I contacted their Hull Street location by e-mail to explain a situation in which I was attempting to help a relative who needed tires and brakes (that person was in Brandermill, we're out here in the Northwest). The e-mail fully explained the situation and asked for a callback to discuss...when there was no callback I called the shop and spoke to someone who had read the message but not bothered to respond. After what I thought was a reasonable and pleasant discussion (including trying to convince him this wasn't a scam) he said he would have to contact "one of the owners" to see if we could move forward. And...haven't heard from anyone since, which is fine since we went ahead and took what turned out to be $1350 of business down the street.

I felt completely taken advantage of. We have used Allen tire in the past and seemed to have received good service. Well this time around I needed a drive belt and alternator replaced. Parts for both are under $300, well under. My total bill for these two items came to $1463.74. I called 5 mechanics in the area and they just laughed. In addition to Michael and Pat sounding like salesman on the phone. I will never take my cars to Allen Tire again. Nor will I refer anyone there. $1463.74 for one belt and one alternator. They got me good.

Our family has been going here for years. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. They have always been honest and super fair. This is the only place we take our vehicles.

Pat and his crew has done our family vehicles right for the last 11 years. (My wife has been going here for about 20+ years) We ve always have been given a fair price, and have not had any problems after the work was completed. They ve been honest in their scope of training with us, too; e.g.- we had a transmission issue with our truck, and after diagnosing the problem, Pat recommend a transmission shop close by that was able to take care of it.They re a good bunch of folks, and we definitely recommend them. Thank you.John Doc Lykins, NREMT-Paramedic (Ret.)Midlothian, Virginia 23112

This location is excellent! They were quick, transparent and extremely friendly. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

I showed up for my appointment time for a car inspection and they were ready to go. Didn't have to wait too long and they informed me of a future maintenance repair. Very good.

This particular business cannot honor appointment times. The last two times I've gone in with an appointment, I've asked them if my vehicle will be ready by 5pm. (As I'm dropping it off around 8am with an appointment). Both times I was told absolutely it will be ready. So when I get there at 5pm to pick up ny vehicle they tell me it's not ready yet buy will start on it now. At this point they've had my vehicle all day and never performed any work until I get there to pick it up. Why take an appointment if you cannot perform the work that day? Just to have someone sit and wait? Such a disappointing experience with Allen tire.

I have been taking my wife's car to the 10200 Midlothian Turnpike location for several years now. Thomas, the guy on the front desk is always helpful, straight forward and honest. The service is always spot on and they may offer additional services but are never pushy about it. It should speak volumes that I take my wife's car to them because I want to be sure she is safe and her car is always running good. Allen Tire provides me that assurance.

I went in to have 4 new tires installed and a wheel alignment. It took 3 hours for them to complete the work. When I left I noticed a knocking sound coming from one of the wheels when I went over bumps. I returned and informed them of the noise. After waiting for 30 minutes they took my car back into the shop. Another 45 minutes later I was told that the bushing on my rear left shock absorber were shot . I asked them how this could be as the noise wasn t an issue prior to having them work on the car. I was told that the alignment made it become noticeable. I went home and proceeded to inspect my wheels. I found that all the bushings were in good condition however when they did the alignment they fails to tighten the bolts on the shock absorber and control arm. Once I properly tightened them the issue was resolved. Mistakes happens and I could understand a bolt not getting tightened but to make a false claim about bushings being bad is purely unprofessional. Had I been a customer that was not mechanically inclined I could have very easily paid for repair costs associated with the false claim made. Unfortunately it leaves to question if this was there intent and how many other customers may have been tricked.

This place is great. I made an appt for a simple state inspection and had to bring the grandkids along because of the timing. David, at reception was extra patient with us. He offered to let the kids watch whatever they wanted on Netflix. The cherry on top was when he discreetly asked if the kids could have ice cream. The kids were thrilled. I walked in assuming this experience would be rough because of bored grandkids in tow. However, it ended up being a real bright spot in our day. Thank you so much!

I really like this place. I have a fleet vehicle that needs maintained regularly and the fleet company limits who I can go to. I HAVE to visit one of the big box stores like Goodyear or Merchant Tire. I came here based on customer reviews online and I will say I am very impressed. I've been coming here now for about a year now and they have completely won me over.I've always sit and wait for my vehicle while it's being worked on. Which gives me the opportunity to listen to them interact with the customers as they come in. I am continually impressed by their honesty and integrity when suggesting repairs. Many times they have sat down with the customers and explained in detail what they are suggesting and why. But never are they pushy or do they force their suggestions on anyone.I would (and do) comfortably send my family and friends here for service work.

