welding of my catalytic converters was done within 24 hours, good right? when i arrived, i asked to look at their work, it was somewhat of a sketchy vibe...and i saw why once i looked under the car. the welds were terrible. when i confronted the supervisor, his response was "did it leak?", no it didn't leak, "well there's nothing we can do for you unless it leak". i then asked him if there was a warranty on the welds to which he told me 90 days. if these welds are structurally sound, we won't have a problem. but we'll see how long they last. 3 stars (generously) for getting the job done fast. 1 star for not holding self or crew accountable for poor quality work

Big Al's Portsmouth is the plug You need some exhaust work or just a tune up, Ptown Big Al's got you covered hands down.

Walked in there to get an oil change, front desk clerk told me someone would be with me because he was busy. I stood there for 20 minutes just for a yes or no answer on if there was time if I could squeeze in an oil change considering it was an hour and half before closing, but no one ever came.

The customer service was great, was told it will be 2 hours but it was 3 hrs, but it was ok, I had the pleasure of having a conversation with some great people. But most importantly, the bathroom and floors were cleaned and there were no STAINS in the seats. I will definitely return if needed.

Took my car back twice to get fixed and paid at least $700 and then the next day I had to take it back again just for them to tell me my gasket it s blown and they can t do anything for me

I feel the price was inflated, but the problem was solved .I was told I need two things done but due to the bill being 1300 I decided to only do one thing. Then I was told by the actual mechanic that the other thing I was told by front desk needed to be done was actually fine.

I saw with my own eyes people complaining. Had to leave my car over night because work was not completed. Saw the counter person arguing with a customer rudely .

Going to take my car in for new brakes (probably rotors too). My wife brags about the service here now. She is dedicated and won't take the Jeep anywhere else but here. I had a bad experience over a year ago but the last few times we took her Jeep in the customer service was excellent. I'm not from Virginia so it would be great to find a shop to stick with and not have to worry about if I'm paying a fair price.Okay. My wife was right again!!! Took my SUV in Friday evening. Had no high expectations because the parking lot was full except for 3 parking spots. Very friendly customer service. Before they closed they had taken my vehicle into the shop. Within half hour after they opened they had already conducted an inspection and called me!!! Vehicle was completed within the next couple hours and the price was very fair!! I will be taking my vehicle there in the future. Loved they are open on Saturdays and how friendly the service was. This is one time I'm glad she was right!!

Overall great experience. While I was here I always felt my vehicle would be well taken care of. The technicians were very transparent about the work they would be doing, and prior to performing the maintenance, they took me to my vehicle and showed me the issues and recommended solutions that were cost effective. The technicians had a high level of knowledge and offered exceptional customer service. I will only be bringing my vehicles to Big Al's if I have problems with my brakes.

Dave is the best. I would specifically recommend this shop to women, I've been taking my vehicles here since 2014, and they have never given me a run around and will actually show you what needs to be repaired. I've even gone there thinking I needed breaks and was told no you can ride those brakes out for another 3 months before you need new brake s.

I noticed how willing they were to help me and not just take my money because I am a woman. I can respect any business that does business well. I came there for front brakes and they told me that I didn't even need them. Other places would have just taken my money and acted as if they had put new brakes on but not these people. So they definitely have a repeat customer.

I ve taken my car here 2 times within 6 months for exhaust work and just had to take it to another muffler shop to get it fixed a 3rd time. The other shop called me to tell me what an awful job Big Al s did on my exhaust and that it wasn t even welded. They just slapped putty on it and wires were poking out everywhere. They showed me the pipe they pulled out and to say the least, I am very disappointed in the amount of money I ve spent here for poor craftsmanship. Save yourself the trouble and go to Superior Auto down the street.Service: Exhaust
