Awesome buying experience ever! Done mostly online . Walked in and left with the vehicle that I ordered 30 minutes later. Very nice staff there . I highly recommend buying from Carmax and letting them handle the financing .

Customer Service to purchase the car was stellar.!!!! We have a warranty issue - Check engine light came on. Our new to us XC 90 has been with CarMax for a week. Communication is very limited. Get the opinion that the techs are doing us a favor to talk to us. 30 day return policy is up today. In Warranty Limbo - Returning the car today?Customer service for the purchase 5 stars - Customer service to resolve the warranty issue not existent - 0 stars - resulting in 2 stars - really disappointing!

I purchased a 2020 Ford F-150 and couldn t be happier with the overall process. I made my selection online, received the out the door price quote, went to the location for a test drive, and completed the transaction. The price was exactly what was quoted and it included tax and fees. No haggle, no hassle.

My experience was amazing! Mike Briggs helped me out with my new Equinox and when I found a similar one later that had more features that I wanted in a car he helped me out on returning the other and getting me in my new ride. There were a few bumps along the way, but he kept me updated and gave exceptional customer service. They ve exceeded my expectations and I m happy with the outcome!

It was perfect, I love my car and everyone one I dealt with at CarMax was very nice and helped with anything I asked. I would always buy any future cars I get through CarMax. I like their pricing and not having to go through haggling price with the salesman. All auto dealers should price this way.

Took longer than expected to get to my appointment. After looking over the vehicle I was interested in and driving it, I informed the salesman that the tires need to be replaced. The tires were dry rotting, all 4 had wear on the inside tread and one was down to secondary rubber ( almost to cords or steel). I could also feel a vibration while driving it. The salesman said that the tires met their standards and pretty much told me that's how it would be. I then asked what's the best price or lowest price they can go down to. Salesman stated that they don't haggle pricing and it sells for what's on the sticker. I thanked the salesman and shook his hand and said I'll be in touch if I wanted said vehicle. I did not go back, I went to a local dealership and purchased a newer vehicle for more money and had a very good experience there where they listen to the customer. If you're in a bind and need a vehicle right then, maybe it would be ok to use CarMax. Seems to me like I was wasting their time. Oh and the vehicle I purchased had new tires on it!

The visit was good. Our sales person, I believe is name is Don was very helpful and made the process extremely easy for us and made it a positive experience in front of our kids. The only thing I didn t like was when I came back to have the second key programmed, I was told by service that they were not going to do it. So now I have to pay $200+ for a key to be programmed when i was told CarMax would take care of it.

The salespeople were very pleasant and helpful, but I had a problem with the car which I shipped in They just needed to address the problem I got the car back after a week or so and it was not fixed.I went back, and the new Service Manager was very attentive and apologetic and handled the cost to correct the issues. I think he went out of his way to make sure I was happy

The offer wasn t exactly what I felt was fair, but they do need to run a business. Overall the selling process was simple and the representative was helpful and pleasant.I watched the fellow who assessed the vehicle before completing the sale. He just made sure all the controls worked and looked over the condition of the vehicle. It was never driven to determine its mechanical condition. We sold them a good car that had been well maintained, but I d be wary of buying one at CarMax without getting an independent garage to check it out.

I went in and the dealer was outstanding. Unfortunately the car warning lights cut on three days later. Then it took a week to get the car into the shop but the stood behind the warranty and took care of the car with no problem. Since they stood by the product and warranty I gave them 5 stars.

This was the most enjoyable car-buying experience I have ever had in 60 years. Kason was very helpful in locating the ideal car for me, getting it delivered in a short time, arranging a full-day to test drive and examine the car, and completing the necessary paperwork to close the deal. The service staff also quickly took care of minor blemishes in the car finish. The paperwork and service work was completed in less than 1 1/2 hours. Amazing compared to all other dealerships.

This was a large, clean and well established business. I was here to sell a car through their online appraisal process. It was clear, above board and seemless. We did the appraisal online and got an appointment through the Las Vegas based call center. We arrived for our appointment, and went to the front desk as instructed. I was surprised we were sent to the business office and not sales...what? They weren't going to try to sell us a replacement? Not even a little? Nice. The service office had a short wait and we ended up talking to a more senior person b/c the person behind the desk explained some details about the transaction we weren't clear on. We waited about 40 minutes for them to do an onsite appraisal of the car. I was expecting them to low ball the online appraisal - get them in the door with a generous offer and then try to eek a few more bucks profit out of us now that we were there...nope that didn't happen either! Our online info was accurate so the in person "official" appraisal was the exact same amount as the online one. The only surprise was that it could take 6 weeks to get the proceeds b/c they had to wait for the clear title from the loan company...this was not mentioned until they had the car, keys and paperwork started. I asked the LV guy on the phone "we haven't done this before is there anything else we should know that we don't know to ask?" that would have been a perfect time to tell us this so that was a missed opportunity that created some stress. But when we talked to the loan company, they assured us this is SOP and so we finalized the deal. Now is a great time to sell a car b/c of the shortage and the CarMax sales process at this location was stellar with no hidden fees, no hidden agenda and no bait and switch.I used the bathroom a couple of times while we were here and it was as good an experience as the rest of the place. The stalls were clean, there was a lot of great social distancing/sanitary process signage encouraging the safest way to wash your hands, etc. There were fully stocked toilet seat covers (any one else hear Phoebe Buffay whenever they say toilet seat covers??) and the door opened in but there was a foot holder so you could do so hands free. I would definitely pee here again.Follow me for reviews on the places I have been and the places I have gone.

