Just purchased a used BMW and wanted to check the brakes after hearing a little squeal. Tracy put it up on the lift and checked out the brakes and rotors. Told me they have at least half the service life left. He even took it out for a little drive to make sure there wasn t anything he was missing either. Didn t want me spending money I didn t need to. Bottom line is he and his crew are top notch. Wouldn t charge me anything for his time to reassure me all was good either. We just moved back to the Hampton Roads area. Won t be using anyone else going forward. This is our mechanic now.

The car shop is a great place to take your vehicle. I didn t have a repair place so I took it here out of the list of place offered for my vehicle warranty. The staff were nice and approachable. They answered whatever questions I had. They stayed in communication with me when they received the parts and how long from then they expected it to take, etc. The repair did not take as long as I expected and called me as soon as it was ready (which saved me more money on my rental). If I need any repairs down the line (hopefully not) I ll be bringing my truck back to them. Very professional and everything working good as new.

Highly recommend this business. Amazing experience. Fair price and friendly service. Manager, Tracy, was very good about communication and my car was ready ahead of schedule. Will definitely return for all vehicle repairs. Another bonus was getting a discount on labor for being a GEICO associate.

The Car Shop did an excellent job working on my vehicle and provided very quick service! I got all my brakes & rotors replaced within 5 hours and was able to pick it up the same day I brought it in. Tracey had amazing customer service both over the phone & in person. This establishment offers military discount as well which I can appreciate. This mechanic makes you feel super comfortable and it is very easy to find their shop. I definitely recommend them for any of your vehicle s needs.Service: Brakes

My husband and I have taken two of our vehicles to The Car Shop and they did an amazing job both times! They worked out all the warranty details and kept us posted on the progress of our vehicles and told us what was covered with the warranty. Hands down, we recommend The Car Shop for your auto needs!

I scheduled an appointment through my vehicle finance company and they recommended me to The Car Shop. I scheduled last minute they were able to approve my appointment within 24hours took the vehicle for brake repairs and was done less than 2 hours. The customer service was on point he directed me through the entire process and really took his time, the manager Tracy, to show me exactly what was causing my vehicle to make a loud noise. He was about to educate me through the process. I waited in the waiting room and it was nice and clean. Highly recommend, this is my preferred repair facility now. Tracy and his team are absolutely amazing. In amongst a sea of shady mechanics preying on the ill-informed, they are a breath of fresh air. They do great automotive work, in a quick and efficient manner, with transparent pricing. I even took a used vehicle to them for their review prior to purchase, and they gave their honest assessment of the car, greatly assisting in my decision making.It can be very hard to trust mechanics but I can say The Car Shop has earned my trust and business

Had such a good experience at the car shop! My temperature gauge had been working on and off and making other stuff sound weird in my car. I m not that knowledgeable when it comes to car stuff, however Tracy let me know I was in good hands. He explained everything in great detail so I could understand exactly what was wrong and what they were going to be doing. He also gave me an estimate beforehand so I would already have an idea of what it would cost AND what for. I wasn t asked for anything extra and wasn t scammed into buying anything I didn t need. I came in with a problem , and they fixed the problem . also in a timely manner might I add. Overall the service was amazing and I will be back :)

I ve been to see Tracy twice now. Once for a water pump repair under my Repair Pal warranty and once for general maintenance with brakes/rotors, etc. With my warranty, I didn t feel like a middle man - they handled it all without me even having to look up my contract number & I was in a rental car with Repair Pal 3 hours after I dropped of my car to him. For my general maintenance issues, the service was fast and efficient and he explained all the charges before completing any work. These guys are the best! They replaced my transmission and power transfer unit in my vehicle that was under warranty with Carmax. Tracy handled all of the paper work, phone calls, and e-mails with the warranty company and kept me informed during the whole process. Very courteous and professional. I have nothing but POSITIVE things to say about The Car Shop. The Service there is spectacular, the owner (Jeff) goes way beyond to make sure you are satisfied and super honest, he doesn t try to sell you things you don t need. He even throws in thing at his cost. His prices are also some of the best in Tidewater. I called around for rates for comparison and no one came close. One company wanted $2800 dollars more to perform the same work, unbelievable.If you need auto work done go here , nobody I know compares. Performed Engine Tune Up, Replaced Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets, Put in Intake Manifold Set. Replaced Temperature Door Actuator Right Side. The Manager is top notch.

I have had my vehicle at this place two times. Both times I have been treated amazing. I was given all of the information each time. The first was a simple battery, but I was provided some tips for dealing with the battery on my specific model of vehicle. The second time, I was dealing with a blown AC compressor during 95+ degree weather. They called to let me know the warranty people were not being cooperative and only willing to cover just over half of the factory part. It was explained to me very clearly what it would mean if I went with the warranty companies part versus The Car Shop's recommendation. These folks give you like it is and I would 100% recommend them. Honesty in the car world is in short supply but not at The Car Shop.

My car was making a horrible noise and I was convinced it was the exhaust. They diagnosed the problem and quickly fixed the problem because they knew I d be traveling. Tracey, the manager kept me informed every step of the way. They were incredible. I ve finally found a mechanic I can trust.

