My 2019 Freightliner Coronado 122SD got the dreaded DD-15 Engine Fault Code (SPN-3720, FMI-15), DPF Ash Canisters Cleaning Request, while dropping a trailer in Norfolk, VA. I was a long ways from home and needed a Repair Facility, before my Engine Derated. After making numerous local inquiries and reading Google Reviews, I chose Western Branch Diesel-Portsmouth, VA. I was very impressed by Shelly s (Service Advisor) professionalism and honesty, while walking me through their Repair Process and Associated Costs and Timing. Shelly was upfront on determining the Cause and Effect, for my Engine Fault Code numerous possibilities. She kept me updated on all aspects, of my Trucks Repair Status (Outside Services, Parts, Labor, Timing, etc..). My trucks repair s were primarily assigned to Jeff (Technician). Jeff introduced himself to me and gave me a quick overview of the Repair Steps, generally used for this Fault Code. The entire organization played a pivotal role, in getting my Truck Back In-Service ! I can t say enough good comments and Thank You s, to this Facility and its Employees. I highly recommend this Organization, if: Communications, Honesty, Technical Knowledge, Pricing, Parts, Labor, Costs and Timing, are important to you.

What a fantastic group at the shop. We are in town to fish the largest marlin tournament on the East Coast. Had some issues with one of our Detroit diesels and these folks went out of their way to make sure that we got what we needed to get back in service. Called a couple of other shops, and no knowledge at all on the other end of the line. Five minutes into the phone call I knew I had found the right place drove over got all the parts I need it and put us back in service. Even went as far as to manufacture a part on site for us. Thank you again and I will let you know if we catch a big fish tomorrow.

As no place is perfect, and no way to please everyone. I will be bringing my 2016 in for work in the next couple of weeks. I had a great experience when they worked on my after treatment system. It was also pretty fast service. 100 times better than Freightliner dealer in town

I come here frequently to pick up parts for my husband who has a Freightliner with a DD15 Engine in her. The staff is always willing to go above and beyond to help me. Whether it's figuring out what parts or loading up my truck, the customer service is always great!

Thank you Rick, Shawn, Aaron and Bret and Cory, and the whole Portsmouth WBD marine crew!! Thanks also to Jimmy and his Salty Creek yard crew.WBD was busy with big jobs when we showed up unannounced sniveling about our vacation being spoiled 'cause our little boat broke. WBD met us at a local marina when they said they would at noon on a Wednesday, diagnosed the IPS failure, scheduled and managed haul out at their facility, finished the repair and launched us on our way by Friday afternoon! They kept us informed of progress the whole time. WBD's professionalism, teamwork with the yard, and empathy with our plight made the whole problem just go away!And we now know who the go-to guys are for Volvo IPS issues. We had similar great service from Scott and Dustin and the WBD crew in Beaufort, NC, earlier this summer with an unrelated IPS code. On the weekend before July 4th, I was referred to WBD by a local diesel guy in Oriental who couldn't solve our problem. I called their number on a Saturday and Rick answered from Portsmouth. Rick hooked me up with Dustin in Beaufort on Sunday morning and he walked me through diagnosing the problem and a plan to get us home.To all of the WBD team, your responsiveness to the customer and attention to technical detail are unsurpassed in this industry. Thanks for being there!1/29/2020: Oh You! collided with a submerged object in the Scuppernong River channel, near Columbia, NC. I emailed Rick and Shawn, and they evaluated the situation and recommended we contact WBD in Beaufort. We did, and the rest is just a blur as Scott and Dustin in Beaufort took care of everything -- despite the pandemic! Thanks again, WBD, for consistently superb professional service. 6/10/2020: Oh You! is back home, over her ordeal and ready for the season. (See my review in Active Captain for details.)

Very professional and knowledgable. Assisted with an RV issue on a spartan chassis. We were in an out the same day. Great service manager and experienced staff. Highly recommended.

Along with some very other expensive repairs (engine overhaul and more) I asked to have my air dryer replaced. The one they installed was as bad as the old one. I brought it back and they replaced it again with the same results. When I brought it back again they claimed I was just being too picky and sent me away. About a year later I brought my truck in for an overhead. As part of the job, they did a courtesy inspection. THEY SAID my air dryer needed to be replaced. I said BINGO and pointed towards they had did the job previously. They STILL refused to honor the warranty even after they pointed out to me the part they installed was defective.

Service team got me back up and running quickly and the Parts Dept. was friendly and helpful. All around good experience for me and the service I needed on my semi truck.

Portsmouth, Va Location.They worked fast in my 2007 Freightliner Business Class.They charged good money.The mechanics left screws lose that eventually came off from the new air compressor, that caused a breakdown less than a month from that $1600 repair at this shop, that also damaged a metal pipe, truck stranded on the road at 2 am with a load. Road service on holiday charged $961.00I tried 3 times (email and phone) the person in charge of that location and he never got back to me, I tried at least for 3 weeks to get in touch w/ manager of Portsmouth location.Finally I called the central number, Mr. Tom Hug (Ashland Location) got back to me and assured me that they would send a check with the $901.00 as warranty for the lose air compressor and the damaged that it happened because of that.Pros: Mr. Tom Hug integrity, he was polite-got back to me with apologies. Warranty of service.Cons: WB Diesel Portsmouh manager too busy or too dishonest. Pricy place. Mechanics fail to do a decent job.

I will not go into details why I gave this company one star but I will never go back to Western Branch Diesel for parts.I talked to Jimmy, the manager, about the attitude of his employee and I got a song and dance from him. Maybe next time you should let your customer lead.

The worst experience I ever had with a company would stay as far away as possible gave me wrong parts showed up to check out my motors with no lab top no tools just a mess only good was David shook stepped up
