I took my car here to see if I actually had transmission problems. As I entered I was seen coming in but ignored. I saw a mechanic standing across the floor from me on the work floor staring at me as he blew his nose onto the floor and he then wiped his nose with his hand and sleeve. Another gentleman drove my car and came back to say my transmission was bad and it would cost $5000 to fix. I left to get a second opinion from another transmission shop only to find out I had a misfire on cylinder 8.... Not sure why they tried to get me for my whole check but I was very disappointed. At the time of my visit, two people came in to bring their car back because they needed to correct a problem that they had caused .. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

From the owner & his son down to the mechanics you feel like your getting good treatment and service on your vehicle. They also keep you updated on any other issues that they've come across! Highly recommend them!

Stan and his team did a fantastic job trying to help with a difficult transmission repair on an older vehicle that had been improperly rebuilt by a different shop. They went to extra expense and time to try to track down everything needed to do the job right and get our vehicle back on the road and didn't ask for additional reimbursement for it. I had a great experience with these folks and can't provide a stronger recommendation for their service. Fantastic!Service: Transmission

Nobody looks forward to their transmission needing replaced, having repairs performed correctly and at a fair price can be a crapshoot. After reading reviews I chose Cottmans to replace the transmission in my 2016 GMC Sierra. The work was finished ahead of schedule. I did have to take my truck back the next week, not for transmission work but to have the a/c condenser replaced (I couldn't hear the transmission shift over my girlfriend complaining about the a/c not working), like the transmission work, a/c works like new. Every nut, bolt. and clip were reinstalled, you can tell the mechanic didn't rush through the job and take shortcuts. After about 2000 miles the transmission performs flawlessly as does the a/c. Only thing worse than your transmission going out would be having to go to battle with a shop that took your money and didn't stand behind their work. I feel blessed that I chose Cottmans and would definitely recommend them to anyone.Services: Transmission, Air conditioning

Saved a lot of money having my car maintained at Cottman transmission. They did not try to sell me anything I did not need.and the work they did was always done right the first time. More trustworthy than the dealership and the loss leader oil change companies. I know I have added years of life to my Versa from following the Nissan's recommended maintenance schedule and by having Cottman's do the work. I would continue to bring my car to them if I still lived in Virginia but I moved to Florida.

Love Stan & the guys at Cottman's Auto! Super friendly and are more interested in customer loyalty than they are squeezing every penny out of you. Just this past week I brought in my car because of a squealing sound it was making under the hood. Turns out all that was needed was a belt tightening, which took them less than a minute to fix. They decided not to charge me at all for it. I recommend them to anyone having car issues!

If you want a elegant waiting room, hot coffee, donuts & courtesy WiFi this place is not for you. If you want an honest assessment, transmission replaced/repaired & an owner/staff who stand behind their work then Cottman is the place for thee. Only reason I m not giving 5 stairs is because of some trash/loose change left in my car. Not a huge deal because I took my car there for transmission replacement not detailing.

Awesome customer service. They thoroughly assessed my cars transmission and were up front on repair estimate and accuracy of costs for the repair were on target. Work was completed ahead of schedule.The follow up warranty work and received two years later was just as professional and everything was taken care of

Great experience. The transmission on my Hyundai died and I was not satisfied with the service from the dealer (which charged $75 and kept me waiting for three hours to tell me what I already knew -- that the transmission was gone). Stan diagnosed it 15 minutes, gave me a price and a timetable for the repair and delivered $100 under his quote.

These guys were great and worked with me a couple of projects. Reasonably priced and prompted. Had an issue about 10 months into it and they took care of it ASAP no questions and no problem. Stand behind their work. Would highly recommend2005 Silverado

Just got my car back after 3 weeks to a month from transmission rebuild and ac and mirror replaced. Transmission still slipping , ac still don t work and mirror wasn t glued back up. Plus I paid almost $3,000. I demanded that they fix it or give me my money back!!! Stan from New Jersey hung up. I called him back and got him straight. I will get car fixed or money back!!!Service: Transmission

I had such a good experience with cottmans. Our car broke down because of needing a new transmission and we towed it there, they did a diagnostic for free and then personally gave us a ride home. We couldnt afford to fix it but everything was free and they had no problem it stayed in their lot for a few days. Again, everything was free! And Stan and his father were comforting and great during the whole experience. I recommend them indefinitely. Thank you cottmans.

Stopped by because of transmission questions and Stan checked fluid level, added 2 1/2 quarts, put truck up on lift, cleaned transmission pan and looked for leaks, then scheduled me back for recheck for fluid leak next week. Also showed me guts of a transmission & explained how they worked. All for no charge and no wait !! I will be back for sure !Service: Transmission

My Experience has been very bad, I will never go to the Cottman Transmission Service center on Midlothian Turnpike , Richmond Virginia.I brought my vehicle in to have the front wheel bearings replaced and an oil change. Not to get hit with a bill for $1700.00 to replace my transfer case on my 2002 Toyota Sequoia, When there was nothing wrong with it when I brought in.. I do not recommend this place to take your vehicle in for ant repairs. I do not give this place any stars, I had to give it one so I can post this review.

As I was traveling from PA to NC, my car decided to initiate the transmission self-destruct option in the middle of downtown Richmond. I had no idea what to do, so I started calling transmission shops to see what they could do. After speaking to a few kind of shady shops, I found these guys. I got it towed there and got a rental to continue on my way to NC. While there, they kept in constant communication with me. They found a used transmission to put in my car but I decided I would probably just end up scrapping the car. So I got a uhaul and tow dolly and headed back to pick it up. They went out of there way to help me put the car on the dolly. I am thankful I found this shop while stranded in an unfamiliar place. I hope to never have this issue again, lol, but if I found myself stranded in or near Richmond VA again, without hesitation, I ll take my car here.

My dad took my car here to have a clutch replacement. After a couple days a called the store asking when they thought it would be done. I was told it was going to take a week, and that they hadn't pulled the transmission yet. Two days later my dad called telling me the car was ready. When I get there I told them the year, make, and model the guy then responds with " it's not ready" I told him my dad call me and told me to come pick the car up he then goes in to the shop and asked the mechanic about my car. He come back and tells me it ready. He's goes to the back to grab my keys. When he got back he hands me the keys to a Corvette. I thought this was very unperfessional. However they did do a good job the the actual repair.

Good hardworking group of guys, took time to explain everything I needed to know, charged a fair price and didn't complain about my car taking up lift space when I ran into unexpected problems getting parts. Got the job done fast and right the first time once everything came in. I hope I never have another job I can't do myself (especially a bad transmission) but if I do I got the number on speed dial.

Where you get a fair shake very honest person Mr Cottman, if it's nothing wrong he will not charge he's very fair person and he do a good job, when Needed very good prices I highly recommend him to anyone who need a car checked out and need work done.
