After moving out of Richmond and into the country was really nervous about where to go. I usually just drive back to Richmond. Decided to give a local company a chance. Especially because I own a couple of vehicles that do a lot of custom work myself. 100% did a great job very friendly, very nice. Definitely the country lifestyle. I'm looking for people that actually care about what they do. Thank you all very much for all the work.

My van lost all electrical control while going 75 in the interstate. Late Sunday- finally towed and I chose Mac s from reviews and being one of the closest auto shops (our one bit of good luck that night). We left the van there for 5 days due to parts being ordered and knew it was in good hands throughout. The communication was EXCELLENT- thorough, explained everything well and were kind with every aspect; knowing it was a challenge for me living a couple hours away. My van now runs smoothly and I m so grateful they were the shop that took care of us. Highly recommend all the way and if I lived closer, I d trust them for all future car needs! Thank you Charles and Mike and Dana! You all were wonderful!

I went for an annual vehicle inspection. They shuttled me back and forth from my house to the shop very quickly and conveniently.They didn't try to over sell me or make me replace anything for my inspection sticker.Pickup took maybe 2 minutes. Establishment is big and clean and professional.I'm very pleased with the service. Would recommend!

At the end of a road trip, my engine had some issues and my car had to be towed.I'm glad it was brought to Mac's because they helped to fit me into their tight schedule to get me back on the road early on a Monday morning and were very responsive and up front with everything along the way. While others might have had me wait a day or two since they were already busy, Mac's helped fit into my schedule.

I buy quality used vehicles, pay cash, and maintain them in a pristine condition. My long-term cost of ownership is significantly lower than those that buy a car every 2 or 3 years. This car is 11 years old, the picture on the left is the day that I bought it, the one on the right taken today. Mac's has done all of the maintenance.I just completed a major air conditioner repair that cost in the low four-figures. Mac and company were sensitive to the cost, saved me money where they could and took the time and expended the effort to do an extra-special detailing job before returning it to me. That is service!These are more than service providers, these are my friends. From Mac, Bill, and Bob at the service desk to Devon and Keith the detail guys and drivers, we know each other. I am leaving the area and I will miss them. They are my friends and should be yours.

I bought my daughter a well researched Subaru Outback from a "dealer" w/ a warranty. W/in 24 days the car blew a head gasket and wasn't usable. Warranty denied coverage, and to make an incredibly long story short, Mac's discovered the wrong engine was in the car. Throughout this entire ordeal Mac, the owner has been in constant contact w/me. He's gone above and beyond to right a wrong he didn't cause nor was he a part of. He put in countless hours of work trying to help us. Can you find an auto repair facility that's cheaper? Maybe. But you won't get the personal touch, care, knowledge and the guaranteed work (with a warranty) Mac's provides. Having dealt w/several ppl at the shop over these months, it's clear to me that Mac leads his team by example, and they're held to a high standard of morality and service for their clients. Took my car there and they tried to rip me off. I work on my own stuff. They said it failed for inspection and I needed rear brakes and a light bulb to pass, for $800.00. First off that's like a $300 or $400 job. And when I went home to do it the brakes were totally fine and the bulb was on. Never take your car here. They are scammers

Mac s saves the day! My 2017 Ford Expedition decided to lose all of its differential fluid while on a cross-country trip. Mac s crew got me in and back on the road in no time. Amazing service and staff above and beyond!

My wife and I have a Subaru. We had to have control arms replaced on the front of our cars. Mac,s serviced both cars the same day. We were very excited. The workmanship was great and service price was reasonable. Mike and Victor were very friendly. I would recommend Mac's Auto to anyone. Satisfied customer.

