnostic test. They are so honest they could not pinpoint the exact cause. They reset the codes and told us to bring the car back if the problem persists. They would immediately do another diagnostic test since they reset and stored the test on their computer system. I would highly recommend Whitehead s for your auto repairs.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

The kind of place where you get to know the owner and the owner knows your name. Whitehead is knowledgeable and doesn't mind explaining what's going on with your car. Very reasonable and you don't feel like you're getting ripped off like when you go to the dealership. Seems like most people bring their VWs in, but I brought in my Audi and he took care of it. Makes sense since they're practically the same cars.

Absolutely wonderful experience with the owner and shop. My husband and I really appreciated the work, time, and effort shown to us. 5 stars! Will definitely recommend. Owner's knowledge on the vehicles was a cut above the rest.

Have been fortunate to have Brent work on both my Jetta and TT for some years now. Very knowledgeable, dependable, honest and fair. Soooo less expensive than buying a new car.

Outstanding shop! Pulled in on my old Harley, with my license plate falling off on a Saturday morning. The mechanic let me borrow a few tools to get me back on the road, and helped me out to boot! He definitely didn't have to help me out after hours, when he could have been spending time with his family. But, he didn't want me to be stranded. Amazing character, and I would gladly have him work on any of my vehicles at the drop of a hat!

Had a great experience as will many others even though you can tell they are very busy he was able to take the time to diagnose my car with very little information and was spot on with his diagnoses.They are very busy so be patient with them and they will get you were you need to be.Highly recommend.Thank you for your time.

A small shop that specializes in VW's, especially air cooled and old school rides. I have a 2011 that had an airbag fault because of a light that I unplugged below the HVAC controls and all it needed was to reset the airbag system. He did a quick scan with the VCDS tool and then reset the airbag system. He hooked me up real quick and had me ready for my inspection in a flash, not to mention he stayed a few minutes after his closing time to help me out! Checkered flag wanted $120 just to look at it! Whitehead's shop might not look like a super clean state of the art work place, but they know their stuff, they are super helpful, and very nice too! Not to mention the price is much closer to reality. Thanks again!

Pretty good. I was spoiled with a Volkswagen mechanic in San Diego who built Volkswagens in Germany back in the day for a living and raced them. Whiteheads is a pretty good mechanic who knows his stuff and I've had no issues with him so far except that he is backed up with work so much that sometimes it takes a little bit longer than I would like to get stuff done. But if that's the only problem I have then I'm good with that. I guess that's a good problem to have, he always seems top be busy. =)

Outstanding VW mechanic. Fair prices and extremely knowledgeable. They did a great job on a timing belt/water pump replacement on my 2006 TDI. I will never go anywhere else again. This is the place to go if you live in Hampton Roads and own a VW.

Small VW only repair shop. I had a very slow oil leak in my 2005 VW Jetta 2.5 automatic. Dealer said it was the transmission and would cost over $6,000 to replace the transmission. Brent diagnosed it as a leaky vacuum pump, normal repair $1,200 but discounted it to $1,000. Commonly misdiagnosed by mechanics (see HumbleMechanic on YouTube or look up VW Jetta Oil Leaks) Also did a once over on the vehicle. Honest and reliable service, could not be happier with Whitehead Auto Repair, highly recommend with you have a VW and want reliable service at a reasonable price.

Very courteous and helpful, spoke with them over the phone but was informed of their time frame and referred to another shop which was helpful. If i had an Audi or VW i would def take it here.
