I was referred to Wayne's shop after decades my entire driving life with another reputable shop that sold to new owners and became "corporate". Worried I wouldn't find anyone else I could trust but am thrilled I have. Simply, Wayne and his employees care, and treat you as if they hope to see you again. They don't nickel and dime and give you options based on what they would do if it were their own vehicle. I consider them friends.

Wayne and his crew are honest guys and they do great work. They will not overcharge you for services and they won't do work that really isn't necessary just to make a buck like some other shops in the area. They have worked on several of our vehicles and even helped us with an out of town pre-purchase inspection of a vehicle we were considering buying. In a world where integrity and honesty means less and less, this place reminds you that it still matters.

I've had these guys work on my vehicle a couple times. Once for a brake light, and the other time for an oil chance and a state inspection. Both times they've done great work for a reasonable price, and they dropped me off/picked me up from work! Highly recommend.

I was very impressed with their service and ability to provide an economical fix for our older car that had an exhaust issue preventing a successful state inspection. They were able to get a small portion fabricated in less than one day and keep our vehicle on the road with minimal costs. They saved us over a thousand dollars for a new exhaust and were extremely customer focused!Service: Exhaust

We were on our way to North Carolina for a college interview when our brakes broke, and thankfully these guys were close by for repair. They were able to fix our brakes in under 30 minutes and essentially save our trip! I d highly recommend seeing these guys when you re car s in need of repair, and THANK YOU AGAIN to you guys for helping us get back on the road and make my interview!

We were driving through from out of town when our brake calibrator bolt came out, but were lucky enough to be 3 min from Hensley s Family Auto. They fixed it right away allowing our son to make his college interview. Thank you so much to the crew at Hensley, they were awesome!

I'd give 0 stars if I could. I ordered tires on Thursday morning October 12, 2023 and was told by Wayne they would be in Friday morning at 10. I left work Friday morning and dropped my truck off at 0950. I asked if they had a shuttle service, and they said yes. I told them where I worked and Wayne said he'd pick me up and bring me back to the shop when I got off work. When I got off work, I called Wayne to see where they were, and he said in the back parking lot of where I worked. While on the phone, he told me the tires didn't come in, so he brought my truck so I could get home. He apologized and told me the tire supply company comes from Maryland and wouldn't be able to make Friday's delivery. He told me the tires would be there Monday morning, and he would pick up my truck from work at 10am to take it to the shop and take care of everything. On Monday at 10am, Wayne and Jacob were no shows. I called and talked to Jacob and asked why they didn't get my truck, and he said he was sorry, but they were "super busy." I asked why they didn't call and he said, "sorry we got busy and just forgot." I told him I'll take my business elsewhere and hung up. Fifteen minutes later I got a call from Wayne, and he said the tires didn't come in until 12pm. I reminded him about picking up my truck, and he said they were very busy. I asked why he didn't call me to give an update, and he just said sorry, "we were busy." Wayne never offered to right his wrong, so I told him I'd take my business elsewhere, and he said okay. I would not recommend this shop due to their lack of communication, excuses, and lousy service.D. Tooley

Amazing service by a small, locally owned family. I needed to get an expired State Inspection taken care of and they had me in and out in about 20-30 minutes. I was able to call ahead a few days before and reserve the first morning spot for inspections. Extremely nice and understanding guys running the shop. I will absolutely be back to Hensley's and if you need service and don't want to deal with delays of Charlottesville shops, head on up to Ruckersville and Hensley's!Service: Vehicle Inspection

I had a great experience here when my car was having sudden issues and I was in from out of town. Wayne was quick to answer the phone, provide thorough testing, work on my car, and give detailed explanation. I am so grateful for the services and experience!

Called for a quote on installing headlights. Provided specific make/model of car. I already had the headlights, so only labor was requested for the quote. Hensley provided a quoted price range and I agreed and set an appointment for installation. Hensley didn't get the job done until the following day and also charged $100 over the UPPER limit of the quote they provided, which ended up being higher than other quotes I had received from other businesses. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend trusting the quote to be accurate or the job to be done when they say it will. I'm giving two stars vice one, as the job was successfully completed by the following afternoon without any additional issues. Primary issues: timeliness, organization, and accuracy of quoted pricing needs to fixed at this business.