I ve been using this place for quite awhile. When my Hyundai needed a replacement transmission they took great care of it and when I had to get it done again (Hyundai s fault, not Mac s) they made sure I got one that worked good.They recently replaced all four tires on my Subaru and listened to me when I asked for one back to use as a spare.Service: Wheel alignment

We have had service at Mac's multiple times and each time they treated us like family. Recently we had them replace an alternator that has continually acted up since having it replaced by a national chain with an aftermarket part. The chain would temporarily fix it each time it acted up, but it was a continual problem for most of 2 years.Mac's didn't stock the OEM part, but mentioned that the replacement part is the same part provided to the manufacturer by Denso. Nonetheless, they gave us the no pressure option to use the dealer for the OEM part, or the equivalent from Denso. We went with Mac's because besides a good price, they have a great warranty.Mac's installed the alternator several months ago, it has been been flawless and reliable ever since.Thanks!Service: Electrical repair

I was having an issue with my 2016 F250 diesel 4x4 and after speaking with the ford dealership since they had repaired the issue previously I was not feeling confident and was not wanting to return to them I received a recommendation from a family member to reach out to Macs Auto Center based on his pervious repairs to his vehicle performed by them. After speaking to Mac (owner) I felt so confident after our conversation I had my vehicle towed 60 miles out of pocket to his facility. I am so glad I did not only did he diagnose and repair the issue it was so reasonably priced I was able to have other upcoming maintenance repairs done while it was there. They also were the first ones to alignment my truck and have the steering wheel straight afterwards. We were in a bind with having our battery die 3hrs away from home. Mike at Mac s was extremely helpful and professional. Answered our questions and got us squared away quickly with a new battery and checking the system to make sure nothing else was wrong. We were on our way in no time! Highly recommend! I've used Mac's Auto Center for oil change, tire rotation & inspections for a couple of years. Flexible to get in and out. The 5 start rating comes from them helping with my father's '08 Camry. We tried to fix a transmission leak on our own but it came back. Father took car to his normal auto center and they wouldn't touch it. I took it to Mac's and they were not afraid to take on the work. They fixed the issue without charging us more than what the car was worth. Great to have such a good/reliable place for auto repairs!!!Service: Transmission repair

I have been going to Mac's since they opened. They take great care of my 3 vehicles. They are very professional and their work is exceptional. Once fixed you don't need to return the next day because it wasn't done right like many shops. You always get an estimate for the work before they do anything and they stick to it. They will keep you and your loved ones safe. Mac and his entire staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. Bill and Brandon at the service desks, Pam who checks you out, Kevin who drives the courtesy car and provides the free wash and vacuum (nice touch!), and the great mechanics. I love the reward points and coupons also! They make the experience much better. I have a hybrid car (Prius), and a Toyota dealer in Charlottesville diagnosed the problem as a bad inverter and said it was not covered by any Toyota warranties. They would charge over $3500 to replace the inverter. I declined to have them repair it, and I took the car to Mac's Auto Center. In a very short time, Mac's confirmed the bad inverter diagnosis, and said it could be replaced with a rebuilt one for about $1000. I said I would think about it and let them know. Within just a few minutes, Mac's called me back and said they had done some research on my behalf, and they said that our car was indeed covered by Toyota for the failed inverter. For me, that meant a free repair...for Mac's it meant the loss of a $1000 repair opportunity. To me, this was the perfect confirmation of Mac's high integrity level and dedication to customer service, which I had already believed was true. From this point on, I plan to have Mac's do all the significant service on my vehicles. I could not recommend a better company.

Wow, these guys were a God send! Car broke down on I-64 this past weekend with my entire family and Mac's was the closest repair shop that was open. Lucky for us.Took my car in early morning Saturday and let them know of my conundrum. Our service manager was Brandon H. and he really took care of us. He quickly diagnosed the problem and worked with the technician to get us repaired immediately, despite not having an appointment.We were in crisis mode and the folks at Mac could have taken full advantage of the situation. They did not, they were beyond accommodating and beyond fair in what they charged for the repair. I was truly humbled by their humanity in dealing with our situation. We are forever grateful.The mechanic, Ben, fixed the problem properly and we were able to trek the 4 hour drive home without incident.Brandon and Ben are a reminder that there are still good, decent, people out there doing business. I will absolutely recommend Mac's Auto Center to anyone that is willing to listen.

My little 2003 S10 pickup is very dear to me, it was a gift from my late husband one year. II have always gotten excellent service from Mac's, Bill Burke always treats me with kindness, and tells great stories as well. He knows so very much about cars! Everyone who works there has the same helpful attitude.I am treated like I'm a really big deal, even though my needs are usually pretty small. It's very nice to feel like a friend instead of just a customer.I will never go to anyone else to have car maintenance done.These are trusted professionals!

