Walnut hills campground treated us like royalty! They picked up our trash every morning and delivered fire wood as needed at night. Friendly staff and friendly fellow campers. We were the only tent campers for the weekend and had plenty of peaceful space to our selves to play music and relax. We could ve spent all weekend there but we also liked walking around to explore the beauty of the campground. We really enjoyed the extremely outgoing ducks and they seemed to love us too! Would recommend coming here in the spring for perfect weather and flowers everywhere! We had so much fun and will definitely be back! Thank you walnut hills!

The only hesitation I have about recommending this place as highly as I want to is that I m afraid it will get too booked up and I won t be able to stay the next time I come through!I am a woman of a certain age traveling alone with my elderly dog, on a demanding long distance drive. We were both tired and overwrought, and we were contending with rough weather that caused us to have to adjust our itinerary.I d stayed here many years ago and also during the period when it was briefly a KOA. Under Julie s firm, warm, creative & skillful managerial grasp this is the best stay I ve ever had there. The place is flourishing. From the first phone call to checkout, I felt safe & looked after. They were so friendly & accommodating and the tone of the whole place, all the other guests we met and staff we encountered, is relaxed and reverent of the history & specialness of the place. We had lots of sweet chats and strolls through the grounds (stunning in early Spring) and enjoyed a blissful nights sleep. We got back on the road the next morning feeling rested, refreshed and uplifted. It does my heart a world of good to know this place is in such good hands. I ll always return to Walnut Hills.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this campground. The staff we interacted with were extremely polite and helpful. The grounds were kept up, no issues with the amenities provided and check-in/check-out was super efficient. For those with T-Mobile service, there is a tower nearby so you will have full bars of 5G UC. We will definitely return.

Coming from Maine trying to get to Tennessee and needed somewhere to rest for one night. The lady I spoke to was so accommodating. And pleasant. This camp ground is amazing so clean and beautiful. I was able to do our Landry as we were right next to the Landry room. Clean also I would highly recommend Walnut hills campground to anyone!! Thank you Walnut Safety: Very well lite

This is a great campground! The staff/owners were so nice! We were going to be arriving after dark so we called to see when the office closed. They were going to be closed by the time we got there so they offered to come out and meet us when we got there and show us to our site! Luckily we were able to find it without getting them out in the cold but still, you can't beat service like that! The only issue we had was the sewer hook up on our site, 625, was not around the water and electric like usual but a good 20' towards the front of the site. Had to go buy an extension to reach it. Sad thing is we had plenty of hose - at home! Learned the lesson of "better to have and not need than need and not have " ;) Next time we will have extra just in case! The dog park was great and the campground was clean and well maintained. They even have laundry facilities! I would definitely recommend and God willing, we will be back!

We had a great time in a great location! Quiet if you wanted quiet...fun things to do if you wanted activities! Service was great! We rented RV Site 402 and the Hilltop Cottage/Lodge and both were perfect for our families as well a close together. The campground was close enough to Staunton that we were able to enjoy an evening out to see a play at the American Shakespeare Theater on Saturday night! Overall this was a wonderful weekend!Nearby activities: Lots of things to do in the area. We did the American Shakespeare Theater as an example. Wish we had more time than just the weekend!Safety: Very safe campground.Walkability: Nice lake for walking around.

We were there for 3 months, and we only enjoyed a month and a half out of the 3 months. They are under New Management now. I know that winter is a much slower time of camping,but... Their amenities ARE NOT the best, see only, maybe 2 ground workers, but the views and scenery are beautiful!! The ducks are awesomeness Nearby activities: They were interesting

Sharing a negative experience we had at Walnut Hills Campground is important to ensure others are aware of the issues we encountered. As full-time RVers for the past 8 months, we always made timely payments and took great care of our equipment while staying at this campground. Throughout our stay, we couldn't help but notice the frequent breakages and the overall poor management of the campground. When we informed them of our departure, we took all necessary precautions, especially during the winter months. We disconnected the water hose each night so that it wouldn't freeze up and connected it back up the next morning. On the day of our departure, we made sure everything was clean and well-maintained before checking out.To our surprise, four days later, we received a rather unpleasant email from the managers. She claimed that we hadn't taken care of the hydrant and that we didn't do the necessary maintenance every night. We were well aware that we had followed the steps each night. However, no inspection was conducted at the time of our departure. The manager insisted that an inspection had taken place and that it was our responsibility to cover the costs. When we called to discuss the situation and seek clarification, the manager was uncooperative and continued to blame us and cut off communication. To our dismay, she abruptly ended the conversation and proceeded to charge our card without our consent.Later, the manager sent another email, this time with supposed "proof" of the hydrant's damage. However, it raised suspicion as she never inspected the area when we checked out, and there was no established protocol for checkouts, considering we were full-time RV residents. It became clear to us that this manager was simply trying to extort money from us.It is crucial to be cautious of this campground as it has experienced frequent turnover in management, with new managers every few months. This lack of consistency leads to an undermanaged facility, where proper care and attention are not given. We strongly advise staying away from this place, as they will find ways to exploit guests for financial gain.