Call them from referral from Assurant extended warranty. The Hyundai dealer told me it would be a month and a half before the could even get me an appointment. When I book appt online with the Car Shop they confirmed it for the next day. They had to order the part and did so overnight. When the part came in damaged, they expedited the replacement and reduced my bill by the cost of shipping. All around great team and quick service. My SUV was making a terrible noise, they identified the issue (bad driveshaft) and promptly ordered parts. I had the car the next day and was extremely pleased with their service and price. Tracy was awesome. Had problems with a misfire and they took a look for me. Narrowed down the issue and gave me a quote in minutes. What would ve been an expensive fix anywhere else they took care of it for a good price. They very clearly demonstrate good parts , good service at a good price. Very thankful for this company and they are very military friendly and off military rates. Employees are also prior service so it s a business you can trust. My experience at The Car Shop was excellent in every way. When my car popped an alternator light, a friend strongly recommended this shop for any work that I needed done. When I called, they were able to take my car in right away. Since I was having work done anyway, I also asked them to inspect and recharge my air conditioner as well. While they were doing this they discovered a major failure in a component that had been discontinued. Instead of giving up, the staff at The Car Shop went out of their way to develop a solution that fixed the problem and returned the system to full function. They were knowledgeable, professional, and went the extra mile for me. I will work with them again if I have car issues and will recommend them to friends.

The Car Shop was able to get my 2012 Audi Q5 looked at and diagnosed on the same day. He ran a compression test on the car and the engine had jumped time and bent valves. He quoted us a fair price to replace the engine, along with a military discount, but we ultimately decided not to get the engine replaced. I'm done paying outrageous money at the dealership and waiting weeks for an appointment. Due to their fair rates and service I will be taking our vehicles here from now on. Getting my car serviced here was great experience all around. Unfortunately my air conditioner broke just as summer is rolling in, making it very uncomfortable to drive. In an effort to get my AC fixed as soon as possible, The Car Shop was able to take me in for a diagnostics test the same day I made the appointment. Not only were they accommodating to my schedule, but I felt they were very honest by giving me some of my options on getting the car fixed. When it came to filing a claim to my Carmax Maxcare extended warranty, they did a great job at ensuring that got taken care of as well. They got the part the following Monday and my car was fixed the same day. Would definitely go back!

The car shop is a straight forward repair shop that honestly tells you what is wrong with your car and they charge you a great price to fix it. I am not an expert with cars and I feel like they always explain everything thoroughly and give me options on my repairs. I most recently had a major repair that a rival shop quoted me over $1,100 to fix. I ended up taking it to the car shop and they explained that the rival shop was inflating the repair and I didn't need everything they were telling me it needed. The car shop ended up fixing my mangled car for around $600 which is about half what the other shop was going to charge me. Overall the car shop is a great place to trust with any of your car repair needs.

I moved to the Hampton Roads area in 2013. Unfortunately, The Car Shop was 6th car shop I tried since I got here. Growing up in a Gear Head house with my dad being a Rolls Royce mechanic from Memphis and being able to fix anything he touched; I have very high standards when it comes to who touches my cars. From day one these guys were very honest, friendly, accommodating, and genuinely helpful. Their communication about what is going on with whatever vehicle of mine they have worked on is stellar. Pricing is always very fair and they have never once come up with any BS reason for extra repairs. They have worked on 4 different cars and a jet ski for me. As long as I live in the area, this is the only place I would ever take my vehicles for service and repair. All around a great place!

This was the best experience I have ever had at any automotive shop ever. They where most professional and still the friendliest people ever. Their work is fantastic and done in a timely manner and they work to keep cost down. This is definitely the shop my car will be returning to for all of my automotive needs. I absolutely will be recommending them to everyone who needs ANY automotive work.... Thank you Jeff and Kelly you are awesome to say the least...

1000/10 Highly recommend this shop. Insanely quick service, dropped my car off on a Monday and had it back by Wednesday morning. The manager was insanely friendly. And it didn t cost me an arm and leg. This is the only spot I ll be taking my car to from now on!

This is hands down the best auto shop I ve ever used. I ve been to the shop for everything from a chipped flywheel (major repair) to a service 4wd light that only required an electrical connector to be reseated (minor repair which they charged me nothing to fix). Each time I come into the shop they show me which parts they replaced and take the time to explain why it needed to be replaced. Also, they will not charge you for unnecessary repairs if they cannot replicate the issue you have described. They are great about recommending repairs that may save you money in the long run. For example, my flywheel repair required a transmission drop, and they offered to change my rear main seal at no extra labor cost because it is a known issue in my vehicle and they had already done the work to expose that part. It cost me an extra $25, and potentially saved me an additional $1,200 to drop the transmission again in a year or two to access that area. I trust this shop, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a trustworthy, knowledgeable mechanic.

Was traveling from out of town when my alternator went out - bad timing nearly 300 miles from home. Chip and the team took wonderful care of me and got my family back on the road.They even worked with my local mechanic on a warranty issue. 5 stars.