Once again, Mac's Auto Center nailed it with their expertise and customer service. This time, our 2005 Highlander was at risk of being taken off the road because it could not pass the emissions test required in Maryland. After a series of mechanic interventions designed to just get by, we finally decided to have Mac and his amazing staff take a look at it. Yes, it needed a new catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, and all the parts and labor required; and the screech in our AC unit turned out to be belts in great need of replacement; and they took care of all of this. Fun side note, in their usual excellence in making sure to bring other needs/observations to our attention, they noticed that the third brake light was staying on -- turns out, the bulb had gotten so hot from staying on, it melted the casing around it. More expense than we planned on, but that certainly explains why the battery kept draining down requiring jump starts and ultimately a replacement battery. They were gracious with a loaner, kept me informed at every juncture, and the car was washed and ready to go when I came to pick it up. They are so professional and knowledgeable, and I always am confident that they care about my car as much as I do. Cannot recommend more highly without sounding like a fan girl!

I have a Chevy pick up with a Duramax diesel engine that blew up on me. Mac went above and beyond the norm to help me find a lightly used engine and installed it in my truck. I am self-employed myself and understand Customer Service. Max Customer Service is great. Mac s is my general mechanic for everything and always does a good job and stand behind their work. I would recommend Max to everybody.

After my first time bringing my car here, I don't think I'll be going anywhere else! The staff here were absolutely wonderful and kind, and the mechanics fixed my car quickly and professionally. I don't have anything negative to say at all. I brought my car in feeling stressed and upset, and I left feeling valued and comfortable. I would definitely recommend anyone and everyone come here if you want quality care for yourself and your vehicle!

I usually don t write reviews but this is totally worth it. These guys are awesome and they are so kind. They always get the job done and I trust them with my Honda Accord. Called Mac's (Troy, VA) on a Friday morning to address gas in diesel tank of MB Sprinter based RV. Nathan was very helpful and confirmed that the shop would be able to work on the vehicle but not until the following Monday. I informed Nathan that the approx 5gal of gas had been introduced into the partially full diesel tank at BP station approximately a mile away and that the RV was moved approximately 300 yards away from the pump and shut down. Nathan confirmed that if I towed the RV to Mac's auto center they would drop the tank flush the fuel system and replace the filters on Monday. The Tech advisor with my roadside assistance service informed me that he had also called and explained the situation and was also told that Mac's could do the necessary work to get the RV back on the road. I stopped into the shop around 4:30pm to confirm our discussion and then escorted the vehicle with the tow truck at 6:15pm. Monday morning I called to speak with Nathan and get an estimated completion time for the vehicle. Nathan asked me to hold and a few minutes while he checked with the mechanic, later Bob (manager) was on the phone telling me they would not be working on the vehicle and that I should tow the vehicle to a Mercedes dealership to have the work done. I have no issue with Mac's electing to not work on the vehicle but doing so after the time and expense to tow the vehicle was highly unprofessional. The 3 day delay getting the vehicle to a shop that could do the work, and the additional towing and hotel expenses could have easily been avoided. Furthermore, Bob indicated that the determination to not perform the work was made after a diagnosis was done on the vehicle. This is not true. In addition to the mercedes sprinter chassis notifying my cell phone whenever the vehicle is unlocked or a door or hood is opened, I have motion detection cameras mounted on the RV. I can confidently say that no mechanic touched my vehicle before I called Mac's at 9AM on Monday morning.

Great service at Mac s auto center. I have taken several cars here over the last few years. I brought in my Mini Countryman for an expensive repair and Mac s discovered that it would be covered under an extended warranty at the Mini dealership. They saved me $2000 in the end and I always recommend them as a trustworthy repair shop. I recently brought my Subaru to them for the 30,000 mile service and they saved me about $200 plus a wash and detail of the vehicle versus the dealership fee in Charlottesville.

I brought a high mile newly acquired 2004 Ford F150 to MAC's for a complete safety Check and Virginia State Inspection review. The service writers communicated well and gave me the options I needed to make this Truck a good addition to my Ranch. They were thorough and careful and delivered the serviced vehicle on schedule so I could keep my out of state travel plans. I went away with the knowledge that items that could wait for future visits were not safety related and that the value of my recent purchase was just what I needed.Services: Tires, Steering & suspension repair, Oil change
