All the other great reviews are what reassured me that I picked the right place! I had previously gone to another big name auto shop for a simple state inspection and was told my brakes had some issues and it would now cost me $1300+ and my car failed state inspection because of it! I needed to find a place trustworthy to give a second opinion and Bay Old Dominion Service Center was just that location!! They called me right away after I had requested an appointment online, drop off was quick and by the end of the same day, they had retested my brakes and found absolutely nothing wrong with them! They also preformed the state inspection the same day and passed! Everyone we spoke to was so professional and reassuring and we really felt like we left our car in safe and trusted hands. This is definitely our new auto shop for all future needs! Thanks again for all your help today Bay Old Dominion Service Center!

I was having issues with a different local shop and needed some urgent help at the eleventh hour. I needed my car to be state inspected ASAP and it needed a few small repairs first... the other shop kept jerking me around and ultimately, on the day I needed the repairs done, they told me they couldn't help me. So many days had passed working with the other shop that I lost a lot of time and was coming up on a deadline to finish the repairs and get my inspection before I had to travel long distance. I called Bay Old Dominion on a random whim seeing if they could do anything for me at such a last minute.To keep it simple, I feel lucky for having called Bay Old Dominion. They squeezed me in between appointments, completed the minor repairs, and then did my inspection. I left my car with them since they were working on me between their appointments but it was all finished in only about 3-4 hours. The guy I spoke to both on the phone and in person was very no-nonsense and straightforward in a way that I appreciated. He could back up everything he said. Example: he referenced a physical printout of Virginia state law when explaining to me what options I had regarding the state inspection so that I had the complete picture. Finally, the final cost I paid was reasonable and was LESS expensive than what I was expecting. When does that ever happen with cars?

Wow I am actually nervous writing this review because I am nervous about sharing this great mechanic service center. I had a car quit working over the holidays had to get it towed to the shop. I needed to get it fixed and fast. They could have charged me 2-3x. They turned it around in spite of my nagging. We moved in to town and struggled finding a place we could trust. We will get all our vehicles done here. ET is amazing and getting it done. Thanks!!!

My F150 failed state inspection due to rust holes in the floor pan. I had difficulty even getting an estimate. Bay OD Service Center came to the rescue. I received a very reasonable estimate. They showed me the problem and what they would do to fix it. They fixed the problem and I was able to get it successfully re-inspected within the 15 day window! They are true professionals, doing quality work, and helped me out when I had a time crunch for the repairs! I would have given them 10 stars if I could!

Got my state inspection done here and the staff are friendly. Also, they give you honest opinions whether its expensive for you to do it with them or if you know a mechanic friend that can do it for you cheaper. They'll explain what needs to get done to pass the inspection and give you the paper anyway. 10/10

I just want to say all the POSITIVE reviews are correct.I am new to VA and was told by some VA residents how hard it can be to your car inspected and how some shops take advantage of customers.I found this place on Google & decided to give them a try based off the Google reviews & because you can schedule an appointment.I was able to make an appointment. I arrived within the appointment window time 8-10 am. I was greeted by the lady who was professional.I asked how long it would take? She asked did I have a ride to pick me up & when I said no.She stated they could have had someone take me home if they knew ahead of time that was a service I needed.One of the nice gentleman where able to move somethings around to get me in and out in less than an hour and the inspection cost was $20. I did not require any additional services.I will be a repeat customer.

ET is the guy you want to go to for your car. He took good care of me. Most importantly he took care of my car and got me back on the road. His an honest and fair guy. Don't call him sir, it's ET. Old Dominion 850 w 40th. Go check his shop out. He fixed my Alternator. Let's get him some more business.

Absolutely recommend this place . I got an oil change and state inspection. E.T. Made me an appt, gave me an estimate, and told me when it would be ready a week prior. And my price was less than the estimate and my car was ready before it was susposed to be. Friendly and trustworthy!!!

