What an awesome place! I broke down heading back to my home in VB. Called and spoke to the nicest gentleman who let me get my Jeep towed there and fixed for such an awesome price. He was honest and didn t rip me off which is such a great thing to see in a auto shop. He had my Jeep up and running in no time and at such a great cost. Will always have my business from now on for big fixes!

I've been coming to Jim and Scott's since I moved out here a few years ago. They have fantastic customer service and great turn around time. I won't take my cars anywhere else.

Took my truck in for an inspection, ended up having a bad part, Scott gave me a quote to fix the issue with a very reasonable price. Got the work done and was very pleased with the customer service and quick turn around time! My Truck drives much better! they also recommended me keeping a higher amount of air in my front tires as they were wearing down on the outside. Very Knowledgeable folks and very happy with my experience at Jim & Scott'sI highly recommend this place for anyone !

We were on our way back to Ohio and our exhaust pipe broke. They were the only auto shop to take us in for a quick fix and they didn t charge us for the fix. They said to put however much we thought it would cost in the collection basket at church on Sunday. Super sweet people and highly recommend them.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

Check engine light came on and the car started rumbling. Came in to their shop and they helped us right away, despite being closed on the weekend! I highly recommend this shop for any future service needs. They were able to quickly diagnose the issue, and get us back on our road trip quickly. That being said, I wouldn't recommend going to a closed shop.

My friend (who just happens to be a black man) was experiencing car trouble this past Monday, so he decided to stop by and ask for help during business hours. The owner called the police on him for no reason at all. I guess he s afraid of black men with dread locks or something. I definitely would not recommend anyone to use this business, especially if you happen to be a person of color.

I brought my car in for a state inspection yesterday. I knew a headlight was out so I purchased one and asked them to replace the bulb while doing the inspection ($20). When I went to pick up the car I was given a bill of $111. Without informing me of the results of the inspection and the cost they proceeded with charging me $38 to replace the bulb which should have taken at most 10 minutes, then an additional $35 to adjust the headlights and another $15 to replace a faulty license plate bulb. All of this without asking for my permission in advance. I feel swindled and will never bring my vehicle here again and would tell others to beware!

At 4:30pm yesterday, during your normal business hours, a man approached your place of business to ask about a can of gas for his malfunctioning vehicle. You told him to go to the gas station. He did so after waiting on a ride from a friend. When he got back, you had called police on him because he was "a suspicious person". I can only assume that had to do with his skin color and look. I'll have you know, that man is a veteran, and an honorable man. He was one of my soldiers once and I would trust him with my life. You treated him wrong. It will not be excused. Please explain yourself.

Unless you only need the basics done like oil changes and inspections. I would bypass this shop. They definently dont want to do anything that requires actual knowledge or hard work. We have taken 2 vehicles here. One for cutting off and one for other issues. The first car they basically told us they dont know what's wrong. Keep driving it and if it does it again bring it back. They didnt even try looking at it. I was also told well you dont want to pay me to have to drive the car around until it does it again. Nooo what I expect is for you to do your job. The 2nd vehicle. They were told specifically it was the catalytic converter. They did some other stuff to it instead. Picked the truck up. It had the same issue. Took the truck right back. Was told they dont know what to do with it and we were told to come pick it up. not sure how this shop makes any money bc they definitely dont deal with the big issues. It was clear in both instances that they just couldnt very bothered. When someone brings in a vehicle and tell you exactly what's wrong with it and they are certain..then maybe you should liste .

We were headed to the beach and had car trouble. Jim made us a priority with great service, fair prices and quickly ordered parts to get us back on the road for vacation with my family and 2 kids, 5 and 5 months

Hello, good morning. I have been told that you worked on the chassis of the old Monaco and I would like to ask you some questions. I am writing to you from Spain. Is there an email to write to you?

These guys are super honest, and know exactly what they're talking about. They'll make binding estimates, they're not the local good ol' boy with an unintelligible accent (heck, I speak Redneck from the other side of the Blue Ridge, VA born and bred, and the rednecks here are still hard to follow) and a penchant for ripping off everyone who comes by who doesn't look like they could be fixing their cars themselves, but don't have the time to do it right this second.Seriously. I don't like much about living in NKC -- I'm here only until I can find the right place in a real city, and only because of a peculiar set of circumstances that left me just the wrong side of Henrico County. But still, if I lived in Henrico on the East Side, I'd drive to Providence Forge for Jim and Scott. That's right, Jim and Scott. Glenn left, some time ago. I think they're all brothers; the local good ol' boys weren't too helpful. But Glenn left, Scott took his place, and I'm coming here for quick repairs. If I need a serpentine belt changed, I'm taking it to a mechanic friend who lives across the river. But to find such great mechanics, so quickly, and so nearby my residence (relatively speaking), is incredible. Every time I've moved before this has resulted in one shyster mechanic causing more harm than good in mucking about the engine compartment before I found a trustworthy guy. These guys are gold. Car Talk is just two D___ Yankees laughing wicked obnoxious at each othas "jokes" -- when Jim and Scott retire, they ought to take over the gig. They're actually funny, and you might actually get more than 2 calls on in an hour that's about 45 minutes of snorting laughter.I do love Car Talk, but these guys are such Platonic ideals of the Honest Mechanic! And, should you not speak good ol' boy, they speak normal English, too. They will try and save you money. I will gladly go out here from Richmond to have work done, just because they're such a jewel. These guys are great. Are you reading, NPR?Now just fix the title, Google: I bet Scott feels left out! He does good work, he deserves to be acknowledged.Anyways, you live near here? Here's your mechanics. Bing, Bang, Boom.

Had a friend who had car trouble and stop by to ask for some help but instead had cops called on him for being black I guess. Wouldn't spend my money with them!
