Awful experience. I have never felt so scammed out of a place.I came here because my dashboard lights were going out. When I told the man at the frontdesk(named Kevin) he started throwing numbers at me before even telling me what the prices were for. I had to slow him down to even get what these numbers were gonna pay for. He said that it was for an electric diagnostic and it would cost about $150.00. I felt like it was a steep price just to find out what was wrong with the lights and not fix them, but I went ahead and got the service. I asked Kevin if this service would tell me what's wrong with my lights and he said yes. Well after waiting for about 45 mins he came back to tell me that it wasn't the fuses and to do anymore looking he would need an extra $200.00. I was appalled. I was told that for $150.00 they would tell me what was wrong but now I'm being told that it's going to take another $200.00 dollars, not to fix it, but just to find out what's wrong? I knew right then that this whole thing was a scam. I told Kevin to give me my car back. I still had to pay the 150.00 and when I looked at my invoice it didn't even say 'electric diagnostic' it said 'dash lights not working check and advice'. Makes me wonder how much of that 150.00 was the so-called 'advice'. Cause the only advice I received was a guy trying to fast talk me into giving him more money.And to top it all off, they erased my oil/tire rotation sticker from firestone that indicated when I needed them changed. I actually ended up just going to firestone where they fixed my lights for the $350.00 price that big ol tire was trying to get out of me just to find the problem. Never come here. Ever.Overall the worst experience I have ever had in any store. Whenever I come across someone looking for a car mechanic I'll tell them to avoid this place like the plague.

Very disappointed, they said the fuel pump is not working, replaced it, but they spoiled the tank level reading meter while doing so. I we asked them to fix the issue they caused, they do not want to bring it back to how it was working properly before they open it. I am not using this shop anymore.

Very disappointed my bf took my new truck up to have two front tires takin off and put two new tires on that we just got and they messed up the rim asking him if he noticed the rim was peeling and I had just washed that truck and my rims were not liked that at all . That comes from rushing and being careless and still charge him 70 dollars. beware when going to this place and inspect your wheels and rims before leaving.Update 10//24/2023 still not happy manager Kevin who called me last Thursday and said they use a taped weight and water and soap so if that s the case way did my paint peel not evinateden tring to resolveissue dealing with customer relations also I have pictures of rim but Google won t let me add them. And I get a call from manager Kevin this morning saying he left me a message but I haven t talk to him since last Thursday nor had I received a phone call .. so this morning he calls and says that the rim had been painted over and that was his opinion but also admitted to using brake cleaner to clean rims and weights so if he deals with tires then u know u don t use brake cleaner on paint that isn t silicone which can cause paint to peel and u don t use brake cleaner that is non chlorinated on aluminum rims either, which causes paint to peel. His resolution is to keep vehicle for a day and have his guy to fix rim. I asked how is he gonna fix he said paint it needless my boyfriend and are not happy about this since this is who messed up the rim in the first and will possibly seek legal counsel.

They are soooo good!Friendly and honest! They changed my tires and did the state inspection. Price is also affordable. The staffs are friendly and helpful, I highly recommend!

Obviously got tires changed here. The mechanics over inflated the back tires causing one of them to explode while on 95. They said the warranty doesn't cover their wrong doing and acted if it was the manufacture fault.

What a great team there: they all get along so well. The environment is like one big happy family. They fit me in when West Broad Kia wasn't able to: I needed a new tire and was going out of town. I will definitely be returning. Despite the name, they do more than sell tires. I thought the pricing was fair, especially the labor cost.

I called Big O Tires on West Broad Street (RVA) this morning to see if I could get my vehicle inspected. Per the manager Kevin, informed me that he could get my vehicle inspected today. Let me tell you!!!! Big O Tire was soooo clean and the manager, Kevin, was so polite! Mr. Kevin got me in and out in no time! I really appreciate your business Mr. Kevin! Spent over 1k on 4 new tires. Tires are fine. I asked them to inspect the vehicle (the reason I was getting tires) and they told me they would try but may not have time. I had a prescheduled appointment. They did not do the inspection - in spite of the fact that the car was on a lift for 2 plus hours while someone went to get the tires (its a car with 30k miles on it, a VA inspection would literally take like 10 minutes). Additionally, they left my rims and new tires covered in grease. Not a huge deal, but when you spend that kind of money on something you expect the little things to be done.

