This place would be five stars if it were based just on customer service, they have some really nice people in there. So that s what the two stars are for. However, they advised me I would have to go pay nearly a thousand dollars of body work (that s not required to pass) before I m able to get their $20 inspection. I recently had it inspected by VL Carter s in the same condition so I know it can be lifted unlike what they told me. Had VL kept it professional, I would have just went back there once I got the required work done to get it passed. Not only that, I ve had tires changed, which also require the car to be jacked up. But anyway, that s how I know it s untrue when they told me my car can t be lifted. So I left crying but at least the employees told me to have a good day! Again, good customer service.. with terrible timing at the end there.It seems that I get scammed/lied to everywhere I go when it comes to cars, even by the nice guys. My only option now is to go waste another Saturday (when I work 6 days a week to support my kids on my own while taking care of a terminally-ill grandfather) trying to get someone to do their job the right way or just retire the car & go back to walking/ubering with my 3 children. I still suggest you go here if you have a newer car, but for a used one, go elsewhere. They ll be nice to you regardless of their practices, though! I will give them that 100%!*I didn t go back to VL because they upped my repair prices unless there was quid pro quo. I thought I d have better luck elsewhere, which is not the case.*

I ve been coming to this location for a few years now. I met the new owner Jacob today, he and his team did an excellent job on the alignment of my car. He is professional, personable, and has a great sense of humor. I can tell this location is going to do great under his leadership. Highly recommend!

It seems like the ppl who took over are just as bad as the ppl who sold it. I went for an inspection and passed it i was supposed to pay $145 for inspection and oil change. I asked them how did it pass if theres something wrong with the brakes? the guy I spoke with said ok I ll have someone drive it and call you back. He called and said it s the hydraulics not the brakes and it ll cost $645. He called me back and said my guy told you the wrong thing you need special hydraulics it ll cost you $1174 and you can t pass without two new tires that ll be an additional $345. Ended up spending more than I could afford. My husband went for an oil change and now his work truck is messed up he s been out of work bc it isn t safe to drive. I have a pt cruiser that s been sitting for year now after I went there to the past owners for an oil change ended paying $2000 to have it fixed the car still keep cutting off while driving it. Mechanics are the worst scammers I just don t know who to trust.

The service was great, the staff was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I will definitely be taking my car to them for future car repairs. My mother was also pleased with their service.

This is the only place I will take my cars since its ownership changed. The owner, Jacob has been integral with every issue I bought to this location. This place may have had a bad reputation in the past, but it is definitely not my experience. I highly recommend!

I went to Tuffy s on this past Friday to get an oil change and the service was done promptly. All of the staff were welcoming and professional. I will be back for any needed further services.

Run, Run, Run...you've been warned...Reply: you don't regret to hear about my experience, I told the store Manager and Corporate what was done to my vehicle and the store Manager and Corporate acted like nothing occurred even with documented evidence. If your truly sorry, refund me my funds I paid and requested to be given back for a job poorly done that created more issues, which the store Manager and Corporate refused to pay. Don't just respond with some copied text response. Don't trust Tuffys or the Corporate office, they simply don't care. I really have to question what type of narcotics the mechanics use; because it appears that they use something, very low tier mechanics and customer service.

I couldn t take my car to my mechanic to have my tuneup done since they were already booked for today! My car was tested twice and I was told I needed new spark plugs. Well I made an appointment at this location on Azalea. They tried to charge me $700 plus dollars for a tune up which only costs $200 they connected my car to the diagnostics machine. Even though I told them I already had my car tested twice! I called my mechanic at Atlee Auto and was told to leave because they are trying to overcharge me! After I got off the phone they tried to get me to stay by lowering the price. I was charged for them doing the diagnostics even though I already told them I had my car tested twice. If you are a lady don t go here!!! They pray on us thinking we are stupid. THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF!!! Today s date is July 28, 2023. They have tried to rip-off the wrong lady this time!! I hope this place goes under! I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau!Service: Auto engine tuning

Don t go to location without mechanic or someone that know what they doing. They will scam you and tell you something other than what you came for. Cashier/manager Jennifer is a thief. I was charged for something that they didn t even work on. She is the worst manager in history. Also owner is a pain in the butox. He will make it seem as if he care and want to meet you and fix problem but really he is a scam artist also. Don t go to this location for nothing. Corporate services need to be involved immediately. It s not the customers at this point if several customers say Samething. They make automotive business look bad. Like why scam paying customers to continue on with business. Never again. Thank god my car did get fixed by professional services chevy dealership since they thought they was scamming me. Only went to them because other was booked for month. But never again and I will make sure none of my northside family go here. Bad business. Corporate please get involved because these reviews tell it all and it s not fair they are still open. Ramos owner is bad for business and also Jennifer that does paperwork and handles cash. Please get rid of them corp please.