By far the best shop I have ever had the pleasure to do business with. When I lived here 4 year ago, they always had fair prices, solid work and awesome customer service. I moved back to the area 3 months ago. I ran over a nail and went in to get it fixed. Same great atmosphere, same great prices and the work was done incredibly quick. Over the years, I had major repairs performed here too. If you have any work to be done on foreign or domestic cars, go here. You ll be just as happy as I was to find a shop I could trust.

My car just happened to die right in front of their lot. They checked it out for me and were incredibly honest about repair options and that the car was not viable. They gave me time to figure things out and even offered to help me get home if we needed it. My experience with staff was that every evening was kind, helpful, and understanding. Thanks guys for being so good to me!

Under pressure from my schedule to leave town, I needed a repair and an oil change on my car before I left. I totally expected the part I needed to take a few days to come in. Rob got me in right away and they told me they could get the part THAT DAY and make the repair. Within hours they had my car all taken care of and couldn't have been nicer to me. I really appreciate service like this, especially since I have little knowledge about cars. I will definitely be back to see these guys. Shout out to Rob, Matt, and the rest of their team for being so awesome at what they do! Thank you!

Great tire service shop in the area. I have used a number of them on Hull St (and we have a LOT of options) and they are the best.I brought them a flat tire and my vehicle after I'd already put on the spare. Before I left they made sure my spare had enough air and checked the torque on the spare. When I returned same day after the repair they attached my standard tire, remounted my spare and also stowed away all of the jack components in my trunk. The only place I will go for tire service. Allen Tire has a long,, solid reputation in the Richmond area and this business upholds their values.

They are happy to work with your warranty programs if you have any. They dealt with our warranty service and made sure we didn't have to pay any $ out of pocket for the costly AC repairs. They explain to you in details if you ask what's wrong and what's needed to be done. They do take reservations online and by phone. Overall very satisfied.

Great place to have your vehicles repaired. I came in with no appointment for a state inspection and oil change. The guy behind the counter Pat greeted me right away when I came in and told me no problem and got me in right away. I was in and out in about two hours and only needed wiper blades for inspection. You always hear horror stories about automotive places and state inspections, but these guys were on point and didn't try to oversell. Pat went out of his way to make me feel welcomed being I was a new customer. He is definitely a value at the counter and to the company. Highly recommended!

My husband Glenn and I have been coming to Allen Tire for most of the 25 years we've lived here in Richmond to get all our work done on our cars. They have never let us down. We trust them. Their prices are fair. Whenever we've had a flat tire they've patched the leak for free. I just got 4 more new tires for my Accord there yesterday. We'll always go there and highly recommend them!

Hands down Would highly recommend to anyone! I have never received anything less than amazing customer service from the guys up front as well as top notch work from the guys in the back in the 10 years I ve been coming here. I refuse to take ANY of my vehicles else where as I don t trust I ll receive the same quality of work that I get while at Allen Tire. They really treat your car like their own and will not let you leave unsatisfied.

The guys here always do an excellent job, and I trust them. They don't try to sell me things I don't need. They even talk me out of things I ask for when I don't need them yet.

The sales staff and management are so good about relating information about what you NEED done now, what they also recommend you have done, and what you will need to attend to in the future. They never push unneeded services and all work is checked by a manager before the vehicle leaves the shop.