Matt provided excellent customer service. Explained everything with detail. He even went above and beyond and found some quarters so my toddler could get candy from the candy machine. Also the place is very clean even the bathroom! Well done!

From the moment I walked through the door there was a warm welcome from the front desk assistant who quickly helped with my problem. The mechanics gave warm welcomes as well. The shop moved quickly to resolve my battery issues and I was in and back out on the road in less and 30 minutes. Not only did my issue get checked and resolved; the shop checked out everything else under the hood to make sure my car was in great shape! I appreciate the kindness of this great crew! Will definitely be coming back.

I had to get my mom's car inspected and I ended up needing some work done. The staff were more than happy to explain the details of what needed to be done, plus they were patient and understanding when I had questions and when I needed to discuss everything with my parents prior to getting the repairs. I ended up making an appointment a few days later and was in and out within a few hours.There's a nice little waiting area with couches and also they have one of the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen. They were super friendly and easy to work with, and they even remembered me when I called to make the appointment. It's the little things :) Overall experience was great and I'd definitely go back again!

10/09/2019.....Review given about 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard from the business owner like the response stated I would!!!!!!I gave a review 2 years ago, which at that time, this was a great place to go. I told everyone at work and family and friends that this was a trustworthy place to take your vehicle.. My father has been there three times within a month and a half with the same exact issue after spending nearly $2,000 to find out from all people, the inspector there, that it was one small part that was only needed, again after spending nearly $2,000. He tried to get it inspected today and it failed from another service station because he no longer trust Tuffy. What failed the inspection should have been caught by Tuffy mechanics because they had their hands near every bit of it. Now there's an additional $800 needing to be paid out to get the car inspected, again, from a different place. I truly believe the management there gets paid a commission on the amount of money the location brings in on any given day. I feel this place will rip you off if you have any major issues with your vehicle. if you need the occasional oil change this may be the place to take your car. They have too many young guys working here that when they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my father's vehicle, they had to go ask the inspector, who has been around the block enough to know what was wrong with my father's car. Also, when you get into your vehicle after the work has been performed you will find oil/grease on your seats and your door. This location has certainly gone downhill within the past 2 years. My father even called and talked to Mr. Tuffy and still hasn't heard anything back from that conversation. So this should tell you when the owner doesn't care about your experience you should not go there.

Needed a state inspection and when I walked in, the service advisor was quick to get all my info. Within 5 mins, my vehicle was in the bay. Within 40 mins I was walking to the counter to pay!!!! Very efficient, very friendly, very knowledgeable!!!!! I will be coming here from now on!!!!!!!!!Thanks again for the pleasant experience!!!!!

I went here today to have my car inspected. I expected a pretty long wait but they got my car pulled in within like 5 minutes. Everybody was super nice and friendly and the inspector even came out to personally tell me my car passed. The manager even took care of the cost of my inspection. Love this place, will definitely be back. Thanks Jose and Andrew!

Excellent service. I appreciate their attention to details and how they make you feel like family. Their fees are very reasonable compared to other repair shops. They saved me over $1500.00 on one repair. I have three daughters and have their cars serviced there. I especially appreciate how they don't focus on charging you a lot for diagnosing problems. Other shops want at least $125.00 just to hook you car up to their machine. Tuffy seems more interested in building relationships than charging large fees.

If I could give this place a zero, I would. Don't trust the reviews. Come in for basic work and they will send a text to you requesting a google review. They sent me one even after I left being very upset. I'm guessing most of these reviews are for oil changes and inspections. Long story short, these guys are a total rip off and completely dishonest. I would get a different version of "truth" from the employee than I would from the manager, Jose, who was a total jerk and obviously tried to hide things from me. I paid $1,000 for work on my car only to leave the shop 3 separate times with new issues I never had before. So many excuses, it's unreal. Issues they didn't even want to explain until I caught them. My car was making an awful noise after I got it from them. Come to find out it was missing a part, which they ended up finding on the floor the next day. The new parts they got had "issues." They broke my oil cap as well and didn't bother telling me. My car smoked after the oil change for hours. They overfilled the transmission fluid. Had to put the struts (2 different sets) on my car 4 times because there were issues with missing parts, rattles, etc. After dealing with them for days and multiple "we've fixed it," only to have issues immediately after driving off the lot, they put a new tech on it who got rid of the noise. They were adamant that I needed some brake work that they estimated at like $600. I passed and I'm glad I did. I just took it to my regular shop to check over everything and they said there were absolutely no issues with my brakes. I feel like I wasted $1,000. If you care about honesty, good work and fair pricing, DON'T GO HERE.