I went here to get my state inspection done. There were a few things that needed to be fixed (brakes and wipers). They had to keep my car there over the weekend due to me originally dropping it off at the end of the day. I had no issue leaving it over the weekend as someone told me it'd be done on Monday. Monday rolls around and they are CLOSED! No one thought to inform me that they were closed for the holiday and I'd have to wait till Tuesday to get my car. On Tuesday I get a text message from them that my tire was slashed and they had installed 2 new tires on my car. The problem being that my tire was not slashed when I dropped it off and they hadn't caught that on the initial inspection. When we went in to see what was going on their worker, Romo, get very hostile, yelled in my boyfriends face, and charged me $100 more than what I was quoted. Will never go back!

I do NOT recommend taking your car here. If you do be ready to wait days longer than they tell you and have it not actually fixed. Also be careful they will try and make you pay for the fixed vehicle before it is actually fixed . Then have you to wait days for your still broken vehicle after they have your money. The whole process was extremely stressful and traumatic. Avoid this place at all costs.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance

I don t want to say Tuffy on 1005 Azalea Ave, Richmond, VA 23227 in general is a Scam but the guy at the front desk slick me in a fraudulent way into paying for a wheel check off simple question I asked. He never mentioned the price until after he didn t say anything about the name of this specific category until after, and told me he s not releasing my vehicle until after I pay $128.51 and told me that s not a lot of money as if we all have the same bank account. I WOULDN T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO COME HERE VERY UNTRUSTWORTHY AFTER SEEING THIS HAPPEN TO US .

Highly dont recommended this location. Warning dont go to this location. Look at other reviews and complaints for this location. Samething. Just different days the cashier Jennifer and workers will scam you. Also owner will not respect you. Dont let anybody at this location work on your car. Not even a tire change. They will make up and come up with anything to get more money or just more money and then will try to split the made up charge on what the problem is.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I left the car for inspection. Next day they called me said the car is ready! When I come to get a car they told me that they replaced front pads and rotors for $670. NO ONE WAS CALLING ME TO GET APPROVAL FOR THIS JOB!Absolutely ridiculous customer service.They left in my car a receipt when bought parts for me, so they bought pads and rotors for $77 and sold them to me for $328!!!Don't trust to them your car.

My son went to tuffys about a month ago went in to fix a leaking radiator sometime later it starts to leak again my son took his truck back and now they tell him that he nd a temperature case housing something to that affect when he calls them not only do they try to charge him to fix it but also tells him he nd a battery. We never asked for the battery to be checked nor did we ask for a y other serviceIt seems like they never fixed the problem in the first place. My son spent over eleven hundred dollars to fix the problem in the first place looks to me they never did any wrk at all. Then they told him they will get the part and he'll have to pay for labor? Really? So now when we go back I will be coming with legal counsel I refuse to be played bamboozled a d disrespected in any manner I refuse to come out of character for them . Instead I will let my lawyer do the talking and when I finish they are going to wish that that they took the time to really wrk on my son's truck. Not only are they not professional they are liars and cheat ppl out of their money. When I get through and if it gets dwn to it I will stand outside their business and let every customer walking in if the have money to burn and like to be bamboozled then they came to the right place!! I will never do business them again, I will not nor will I ever recommend any body to that shop. Ever!!!!!

I had went to here to get a magnaflow muffler that I had bought to be put on. I dropped it off and left. 20 minutes later I get a call with my quote of 346.97 to have a muffler that I provided put on the truck. I declined the service because that is a crazy number for a service that involves at most 2 hours of labor and $20 worth of supplies. I came back to pick up my truck and after I had come back a employee said he could do it for $250 now your saying you can do a lower price after I had already come back? I still declined and tried to get him to do it for $200. He then began to explain that it comes with a lifetime warranty but on the estimate it says 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. He said that it would be installed correctly by a professional. Is this how professionals take care of their customers? I was then given a bill of $20 for a inspection fee. I didn t like it but I paid it just to be done dealing with it. I then walked out and realized my truck had not even been moved from the spot that I had parked it in. What is this 20$ fee for? Walking out to look at it real quick?Service: Exhaust

I took my car in for an oil change and to find out what was rattling under the car. When I picked the car up I didn't notice right away but when the old oil change sticker was removed so was my parking pass for my apartment complex. I spoke with the owner directly and he denied that I ever had one and refused to fix the problem. Several times I have been lied to about what my car needs and what was actually done. I will never give them my business ever again.

