These guys are the best! I took them my 2009 Nissan Frontier which could barely drive because the clutch was so worn. Norm's got my truck fixed up so nice it feels brand new. I highly recommend these guys. They're affordable, efficient, and they did a great job. Thanks again!

I write this review with tears in my eyes, my 84 yr old father had issues with his truck for several weeks, everyone he had been to before had held on to it and said they'd get to it. We called Norms based on a recommendation, the owner, Robert, took his time and fixed dad's issue while we were there! Truly one of the nicest men I've ever met and understood the importance of my dad having a safe, usable truck! If you have any doubts or questions about where you should take your vehicle, just know that these are GREAT people, knowlegeable, honest and trustworthy! Thank you Robert and the staff at Norms for getting my dads truck back up and running so he can enjoy fishing and hunting again! We would never go anywhere else!

READ THIS!!Yesterday my son (Jack) was traveling back to college from San Antonio to Washington DC. I had just purchased a 2011 Lexus for him and he was driving it back to college.We were nervous as this was a car that we had just went in for major repairs right after we purchased it....At roughly 8 pm, after 800 miles that day, warning lights came on and the car was not acting smooth at certain speeds. A few years ago we burned up the engine of pickup because of ignoring warning lights....Jack pulled over and found a hotel to spend the night. He called me the next morning and wanted to know what to do. I called Lexus and with Jack thought the best idea was to find the best repair place in town and leave the car for a few weeks as they did what would likely be a major repair or replacement of the transmission (that is what the codes were saying).I called Norms and the man in charge said he was working on a 2010 with the same symptoms......have Jack come over and we will pull the pan and see what is going on...Jack made the 8 min drive from a different repair shop he was at.The group dropped all they were doing to help this young traveler...over the next 2-3 hours they found a leak from the repair that had just been done and that meant all the transmission fluid leaked for the past 1200 miles....almost all gone. They tighten the connection that the repair in San Antonio had not done right....put in 4-5 quarts of transmission fluid. Went on a 30 minute test drive and then ran the car overhead to ensure no leaks.......Jack was on his way to DC....They took care of this kid and got him all set from what was sure to be a major catastrophe.... Later that day, Jack told me they did all of this ....and did not charge him a penny...makes you want to cry...We seem to always forget about all the good that comes from helping others....this is so so special and often why we are here...it is not about $, but about the opportunity to serve others. Norms and their entire team are probably practicing this every day and in every way.....I am just a grateful parent that was the beneficiary of this special group. We have 7 children (Jack is #2 and a very special kid....). This seemingly simple process is what makes your heart warm and be very grateful. Thank you to the entire team at Norms and the impact you have....it is special and so very much appreciated. I am deeply appreciative that you at Norms set out every day to help others and be of service....it is more meaningful than you may know...

Norm s was recommended first by daughter. Last year she was having problems with her Highlander and Norm rather than sell her a transmission coaches her on her problem and she got it taken care of by Toyota.My 2014 Silverado finally needed transmission work after 191000 miles. Norm was quick and thorough explaining and fixing the truck. Runs great!!

I have a f 350 box work truck. Norms came recommended to me by other very happy family members. He rebuilt my transmission in a very timely manner. He upgraded my pan to a larger one as well. I've had my van back for 4 or 5 months now. It drives better than when I first purchased it used. I have had transmission work at another shop and had a terrible experience. I highly recommend this shop. Communication is top notch and the work is top notch.Service: Transmission

I was helping my son move back to college (UNC) from New York when his vans' transmission broke down right outside Roanoke. We knew nothing here so did an internet search and found a few transmission shops. It was Friday and his classes started on Monday so he had to get there that weekend. I had driven my car so we went around to each shop - all said it would take a week or more for the repair. I explained the situation to Robert who thought he might know what the issue was and agreed to look at it but offered no guarantee on when it could be ready. After towing it there and taking a look, I was told they should be able to repair but it rested on if the parts could be delivered in the next few hours. Bottom line - parts were delivered, transmission was repaired and ready Saturday afternoon. Robert and his staff worked through the night! The transmission is like new. I am eternally grateful that they were able to get my son to UNC on time! Thanks again guys!Service: Transmission

Took my Durango down there had the trans rebuilt cause it was slipping.. I use it for my lawn care he had it a lil longer then expected but it was worth it him n his son are extremely nice people...

Take your transmission to Layman!Norm's told my wife that her entire transmission was chewed up, ruined. Took it to Layman. He fixed our problem without rebuilding or replacing, saved us a ton. The transmission was not bad.My brother-in-law also brought his truck to Norm's. They rebuilt his transmission (for an exorbitant amount), but he still had problems. He discovered later that all he needed was a simple coil pack.These are my cautionary tales. Do yourself a favor and find another shop.

