I got my car towed here after taking it to Midway auto repair in Norfolk first and the only thing I can say is I wish I would ve brought my car here before anywhere else. After being told that I need a whole new transmission costing me $4500 At Midway auto repair, I got told that that wasn t true and my repairs cost way less like a few thousand dollars less. I appreciate the honesty from this shop and the staff being so helpful and really nice during this stressful time. This shop has just earned a new customer for life! Thank all of you guys for your help!! My car hasn t driven this smooth in MONTHS.

Had a transmission replaced. Scott and his team did a fantastic job. Keep me informed the entire time, got the truck back a day early and for the price quoted. Highly recommend AAMCO in Suffolk.

They did an awesome job with installation of my transmission. My truck is back running smooth like when I first bought it. They gave me the best price out of 3 repair shops. I am extremely pleased with my service & their level of professionalism & expertise. I would highly recommend using them for your car service needs.

I brought my 1972 Mustang Mach 1 to them because for the past 6 years that I ve owned it, it never shifted into 3rd causing me to never have been able to drive it over 60mph. They went ahead and rebuilt the trans and only took them about 2 weeks with having to order some parts from California! While they had the car they took very good care of it bringing it inside every night making sure no one broke into it or stole it. I can confirm they do GREAT at rebuilding classic transmissions so if you have a classic car that needs a Transmission fixed, take it to AAMCO Suffolk!Service: Transmission

Excellent folks there at the Aamco in Suffolk. Scott was very helpful pointing out a few points I should consider in taking care of my recent purchase of a 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel. Thanks Scott for all your good help. Definitely will be going back there if I have any automotive problems.

Overall great transmission shop. Had work done on my 2012 Ford Fiesta, with no regrets. Scott and Gearld are honest and up front. The best part about this shop, they will only fix what needs to be done, they are not out to just get your money. ok so last Wednesday i called and asked Gerald for an estimate he said he would get back to me with a price, the next day no response. so the following day i called and reminded him he said he was sorry they had been busy and he promised to call me before the day was out, this morning(a week later)i called him and said nevermind I've already gotten my car fixed at another shop he said that's fine and hung up on me

I'm sure they do great repair work, but when it comes to diagnostics, they are completely incompetent! I had a sensor issue causing the transmission to not go into overdrive. They wanted to replace the transmission without even addressing the real issue. Don't go here unless you are ready to spend A LOT of money!!

Scott was honest. The issue with my vehicle was going to cost more to fix than it was worth. He let it stay on his lot while I posted it on FB to sell. When a prospective buyer (mechanic) came to see it, Scott took the time to share the details so the buyer would know what he was getting. AAMCO does a lot more than transmission work!

I took my vehicle for servicing because I thought I was beginning to have transmission problems. After doing a diagnostic check, they determined I needed a tune up, air filter change and fuel injection sevice. I have been driving my car for the last week and it is riding smoother than it has in a long while. I'm very pleased with the service I received and highly recommend this establishment. Also the staff was very ? and made me feel valued as a customer.11/21/2023 -y daughter's car was displaying the engine service light. I called to make an appointment. I was able to get an appointment that same week. After a diagnostic check, they made their recommendation. My daughter's car is running smoothly again. They only did what was needed and made suggestions on issues that I should watch in the future. I feel confident in their work and honesty to do what is needed and not run up a large bill for work that is not needed. I highly recommend this place for all of your mechanical needs.Services: Transmission, Air & cabin filter replacement

Always my go to shop because I can TRUST them which means alot these days. Took my daughters car there for engine issues but because the owner was so knowledgeable about the make and model having issues, instead of just allowing me to spend my money at his shop for a new engine, he suggested I take it to the dealer to see if the manufacturer would actually cover it. And guess what? They did!!! Aamco has always been and will continue to be my "Go To" shop for any and all issues. Thanks Scott and Team!

Took our Ram 1500 here because we noted the transmission temperature was running high while towing our travel trailer. We were able to drop the truck off the same day & was ready for pickup the next day.. The owner Scott was extremely knowledgeable and even made a follow up call to ensure we were satisfied with the service and result. Would definitely recommend!Service: Transmission

Great experience! A large dealership told me I needed a whole new transmission. I took my car to the Suffolk AAMCO for a second opinion. It's running great now and I did not need a new transmission after all. These guys are honest and will treat you right.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

These people are so wonderful. They did everything to help me find financing and get my work done and they saw me stressing and helped keep me calm. They gave me many options of what I can do to help save money. Very helpful. Kept me up to date throughout everything and very professional even when I would call in between to check. I will most definitely refer them to other people.

