My family and I have been coming to Whitney since I was a baby and he has taken care of every car we have brought to him since moving here in 1995. He services both my dad and my mom's vehicles, my older and younger brothers' car that he helped us find, my dad's wife's cars, as well as all of the one's I've bought and brought him with over the past 12 years of having a license while I've been in the state-- two Honda Civics, one CRV, and gave me advice on a 2021 RAV-4 while I was in Texas.His technicians are experts in what they do and each visit is informative, quick, and well thought out. The waiting area is always clean and organized and it's never taken more than absolutely necessary for all of the great work that is provided.Whitney is the most knowledgeable mechanic I've ever worked with while living in Virginia (22 years), Maryland, Colorado, Texas, and Florida (and even in college when I was at JMU), and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my or my family's vehicles. If you need a mechanic in Richmond, it's worth the drive to Virginia Import Services.

On my first visit with Whitney he stopped what he was working on to not only meet me but hear about a few issues I was having with both our older Toyota's.Advice on the one was "everything should be fine just a computer glitch". ( any other shop would have requested to bring it in and would have a cost associated)our other Toyota Tacoma had a bad exhaust issue. Whitney was over booked invited my son and I to stop in after hours and he would take a look at it. His advice was to drop it off at the muffler shop next door. The muffler shop wasn't sure what to do with it, and again Whitney advised the muffler shop not to mess with the Manifold and replace the Cat. Fixed the issue saving us big bucks drilling and tapping manifold rusted bolts etc. Again Whitney went out of his way to get us straight and no charge.VA Import Keep up the good work! The auto repair business can be expensive, frustrating, hot, and dirty so his efforts are noticed and appricated!

Hands down the best experience I've ever had with an auto repair shop. I've been taken my Honda CRV and my Honda Fit to Whitney for a couple years now and it's always been the most pleasant experience. He's always honest and someone you can trust to know he's not ripping you off and always does quality work on your car. I can't recommend this place enough - you should absolutely give them your business because they deserve it!! I wish I could give more stars!

I have been going here for years and they are definitely my mechanics of choice for my Toyota and Honda vehicles for routine maintenance. No problems ever and I feel they are fairly priced. Often busy, so best to schedule an appointment.I do tend to go to the dealer if there is an emergency item just because I live on the Southside and I know it's sometimes tough for them to fit in walk-ins, but they have rescued me a couple of times when I have had issues on this side of town (busted hose, etc).Honest and fair. Highly recommended.

Very reliable and trustworthy, always trying to make car repair a positive experience that won't break the bank. Whitney is the face of th he business and is great. My only complaint was that they mostly just work on Japanese models (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc.). I would recommend them to anyone.

Very pleased with the work done to my vehicle. The cost of parts and service was very reasonable and I had my vehicle the very next day! Ronnie was courteous and professional and took the time to make sure I didn't just waste money on extra maintenance but only got done what was needed instead of just blowing it on more than what was necessary. Very trustworthy shop from my experience.

I have been using Virginia Import Services for more than 10 years. They are excellent. I absolutely trust their advice. Never had an issue with them. They are always busy so I usually have to make an appointment. Busy is a good sign.

Been using VA Import for over 20 years! Trustworthy. Now my grown daughters go here & I don't worry about them getting taken advantage of. I have had bad experiences with dealers trying to find things that need to be fixed when there was nothing wrong. That has never happened with Don & Whitney.

I am reposting a review that I previously posted over 2 years ago. Apparently my review and the other negative reviews have been removed since my last review. I am reposting because my experience was that of being taken advantage of and lied to. I took my 2000 Honda Accord here on two separate occasions due to a recommendation from a coworker. The first time was for an oil change and tire rotation. The service went as planned and was priced competitively for the area. My second time using this shop was for an oil change and to have the fan for the heater/air conditioner fixed. It was blowing very little air and was making a very loud buzzing noise. They told me that the fan motor was damaged, that the copper coils in the motor showed wear and that it would need to be replaced for a total cost of more than $200. I declined the service and took the car home. I opened up the fan which is located under the dash. The fan was completely filled with leaves and debris. It was so full that as soon as the fan was removed it went all over the floor of the car. I removed the debris and replaced the fan. The problem was solved. It was very clear that they did not actually look at the fan or investigate at all despite a lengthy story about what was wrong and why. I have virtually no knowledge of cars and didn't have adequate tools. The total time for me to perform this operation was approximately 15 -20 minutes. As I said before, this shop was recommended to me, but I would urge caution. I have full confidence that my particular case was not a misunderstanding or miscommunication. I discussed the problem at length with the mechanic and was lied to so that the shop could make a quick $200.

Today was my first visit. I was very pleased with their knowledge, desire to help, and correct diagnosis without during more work than needed. I spoke to a 10 year customer while waiting who shared their pleasure in working with Whitney and don. I plan to have my work done here in the future for my infiniti.

I am torn here, service and work on vehicle was fine. I did not feel as if they wanted to take advantage. But, one employee in particular was extremely rude to me in the parking lot. Down right mean in fact. For this and this alone I am posting a negative review. This is for the big bald guy with a gray beard. Work on the attitude my friend.

I've been using VIS for over 15 years now. Don uses the manufacturer's authenic parts for repairs, not cheap knockoffs. When I call them on the phone for an appointment, Whitney remembers what type of car I drive down to the make and model. I swear this guy must have a photographic memory. VIS keeps in touch with me through th repair process letting me know what need to be fixed and when it will be ready for pick-up. Their estimates are usually right on and sometimes even lower than expected. I certainly will not take my vehicles to any other garage.

Yeah, don't come here if you have a Honda go to wallace automotive they will treat you right plus they only work on Hondas ,I dropped off my honda civic 2004 hatchback si, to get the door handle fixed and the airbag sensor problem fixed and the key fab to work again. Come back to my door panel hanging off with no clips to hold it on what happened it was fine before,but now it's not how I left it.They wanted to tell me that's how it showed up bullshit, I argued with some service guy for like 10mins till I got him to fix my door panel and the passnager key fab still don't work, I was done with there bs and I spent $690 and they still can't do the job right. I just wanted my car back and get the hell out of there. Oh plus there was white paint marks on my black civic. Which means my car touched something else which I was pissed about. Plus my back seats where lowered down. And I had to reset the one touch window control my self . So if you own a Honda don't come here.
