I'd give them zero stars if I could. They put a $4500 transmission in my truck that lasted less than a year. It is out of warranty by a couple thousand miles.Update: When I called them to check on the warranty, JT told me that I was out of warranty but I could bring it down there and they could look at it. I asked, if I did indeed need a new transmission would I be out of warranty. He replied yes you are out of warranty, but at the very least, to help me out, they might be able to be competitive against the shop that currently has my truck. So essentially, after screwing me out of 4500 bucks, they want me to bring it back to them so they can get me for another 4500.So the response from Pete, below, is a complete lie. I was told At least twice, that I was out of warranty. Pete is trying to re-define what "out of warranty" means.I still remember the day I took my truck there less than a year ago, a friend of mine who has been a mechanic in the area for 20+ years told me I was going to regret it & that everyone in the automotive industry knows these guys are shady. Boy was he right.

I have been a customer here for over 5 years. I have had both of my vehicles serviced for maintenance and repairs. Everyone is knowledgeable, informative, friendly, courteous, and prompt. They have superior customer service. There is no other business that I trust in the Roanoke Valley to assist me.

Very friendly and accommodating. Basically did a walk-in & by that same afternoon they finished checking my car over, including any prices. Worked with my Service Plan & offered a back up warranty plan through them at an affordable price. This was my 2nd visit- 2 different vehicles & I will continue using their services.

When I was unable to find anyone in a 3 city area to do an annual transmission service, on my Class C RV, they really stepped up to the plate. Although I did have to wait 3 weeks to get in they scheduled me. When I got there they were extremely helpful, seemed experienced, and quick. I am so grateful to Cameron and all the staff at the Roanoke VA AAMCO.

Have a gmc Yukon with 160k. Transmission nuked itself in my driveway. Cameron was able to get me in at the beginning of the week and had it back Friday. Awesome turn around time and so far seems like great work. JT answered all my questions when I d call to bug them also. Great group of guys. Aamco did an excellent job getting my A/C on my limo fixed. Not many places would service a limo but they got me in while servicing other vehicles back to back. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and they have great rates. It's hard to find an honest mechanic these days. Definitely recommend A+ 5

JT and Cameron were great to work with! Easy to communicate with, great follow up and they went way out of their way to help my wife and I with a little tricky and involved transmission replacement. I recommend this place to everyone!!! I took my car to 2 different places because transmission fluid was leaking out of my car, it was jerking and it was making a awful grinding sound. One place told me it was dry underneath and my transmission fluids was full, that was a lie. Ammco found the problem in no time and fixed it!!! The people there are beyond nice and seem to care a lot about their customers. They told me they were hoping I didn t need a transmission, thank god I didn t. So I would recommend this place to anyone!!!Service: Transmission

After having them replace both catalytic converters my engine light come on. To find out they used JB Weld and it's leaking showing me a code for o2 sensors. Wish I could post video and picsService: ExhaustService: Exhaust

Had a transmission drain and fill done today. Prior to coming the tech I spoke with gave me some info on inline transmissions that I didn t know. He was extremely knowledgeable of transmissions. They completed the service and after leaving they realized a washer might have been left off, but most likely not and wanted to check it out to be safe. Took it back and they found it was all good. Car rides better than the day I got it! Most places wouldn t call you to come back, but I m glad they did as well as they offered a free oil service for any inconvenience. Definitely will be returning. They treat you like people not a $. That s hard to find in Roanoke.Services: Transmission, Tires

I have never dealt with a business as professional and courteous as these folks!! From the moment my transmission went out, they accepted my vehicle within 24 hours and promised the repair to be done in the next 24 hours....total of 48 hours from start to finish on a transmission rebuild! There were 3 different people I spoke with on the phone throughout my repair process and all 3 knew the exact status of my repair. Great shop communication for sure. They always made me feel welcome when I called and you could tell they love their jobs and customers. They stated they would pick me up from work when my repair was ready and even informed me about an online coupon they had to save me some more money!! I will update this review when I have driven this vehicle for a bit and can attest to the quality of the repair that I am sure is going to be excellent!!Service: Transmission

Less than one star, on a lazy afternoon with hardly any work being done, the personnel didn't have time to point out the problem with the particular vehicle. Not to mention, they were very rude to the lady when I wasn't with her. I would not recommend AAMCO transmission to anyone given the lack of knowledge at the Orange Ave location.

