Upon being taken to the hospital in an ambulance for COVID-19 and double pneumonia I needed transport home which a doctor told me was no problem and had not been a problem in the past. On this occasion, I had to wait in the ER overnight for transportation while very ill. I was left with no call bell, no water, and no way to use the bathroom. It took at least 10 hours to pick me up. A month or two later, I was rushed back to the ER and upon needing transport home was told no one wouLd take me. If they took me I would need to pay out of pocket and it would be very expensive. Then I was basically discharged and nudged to leave. I am bedridden and cannot walk at all. I have no way in my home at this point. I paid my bill online and they still sent it immediately to collections. It was a quite expensive bill and I still cannot get a person on the phone. Many things about the medical system is failing, but this was very difficult. To be left sick and helpless with no way home from the hospital. I am a retired teacher and a mother. I am a human. I deserve better.