I Compare this Auto Care Center with Other Nearby auto shops.(such as Buddy South, Pep Boys, Midas and Victory Lane)I seek out Quality and Customer Care from the businesses I associate myself with. This is the 2nd time I have failed to bring my car to these guys. Timing was bad or whatever, it happens. If you want the truth Hull Street Dwellers,Read on my people. The first time,I needed to get my manual repaired, I took it to two or three different shops, spent a few hundred, still had problems with it kicking.. brought it to the good guys of Allen Tire, they said your gearbox to the transmission needs to be cleaned out.. $40 bucks. FROM This day on, my car ran smooth and steady. :D I was petrified with excitement. Other shops claimed, it was a part causing the issue. Allen Tire proved compared to multiple different nearby auto care shops including Pep Boys and Midas, they had the skill and the know-how, to make sure I was Not wasting my money. The Second TimeI need to get my car inspected. I started off at Victory Lane (across the street). They could not fix the hangers to my exhaust, so I had to go elsewhere. Midas (next to Allen Tire) could not do everything I needed, but both the Hull street location and the Midas I went to (in Chester), said that they could. So... its 11:30 I get over there, now they are claiming that Victory Lane made a misevaluation on whether a tie rod, or a ball joint needed to be replaced...So if I want to get this car to pass inspection, I have to pick one. So I tell Midas, go ahead fix the ball joint and pass the inspection, please!Well it turns out they cannot replace one marker light that is out, to which both Midas and Victory Lane said they could replace. So I take it back over to Victory Lane, where the most humble owner refused to fix my vehicle any further, because Midas boys stripped the bolt upon replacing the ball joint... it is an hour away from shop closing time.I take it over to my lifeline. Someone I know, has really helped me before. The ever so trusted, Allen Tire!!!Make note of this people, they were infact just as busy if not more so than Victory Lane or Midas at least when I came in, near the end of the day at that..and they prop my car up!! Unreal.. moments later the mechanic shows me that Midas had stripped the bolt, and they repaired it for me for no charge. Paramount Care. They saw I had been "tossed around" that day. They yet again, fixed me up for as cheap as possible.AND THEY WERE WEARING MASKS AND COVERED THE DRIVERS SEAT UPON ENTERING IT. THE ONLY ONES who showed Me that they were taking extra precautions for COVID Seriously, and I don't like preaching. It was impressive. Specially cuz.. I didnt pay anything! I'm dying inside knowing these guys are worse off, probably making less money, but they CONSISTENTLY prove they are really there to help people get their f#@$!%& vehicle fixed and move on with their day!MIDAS of Chester failed to install the part correctly.VICTORY LANE, as a returning customer, I felt very disappointed when he wouldn't let his man fix the bolt because of "his insurance". This was hardly aggravating compared to going back to Victory Lane the 3rd Time at the end of the day less than an hour before they close to get them to finally pass it.They are not very busy, not like Allen Tire was, and they were very rude to me, not seeming happy that I was managing to get back to them to do the only thing I needed them to do.I could say a lot here, but the point is to the guys at Victory Lane for example, it didn't matter, no matter what I had to say. In Allen Tire, I didn't have to say anything, it already did matter! To the trusted auto care givers, the real ones, at Allen Tire.Enough with the corny.. look,I dont need an auto shop with nice clean cars, young faces and clean suits. I need guys who are experienced, know what to look out for, and have no incentive to cheat me, rather than do what they're there for.. my zen. Allen Tire, a most trusted Branch on Hull Street. (Buddy south if you can't get Allen):DService: General repairs & maintenance

Went in for state inspection yesterday. I knew there was nothing wrong with my vehicle . Two very small rust spots on K frame. Not enough to fail. On the way out the cashier asked me if I wanted a banana. I let that slip over my head. Anyway I don't recommend them for services on our vehicles. Happy New Year!

I read Style Weekly's "Best of Richmond" review and discovered Allen Tire Inc. On my first visit, I received the best service ever for my vehicle and, a problem overlooked by another shop was resolved. Everything went so smoothly, from the time I walked in, including a ride home and a ride back to the shop to pick up my car. Beginning with Josh, Chad, the mechanic who actually repaired my car, and the young man who gave me a lift home and back to the shop.I remain,Grateful

Would give negative stars if I could. Took a car here for inspection and they tell me its gonna fail for brake light and brake hoses. I was fine with that until he told me the brake hoses were shredded and wires were hanging out of the hose. I knew he was lying bc there are no wires in the brake hose. So I ask him to show me the problem and he refused. I even offered him my cell phone to take a picture and he refused. So I took the car home and looked for myself and neither of the hoses were "shredded" with so called wires hanging out. I take the car to another shop after fixing the brake light and it passed. Wouldn't reccomend my worst enemy to these thievesUPDATE: I talked to them and i was in fact reviewing the correct place. They had me under the wrong name. They called and I listened to the guy behind the counter tell his boss he did none of the things I said he did. This was my first time choosing them and it will most definitely be the LAST.

Went in for an inspection and got rejected for both tag lights being out. Which is completely understandable. When I asked how much it would be the man said 10 dollar . I told him to go ahead and fix it. When I went to pay after everything was done I was charged 10 dollars PER bulb. I was never told this detail prior to paying or I wouldve refused to have it done and fixed it myself. Very deceiving and shady. And to top everything else off my old sticker was not taken all the way off and they left the old sticker balled up in my dash. Very unprofessional organization. Save yourself the trouble and FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE. Because I have had alot of inspections done and NEVER had anything close to this problem. I hope I have saved some people from making the same mistake I did by writing this.

I used to love this place - it was my go-to shop for all my vehicle's needs. I will say that everyone here gets the job done quick, so I do thank you for that. The issue that I have with Allen Tire is because of a careless error that was made, and not corrected. I had taken my brand new vehicle to get 1 tire patched. I left the tire there while I went to work that day, they called that afternoon and my spouse picked up my tire to then put it on my car when I got home from work. The problem that I have is that this simple service was not completed - the mechanic who helped us did NOT put the tire pressure cap back on. I understand that this cap is nothing serious, however the task at hand was so simple that missing the final piece is plain unacceptable. If a mechanic can simply "forget" this one piece (an obvious piece, mind you) how many other things have they "forgotten" Thank heavens that I wasn't getting anything more serious done to my vehicle....I am now afraid that if I go back, I will be missing breaks, or shocks, or an oil filter.I'm sorry Allen Tire, but you have lost my business due to lack of care and attention.
