I have mixed feelings about this place. I ll give them 3 stars. They have bad miscommunication in this place amongst the employees. One thing I will say for sure if your vehicle is a daily driver don t take it here to have it serviced because they are extremely slow, I literally had to get impatient to get an update/status on my vehicle .is don t understand the purpose of them taking appointments if they can t assist you in a timely manner ..I ll have to try them again to change my review .spoke to the mechanic that was extremely rude, definitely needs some customer service training ..John the owner seemed trustworthy but again I have to be serviced again to see what s what.

UPDATE: 9/22/23. BEWARE!!!!!I just had to pay an additional $1500 to get my recently Aamco, Midlothian repaired van out of the Chevrolet dealership in West Virginia. The mechanic at this dealership said the work was some of the worst that he has ever seen. He told us that that the van still needs additional work. We will be contacting Aamco for some relief and see if they really do warranty their work. I doubt we will be successful. I will update this review again.By far the worse service I have ever experienced on anything. I wish I could give them a negative number. They had my van for about 6 months. The van required an engine. The owner/ manager John advise me to buy it from a company in MI. The first engine did not work. Multiple phone calls to John went un-answered. I had to go to the business on several occasions just to get answer. After about 6 months, I finally got the van back. I spent several thousands of dollars. It ran for less than 2 months and broke down in WV. John called at first to help, and just like the last time, our phone calls back to John are going un-answered. I currently have a call into Aamco s Headquarters. I also planned to send a message to Bruce Chidsey through LinkedIn. The president of the company should know how their brand is being represented.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Had a problem with my daughter s car that we thought was transmission. Aamco knew right away it wasn t, but had to do some trial and error to figure out the problem. They spent a lot of time and effort to troubleshoot, and figured out the problem. The mechanics are very knowledgeable, and the price was reasonable. We would definitely recommend this Aamco!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

These guys put me back in the game. John took care of all what was needed. Was fortunate to have one of the best transmission builders to put my 99 E350 transit bus back together again. Handled everything over the phone as well. I live in AL... Yes 650 miles away. Trust they guys. Yes sometimes things might take longer than expected but that's to be expected when everyone in the surrounding area is trying to get the best shop to fix their vehicles. When you go to a shop that has no wait that could just mean their business ain't up to pair so take that with a grain of salt. Again, trust these guys with your vehicle. Thanks again for handling my special case.

I had my Mitsubishi Montero towed their from another shop that did not repair transfer cases which is my problem. They quoted me extremely high prices for replacement with a used transfer case with only a 3 month warranty which is unheard of for AAMCO. I asked why they couldn't rebuild my existing transfer case and was told parts are too expensive and hard to find, without them even looking or giving me a quote. I decided to pick up my vehicle and have it towed elsewhere and they totally mistreated me threatening to charge storage fees and rude talk by the service manager was very unnecessary. Upon having my vehicle towed I noticed a different sound of the the vehicle while it was being driven to the tow truck positioning. Being harassed by the service manager distracted me from noticing what I should have and that being my catalytic converter had by stolen. The repair shop that inspected the vehicle for the transfer case repair called me and said and I quote " your vehicle is way loud because someone just recently cut your cats off"and "the cut hasn't even rusted yet". My vehicle was towed straight from AAMCO to a 4x4 specialist as I followed the tow truck in my car and the vehicle was driven and stored in the shop that day and night. I called AAMCO and told them the situation and they denied involvement of any kind but rather that " it probably came here like that ". When they did their diagnosis of the transfer case intially, they never mentioned the exhaust issue in the quote but noted that the motor mount and valve gasket needed replacement. How one could not notice the catalytic converter missing which is located next to the transfer case is beyond my logic. After several attempts to get a review of their security camera footage failed and constant threats by the service manager to sue me for harassment, I ended all communication for several days and called once more and the service manager while being rude to me said he "checked under every vehicle and they all had their exhaust intact and Ironically only my exhaust was stolen ". I have a claim with the BBB and hope to hear from them soon. DO NOT take your vehicle to these crooks.Services: Transmission, Exhaust