They did a fantastic job! Service was quick and convenient. We always stop in whenever we need something simple and get good prices on the more expensive things. I don't know much about cars and the technical terms but they explain it in a way that I can understand. My husband always tells me, "have Tuffys check it out". I feel comfortable being there and there's zero creep factor.

My experience with Tuffy was amazing! My car wouldn't start late Friday evening when every place was CLOSED. I had to get my car towed home and find a place to fix my car on a Saturday without an appointment since my regular mechanic is closed on the weekends and requires an appointment. I called Tuffy and spoke with Andrew on Saturday morning. He told me to have it towed in and it didn't get there until 11:30 and they were closing at 4:00 p.m. They were able to fix my car and had it ready at 3:00 p.m. Jose and Andrew were very helpful, respectful, friendly, and gave fair pricing! I would recommend this location and will use them again!

John and his team are amazing very kind people. We took our vehicle to Tuffys for inspection and he fixed everything in a timely manner and for a great price. Will defiantly be back. They sure know how to make repeat customers. Great customer service.

I'd been using Tuffy, off-and-on, since 2015 and had extremely pleased with my service. The staff member who answered the phone was courteous when I called today to check on availability for an oil change. There was no wait when I arrived; they saw my car right away, explained what they were doing and how long it was going to take, and never pressured me to buy anything I didn't need. A great experience all around!

My car is 15yrs old and has only been to the dealership. I was having issues and didn't want to pay dealership prices, so I decided to check out Tuffy. I am so happy that I did. It was the Saturday before Christmas when I took my car in and they told me I needed a catalytic converter and new front brake pads. I asked if they could fix it that day and they did, they even stayed a little extra to get my car done. They also didn't charge me an arm and a leg to fix it. My car is now fixed, for a reasonable price, and I am so grateful! She runs almost like new! Everyone is so nice and explained things to me, and didn't charge me for things I didn't need. I will be bringing my car back here from now on. Thanks guys!!!!

I had an amazing experience with this location! I called ahead to make sure they had the tired I needed. I got there and my tire was put on within 30 minutes of me getting there. All the employees were extremely nice to me. The waiting room was super clean. If you need a ride quick, definitely go to this place. You will not be disappointed. Customer service was impeccable!!

I came to Tuffy when my first car shop told me I needed a new muffler but they couldn't do the work. Tuffy gave my car a free once over to check it out and determined that it wasn't the muffler at all. They were quick and incredibly informative. I felt super comfortable as a first time customer and they were great about explaining in plain terms what I needed done as I nothing about cars.

DO NOT GO to any Richmond area Tuffy, especially this one. They cannot be trusted. I was overcharged (by hundreds of dollars) for repairs and maintenance they said had to be performed ASAP (without much further explanation) and forced to pay for services they advertised as free. They also performed another service which made the car drive much worse than before. All this happened on the same visit. I went back and complained, then called the office, but no one ever gave me any refund although I had been going there for years and the owner's sister confirmed they did rip me off. She also said they would fix my car but she rescheduled on several occasions, and then simply stopped calling me back. No explanation provided. Need more reasons? The atmosphere and customer service is horrible. It appears someone started renovations but never completed them and the staff curses, listens to inappropriate music very loudly, and has a general disrespect. As if that isn't enough, I went somewhere else to get my car inspected and just so happened to meet someone who said he left Tuffy because they are dishonest.

I have been a Tuffy customer for over a year with only a few minor problems. I recently went to this location to have work done that was already quoted to me. When I left, I got .2 miles down the road before breaking down. For the next week I experienced deterioration in my car's condition. Tuffy representative Alex insinuated that I blamed them for not performing the work correctly after returning the car for further inspection when I stated the car didn't feel safe to drive. In their care the car stopped working. I towed it elsewhere and they found that my engine was destroyed. I paid them nearly $700 to ruin my car. I can't afford an engine or a new car at that, and they want to make me jump through hoops to PROVE they had anything to do with it rather than help me.I hope they enjoy my money, I'll enjoy not having transportation.