I just want to say I couldn t be happier with the service that I received at Hensley s! I took my car to another shop in Charlottesville where I found out that the new guy did my oil change and ended up botching the entire thing. Most of my oil had leaked out unbeknownst to me, and I had been running the vehicle all weekend. When I realized what had happened, I called the shop and they suggested that I had it towed there. My car arrived first thing in the morning, and Stu immediately began communicating with me. He found the problem instantly. The previous shop had use the wrong tool to remove my oil housing which resulted in breaking it causing my oil to leak out. I was sent pictures of what happened and everything was explained to me in terms that I could understand. I was very concerned about whether or not there was any engine damage in my car. Stu and the guys at the shop did a great job making sure that my engine was still ok! I believe Wayne even went all the way to Culpepper to get the part they needed from Toyota! They even communicated with the previous owners shop, and I was very happy about how the entire thing was handled. Customer service and compassion at Hensley s was great. They treat you like family! I would highly recommend for all of your mechanical needs!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

A friend recommended Wayne very highly to me, so when my check engine light came on I gave him a call. He found and repaired the issue, as well as an oil leak that was missed by the dealership the last time I brought it in. Wayne went out of his way to get the parts from the Toyota dealership and made sure that I had my car back a quick as possible (after a long delay from the dealership) and for a fair price.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Great guys working there. Wayne took care of me upfront letting me know all repairs that were necessarily needed to fix my wife's car. The 2 gentlemen in the back worked hard and thoroughly to make sure my wife's vehicle was done in a timely manner. Very professional aswell and had a great time talking to all the guys. Overall a great company and experience and I will be back for sure anytime to get my oil change, tires rotated, or any repairs needed. Want to get the word out about this hidden gem. Wayne is a kind, friendly and compassionate owner who deserves your business. To have a panicked mother from a another state call with only 15 minutes left in your scheduled hours and take the time to listen to our story and agree to help us was refreshing. My son's vehicle was towed from one place to theirs, looked at, fixed and put back together within two days. My son is able to get back and forth to work and my husband and I have confidence in the work that was completed. The price seemed fair and reasonable, but the piece of mind is PRICELESS especially from so far away. My daughter's inspection expired without anyone noticing. They were able to squeeze us in the same day I called and finished it by the end of the day. The guys were friendly and funny, and they had the added bonus of coffee and a shop dog. I will call them first the next time we need work done.

Huge shout out to Hensleys family auto for not only fiting me in with super short notice but also going above and beyond with their work!!! The staff were all so kind and I appreciated the honesty. Their rates, I felt were incredibly fair as well. This delightful place told us we needed a $230 part (the indicator/high beam switch) and they would have to take the steering wheel off (causing more labor costs) to pass our car. Turns out, they lied. It passed for a new set of windshield wipers at a Hyundai dealership. $56. Nothing wrong with the column at all. Never EVER would I ever think of using or recommending this place. It's basically theft. Thank everything they were lazy about ordering the part, or we would have continued to pay them for illegal business tactics.

My daily driver broke down on me and i had it towed to hensleys, because they have a fantastic reputation. They were a bit busy with state inspections at the end of the mobth but they got my 2009 scion xb in when they were able and found the issue and got me goin again. my altenator failed, which also drained the battery and i asked for the serpentine belt to be replaced while my vehicle was there as well.. Wayne and his staff are amazing! Grateful for businesses like Hensley's Family Auto Service are still thriving today. As a driver on multiple platforms: Uber, Instacart, Doordash.. i am truly grateful for them

Been dealing with Wayne, since they took over (and before) . Always good to work with me, because of my traveling for work. Takes care of 3 vehicles and 3 vehicles for friends of mine. Great Job Guys!

Hensley's was wonderful, exactly as a local auto shop should be. The shuttle didn't mind waiting a few minutes for me to get there, they were very quick for the oil change/wipers/strange noise (about three hours) and incredibly reasonable on their pricing.

I have been going to a neighboring mechanic for years never truly satisfied. Today I stopped into Hensleys for help with a tire and not only did they make me a priority, they treated me kind and fair. I will officially be switching all our vehicles to Hensleys! I needed an inspection, as mine was past due. I had tried half a dozen places and all were the same story get here at 7am and it is first come, first served basis and nearly laughed at when I don t have the ability to drop it off. Well that s nearly impossible for me. I went here on a whim and was really pleased by how professional and kind the service team is. They worked me in and treated me with the utmost respect the entire time. They are a true blessing!!!!!!! I have NEVER had better service at a repair shop! I will be recommending them to my friends and family. Thanks again for working with me!!!

This is the kind of auto shop I wish there were more of. They squeezed me in for an oil change on a busy Friday. You can tell that they take pride in what they do... I m from SC and in town visiting family. When I arrived, I discovered a flat tire. I went to Hensleys and met Wayne. He went out of his way to get the patch I needed for my tire and did it before I had to leave for home. I recommend Hensleys to everyone.