This place said they'd patch my son's tire during his trip. They got him back on the road quickly, but put a screw-in plug instead of a patch. The tire was leaking the next day. He wanted me to drive the vehicle from SC back to Richmond for the repair instead of refunding the repair cost. He also charge $35 for the repair, which is ridiculous for a plug. Pics are attaced. Thanks to Black's Tire Service for cleaning up their sub-standard work.

I went for inspection and they told me my ball joints had to be replaced I had to take it somewhere else and the boat joins were good

Very friendly, warm staff. Sam at the desk was a delight and she was very helpful in giving me all options. Brad worked on my vehicle and showed me where I needed a valve during my oil change. I got an oil change and new tires. Their work is well done and time efficient. I will continue to use this Tuffy for my auto needs! Thank you Guys for making car stuff a little less painful

So Friday I called around to numerous auto shops and no one could get me in until next week! I called Tuffys and they told me to bring it in now, so I did they looked at it right away and had it fixed the same day! The customer service is outstanding Brittany was soooo helpful! So yesterday my car starting shaking again so I took it back and again Brittany went out her way to make sure she could do what she can for me! It was expensive but convenient so it was worth it for me! They got everything straight for me and I am highly satisfied with this company!!! Several years ago I purchased a Car Care Club card through Tuffy Auto Service centers at this location and paid $100 for the service card. Part of this service card included 4 oil changes. I went in this morning to have an oil change done, and the owner of this business said he would not honor this service card. He explained that he bought the business in 2020, and that the card was purchased from the previous owner of the business. He said that he did not want to take on this expense that the previous owner had incurred. I pointed out to him that the card had no expiration date and was under the umbrella name of "Tuffy Auto Service Center". I also pointed out that I was a customer that had brought in my 2 vehicles since 2017 and did he really want to lose a customer over not honoring an oil change. He again said he would not honor it. As I walked out the door, he offered a 10% discount. I just kept walking.In my opinion, 1) he should have honored theTuffy Service card irregardless of when I bought it, and 2) it makes better business sense to not dispute a $30 oil change instead of losing a valued customer.This was a lose-lose situation for both!

The people here are great! I went there to get a few things fixed so my car could pass inspection. The dealership was charging WAY more than necessary (standard issue), and these guys beat the price and did a great job! The manager Rob is really personable and definitely tries to go above and beyond for the customer. Definitely an honest business and I didn't feel ripped off (lots of mechanics prey on females thinking we no nothing about cars smh). I'd come to this Tuffy over any of the other! Great service at a great price!

Tried to charge me over $500 to replace my thermostat. I called around and found that most mechanics would charge me half the price. When I refused the service over the phone, they became very rude and insisted I pay over $119 for "diagnostic." ( The price for diagnostic changed three times while I was speaking to the owner.) The new owner laughed in my face and told me he was the best technician in Richmond. NOT EVEN CLOSE. DO NOT GO HERE. My entire family has used this location for over 5 years. NO MORE!

By far the worst auto repair shop I've ever used. I was charged for services i did not approve and was told all repairs would be completed in one day. I waited 3 days in a row and wthe car would be finished and had to continue to leave my car there at closing time. Overall very unprofesional service for more reasons then I have time to list. If you value your time and hard earned money then don't have your car serviced here.

They not professional at all, they raise the price $400 after they said they fix my car and was some parts missing of my car they said we don t know about , my car got even worse i found out they just cleaned some hoses and replaced nothing, be careful if dealing with them

I went in for my state inspection. The staff was professional, timely, and friendly. The work required to pass inspection was completed within an hour. I was also provided with suggestions for some tune-ups based on what they found during the inspection. The man who helped me, Rob, even called me to let me know I left my water bottle behind. Overall, the most pleasant experience I have had at an auto shop!