I called 8 days ago and told them specifically what work I needed done which was the same work that they had previously on my car. I dropped my car off last night with a list that reflected exactly what I told them I needed last week. Then today Norm s called back to say they could not do the work. No apologies were offered. They simply asked if I knew who I spoke with last week. So, after a week of waiting, my car is in the same condition and not even a hint of an apology from Norm s.

Robert and Ben have worked on both personal and company vehicles for me. Excellent attention to detail. They have performed service, repairs and rebuilds. I ve had zero issues or complaints. Owners are upfront, honest and beyond helpful. I ll continue to use and refer this shop for anything driveline related.

Robert was a life saver for us! My husband and I were driving from Georgia to Pennsylvania when our Trailblazer started having severe problems with the transmission (fluid leaking, loss of acceleration, and inability to switch gears). We called Norms Transmissions and spoke to Robert about the issues we were experiencing. We had a short time frame to try and get the car repaired and back on the road. Robert told us to bring the car over to him the same day I called and even recommended a tow company (Ace Towing) that we could use. He was able to immediately diagnose the problem and provide us an estimate and quick turnaround time for the repairs. The transmission needed to be rebuilt and the lines replaced. He had the necessary parts delivered overnight and the rebuild was completed the next day! He was our guardian angel that day. Everyone at his shop was so kind and accommodating. I would highly recommend that you take your vehicle to Norms with any transmission issues. Robert is very knowledgeable, honest, and fair. We were very lucky to have found him during our emergency situation.

I took my car there to get my transmission work done, they got it in got it repaired and even fixed an issue that was not related to the transmission repair. I would definitely recommend taking your car there they do great work. I did get multiple prices for this repair and they were competitive and gave me the same warranties that I would get with the Ford dealer. If you have transmission issues I would definitely take my car here and let these guys fix it!

Norm, his wife, and his son were all incredibly friendly every single time I spoke to them! I really felt they had my best interest in mind and weren t after money. Replaced my transmission and brake pads in less than a week!! My only qualm is that they don t have a voice mail and rarely answer the phones, which was stressful. They have had my car for 6+weeks now. Told me 3 different times would start on it in a day or two.Edit: due to their work load Robert was unfortunately delayed on my repair. They done a great job on rebuilding my 4l60e for my sierra. Kept all the old parts for me to see, my truck is lifted so I told them to build it to last and install a corvette servo and work on my transfercase. Truck shifts nice and firm and everything is leak free and they got the job done faster then I thought.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Robert, and his son rebuilt my Tahoe's transmission and the vehicle runs soo smooth I thought I was in the wrong vehicle when leaving his shop. Norm's Transmissions doesn't play around when it comes to hard work, excellent customer service, and above all very excellent turnarounds at very reasonable costs! Proofs in the pudding! I took my recently restored 1970 Charger to Norm s after another transmission shop rebuilt the transmission with wrong components. They treated it like their own, fixed it and got it back to me quickly. Drives like it is brand new and they didn t damage any of the surrounding parts of the restored vehicle. I will be using them on my next restoration. Thanks!!

Very unproffesional. Poor customer service.In had a tow truck take my vehicle somewhere else causing an additional tow bill after over 5 weeks of sitting at norms. Would not return calls, I heard hasn't got to it yet numerous times after being told numerous times it was going to be next. I had to get my own parts which was fine, that only took up 3 business days out of over 5 weeks. Alot of my family gets their work done at norms, this was an unusual experience at norms for me, as I had just had a clutch job done last year. Has went way downhill. I do not believe I will revisit after this, nor will alot of my family and friends with their vehicles and farm trucks. To me, you can have the most top notch work, but if your customer service isn't up to par, or if there isn't any at all then your work means absolutely nothing.

Genuine, down to earth people. Robert was able to figure out the general issue before an official diagnostic, and told me up front what it might need to fix. After he looked at it in his shop, he gave me specifics, then, within a week had the issues with my transmission fixed instead of me having to buy a brand new transmission.He even showed me the worn out gears, and let me keep them afterwards!Great guy, great family, and trustworthy businesses ethic.

Greatest place to have transmission work in Roanoke! My dad had 2 transmissions rebuilt here 8yrs ago and theyre still going strong. I also had my tahoe transmission rebuilt here a couple years ago and its doing fantastic! Great people to work with, and they definitely go the extra mile to make you happy with their work!

The family at Norms went above and beyond to repair my transmission. They also found other problems that could have led to another faulty transmission and fixed those for me as well. All done at a fair rate. Thank you guys for getting me back to work!