This is by far the best place I have ever dealt with. I don't play about my vehicles or where I take them. Pete and Cameron are the best to deal with. I know my vehicles will be in top shape after service at AAMCO. I will pay more to get great service and the best service is always provided. I am a little late in posting this, but words cannot express how great the entire crew at AAMCO on Orange Ave in Roanoke is. I was coming off a nightmare experience with Berglund Jeep on Franklin Rd. Berglund completely misdiagnosed my vehicle's problems causing me to getting denied on a power train warranty that expired the next day. After dealing with the Berglund Jeep service department, Cameron and Pete at AAMCO were amazing. This shop has great customer service, they keep you updated along the way, and believe it not unlike Berglund, they actually answer the telephone. This is my 2nd experience with AAMCO over the last 10 years and both times have been exceptional. The Toyota transmission they rebuilt for me 10 years ago has over 150,000 miles on it and still going strong. Thank you all so much for everything - Paul CauleyService: Transmission

We had major issues at another transmission shop and we had our vehicle towed to AAMCO. We could have never expected the excellent treatment and effort these guys put in to helping us. They are top notch and we will always return for any transmission needs. Would have given more stars if we could. Thanks for being a honest shop.

First of all, this is probably the fastest car service I believe I have ever gotten! They were less expensive than competitors, but higher quality. Friendly and fast service! They replaced my clutch and the works. I am very happy with them and I will return for future maintenance/repairs!

My sons Audi A4 had the transmission go out in it a few weeks ago. My local mechanic could not fix it since it's an Audi and he doesn't work on German cars. The first company that came to mind was AAMCO. I had his car towed there. Their prices were very reasonable, the service was OUTSTANDING and they went above and beyond what we expected. I highly recommend AAMCO in Roanoke for all of your vehicle needs. If we lived closer to Roanoke, I'd use them for EVERYTHING they were so great.Service: Transmission

I highly recommend Roanoke AAMCO! A few months ago, the shop in Salem shut down and did not tell anyone. When I called Roanoke AAMCO, they were very sweet about the entire situation and got me in and had my car finished within a week! When my warranty company did not want to pay for the entire thing, they really worked to get them to pay more and ordered parts for me to make the situation most beneficial for me. They even gave me a large discount on of the price of my transmission rebuild because of everything I had been through and basically didn't make any profit. Once my car was finished, they included a 12 month warranty on the transmission free of charge. They were all very friendly and efficient in repairing my vehicle and communicating with me and the warranty company throughout the process. I will continue going to them whenever needed and I would 100% recommend anyone else to do so!

So, I compared several places before having my van towed for new/rebuilt transmission and I picked the right one! Very personable, kept me informed of progress & ask me to bring back in 10 days for a free checkup...to make sure all is good! Who does that?! They will be my go to from now on! Even offered me shuttle service from Vinton if needed! Customer Care!

I can t recommend this place more. I was having clutch issues with my jeep right before the holidays and everywhere was booked. On top of that, no one would work on a manual transmission. I called aamco and they worked me in immediately and had my jeep back on the road within a couple days. These guys are extremely honest mechanics, they won t try to upsell you, and you can tell they take pride in their work. They made a new customer!

Pete Monk is an honest broker and a good man, and he's extremely knowledgeable about everything involved with auto & truck repairs. He has taken care of my Toyota Tacoma on several occasions, and I highly recommend him and his entire crew at AAMCO on Orange Avenue!

Super friendly and professional. I brought my mother in laws vehicle in after she had a transmission repair and they spent over an hour on it trying to find why it was shifting rough. After resetting some codes and driving it, they were able to make it better. Come to find out, the transmission had some intelligence and had to learn my driving habits after the rebuild.

Had my car broke with transmission problem in virginia highway when we were on way back to maryland. Googled nearest transmission autorepair which was 45 minutes to reach there from our location. called them immediately explaning my situation. After long waiting got towing truck and went to their shop,they immediately check the car and said yes the transmission broke. Since we are not living there and its impossible to fix the car, so I had to call tow truck again to tow my broken car to Maryland. And we ended up went back by rented car. The AAMCO guys were so nice and helpful offered us ride to rental car station and let us stay until tow truck come even though they closed for working hour. Also they didnt charge us for car checking fee. We were so thankful and really appreciate their kindness.we will always remember such good people like them. God bless them.

Awesome service. My car broke down and they were able to take my car in and have it repaired all in the same day even though it was last minute. Very affordable as well. The staff went above and beyond (they even gave me a ride home and offered to pick me up when my car was ready)! Very satisfied with my experience at AAMCO. Thank you so much!