The whole team was incredible. I had gone to seven other shops and to get quotes and was very frustrated. They earned my trust from day one. I was called constantly and updated as to what was going on. They had to search and finally found a transmission for me. They built a level of trust that I've never experienced from any mechanical garage. I will be taking all of my vehicles there in the future for all of my maintenance needs.Service: Transmission

Worked with the Manager John on having a used transmission placed into our Subaru Forester. Took a little while as they were swamped with work.(Which in the current state of the car market makes sense). So far the car has worked flawlessly and John and his team were really upfront and candid with the work that needed to be performed. They provided quality work at a very reasonable price considering everything going on.Service: Transmission

I recently had a full transmission replacement at a different AAMCO location and within 12 hours, my car was broken down on the side of the road. Without hesitation, John took my car in and did thorough diagnostic check and found the issue. Throughout the entire process he always kept me up to date with what they found, reassured me that this was nothing I did to my car and even coordinated with the other location about paying my towing fees. While standing in line waiting to pick up my car, I was shocked at our professional and genuinely knowledgeable he was with discussing the other customers questions and concerns. I hope to not have any other future issues with my car, but if I do, they have definitely gained a customer for life. Can't recommend them enough!

The receptionist is a total flake! Like for real she needs fired. How can you operate a business with someone who don't even know if her head is screwed on straight. When did it become normal to lie to your customer? Like for real is my business not good enough for you?? Seriously not impressed!

I was looking for some springs for a project I was working on and after exhausting all options, I stopped in at AAMCO and explained I was looking for a few small springs. The manager connected me with one of the builders and they found just what I was looking for. Great customer service. Having been a transmission builder in my past career, I could tell the AAMCO team knew their stuff. I'd take my car there for sure if I need work. Great team!

I had a great experience at this shop. I brought my car in suspecting transmission issues. The mechanic diagnose my transmission and ended having to get it rebuilt. The mechanic and manger John was very honest and was more than willing to answer an questions I had regarding my car. They even took the time to explain to me the break down of how the the components of the transmission works. Heck, they even offered me to come up there to look at it once they took it apart. Even though I couldn t make it, I thought the gesture alone was pretty cool. My truck is my baby and at the time my primary vehicle. I was concern that they wouldn t be able to fix it before the Thanksgiving holiday. The mechanic told me he didn t want me to be without my vehicle for the holidays and pressed to get it done by Wednesday as promised. My truck is running strong. Also a little advice to people who don t know. When it comes to your transmission, take it to a shop that specializes in working on transmissions. If you take it to any other shop they will probably tell you that it needs to be replaced. Which will cost you a lot of money. Thank you Aamco for getting my car back on the road in record time before the holidays!!!!!!Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

In a short. I would not go back. The communication and the lies are crazy to the point where I had to get angry to get my suv back. The repairs they did was not approved by me but they did them anyway and I was over charged. Don t call corporate because they just as full of it! The mechanic himself seemed ok. If I could go into details it would take all day.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

They were obviously overwhelmed with customers. It took 3 weeks to fix a transmission leak and ball bearings. Communication in the first two weeks was bad and I had to call over and over again to get information why my car wasn't ready. There were obviously not prepared for that much traffic. However, John was apologetic and was honest work.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I love the friendly enviroment and honesty that this location fosters. I was told exactly what was wrong, what was recommended to be fixed, and the importance of the problems with my car. Tyler is a huge help and really cares about work ethic and is great at conveying messages from the mechanics to the customer. Everyone there has a lot of experience working with cars and knows what to do in any situation. I highly recommend this place if you are loooking for a reliable shop that takes their time and really cares about you and your car.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

The worst service I've ever experienced. It took them greater than 2 weeks to diagnose my problem, at a cost of $350. There was zero urgency or concern that they had my primary vehicle for such an excessive period of time. They instead made unlimited excuses. They fixed nothing. It was a $350 diagnostic. Although this likely required an appreciable investment in labor, I feel the cost was excessive. I'm sure they are experts at transmission repair, that was never a doubt, but this expertise does not extend to customer service or value. I cannot stress enough how displeased I was with their urgency and value. Never take your vehicle here if you want a mechanic that values your time, your money, and appreciates how difficult it is to be without your primary vehicle.