Smooth, well-run operation. The car was prepped quickly and we drove off without a hitch. HOWEVER, the one tire that was losing air is STILL losing air. We will have to return to get the tire fixed or replaced. It's only a slow leak, but the tire will eventually be flat if it's not dealt with.

Went into the store after reading the negative reviews to give them the benefit of the doubt. Expressed my desire to buy a car and was shown the lot, after finding a couple cars I really liked I got in and was met with disgusting and smelly interiors. In several of the cars a cigarette smell was pervasive along with dirt filled floors and seats, in one car the entire center bottom half of the center console was covered in what looked like month old spilled soda residue.Would not recommend as if these are how they treat the exterior I shudder to think what s under the hood.

Varied selection of lightly used vehicles from economy to luxury, of various makes and models. All vehicles were unlocked, allowing you to browse, inspect, and sit in the vehicle without having to have a salesperson accompany you first. While this is great, it led to the one negative - it was very difficult to get an available salesperson. Yes there were a number of other customers, but it didn't appear to be overwhelming based on the number of staff present. Even worse though, is that I had an appointment, that I showed up a half hour early for. Unfortunately, I wasn't called back for my appointment to test drove the vehicle I had reserved until 1 hour after appt time. While this seems bad, and it wasn't the best, it did give me a lot of time to browse the lot further and decide what other vehicles I would like to test drive.

Awesome experience, We purchased a Minivan and after 2 weeks we determined it wasn't for us. I called our CARMAX Sales rep and asked about their return policy and we were able to trade it for a SUV. It was a great experience. I highly recommend purchasing a car from CARMAX.

My visit with carmax started over a 3 day period. The first day we test drove a car and the next day we was asked to come back and the guy would put it on hold. We came back as agreed and while standing at the car another lady sales rep comes out and states my client wants this car and its not on hold. The sales rep we had failed to put the car on hold :-( We was sorely disappointed that the car was sold with us standing right in front of it by the other rude sales rep. Sometime, after we went back to the sales reps desk and we looked at the same cars in their inventory and ran across another car very similar but without the sunroof alittle higher but with less mileage, 1 owner, no accidents and fully maintained car. Carmax offered to shipped to us for FREE and reserved. We tracked the car the whole way to VA. We ended up with a better more newer car because of the incident. Once our Mecedes C300 arrived we found car to brand new, no imperfections. We thank God that a bad situation save us from getting a car that was no where in the condition the car that was shipped to us. We came out great paying alittle more but a much better Mecedes C300 and shipped for free! We thank CARMAX for making things right in what we thought was a bad situation. God protected us and gave us a brand new car! Thank you, CARMAX! It is a keeper until the wheels fall off! ;-)

Worst car buying experience of my life. Missed a week of vacation ...finally got another vehicle. We are now on vacation and this jeep has issues too. Worst company on the planet with staff who say different things depending on who you speak to. I own a company ...very successful ...with excellent reviews BECAUSE MY CUSTOMERS COME FIRST.

If I could use 0 stars I would. My husband bought a 2019 outback Subaru back in November of 2022, our first road trip it starts not accelerating past 60 MPH, stalling then shutting off and this is April 2023, we take it to a Subaru service location and they run a diagnostics and couldn t find anything wrong, after looking and looking they figured it was a body valve. We fix it thinking this is good to go but then two weeks later after making it home it happens again and again they found nothing wrong with it, then come to when we have to move across country for my husband s new military orders the car does it again on December 4th and after they look at it the transmission needs to be changed out completely because it was tampered with apparently. We have had it for only a year and got it with 77,000 miles we just hit 90,000 not even much and it gives out on us. Point of story don't buy from carmax and especially if you are military, this place sells lemons and will probably be black listed to sell to military after our situation.

The experience was great salesman very professional, staff courteous, the process somewhat uneventful, however, my vehicle was advertised as navigation and I was unaware until 2 weeks after purchase that it did not this was one of the features that I was looking forward to using to say I m disappointed is completely accurate other than that everything was good!