Bay Old Dominion S.C. goes the extra mile for its customers!E.T., the service manager, runs a top-notch shop. He s extremely helpful and courteous, even at the busiest times. I can trust him to give me honest work appraisals, and to provide qualified and competent mechanics who get the job done.When E.T. referred me elsewhere for a muffler repair, that business was reputable.Be aware that there is usually a 7-10 day lead time for service.

Needed 3 trailer tires removed from rims and new ones installed. After confirming their tire machine could remove the tires from rim, ET provided a reasonable quote for the tire swap and gave me a time frame when I dropped them off as to when they would be ready for pickup. Great communication, I received an email, text message and phone call when they were ready and it was sooner than expected! Clean waiting area if you need to wait and they offer coffee and water!I will definitely return to this close neighborhood repair shop.Service: Tires

I went in to get my tires checked, turned out to be a sensor issue. They were able to get it fixed very quickly once the parts came in. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They even offered to train me to check the tire pressure manually as a work around.They also have pretty reasonable pricing and do not try to upsell.I am definitely going back to them for any car servicing/inspection!

Solid mechanic. First time I've taken my 2020 to anywhere that wasn't the dealership. It was a fine experience, and I would use them again.I appreciate the fact that they do appointments, it's much easier to plan rides/another mode of transportation if you're like me and only have one car.

I've been coming here for a few years for inspections and repairs, as I can drop off a car and walk home. Beats the hell out of waiting in line for a couple hours at other places. Quality maintenance done in a timely manner.

This place is amazing! My 1st experience was when I had to get my vehicle serviced on the collision side due a accident and they were able to replace my bumper. 2nd my vehicle was repaired on the service side and I must say both times E.T. and Cathy were very professional and kept the communication open throughout the entire process. On top of that the price was very reasonable and affordable! I highly recommend anyone to both places for any type of service and repairs!!!

Excellent, reliable, and fast service! Diagnosed and fixed a "weird noise" and had my Honda Pilot back to me within two days. Communication and honesty are top notch. Not only are they trustworthy and kind, they were extremely accommodating/willing to stay open after closing so I could pick up my car after class. I ve brought my cars to Bay Old Dominion S.C several times for services including, state inspections, tire rotations and tire balancing, and battery replacement.They are one of the few shops in the area who allow appointments for state inspections. This is a life saver for military and civilian federal employees who need a valid state inspection to get on base.Each time I ve used this shop they ve had excellent communication. When I was a broke student and my old 20 year old car died, they quickly and correctly diagnosed that the battery died. Then gave me the option to purchase an inexpensive battery myself and have it installed or have them purchase a quality but very expensive NAPA battery and have it installed.I prefer to DIY any work I can on my car, but sometimes it s not an option. While I haven t had major work done here, I trust this shop, and I can t say the same about the dealer or corporate chain shops.Services: Tires, Vehicle safety inspection, Auto maintenance, Battery

I will definitely be coming back again! Everyone I spoke to was friendly, helpful, and courteous. I needed a few things done on my car - oil change, inspection, and diagnostic for a grinding noise. They called with an estimate for new brake pads and rotors that ended up matching the total price. Though they couldn't finish the job in a day, they fit me in the next and they completed the work successfully. My car runs great, and they gave a recommendation for another service that they couldn't complete in shop (windshield crack). The location is also convenient, right off Colley Ave and easy to get in and out of.Services: Brakes, Vehicle safety inspection, Auto brake replacement, Oil change

After having a series of frustrating experiences trying to get my vehicle inspected at other auto service providers in the area, I followed the advice of a colleague and made an appointment at Bay Old Dominion Service Center. They gave me a specific time to be there and assured me they would finish the car inspection in one hour or less. They took the car as soon as I arrived and completed the inspection in less than an hour while I waited in their clean and comfortable waiting room. Everyone was very pleasant and professional, which I appreciated. This is service the way it should be. As long as I live in Hampton Roads, I will never take my car to be inspected or serviced anywhere else again!Service: Vehicle safety inspection