I left a good job to come work here, scott promised me $27 an hour, i get in there and work 2 weeks before he decides to do payroll he pulls me into the office and tells me that hes only going to pay me $22 an hour which is totally illegal all because he got his feelings hurt, so if you jerk Scott off the right way he may pay you correctly, not taking anything away from the other techs that do thier jobs well, but if you stand up for yourself he will try to make it about him cry and leave for half a day because you were right...

This was a long overdue review, they did such a great job with getting my repairs done. They were able to fix all of my transmission problems plus more. Got the job done fast and they were able to work with my hectic schedule. Great customer service. Owner/manager even reached out after a month of my service to check. These guys ROCK !!! I dismissed this place as doing only transmissions, not realizing that they do total car care. They did an awesome brake job for me. The staff was very personable. They even installed my custom headlights that I could not get no one else to do. Even after the work was done they called me to follow up to see if I was still satisfied with the work. Dude! I ve been searching for good auto mechanics, and here they are right here in my own neighborhood! Please do not bypass this place if you need a state inspection, brake job or anything done to your vehicle!! Thanks AAMCO !!Service: Brakes

This is the place to go for automotive care. The service I received was outstanding and well above my expectations that I had. It was super unfortunate for me that my vehicle is not really worked on there, but that did not matter. I was still giving information about my issue and was told to go to a competitor due to complexity of my issue. All was free of charge because they could not help. Just amazing, Gerald the customer care representative was amazing and had fantastic customer skills, i actual felt that I was rude after my phone call. The dude was great. This all starts at the top the owner is awesome and really cares and wants to help people with their care needs. I am almost going to buy a different vehicle so they can work on it. Just want to share my experience with AAMCO in downtown Suffolk for anyone that may need transmission work done.In early July coming back from the beach, my truck (2014 Tundra with 95k miles) wouldn t shift past 4th gear and ran at 3000rpms at 60-65mph the whole way home. Had a few codes pop up on my reader when I got home indicating transmission issues. Spoke with several friends who are mechanics and it blew their minds that a Toyota with that low of miles was having those issues.I took my truck to the Toyota dealer, because who better to find and fix the problem than the place where I bought it? Their response was I needed a new transmission and it would cost me $6k with only a year warranty .My neighbor suggested AAMCO in downtown Suffolk as he s had some work there.So I went there and told them what Toyota said. Mind you, I was expecting to have to get a new transmission. The owner overheard me telling the tech the issues and said there ain t no way. They checked it out, diagnosed the problem, and was able to fix the issues for a fraction of what I was about to spend on a new transmission. At no time did I think they were trying to swindle me or anything.Just food for thought. Will never go back to the dealership.Service: Transmission

This is the best place to come when you need anything fixed on your vehicle. HOWARD is a very nice person and does everything he can to help you. Update 12-1-23 I have come back several times to have work done and Aamco is amazing and Gerald is now the owner but Scott has done my work on my Equinox and I am very satisfied with everything. Thank you everyone at Aamco

Amazing service and great energy. Scott followed up with me after I forgot about my appointment and was more than happy to reschedule and work with me on making sure I got this work done on my car. It took about an hour to complete my transmission fluid change. I enjoyed the singing in the back room as well. Gerald even assisted me with jumpstarting my car battery give me a tip on how save some money on a new battery. I enjoyed my time here and will definitely be revisiting soon.

Very nice folks. They diagnosed my car honestly without trying to find extra things wrong just to make a buck or scam me, like most shops do to females. I will definitely return next time I need a shop.

I recently moved to Suffolk, and didn't have a go-to auto service center. After one stop here, that changed. AAMCO's professionalism, quality, and attention to detail have convinced me that this location is my new regular shop. Other places may charge slightly less, but I'd much rather have the job done right the first time than constantly have cheaper work re-done. I'll be a customer here as long as I'm driving.Services: Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic

Suffolk Aamco was fast, efficient & very thorough! I d highly recommend them to anyone for more than transmission issues! I was in and out in less than an hour for a diagnosis that turned out to be something other than the transmission. Pricing is better than most and the customer service was awesome! As a woman, I m not very familiar with mechanical mess and they didn t make me feel ignorant while taking the time to explain the issue with my vehicle.Service: Transmission