It's another CarMax. Always great service from their satisfied employees. Everyone seems to be happy to work there and are more than willing to either buy your vehicle or get you another vehicle.

Great place to find and sell your car. Carmax will definitely get you into a car. Make this your first stop when looking for a car.

I made this appointment specifically on this day so that 2 issues could be resolved during one appointment. Each issue required a different service technician. When making the appointment, I double checked that both issues would be taken care of. After arriving, I was told that one of the technicians was not available, and that while I could get the paint looked at, I would have to return a week later for the other issue. The service representative was apologetic, but that doesn't negate the fact that systems should be in place to let customers know if changes in service appointments need to be made. Having to find cover for work for two days because CarMax is unable to alert customers to changes in service appointments in unacceptable.

I can't say enough good things about CarMax (CM). After dealing with a few independent used car salesmen, I really came to appreciate the CM experience. Honestly, I don't think CM has the absolute best prices on their vehicles. However, CM's reliability, selection, simplicity and seamlessness are unmatched. I'll be going back to them next year when my daughter needs a car.

You guys lost my title. And I had an issue with the truck and was promised a call back from 4 different managers and never received a call back. You guys are the worst car experience I have ever had. I will definitely not buy another vehicle from CarMax.

Car max vehicles are always good quality and if there is a problem you got 90 days to get it fix by car max no charge. Can't beat that. The people at car max have great attitudes and very helpful. this is my 10 vehicle from car max and I will go back again when needing a vehicle. The service department is great fixed the 5 problems I had found with the vehicle no hassle. I would highly recommend Car max for buying a vehicle.

Was purchasing a vehicle that needed to be shipped from another state (PA), Car came to this location and did not pass their QC inspection. After a few weeks, I inquired about the car again and they said they were still repairing it. After a few months, I decided to just move on to another vehicle from somewhere else.I had emailed the store manager to see if I could get a refund for the original shipping cost since it was clear I was never going to be able to get the car, which she obliged to, but I have get that money back and they have ghosted me entirely.

I could not have asked for a better car buying experience. I had 4 trucks shipped in before I found the one for me. At no time was I pressured to buy anything that didn't meet my needs/expectations. The purchasing process was clear and there was no push for an up sale other than an extended warranty. After this experience, I do not see myself ever buying from a dealership again.

As a previously satisfied customer who purchased over five vehicles from Carmax Newport News, Virginia, it's with great disappointment that I recount a recent experience marked by a significant decline in service and professionalism.Initial Purchase Experience (Mid-October 2023): Contrasting sharply with past experiences, the enthusiasm and customer-centric atmosphere I had come to expect were noticeably missing. The vehicle, though selected with care online, was presented dirty inside and out and then only hastily cleaned after my request, diminishing the excitement of a new purchase.Issues with Vehicle and Service Center Negligence (November 2023): Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I encountered steering column issues and persistent error messages regarding the parking assist system. Despite a detailed report to the service center on November 3, 2023, the subsequent assurances of repair were unfounded, as my inspection revealed that neither issue was repaired when I came to pick up the vehicle after they informed me the repairs were complete.Extended Repair Saga and Communication Breakdown (November 2023 - December 2023): The journey to rectify these issues was a prolonged one, involving the transfer of my vehicle to a Cadillac dealership. This process was plagued by a lack of communication from Carmax and continuous delays in repair approvals, extending over a six-week period.Ineffective Management Response (December 2023 - January 2024): In seeking resolution, I engaged with both the General Manager and the Sales Manager, whose responses were underwhelming. The GM's belated outreach and the Sales Manager's brief and rather arrogant interaction reflected a superficial attempt to "make it right." Their approach lacked the genuine commitment to customer satisfaction that I had previously experienced at Carmax.Vehicle Exchange Fiasco (January 2024): The proposed solution, an exchange of the vehicle, was fraught with inefficiency. It involved a lengthy process with another vehicle, initially delayed due to title issues and further complicated by the loss of the title. The replacement vehicle, while more expensive, was yet again presented in an uncleaned state. The Sales Manager's demeanor during this process, coupled with the GM's lackluster involvement, underscored a disappointing departure from the customer-first ethos I had valued. Conclusion and Final Disappointment: The culmination of these events, including the discovery of a cracked window on the newer vehicle post-test drive (somehow they clumsily found a way to crack the window while I was completing the purchase) and the nominal efforts made by Carmax to rectify the situation, solidified my disillusionment. The approach taken by the dealership, which seemed to treat me more as an inconvenience rather than a valued customer, coupled with their minimal and grudging attempts at resolution, was a far cry from the high standards of customer care and integrity Carmax once exemplified. My advice to potential customers is to consider other options. The decline in attentive service, transparency, and genuine efforts to address customer concerns at Carmax Newport News is alarming. This experience has sadly transformed my perception of Carmax from a trusted dealership to a cautionary example of a business losing sight of its core values.