I wouldn t give this place 1 star except for the fact that you have to in order to comment. To start off with this is not a professional shop they are a joke.To anyone thinking about taking your vehicle here don t if throwing your money away is what you want to do,roll your windows down on the way there and throw it out.Better to throw it away than get scammed out of it.Took my car there waited almost two weeks for them to tell me 2gear was gone and recommending it be rebuilt. The manager calls me about the rebuild and suggested I supply the parts, because he said Ammoco would mark them up 10 times the cost. I asked him if I buy the parts were they still going to warranty the transmission,he said yes. I paid quite a bit of money for a master rebuild kit and a viper 2nd gear they recommended also new clutch.Waited almost a month for work to be done.Picked my car up they charged me 1100 dollars on top of what I had to pay for parts.Transmission didn t last 5 months. They told me when I called the manager that they only warrantied the job for 90 days. What kind of supposedly professional shop gives a 90 day warranty on a complete rebuild!

I would like to take the time to say thank you to the AAMCO team located on Hull Street for once again doing another great job on my vehicle. I received my first service from AAMCO approximately 2yrs ago to get a transmission on my Chevrolet Impala. Since then I haven't had any problems with my Chevy. Here recently I started having issues with the engine in my 2008 Acadia. I decided to reach out to AAMCO based on my previous service and I received nothing but the best service I could ask for. The manager John, has been very patient with me calling several times a day with questions. He's always professional when answering my questions and concerns. I would recommend AAMCO located on Hull Street to anyone who is looking for a shop that offer first class service.

They will for sure be my go to for any future car troubles #winningatservice #thankyou

Just had my transmission rebuilt there. I don't have anything really bad to say about the place, but all I can tell you is beware! I was quoted at $2,400 and I agreed. I had just came from the dealer with the diagnosis, so I knew what needed to be done. After all the extra miscellaneous things they said I needed, my new total was $3,380!! A quick google search will tell you rebuilding a transmission should take 2-3 days. My vehicle was in their care for 5 full days and 2 Saturdays in which the shop was open only til noon.Manager told me they were understaffed and closed on Saturday, which wasn't accurate. Under staffing should never be the customers problem to deal with, especially while having to pay for a rental car. I'm not sure why he said they were closed on Saturdays, but whatever. I also didn't like the fact that the manager told me how much money he was going to save me by ordering an aftermarket solenoid for me for "only" $550. I could have bought one myself for $150-250. I could understand them charging maybe $300-$350 max, but i felt my intelligence was a little insulted when he tried to butter me up by falsely claiming to be saving me a lot of money. If an air filter costs $20 at an auto parts store, but a shop tells me they are saving me $$ and found one for $50, i think that would be a little crappy to say the least. Everyone in the place was very nice and helpful, and explanatory, but as i said...just beware.Prepare for your car to be there a whole week at MINIMUM for a transmission rebuild...and prepare to potentially pay up to $1,000 more than what your original quote is. It appears the job has been completed properly though, so that counts for something.

My experience with AAMCO was great. Jeff Strong, the Customer Service Manager arranged for my car to be towed to the facility at no expense and when extra research was required to locate parts for my car, Jeff and another AAMCO representative went to work to get the job done. They never gave up on me. Excellent customer service, excellent job. I would recommend them to anyone.

The team at AAMCO was super friendly and helpful to diagnose the problem with my transfer case in my Jeep Wrangler. I have an older TJ, so I did not want to spend a ton of money, I worked with Wayne to set limits on the amount I could spend to get it fixed. Wayne determined that repairing my broken transfer case would go over my budget, so he helped me find a used one online. He installed the new-used transfer case, and the Jeep is running perfectly. I will recommend Wayne and AAMCO to my friends if they need transmission work.

First and foremost, The personnel was very friendly yet I don't know if that friendliness is a cover-up. I took my car there for service a week and 4 days ago and they ordered my part for my car. The part was the wrong part for my car. Yet, the person didn't even get a chance to call or anything to give me any information about my car. I had to call and check up on it. They seem to be very slow and not proactive. So now it's going to take another week or so for the car to come back. I don't know if it's a screw up on purpose or not. But it's kinda strange. My car will take a total of 3 weeks for it to be fix. That's crazy.