This was our first stay at Walnut Hills and definitely not our last. We wanted to unwind after a busy Thanksgiving day. Site 509 on the Hilltop was a perfect pull-through site. Long, wide and private. The campground is clean and friendly, and offers great opportunity to get some power walks up and around the hills. 15 minutes to Staunton, 20 minutes to Wsynesboro, ,3 minutes off I-64. Couldn't be any more conveniently located.

The bathrooms and showers are always dirty and rarely have toilet paper. I have provided rolls myself pretty consistently but they go quick. One of the two showers seems to have issues getting hot water. The urinal was clogged for a couple months but they finally fixed that. New management seems to have a chip on their shoulder about everyone not paying enough ( which has been told to me a couple times) and is upping the pricing on all their long term site renters. I get it, but maybe temper the approach. And if you're going to up the prices, try keeping the bathrooms clean and fixing the issues they have. Also, communication is horrible. I was told I would be able to stay here and go month to month after the time I requested because I wasnt sure how long I needed to stay and when I went in to talk with the new GM she told me my site was booked for day to day campers already in April and that my site was never meant for long term use and they had nothing else for me so I had to prepare to leave. Which was never disclosed to me up front. When I told her I dont have another place to go because I need a couple more months before I can buy a house, it was basically met with an oh well attitude and she hasnt reached out to me to resolve the issue or apologies for the miscommunication since. She basically blamed it on the way the other people were running it. She has a very "there's a new sheriff in town" kind of approach, and thats not sitting well with people here. With all the fees and the cost of a camper you could surely rent a house and deal with less people coming in and out daily and less non sense from campground management. This is not a pleasant place to stay for long term renters. The GM 100% does not care about people, only profits. I get that it's a business, but you can still run a business and display a little humanity in the process. I've heard multiple people complain about her now. So while I may be the first one to speak up, I'm certainly not the only one that feels this way. My advice is to either find another campground, or make sure you ask all the questions for any "what if" scenario that you think may come up during your stay. And for the record, my dad stayed here for a couple years and loved it. Never had an issue and I loved coming to visit. The vibe sure has changed...I'll be here for a few more days before I permanently move out of here and dont look back. Management can seek me out if you would like to have a productive conversation about this. You know where to find me.

We had a wonderful time here . The manager was very understanding of some events that happened with us.Watched a beautiful sun rise and watched a beautiful full moon. The only thing that would make it perfect is having a microwave in the rustic cabins .

We just love staying at Walnut Hills. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and the staff absolutely could not be nicer. This last visit, I royally screwed up our reservation and they fixed it for me without batting an eye. The rustic cabins are perfect for camping with a family - close to the bath house, mini-fridge for keeping snacks and drinks cold, and the linen package is 100% worth it to avoid having to pack a ton of blankets and pillows. My kids love the playground, and even tho we're usually too busy to take advantage of them, the campground always offers a whole raft of activities to keep the little ones occupied.

Walnut Hills Campground went above and beyond to create a memorable weekend for campers. Our sites were large, level, clean, shaded, and separated from other sites. Bathrooms were convenient and clean. The amenities provided by staff were awesome, my kids enjoyed the pool, the tractor ride/water gun battle, the foam party, and the glow lollipop hunt. We had a blast and will absolutely be back!Nearby activities: We were only a few minutes outside of Staunton VA with stores, restaurants and more, and the camp store provided everything we needed in terms of ice, emergency food etc.

We came to visit Polyface Farm for a conference and were excited to find accommodations nearby way more comfortable, welcoming, and convenient than any hotel. Beautiful campground layout; we stayed in a deluxe cabin to sleep 3 adults comfortably with a kitchen and bathroom, complete with a nice hot shower. They've got covered porch swings as well! Looking forward to our next visit.

Customer service was amazing and the camp was beautiful! I would only stay in the RV spots by the road as a last resort, or quick overnight stay. The rest of the sites are beautiful! They have RV sites for every experience level driver (back-in and pull-through). I m looking forward to my next visit!!Noteworthy details: The sites around the pond and creeks are beautiful!
