Mr Carter is awesome & old school honest. He will not take advantage. My Grandpa Richard Green was his client for years. He knows his stuff. The best Team of Mechanics & Mr Carter is fair. He's been doing it for years. He's a rarity.

I couldn t ever expect to go to a mechanic and immediately trust everything they tell me what is truly needed to fix my wrecked truck! Mr. and Mrs. Carter are so kind and genuine I would never go anywhere else! I can sincerely tell anybody who needs absolutely anything done to their car to immediately go to their service station!Thank you very much for all of your help getting me back on the road!

I called for a service, owner who answered, showed genuine interest of what was wrong with my car. Good vibes came from him. He told me a time to come. Shop was busy but he kept his cool and told me he would get to me soon. Gave me a genuine answering, trustworthy off the back. Good report between owner and employees. Busy, but professional, shop experience. I would recommend to females looking for genuine shop experience,.Service: Wheel alignment

I have used this auto repair shop for repair/maintenance on both of my older model Mercedes Benz when I can't get to the MB dealer. The owner, V L Carter, and the employees are kind and professional. The prices are average/reasonable. As other Google reviews have mentioned, this is a very busy shop, so plan ahead if you need auto repair.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

Outstanding place. They took me in at 10AM as promise a day earlier. Even had time to replace my left headlight assembly unit. Had a leak on the original headlight unit. Took them less than an hour. Busy auto shop. Thanks

They worked on my compressor and I spent about $400 total. Less than a month later, I'm still having an issue with my air conditioning. They did some work for me before that which was a great job so I said let them again but we'll see how their customer service goes when there's a complaint

I will never take a vehicle back to this guy. He had my truck for a year without working on it and he let my truck get broken into multiple times. He's a scam and a con artist. Go somewhere else

Was one of the only auto shops in Richmond open on Sunday. Had a flat front tire with a nail in it, drove it in, a nice employee named George took care of us right away, removed the nail and patched it up within a half hour, only cost 18 bucks. Would recommend for tire work!

Very helpful and hospitable. Needed a tow to my mechanic shop. Arrived a little later than expected, but no biggie and got me to the shop in no time. Ray is awesome!

Im so grateful for VL Carter. Nobody else near me was open after 6 on a Sunday and my tire pressure was low. I ended up having a nail in my tire. George patched it up & had me on the road in less than 15 mins. Thank you. Great customer service. Whenever I am in town & need anything for my car I will be back.

I actually thought this place was ok to get repairs done. My second visit at this shop they told me I might have needed a new engine when in reality I just needed a water pump. Even if these guys were afraid my timing chain would slip I would have added the timing chain on to the bill not pay $4700.00 for a new engine. This city is full of people who scam. I was ready to invest 600 to $1000.00 bucks and they still want more smh.No one wants to spend a fortune on used cars but some of us will spare the right amount for good quality. I guess when they can't find nothing wrong with your car they tell you your engine is gone. My engine is at 99% accurate other mechanics told me I had a good engine. I hate how shop's like V.L. Carter scam on good customers.I wouldn't recommend you to do business with this shop!

Jim works here and he is the best diagnostic mechanic in Richmond so go there if you can't figure it out. Plus they tow. Tell em you'r Jim's friend and you could get a little off the towing, just a thought.

This place SUCKS. I give it a MINUS FIVE STARS. They more than took me for a ride. They charged me $159 for one tire and it was the wrong size. I was in a vulnerable position since I had driven to Virginia to escape Hurricane Irma and on my way back home my front left tire blew. V L Carter was my tow service and the driver suggested going to his shop instead of the AAA suggested shop. So we went to the VL Carter shop and bought an expensive tire we can't use. After returning home to Florida I had my tires checked out and was told they were all fine except the NEW TIRE which is the wrong size - its too big for my car and I need a new tire to replace it. $159 for a tire used all of one week. THIS PLACE SUCKS and CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. GO SOME WHERE ELSE. EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO WALK, YOU"LL BE BETTER OFF AND WILL STILL HAVE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET.

I was treated very well at v.l. carter tire and auto. In fact i have never been treated better anywhere. From the towing to my auto repair DAVID AND HIS TEAM WERE OUTSTANDING!!!! JOE MORGAN OF BOSTON MA. AND EVANS GA.

So, I had some trouble with my alternator a while back. Victor came out, towed my truck to his shop, replaced the alternator, and had it back in my parking lot the same day. He's a hell of a stand-up guy, and definitely my goto mechanic in Richmond these days.

I would not recommend this place. Took my car there to get a part replaced and got it back in worse condition. There is now a distinct squealing sound from the engine anytime the car goes above 20 mph. My tire pressure was 31 PSI which is slightly above the recommendations of the manufacturer and they filled them to 50 PSI before I got it back (and lectured me on how low they were). Just because a tire's max PSI is 55 DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD FILL IT THAT MUCH.
